I just love this store. My daughter loves to go into A Book Above and pick out a book. When I have wanted something specific, they are always able to order it. Also, I went there to get a gift for my 14 year old niece and they were able to give me some recommendations. Come Christmas when she opened them she was so excited and the books were exactly what she wanted. A great addition to our community!

I cant say enough about how refreshing it is to have such a shop near us. 1st of all its cozy and quaint and then the service is perfect. The owner goes out of her way to help you select the perfect book for anyone, and if she doesnt carry it in stock at the moment, she orders it right away. They also host fun events in the store on a regular basis to help support literacy efforts and those in the community who dont have enough access to books. We are very fortunate to have a store owners who cares so much.

A Book Above is a great little book store in South Elmhurst. I have purchased books for myself and my grandchildren. Carolyn is very knowledgeable about childrens books and will guide you into the perfect selection. She also runs a literacy not-for-profit so shes giving back to the community, too! The store offers toddler story times, has guest readers and speakers, and collects donations for a literacy program called Readers Ignite. It’s such a nice change stepping into this store. I don’t get overwhelmed like you do in big box stores plus the owner is helpful and I have ordered books from them for less than Amazon with the same delivery timeframe!

Excellent experience! I dont even live in the area, but Carolyn, (the owner) was able to find just the books I needed, and only the week before Christmas! Shes wonderful, and so helpful.My son (7) got The Giving Tree. My daughter (10) got The Last Unicornb a book I got when I was 10, and I got them A Light in the Attic to share.I recorded my daughter reading a couple of silly poems from it, but I dont know how to post them.Carolyn, thank you so much for helping me find the perfect Christmas gifts, books. I love this store! An old fashioned bookstore filled with great books for kids. A nice small locally owned business, and not your typical big box experience. Classics and soon to be classics, chosen wisely. A comfortable chair.The owner is very nice and can order you any title that you want. Very kid friendly. I like going to the coffee shop nearby (at the front of the strip mall) and enjoying some books with my kids afterwards. A Book Above is located in the back of the shopping strip, between the montessori school and the elder care service.

Thoughtfully put together, with child hood favorites from Just Me And My Dad, Dr. Seuss, I Love You Through And Through, to Joyce Meyer, and Phil Vischer! Refreshing to visit an actual bookstore, and reading through the content, as opposed to just sifting through books on Amazon.
