Luis had my truck for 10 months and didnt do a single thing but dismantle parts of my transmission to make it look like he did something. We had an agreement pre-Covid quarantine for him to rebuild my transmission. I had been a customer since about 2007, and he was also a customer of mine. Up until 2020, he was an honest and reliable mechanic. This past year everything changed. I left the truck with him in early March, paid him $900 up front as he said he needed to purchase parts which I had no problem doing based on our track record of quick turnaround, reliable cash-service. He made his first of about 8 promises/guarantees that he would have my truck done soon, which at the time, was my only vehicle. I had to borrow cars at the time to get to work. I should have known something was up when he took me in the office that day and gave me an actual invoice, something he never had done before. So then the nightmare began. He stopped answering his phone when I would call to get an update, seeing that i needed my only vehicle back. Then he closed up shop, not allowing anyone in with the gate locked. After a few months, i come to find out that he was supposedly hit with a quarantine due to contracting Covid, so his shop was closed. I tried to get in contact with him on many occasions, with him never answering the phone or returning my calls. More time went by, and i began getting more restless and upset, i needed my truck back so I could stop borrowing cars. He kept ignoring my calls as weeks went on. I ended up having to buy a second car because this guy wasnt communicating with me or doing his job, not keeping his word that hed repair my truck. Eventually, i was able to get inside the gate due to one of his employees letting me in. This was probably the first of 3 times I was able to get in. I found my truck parked back hidden in the very rear of his lot, blocked in by 30 or more cars that clearly were not going anywhere anytime soon. It was pretty obvious what he thought of me and my truck as a priority to him at that point. He had a meeting with me in his office, sang a sob story about his personal life, getting Covid, his employees abandoning him and being sued by the county for 50k for allowing a tenant on an adjacent property of his for operating an illegal marijuana dispensary. I showed compassion to him on this day, and he promised me again he would have my truck done in 2 weeks. He said the rebuild was done, he just had to install the transmission back. This was only one of about 8 guarantees that he would fix my truck in 2 weeks or 15 days time. Of course, he didnt come through and would never return my calls. I was able to get into the shop again after a few months, and he made me more promises. So at this point, you can probably tell there are 2 idiots involved here, him and myself. I just kept trusting this guy. Finally in 2021 i got back in the shop on a Monday and demanded he move my car out on the street so I could tow it somewhere else. He promised me on Tuesday he would do it, but there was one last car that he lost the key for that was blocking my truck. He volunteered to pay for the tow to the mechanic of my choice. Of course, he didnt come through until i threatened him with a visit from the sheriff on Friday of the same week, he finally towed it to my other mechanic on Saturday morning. Before he did that, he tried to make it look like he actually did the rebuild of the transmission, but just disassembled parts of the electronics. In summary to this rather long and ridiculous explanation of how I let this man take advantage of my kindness and my own stupidity, he took my money and did none of the work. I wont say why, but there are more reasons why I believe this man is ingesting some sort of substance that is altering his well-being (you should be able to decipher what Im trying to say), his actions and constant promises might be something youve experienced before with someone in your life. Im not saying hes not fixing cars right now, because he is, but maybe go somewhere else...
