Ive taken two guitars to Greg Hanson – a 10-year old Martin and 50-year old Yamaha acoustic. His evaluation of each was thorough and concise. His recommendations were what youd want from your physician – the least invasive cure. Each guitar was returned with improved intonation and playability for a fair price. He also demonstrated the Midwest Nice of his roots, while telling how he developed his knowledge and expertise. I have to drive a distance to get there, but will gladly return.

Dave is a top notch luthier. Hes passionate and knowledgeable about his work, and he offers helpful suggestions even if it lowers his overall price point. Hes worked on three different guitars for me, and Ill be back anytime I have issues.

Impossible to get a hold of. They could be the greatest luthiers in the world, but Id never know because they dont respond to email or voicemail. Disappointing, as they seem to be located very close to my home but I have to drive 30 mins to find another reputable tech. Business must be good, and good for them.... Just be aware that if youre looking for help with your guitar and dont want to spend time chasing Hanson & Crawford down, there are a lot of better options in the area.

Greg and David are the go to guys for professional players in the triangle and surrounding areas. For a reason! From a cracked neck on a 1961 Melody Maker to fret dressings, levelings, and setups, they have worked on several of my older Gibson guitars. They have all come back playing like sweet dreams. Due to their well deserved reputation as masters of the craft they sometimes can have a pretty long turnaround, but it’s certainly worth the wait and they don’t seem to mind fortnightly calls for status updates. To be sure, no other luthier’s shop touches any of my guitars.

I trust them with my extraordinarily expensive guitars and they not only never fail me, they always please me greatly. -And I am an aviation technician of 30 years, so I know quality when I see it. Their work is above and beyond anyone Ive had work on my fine guitars.
