I delayed a few months from writing a review about this place. Now that I have spent over 3000 on repairs after purchasing a car from this place my advice...DONT TRUST RON. Of course hes sweet and will seem genuinely concerned that you pick the right car. I purchased an SUV from them. Within two weeks the check engine light comes on catalytic converter on both sides were bad and now engine is needing to be replaced. Codes were cleared so when I got it checked, before putting my money on it to pay cash, wasnt detected. Im angry because the lie that was told to me is that they would never sell a car like and they check their car thoroughly. They lie and hide their lie.

At the outset of our appointment, he told me that first and foremost he sees customers as family to Southern Star Automotive and as such, he would see to it that I was taken care of. The lot was packed with visitors however, he honored our appointment and explained to others he was working with that, he would have to help me because I had set up an appointment in advance. He did his best to check up on them while I was test driving cars but I liked that he honored my appointment.I viewed several cars and explained my situation as to why I needed the car. He made sure to find other cars that would meet my needs and took the time to discuss various options we could go with. While test driving one of the cars, I noticed another dealer had the car I wanted but in a different color.When I returned to Southern Star, I told David that even though I had narrowed down to 2 cars on the lot, I wouldnt feel satisfied until I visited the other dealer to see the car they were offering. David was very gracious and did not try the hard sell. He wanted me to be sure I was satisfied. After viewing the car on the lot, I returned to David and was able to get my car purchased literally within 1 hour.This was the best experience I have EVER had in purchasing a car. I really appreciated David so much that I have him keeping an eye on a good deal for my DREAM car so that I can purchase another car through him.When the process was over and we took pictures with myself and the car. I needed a good work truck and spent days looking on line before running across the truck I purchased at Southern Star. Summary: Would definitely recommend!! Story: I had been searching for a new vehicle online for weeks with no luck. I spent an entire Saturday driving all around metro Atlanta looking and stopping at dealerships, only to be let down by the conditions or prices of their vehicles. Southern Star Automotive was one of the last places I stopped at for the day and it was like a sigh of relief washed over me. I saw this gorgeous Jeep that was in my price range, in my mileage range, and in my car-age range. I’m pretty sure I was awestruck because the salesman Ronny came up to me with the keys and told me I looked like I was itching to take it for a test ride so go drive it. He told me all the details about the Jeep, knowing so much detail about one of the multiple dozens of vehicles on his lot. Which, side note, he has many cars and they’re all in fantastic condition and for great prices. As soon as I sat in the Jeep, and even when I started it up, it just felt like the perfect fit. It’s hard to explain, but I just knew it was the one for me. After my test drive I was ready to sign it and take off before someone else tried to take it from me. Let me tell you, a Saturday night at Southern Star is a busy one! I was one of 4 customers in the process of buying a car!! Amazingly though, Ronny handled it with ease. He was constantly on his feet moving from person to person helping them with their paper processing procedures, but it went so smoothly and stress free. I was last in line to buy my Jeep, so I had the opportunity to not be rushed and to ask questions (this was my first time financing a vehicle). Ronny was so great – he went through all the detailed information with me, explained the process of a lot of the paperwork, and even spent extra time working with the creditors to get me the best rate and financing period possible. All of these things are probably standard, but this was my first time doing any of that and Ronny made the whole situation comfortable and anxiety-free. The most amazing thing to me was his patience and laidback attitude. As I said before, I arrived at the end of my day, which was dangerously close to closing time for Southern Star; buying a car takes a lot of time, especially when you have many customers at once and, basically, I left 2 hours after closing. Ronny was so great though, he didn’t mind being there so much longer than expected, and he was so nice and caring. To be honest, I was a little bit leery of going to a smaller dealership that I’ve never heard of before. I’ve purchased cars from larger dealerships, typically selling one make of car. Most of those experiences were bad with pressure to upgrade our car with unnecessary options that didn’t fit our needs or budget.THIS WAS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE! Maybe because Southern Star Automotive isn’t a big chain, it felt like a relational experience without the gimmicky tactics or surprise fees and upcharges. David’s low-key way of letting me look at and drive the car made me feel free to take my time. Honestly, the car sold itself—it’s a beautiful, near-flawless Subaru Outback with a clean title history and the price was incredible. I didn’t have to wheel and deal on price because it was well below what other dealers with a similar year/make/model/milage were asking. My out the door price was clearly laid out before I even came in for a test drive. There were no surprises when it came time to sign.I had the car inspected before purchasing and the independent mechanic said that they found nothing to prohibit me from buying the car and overall was in great shape. But David still arranged for me to come back the next day and have a few small things done (it is a used car, so I wasn’t expecting it to be like new). The day after I bought the car, I came back and they took care of those minor things and detailed it so it was looking like new. They could have easily said ‘it’s your car now’ because those minor fixes werent in writing, but they stood by their word.I’m beyond happy with my experience and my new car. Big mistake 🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️ Im editing my review because Im tried of being ignored. They have caller id so every single time I call using my personal number they never pick up so Im forced to use my jobs phone just so I can speak to someone. The professionalism of this company is abhorrent I got another vehicle so you would think that this would be all behind me right? No, I was able to cancel my warranties easily through my lienholder and send them the necessary documents and receive my check. When I call Southern Star Automotive I have to re-explain everything even though I have sent emails with no reply. I will be leaving reviews on every car Automotive website in hopes that there isnt some other naive hopefully person coming here thinking they will be receiving a quality dream car ! Southern Star Automotive Review:This was the most pleasant and comfortable car-buying experience I’ve ever had. I showed up early to my appointment (I was scared I’d get stuck in traffic on the way), and Ronny Watts already had the car I’d called about ready for me to test drive, as well as a printed copy of the AutoCheck with all prior service records! After I test drove the car, he told me to take my time looking through it. When I had to leave to go to another test-drive appointment I had made the previous day, I was so torn. Ronny told me to call him after I’d seen the other car, because he would hold it (with a deposit) if I was still interested. He even printed out a bill of sale so I would know exactly how much the car would cost after taxes and fees—I don’t think any other dealer has done that until we were already signing paperwork. I called him from the second dealership and told him I was coming back in about 15 minutes to buy the car. On my way back, I was rerouted several times by a train derailment. I called Ronny, and he gave me directions to come a different way. When those directions also failed due to the fire department and police closing the entire 3600 block of Buford Hwy because of the train, he walked out into the intersection in front of the dealership to speak with the officer redirecting traffic. He asked her to please let me through when I came to the intersection, as I was just trying to get to their dealership. When I got to the officer, she let me through because of Ronny. Once there, Ronny immediately drew up all of the paperwork and parked the new-to-me car next to my old car in order to make it easier for me to transfer over car seats and such. While he was working on the title and other legal documents, one of the guys in the service department, Felipe, moved over the after-market crossbars from my old car to my new-to-me car. He didn’t just take them off the old car and place them in the trunk area, though—he reinstalled them on the new-to-me car for me! He went way above and beyond what I would expect! As we were finishing up with signatures and transferring of keys (they bought my old car for a reasonable trade-in price), I realized that I forgot the title to my old car at home. Ronny could’ve stopped the process then and there or told me to pay the difference of what they were giving me for the old car until I came back with the title, but he didn’t. He simply told me to send it with a tracking number ASAP. Then he gave me the new keys and my copy of the paperwork, and he took pictures of me happily sitting in the driver’s seat, which he then texted to me so I could have a copy too.Oh, and the price of the new-to-me car was a GREAT price. The car was incredibly clean, everything functions as it should, and I know we will be driving it for a long time! So happy to have found this trustworthy dealership!

I have been in the car bussines for 6 years and let me tell you guys one thing customer service goes a long way! This people took care of my fathers truck even after he had sign the As-is in all the contract papers that says a lot about a bussines ethic not only that but they provide franchise service level by providing him with a loaner while they fixed his truck! And it was fast work! All I can say it’s that I’m thankful they did not turned the other way when my dad came in with after sale issues but they did their absolute best to help him out! I would be more then happy to send customers their way ! Keep up the good work!

This place is a scam don’t waste your money here. Was asking 3500$ over fair value for a 2011 GMC Sierra. Henry would print off an appraisal from different sites for this vehicle if it had a clean title and for “extra clean” or “excellent” condition. The vehicle he was selling had two accidents reported on its record. They claim their prices are the best so there’s no need to negotiate. I tried today, and felt like he wasn’t even willing to here me make an offer. He’d come outside for five seconds then walk back inside for another 5-10 minutes never letting me get in a word.

I was looking for a specific vehicle, a Mercedes R350. I searched online and found a few within 150 miles of my home in Rome, Ga. I went to dealers in Marietta, Canton and Birmingham, AL as well as from private owners. I was very happy to find what I was looking for at Southern Star Automotive. I spoke to Henry on the phone, drove to Duluth and found that the R350 they listed online was exactly as it was pictured and described in their listing online. After getting the Credit Union satisfied with all the paperwork that Henry provided to them. I now have the vehicle I was looking for at home.
