Good selection, reasonably priced. Both new and used stuff. Staff was friendly and helpful. Practice rooms in the back, and a full basement full of cheaper equipment. Great local music shop.

This music store is a gem in the Beaverdale community.They fixed my daughter expensive azumi flute perfectly. My daughter was impressed and happy when she got her instrument back. She said her instrument played better than before. This is the second time we have come in for service on 2 different instruments and their customer service is always excellent and the prices are fair.

Went in looking for drum parts . I had to wait for the two guys behind the counter to finish their Important conversation before they both looked at me like i was an Alien . Weird and unhelpful . Never going back .

So glad I chose this store to buy my first guitar. I felt very nervous going in as I knew nothing about guitars but left feeling very happy and excited to learn. The staff are so friendly and went out of their way showing and explaining to me the difference between every guitar. This will be the only store I go-to for all my musical needs. Wow I was amazed by how kind and knowledgeable and nonjudgmental the staff was, I felt at home and at ease asking questions and Dave the percussion expert there helped my 14 year old son with the best options for purchasing drum heads! Also he took a special interest in what type of drummer my son was and wanted to figure out what would work best for his drum style and he made my son feel like he mattered and it was really nice as a mother to see someone be so kind to my son and really listen! It’s hard to make a 14 year old boy happy and Dave knew how to deal with him and treated him like he would anyone else so very happy and impressed with his compassion and thoughtfulness!! The experience here was beyond impressive and I highly recommend this amazing place to purchase and to get informed by the best experts wow great customer service they Actually care about their customers and their needs!!!!!!!!!

I just had an Alto Saxophone tuned up that was nearly 50 years old. Service was excellent, fast and the horn plays like a new one. Pricing was also very reasonable. I would highly recommend Uptempo Music to anyone who needs service work done on their instruments.

This is a great place for musicians playing almost any instrument. They sell instruments, accessories, and sheet music. I play four different instruments (guitar, piano, flute, and keyboard). They had everything I would need. They also offer some repair services. There staff is helpful and the prices are competitive to the local stores and actually are much lower than the leading local store.

Great service, even after instrument was paid in full. Gave a loaner for weeks and repairs costs were almost half of what the estimate was. Also gave a new instrument case as other was showing signs of wear.

Cannot recommend Uptempo. We recently called to inquire about a flute repair. The guy on the phone was polite, made a preliminary diagnosis of the problem, and gave us an at most quote of $50. Even said we could rent a replacement for $10 while ours was in the shop for a week. Off to a great start!When we arrived later that day, we explained that we had called about a repair. Without hesitation, the guy acted annoyed and stated, I just came from the shop. Not exactly sure why this was relevant at the time or what we were supposed to do with that information.He took the flute and quickly fired off, Theyre not going to want to work on this, and suggested we just go buy a new flute because that route would be cheaper. We asked if he could take it to the shop and provide a quote. He reluctantly said he could.So then we asked about the rental that we were told would be $10, to which he responded, Not in this circumstance.At this point we decided to leave. We said Thank you, (which was met with cold silence) and exited. My wife commented that she had never been treated so rudely by any retail establishment. Im glad we learned early on how they treat customers before our other two children got to band age. Well be sure to spread the word to other parents.

Excellent service! I know next to nothing about instruments, but wanted to give Christmas gifts to my nieces. Mark was incredibly helpful, informative, straightforward regarding the instruments. It was also a low pressure purchase- no push towards the most expensive or flashy. I would recommend them.

Prices were comparable if not a little cheaper than competitors. Staff I worked with was super friendly and very knowledgeable. They had all kinds of music equipment for just about everything I could think of (and some things I didnt know existed). Local and part of the neighborhood, this is the kind of business I love to support.

I went here after my sister recommended UpTempo Music to me because I was looking for strings and other supplies for my guitars. The clerk was very helpful, pointing me in the right direction to find the items I wanted, and pointing out the least expensive items when I asked. I will definitely use UpTempo Music again--better prices than Reimans Music by far!

My mother bought a ukulele here last summer and got such wonderful service that when I became interested in the instrument months later there was only one place I was going to go to get mine. The prices are solid, everyone there will go the extra mile to make sure you have a positive experience and while I havent had need to make sure, I definitely walked away with the impression that if there was something specific I was looking for that they might not have in stock at the time that they would do what they could to help me in that regard as well. In fact, I actually am looking to purchase a second ukulele there in the next few days. They seem to be the only dealer in town that stocks the brand Im looking for, which should come as no suprise as they seem to have the most ukes of any store in the Des Moines metro. Uptempo is a stop every time family makes the eight-hour drive out here.
