I went in for a violin and the staff was incredibly helpful. They provided multiple violins in my price range and encouraged me to try them out. Good products, good staff, and it was overall a good experience

Absolutely amazing people!!! My alto sax wasnt working properly so I took it in expecting to be paying quite a bit, but I was in there for 10 minutes and they had it fixed with NO CHARGE! I guess it was just a loose F# spring, but they very easily couldve charged me if they wanted, they were just focused on getting me playing again! Thank you so much!!!

Where else would you go for student instruments? Their rental prices are really reasonable and go towards buying the instrument or you can trade in for the next size up. Their instrument insurance is amazing. Weve only had to use it for wear and tear, to replace bows and a cracked bridge, but theyve been great about it.

Had an absolutely amazing experience renting and then purchasing a harp. The people who work in the harp department are warm and welcoming, and really take the approach that harp should be accessible to all. Family owned business.Very friendly and knowledgeable employees.They sell band and orchestra instruments, sheet music and accessories for instruments. Additionally, they sell harps. This is one of the few, if not the only, stores in which to buy harps within the Rocky Mountain region.This store also has an instrument repair shop.

Theres a reason Kolacny is still around while so many other Denver music stores have gone under - excellent selection of music and instruments, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and overall excellent service. I love this place.

Just walked out of the store today after being told by a clerk that I need to have a mask on in order to patronize the establishment in person. This in lieu of the mask order mandate being lifted by the state. Apparently kolacny music finds it more important to enforce something that should be considered a public choice at this time than operate a business. A policy that is based on pseudo-science. Im taking my business to an local music store who has the mouthpieces I was interested in who does not strictly enforce ridiculousness! Congrats kolacny, hope that policy works well for your business, Ill never be back!

One of the best music stores with an amazing harp department. You come in as a customer and leave as a friend. I previously rented a harp from them and had a great experience. When I decided to buy I came back to Kolacny and bought a used lever harp from them last weekend. My max budget was $2,000 and if you are a harpist you know it’s hard to find a harp for that price. They were so helpful and respectful of my budget, thoroughly explained everything and helped me choose the instrument that spoke to me out of the several that I could afford. I absolutely love my Dusty Strings harp.

Stopped by today to have my daughters flutes evaluated. We were thrilled to experience exceptional customer service from Naftari, who we quickly identified as a rare gem. We were able to have our needs addressed, receive advice, a quick adjustment, evaluation and an estimate to re-pad another flute and my daughter couldnt be more happy. Weve been to other music shops and have never received such great service. We will definitely be returning to Kolacny Music for any of our instrumental needs in the future.

The greatest experience I’ve ever had in a music store. The gentlemen that helped me with my lever harp were charming and extremely knowledgeable. They had it fixed in 15 minutes.

Always honest:We have been going here for years for care and feeding of our sons violin. If we dont really need new strings, or they dont have exactly what we need, they say so, rather than just taking our money. The people who work there are friendly and patient. We tend to ask a lot of questions and they are happy to answer them all.

Needed a part for my sons tuba. Called them on the phone and thay said they could order the part if needed but my have a part that would fit the tuba. 10 minutes after arrival I was on the road with a similar part that fit and was priced at $10. My daughter and I came here to rent an instrument for her orchestra elective. The staff person who helped us was very friendly and knowledgeable. She measured my daughters arm length to determine the best size of viola, and when she brought out the instrument, she walked her through how to handle and care for it.

We stop in every time were in Colorado. My mom always buys harp music. The staff are always friendly and helpful. This was my sons first visit, and he was happy to find two accessories for his recording bass (tuba)!

My parents bought their piano through Kolacny Music back in the 70s, and when I decided I wanted to learn the harp 10 years ago, Kolacny was the place to go. I have bought 2 harps from them and hope eventually to get a third. the harp department does repairs and servicing and also has a large selection of music. David Kolacny is president of the Celtic Harp Society and sponsors visits.and workshops of prominent musicians from around the world. How fortunate we are to have such a resource in Denver. If you are an aspiring harpist, I highly recommend Kolacny Music.

Came in looking for a tuba. They only had one but they let me try it out downstairs since I brought my own mouthpiece. They were very friendly and knew their stuff. Great service. Even though I didnt take the tuba, (bit small) I felt like if I was buying a harp or some other horn, I would be confident in buying it from here.

Wow! These guys are exceptional. I took my cello to them because it was making a buzzing noise that was subtle enough for the layman not to hear, but to me, was so annoying that I had difficulty practicing. Sure enough, the Kolacny staff had a honed enough ear to hear it, too, and not only were they able to determine the cause, but they were able to fix it in a very reasonable amount of time for a *very* reasonable price. Also, their customer service is top notch. Every single person I interacted with, from phone to in-person, was very friendly and helpful. They dispel the music snob reputation typical of many string shops, and they clearly love what they do. I also love that their shop was founded so long ago - in 1930 - and is still being run by the family. It has that cozy mom-and-pop shop feel to it. Im looking forward to giving them my business from now on. A+!

This is the ONLY place to rent your childs band instrument, if youre serious about your child learning to play an instrument. We rented to own my daughters clarinet and the monthly charge was very reasonable. The Kolacny staff have the knowledge youd only get from a store thats been in the same family for generations. The same goes for their service. When youre there, check out the store mini museum in the basement. Its a nice slice of Denver history through the eyes of Kolacny Music.

My boys were given a guitar. A couple of the strings broke, so I brought it in and asked how much to replace all of the strings, since I had no idea how old they were. The gentleman there informed me that the neck was slightly bent. He was able to fix the neck and replace all of the strings for a great price and made me feel very welcome and comfortable!! Amazing service and great prices!

I recently shopped a repair on my daughters trombone, got a couple of high quotes, but more importantly, was quoted 7-10 days repair time. At the recommendation of a local music instructor, I took the instrument to Kolacny Music, where the actual repairman was able to size up the task in about 30 seconds, and give me a *very* reasonable quote (about 1/2 of what the other shops were asking). It was completed to perfection (dent removal) in under two days. What else can I say, but thank you.

The Kolacnys are a gem in Denver, and the center of our harp world. The whole family works there and are all quite knowledgeable. I probably call once a month searching for music for brides, and they always have great suggestions. They support and publish local musicians, sponsor local festivals, and sponsor amazing harp performances in Denver. Dave provides excellent service regulating harps and often allows harpists to sell their harps in his shop second hand. They carry both lever and pedal harps and music, and support both communities equally with newsletters and information about upcoming events. As a teacher who relies on their fully supported rent-to-own harp program, I dont know what we would do without them!

Wonderful, knowledgeable, Harp teacher. I KNOW that they are called something so much more sophisticated and titled. I believe they teach Orchestral Harp lesson but they might also start at the beginning too. These guys know and have a full page of harp teacher in Colorado and their style of teaching and other important information. They have lots of music for harps from Suzuki style learning books to the Standards to brass instruments, consignment, new and used etc. Great place. Super friendly and knowledgeable. So hard to leave and you cant wait to come back. Im finding by talking with others that this is kind of a general thing that happens. At least among the harpests.

I will travel ( time and miles) to go to Kolacny before any other store for musicians. They sell everything and do repairs. Its a locally owned family business for several generations. Very trustworthy and knowledgable. Can put you in touch with what you need or where you need to go. Can easily put pickups in equipment if not already loaded. They are the foremost harp provider in the region. When I was in store right now, they had consignment harps from Lyon &Healey, from Carmac (France), local nationally reputable individual sellers like Rick Rubarth, and from Japan (as well as offer brand new ones). They provide a whole room for just harp music! The present owners in the family, Dave and his wife, are superb to work with for all your musician needs. I cant say enough about this perfect establishment AND they support all sorts of local music, especially harp and other ethnic, jazz, acoustic, classical, etc, initiatives. They have been main promoters of the areas harp society, of course. Right now before StPats Day, pennywhistles and all sorts of Irish instruments plus the music are flying out the door. I am very impressed. When they hosted the jazz harpist Park Stickney in town, I almost bought his harp through them as Park got a different one from them. I guess this gives you the picture. Im an enthusiast who travels an hour and half just to enter this musical oasis.

Wow, they carry so many harps! We bought one and have received such good, personal service from these folks.

I asked if I could try out mouthpieces and they said my double buzz is probably an ambashure issue. Which it is, but a mouthpiece might help. They made me feel like I should leave and I didnt need to try anything although they said I could if I wanted. They werent rude, and the man was helpful but I felt kind of judged while I was in the store like this lady had this look on her face like why does this guy have a double buzz he should practice more. I dont know, I just felt uncomfortable the whole time. Good store with good selection of music though.

Love this place! They are always so cool to let me play around with all the amazing basses on the rack. Some cost more than my car! The long time bass tech and I believe one of the Kolancny sons, is a truly talented bass technician and a great player in his day. He let me hang out in his shop while he worked on my upright. He cracked lots of funny jokes too!

Have taken my kids saxophone here a few times and they have always been thorough and quick and charged a fair price. Now if I could just get the kid to stop breaking it.....
