After watching an episode of Diners Drive-ins and Dives before taking a trip to Colorado Springs, my husband and I decided that we had to drive into Denver just to get some sandwiches here. I ordered The Bacon which is the sandwich below. If you love a balanced sandwich full of flavor and texture, I recommend this one. The Bacon in simple terms is a BLT elevated with apple butter and jalapeno aoli. If you want a hefty portion of meat with still plenty of flavor, I recommend The Pastrami which my husband ordered. The Pastrami is their wagyu beef pastrami with sauerkraut and thousand island dressing. We each took a single bite of eachothers sandwich, but we were both happier with our own choice. The food was everything that we hoped for, and it was worth the traffic that we fought through to get there.
Ordered a BLT for breakfast and it was amazing. The Bacon was perfect. Wanted to take a picture of the sandwich but I ended up eating it right away
One of the best delis I have ever been to! The roast beef sandwich and the pastrami were fantastic! This deli was featured on Diners, Dine Ins and Drives!!! We are locals and this place is truly one of the best!!!!
Wonderful Italian meats cured on site, sliced paper thin, delicious! Its a trip from where I live but worth the trip, hopefully, the girls will want to experience Colorado sourced meats and cheeses and get a chacuterie board to share. Worth the trip and money.
I ordered the charcuterie platter to go and was disappointed with the turn out. It was the small platter so should’ve served 2 as does their platter you can order when dining at the deli. Same description and everything, only to-go is more than double what it costs to order and eat it there. I figured it was additional costs for the presentation (maybe it came on a wooden plank?). It tasted fine but it didn’t come with half of what was in the description and was in a cheap plastic container… I don’t understand where the premium charge comes from. It’s essentially a $50 appetizer for two… definitely the last time I will be getting a charcuterie platter from here.
Love love love! I had the BLT for breakfast every week during pregnancy and it was the amaaaazing! Awesome customer service, too. Really great way to start the day! Thanks Noah, Jason and Evan.
My boyfriend and I are obsessed with this place. I love the smoked turkey. I would love if they released nutrition facts for the sandwiches so I can fit into my diet better :)
Took over 20 min for them to make the sandwich. If they are backed up they should let people know before ordering and have more than one person making sandwiches. Before leaving I heard one of the cashiers say it would only be a couple minutes to a customer that just ordered. $15 for a sandwich is a lot, and so is waiting 20 mins. The sandwich was mediocre. Im sure it would have been more enjoyable if it didnt take so long. Ended up adding more stuff to it when I got home. Wouldnt recommend.
Just tried the pastrami sandwich — Excellent! Can’t wait start trying the entire menu.
Got the bacon sandwich and the wook. Wouldnt expect the vegetarian sandwich to be so good, but my girlfriend and I loved it so much we went back for a second before leaving. Sweet people, good service, great food. So glad to have been recommended this place
Quite possibly the best turkey sandwich I’ve had in my life…
So glad I saw the episode on Diners drives and dives I am so happy food is excellent Bacon is the best cant wait to go back and try more
First time visiting. Rude servers and unfriendly. Customer service = 0. Was very excited about trying their sandwiches. After asking about a specific ham was told only whats on displays is what they offer. Didnt even tried to figure out what I was asking about. Is like the server didnt want me there or offer me food. Food is good, server not so much. Will not return. Hope you listen next time.
Fun atmosphere and delicious sandwiches! Also has a surprisingly amazing peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Unbelievable taste and texture of a deli sandwich! Well-balanced ingredients as well. I’ve eaten many variants of an Italian style sub and by far “The Hoggie” is the best I’ve tasted. Like ever. Oh and don’t even decide to order “The Bacon”. Your mouth with be salivating for more at the end. Go to this place now!!!
This is hands down the absolute best sandwiches in the state. This is unlike any place youve eaten. Freshness to the moon and back. Staff that is mature and educated on the vast selections and locations of origin on the meats. And cleanliness? Nailed it. This aint your run of the mill chain joint with teenage pimplefaced, stoned staff that couldnt tell you if their bologna is pork beef or chicken. This is grown up, desirable food that will become your weekly go-to, like it has for us. Bravo team 🏅
I first heard of this place on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. When we were in Denver recently I knew we had to stop by, and I am so glad we did. We wanted breakfast to-go and to stock up on some meat and cheese for a picnic hike we had planned. I chose the breakfast BLT, and I promise that this is the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had. The bacon was excellent, the bread soft, the egg perfectly cooked. I dream about this sandwich and the day I’ll finally be back in Denver so I can eat it again.
100% certified delicious
That breakfast croissant sandwich, add the bacon jam, was legit one of the top 5 breakfast sandwiches Ive ever had.
We love this place! The sandwiches are delicious. Their salumi and charcuterie are outstanding! And the breakfast sausage is fantastic.
Everything here is so good! If you enjoy charcuterie, I highly recommend trying them out. In addition to cured meats, they also have amazing sausages and cuts of meat for you to take home and cook, as well as really great prepared food. I also appreciate the recommendations from staff about new things to try.
Breakfast sandwiches were outstanding. Have lived on Tennyson a year and never visited.. now it was a mistake because Ill be broke now going all the time. We got the BLT and crossicant. Both were delicious. Well be back for more again soon. Nice people. And coffee next door. Thanks.
House cured meats blend perfectly into masterfully crafted sandwiches. Alongside a wide range of charcuterie options and butcher cuts you can find almost anything you could want here including delicious soups.
Best butcher shop/deli in Denver! House-made sausages change by the day and every sandwich is to die for! Need to come for breakfast sometime soon. All the house-made charcuterie and accompaniments are on point! They even had culatello which is very rare to find! Highly recommended for anyone wanting a delicious sandwich with house made meats. Please ignore the previous comment about servers, as il porcellino doesn’t even have servers.. it’s a deli counter, with seating once Covid restrictions lift. But again, ignore the completely inaccurate review of servers being rude.Top quality!
Super delicious! Went for the first time, which is surprising in itself given how often I grab coffee from next door. Tiny and cozy. I got The Bacon -- perfect combination of sweet and savoury and just what I needed while rocking a brewery buzz. Will definitely be back!
Tried a bit of their Juniper cured pork with calabrian chiles today - holy wow! It was evident from just taking a quick whiff that I was about to enjoy some stellar cured meat. Fatty, salty, porky, spicy... these all gave way to a very pleasant calabrian chile aftertaste, and eventually a hit of juniper too. This may be the best cured meat Ive had stateside, a must-try for anyone who finds themselves craving salami. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable too. Cant wait to come back.
Had the pastrami sandwich for lunch. Simply delicious. Friendly staff and the perfect lunch on Tennyson st
Some of the best sandwiches Ive had, highly recommended.
Some of the best sandwiches in Denver!
Stopped in today for the first time, my god that “Hoggie” sandwich was outstanding! The pastrami was delicious as well, ended up getting 2 of those. New favorite deli, well done you guys!
Beautiful experience
Some great sandwiches and great house made deli. Will back again soon.
Very poor customer service
This is the type of local place you spend 2–4 hours looking for on Yelp/Eater/etc. and when you discover it you feel like you’ve hit the jackpot.I’ve eaten here fifty times and will never get sick of their sandwiches.
Love this shop! Amazing ingredients for an appetizer or easy meal. Great for entertaining and movie night.
Sandwich was excellent
Best Charcuterie in Colorado. Chef or muggle; this shop truly epitomizes the best of what the industry strives for.., so treat yourself.
By far the best deli sammys in the Denver area
FYI: not dog friendly
Had the chicken waldorf salad sandwich. Surprisingly, incredibly good and fresh. Definitely worth the price. Have been meaning to check this place out for a while. Glad I did, will be back soon!
Very good lunch sandwiches and very creative charcuteries. Love the local Colorado feel.My only negative is that the cheese selection is a bit light. IMHO - they should not do any cheeses or make their cheese selection much better. They are sort of stuck in limbo which translates to subpar cheeses.
This place is top notch. The bagel breakfast sandwiches are my go to on the weekends and are easily the best in Denver. The guys there also give great recommendations on meats/cheeses.
Travelling for work and had some spare time. Knew the coffee next door was decent, stopped in for grub. Blew my taste buds away with flavor. Intimate shopfront, and amazing quality of meats. Guys behind the counter were friendly, and knew their stuff. 10/10 would eat here again, & suggest to friends.Worth checking out. Do it.
This place is awesome! Friendly people, delicious (and huge!) sandwiches. Everything is homemade and amazing. Ive had several of their house cured meats (so far the Fiocca is my favorite) and sandwiches. One day the special was a fried chicken sandwich that was absolute bliss.
Loved the meat selection, already planning a return visit.
Cured meat paradise. Sandwiches that will give you an existential crises. Everything is cured in house- a lot of pork options as it is their primary medium. Buffalo pastrami and lamb options are usually available as well. Hey also pickle in house- unique options (Brussel sprouts, green beans, etc..) tend to be a bit on the sweeter side.
Great food! Friendly courteous staff. We had the Hoggie, the cured meat, veggies and bread, all fantastic!
We drove from Fruita to Denver just to come here, was 100% worth it. had the pastrami sandwich, it was incredible. bought a bunch of cured meats and talked with Ian, who was super friendly and helpful and just plain awesome. Expensive? Not for the quality you get. great vibe, great place, great product, great customer service.
Went here because of a friends recommendation, and was not disappointed. Their sandwiches were amazing, and the staff were fun to talk to. Ill make sure to make my way back here next time Im in Denver
This small but well-stocked store is a go-to for everything from high quality cold cuts for homemade sandwiches, to special cured meats for parties and picnics. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I havent tried the sandwiches, but have tried at least 10 cuts of cured meats. Very special but reasonably affordable for the quality.
The Sausage Making class is phenomenal. Brian and Bill have so much knowledge. They use the best quality of meats and best of all is local. Dont miss out on this opportunity.
I was really looking forward to trying this place for a long time. Finally made it in and tried several items and all where overwhelmingly greasy. Very cool place with good service but just not my style.
This was an amazing quick stop choice. The staff are very friendly. The food is absolutely delicious!!! I am excited to come back soon!
Best bacon in Denver, hooves down. Where to go for all things pig. Had BLTs for lunch. Delicious.
Been looking for a place like this and glad I found it. All the guys are super knowledgeable and their food is top notch.
Definition of quality
Two things saved this from a 3 star review --1) the green chili chips are incredible2) the ridiculous review below me regarding a support dogService dogs and emotional support dogs are two completely different things. Emotional support dogs do NOT have PUBLIC ACCESS rights. Shame on the reviewer below for not knowing the law regarding that. The food was delicious, but for a $13 pastrami sandwich... I hope Im not still hungry after I eat it. Unfortunately I am, not enough substance to the sandwich. Spent $50 on lunch, but I dont think I will again.
Wonderful service and absolutely phenomenal food. Best Philly cheese steak I have ever had handsome down. Do yourself a favor and come get a sandwich.
F.D.A. should really come in and regulate this place. Its clearly an addictive drug. With side effects of an increased love of pigs, excessive drooling, enlarge eyeballs, increases heartrate and weak knees at the sight of their display. Please would someone regulate this and think of the children!WHY WONT ANYONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!
Really tasty sandwiches from a really talented staff. They make excellent in house products and really put a lot of care into it. Always fun to visit!
I love the selection! Best sandwich maker around I think hes great! Unique dry goods and deli case!
Incredible sandwiches. The Pastrami and the Bacon sandwiches were excellent.
Very poor handling with walking in with a service dog. 2 staff behind the counter looked totally disgusted--one in particularly shaking his head. I stated dog was a service animal. What kind of service? Emotional support was my reply. Which didnt seem to appease the disgusted staff. I left feeling very unwelcomed. Drove out of my way to purchase great products for the holidays, have lunch with my husband (who Ive repeatedly told how great this place was). Could staff greeted me and politely explained their service animal requirements? Will never patronize il Porcellino and will share my experience with others.
Originally came in to place an order for takeout and to split a sandwich with someone... I ended up ordering two and we ate there. Kimchi Chicken and The Wook (no meat) were simply amazing.
The staff here is very knowledgeable and great to deal with! The food is amazing!
Great looking product hanging behind glass doors. Has the beautiful perfumed aroma of cured pork in the air.
Wow what a treat!! Best BLT I’ve ever eaten. Yum! Yum!
Easter ham - brined then smoked - was extraordinary: flavor, texture, marbling and moisture. Even the fat was delicious. Unquestionably, the best we have ever had.
We had the Hogie sandwich and it was definitely enough to split between two if you arent extremely hungry.
The Bison and Smoked Pork Belly, todays special, sandwiches are absolutely amazing. Cannot wait to come back to try the others. While sandwiches are their thing, dont make the mistake of thinking of this as simple food, I have not had a FOLB ( Fear of Last Bite) experience like this in a long time.
Great sandwiches! One star less for the pricing ( most are $12 without a side)
We are from out of town and wanted a local great sandwich shop. This is it. The best Bacon sandwich (like a warm blt) I have ever had. Ill return for sure.
Really tasty meats, got a handful of things and they were all good. Ate them with some bread from Babettes. Couldnt ask for a better lunch.
Probably best sandwich in Denver. Really good cured meats too. The real deal.
Came to il porcellino for lunch and had the Hoggie and Spring Chicken sandwich. Both were made with high quality incredients and included homemade sides including spring pasta, potato salad, and slaw. The meats were high quality and cured. Will definitely be back for lunch!
4.9 stars? Im trying to figure out if I ate at the same place. $13 sandwich that featured 3 inch think bread with 1/2 worth of filling, all pilled into the very center of the sandwich. This then managed to make said thick bread thoroughly soggy in the middle and so tough around the edges that I literally could not bite through it. Accompanied by the weirdest potato salad Ive ever had where somehow it was chewy. How does potato salad become chewy?! All in all it was $35 lunch for two undersized sandwiches that my wife and I could barely get down. Definitely will not be eating here again.
Not a typical hoagie but better. The pork belly is delicious and not just for bacon lovers. Mmmm bacon ...
This place is amazing Id go broke if it were closer to the house. Smoked happiness in a glass case.
Fantastic bacon sandwhich. Their bread is out of this world.
Great service and the sandwiches are top notch.
Killer salami and made in CO to boot. I recommend the finocchiona and El Diablo.
Get the BLT and eat every bite. Thanks for one memorable sandwich!
Really good sandwich shop. Great service, excellent food.
If you can make it before 11am they do breakfast bagel sandwiches that are giant and ridiculously tasty
The pastrami sandwich is AMAZING!
Beyond good. Such incredible meats and sandwiches...cant wait to go back!
This is the best sandwich shop in Denver!
Super delicious sandwiches with the freshest meats! The gents that run this establishment are wonderful!
Delicious food (I had The Hoggie) and friendly service!
Had the bison sandwich and was hooked. Moved in a block away and Ive gone every day since, easily the best sandwich shop in Denver.
Super friendly. Awesome products
The bacon sandwich could be one of the best sandwiches I have ever had.
