Want a taste of home?! Buena Gente is so close to comfort for me! The cafe con leche is delicious with buttered bread, early in the ATL/Decatur traffic. ORDER EVERYTHING. I promise you won’t be disappointed. P.S. I can never capture a picture of my sandwiches I order from there because I’m consumed by them and THEN I remember words.

GOOD TO GREAT: Its an amazing thing when passion meets perfection. And thats exactly what you feel when you walk into Buena Gente, Cuban Bakery in Decatur, GA.Cuban coffee.. and of course cubano sandwiches, are a staple of any Cuban bakery. And yet they bring so much more to the table, literally.Empanadas, meat and vegetarian varieties.. coquetas, pastelitos, and other baked goods are on the menu. Then theres the sandwiches, Croqueta Peperada, Medianoche, and an El Viandero Wrap are just a few. Everything, and I mean everything, is made by hand and made fresh.. just no substitutions or modifications, after all, these are traditional family recipes. All in all, its awesome when a dream becomes a reality. And for the owners, Stacie & Manny, who started the whole operation out of a cute and tiny trailer, this is truly the pinnacle of a passion. The great thing is we get to participate.. and you dont have to be Cuban to enjoy it!Do yourself a favor and head on down while the the coffee is hot, the sandwiches are tasty, and the milkshakes are cool! Good people and a great time! 🌴🧡🌴

My new go-to neighborhood coffee spot!! The empanadas are delicious, best in the area for sure! I only wish they did a dairy/animal-free empanada! I make the sacrifice for the spinach empanadas but really would be nice to have the option since another place nearby has one. The coconut pastries are my favorite!! Pastries and empanadas are ALWAYS warm and the coffee hot!! Love that you don’t have to ask to heat something up!! I’ve not tried their vegan wrap since it’s not available until after 11am but I’ve made it my goal each week to try it! One day!I dread Mondays and Tuesdays since they’re closed those days each week! I pray for the day I start a work week with a cortadito!!

The service is pretty sweet, and some of the food here is really good and hits the spot perfectly! Other dishes are not so wonderful. My credentials: I was born and raised in Hialeah, FL (thats a very cuban area of Miami).Heres what I can vouch for so far:Meat Pastry/Pastelito de CarneCuban Coffee (4/5 stars)Medianoche (Absolutely amazing)Heres what I would avoid:Croquetas (They dont quite taste right; the texture is weird.)Tostada (Its not bad, per se, but it doesnt quite taste the same.)Overall its a fine place to eat and kick a craving, but dont expect the real thing.

Delicious- BUT my favorite thing on the menu is the spinach empanadas. I’m vegetarian so I don’t eat meat, this is the only savory veggie option, and it’s out half the time. It’s frustrating because if you have 5+ meat options and only 1 veggie option and it’s sold out a lot- it would be nice to consider the non-meat eaters and make more just to ensure that those that do not eat meat have something to choose. You used to be able to order these online, which would help because I would reserve one before I could get there. But recently they have taken away that option.I can’t be the only one that feels this way since it is always the first one that sold out. Please make more!!

Everyone whos spent more than 5 minutes in (or 15 minutes flying over) South Florida thinks themself a certified Cuban sandwich connoisseur, invoking the quality of The Bread. Having grown up in Miami and having a native-born Cuban stepmother, I never actually ate a Cuban sandwich back home. So, for what its worth, the Cuban sandwich at Buena Gente tastes great, including The Bread. Cafe con leche and arroz con leche are also very good. Special shout-out for the flan, which is perfectly set and not too sweet.

I LOVE CUBAN PASTRIES!Buena Gente where have you been all my life? Growing up in Miami pastelitos were a childhood favorite. I didnt know this gem existed in Atlanta until reading a fellow yelpers review. I was excited to have a little taste of home so I made my way over.Buena Gente is located off Clairmont in the plaza with Ms. Iceys Kitchen and the Po Boy Sandwich shop. I went on a Saturday morning (noonish) and the parking lot is quite busy with the brunch crowd. Due to covid-19, only 6 people are allowed in the bakery at a time so there was a little line but it moved quickly. Masks are required of course.I tried the beef pastelitos and empanadas. YUUUUUUUMY! The beef is well-seasoned and the pastry was perfect. The flavor is so authentic and reminded of being home in Miami. I also decided to try the pollo sandwich. You can tell the Cuban bread was made fresh and with love! They also carry your favorite Caribbean drinks which excited me too. For old times sake, I got a malta and a Jupina (do yourself a favor DONT get the diet one LOL).Everything was GREAT. Ill definitely be putting Beuna Gente in my monthly rotation.

Editing my review because I tried the pastries this morning and was disappointed. The cheese and guava pastelito and cheese pastelito were not good. It seems that they have added shortening to the cream cheese, making it inedible. It leaves a thick layer of grease stuck to the roof of your mouth. I hope they’re able to fix this because they used to be good.Ordered a Cuban sandwich, beef empanada, and a chicken empanada. So great! Also got a guava and cheese pastry for dessert. Delicious! If you can go early, definitely do! They run out of pastries early! (At least since this was written)

The Elena Ruz (sliced turkey, cream cheese, and strawberry preserves on pressed medianoche bread) is incredible! The perfect mix of savory and sweet. Bring something to rinse your hands because it can be a little messy.Pan con bistec - the beef was good, seasoned well (lime and garlic?) and not chewy. And of course the bread is very goodCortadito - sweetened espresso with a dash of steamed milk. It tasted a bit less concentrated than a normal cortado, not because there was more milk, but like the espresso itself was not as concentrated. I dont know if they are long espresso shots or something else, but anyway its a plus for me because it gives me more of a chance to taste everything. I would definitely get it again.Guava pastelito - extremely light, nicely warmed, flaky, the top part tastes a little eggy? Goes well with a coffee*****Theres no seating inside, and 2 tables for 2 or 3 people each outside. The tables clear up fairly quickly though. Btw, the prices are good. Two coffees and one pastelito was only $7 or so (plus tip).Im so glad to have this place nearby. The same strip also has BBQ, po boys, Ethiopian food, ramen, bubble tea, and Korean chicken + craft beer. Come check it out 😎
