Biggest Safeway in Davis. Helpful guy @ the Deli counter! After a long week, it was nice that this was easy!

I would have rated them higher at the beginning of the pandemic when they were actually trying to enforce distancing. They had a one way up and down system and reminders in the intercom to follow it and to be mindful of distancing guidelines.Kind of hard to understand why they would take this away during the worst case numbers of the pandemic.As of late they havent been opening self service checkouts in the morning. I think by 8am /8:30 you should definitely have self service checkouts open.I like to limit my in person interactions as much as possible in stores and I always choose to self checkout when possible, it moves faster and youre not standing face to face with a person, yes they have plexiglass at their checkouts but it doesnt actually cover the payment area. Which is definitely less than 6ft between customer and worker. Aside from that if Im in a store early its because I need to grab something in a hurry. Having self checkouts is much faster than being in a queue down the aisles. Which in turn makes the aisles too crowded for both those trying to find something on a shelf and the ones standing in line blocking said shelves.Aside from all this the store is generally clean, has everything you could want/need, and normally at a better price than some of the other stores in DavisEdit to add that I use the deli here frequently I find it better than the one on covell, and the deli staff are so friendly early in the morning (:

I used to love shopping here, but prices have significantly increased over the past few years (more than Ive noticed at other places) and theyre almost always seems to be a long way to check out. But what really bothers me now is that half the employees dont wear their masks properly--many of them, including the manager that was there the last time I visited wear their masks under their noses. Hello people you can still pass the virus through your nose & we are still in the middle of a pandemic, especially with the Delta variant going around. Employees need to have more respect and courtesy for your customers!!

Clean store, plenty of parking, friendly people, clean bathrooms. All products available. Visit the deli for the chicken wings. Christmas time always provides the Ghirardelli chocolate which i will be sure to purchase after making my morning deposit. Life is good friends. Rejoice!!!

Shopped here for 20 years, spend thousands a month, but now, Im having second thoughts about shopping here again.I was made to feel unwelcome by an employee that approached me, asking if I needed help finding anything.Normally Id think that this was nice, but I didnt see employees approaching any other customers asking them if they needed help find anything.This occurance prevented me from having my normal shopping experience.I cant wear a mask due to asthma, and have the legal right to an equal shopping experience as masked customers.Employees and other customers should educate themselves on the health detriments of mask wearing, and laws.Guidelines and mandates are not laws.

Seems like the old regular nice employees are vanishing, shortly after the vax clinic came to town. The ones who said they got it started getting sick and no longer there

My car died today right in front of one of the store entrances when I was picking up my neighbor after her grocery shopping. A cart attendant politely asked me if I could move my car up a bit so as to not block the entrance. He responded considerately when I told him it wouldnt start. Shortly thereafter, two very thoughtful employees, Jot & Dakota (who I think may be store mgr), came out to see if they could help. Within minutes, they got my car started and I was on my way. I so appreciate their kindness which was above and beyond! Made the inconvenient experience encouraging. The excellent service in this store extends all the way out to the parking lot! Thank you, thank you!

Good deals if you look at the ads, have a club card and don’t mind usually longer checkout lines

This place is way over priced. You have to be not aware of Walmart or a hater of Walmart because it was double the price here.

Very nice in and out not crowded a can get about almost all grocery needs . Good meats, fresh seafood . Deli, floral shop, etc. 👍 🔥 💘 👊

Very nice and helpful employees, store is always super clean and very well organized, if you take the time to shop smart, you will almost always find really great prices on both normal and high quality foods. And they have a dollar shelf with great quality knick knacks for the kitchen! I just LOVE this store!

Very nice Safeway! Great variety of foods and products. I stopped by here because where I was going for work (in Sacramento) are very few Safeway’s. I needed few things and I was glad to find every single thing I needed at this location. Very clean, friendly service (not a usual thing for grocery stores lol) i liked it and I rate it 5 stars! Its there and has food. Its cheaper than Nugget but lacks the polish that such a premium brings. Adequate is a good thing.

Went to the store on Friday and asked someone in meat department about a specific cut of beef. Was told to talk with Kevin the next day so I did. Kevin told me he placed an order and it would be in the following day on the 6am truck. Kevin also said I could ask anybody in the meat department to help me find it. When I came in on Sunday, I spoke with Bob who told me it was not on the truck and did not appear to have any interest in finding a way to get me the product I was looking for. He merely provided excuses for why I would have been told it would be there when it was not actually shipped. For example, Bob said the distribution center must not have had it but could not tell me why Kevin assured me it would be on the truck. Just like so many stores, they are absolutely great when you do not have any need for service. Just dont be fooled into coming back for a product when there is no ownership of the employees to see it through.

The checker (s) are delightfully and refreshingly well mannered younger 20-30 yrs olds who maintain eye contact and smile. And my checker tonight was great and he totally made me feel at home. As j just relocated here. Only thing missing is a pharmacy but theres one next door so Im calling this my go to store...rock on and shine yall cuz we need it!!

Monday morning at 10am, very few customers. No lines at checkout. Quick and easy shopping adventure.

I have difficulty finding the products Im looking for at this location. For whatever reason, they tend to be out of the main product I intended to purchase. This has happened twice during my past three visits.Additionally, prices are generally more expensive than other grocery stores, despite selling identical products. Also prepare to use self checkout, as traditional checkout lanes are usually limited to a single cashier with another eight or nine lanes remaining dormant.

Safeway is Safeway, what can I say. My visit however was quite entertaining. I saw my first brawl over toilet paper there! Two packs per person and the guy had fourteen big packs and when someone said something #BAM!Good times!

Safeway is so clean and organized and the people are so nice and helpful

Appears to be fully stocked, very clean and sanitary, friendly staff and fair prices.

Self checkout has a glitch in the system in which the machine automatically deducted $20 cash back without authorization. Staff did nothing other than say Oh sorry. No this is a giant issue for privacy and personal safety to just act like it was not a big deal. If you shop here you better double check your accounts for unauthorized activity.

Safeway is open till 2am. Mask are required.

Clean and well stocked

Long lines. Staff unaware of where things were in store. Self check out was not working for most customers. I found once the ones who were not ready for the self check were moved I was able to use and finish my shopping without any trouble. Staff were sorry for the wait.

Hated the experience. Staff is rude. Our cashier had attitude towards us. I read all of the outside signs to make sure i could bring my own shopping bag and nothing said I couldn’t. According to our cashier, “it was common sense that I didn’t bring it”. She showed her displeasure with me having my bag on the belt and took her time while looking for gloves. Threw my receipt on top of my groceries and refused to bag our stuff. Why? Will be telling everyone i know not to venture into this one. UNSAT.

Long lines with few open checkstands creating unsafe conditions with blocked aisles and very poor distancing. Doesn’t matter if store is under the number allowed in store is aisles and thoroughfare up front are full of people trying to pay.

Didnt have alot of things I was looking for

Love this store. Great produce and meat departments. Good everyday values and discount specials. When I enjoy carbs the bakery had tasty treats. The deli is nice too. Friendly staff as well.

This Safeway is very nice like the other Safeway. Has a Starbucks and a Deli with great selections of salads, chicken, and other food items such as baked potatoes, chicken salad, and buns. The store is clean and the staff here are amazing.

Meat department sucks. I got packages that suppose to be beef meat. But the content inside was lamb meat.🤮 what a miserable performance department.

Cause its not the liquor store, prices are not great, and they are open until 12 midnight and just got this part back in effect recently 😉

Stopped in at lunch to get some Chinese food. What i got would have been ok if it was hot. The 3 items I got were cold.

I have shopped here before, and the customer service has been good, but recently it has deteriorated. I recently attempted to return two Open Nature lamb shanks that were rancid. The customer service agent said that the product only smelled like blood and that it was not rancid, which is incredibly shocking, given that their job is to accept returns even if they cannot understand the difference between fresh and rancid lamb! I got a gift card, which is good, but the treatment was terrible. Further, my other episode was at the self-checkout part. I was scanning the items when suddenly their system indicated a red light. The agent, without investigating properly, said it was my fault because I had selected something, which I did not; I was simply scanning. After about 30 seconds, there was another red light! Instead of an apology, you get reprimanded. Their job is to rectify their machines, not to blame the customer.

Very easy (as a first timer) to navigate through the aisles for all of my necessities at this Safeway. A sample table was displayed in the back with small servings of cookies today. Local craft bar soap with (infused) essential oils can also be purchased at this location. Enjoyed the shopping experience here & will return for another shopping trip very soon.

Its clean and quiet

Most excellent grocery store. They have what you need and then some. But dont ever go there hungry. Your grocery list will go out the window! From a couple o things to groceries for a week! Stuff just looks so good. But theyve got the best of goods and if they dont, talk to the dept manager, they can order it for you. Overall, its just a pleasant experience.

I have never seen a store so clean and nice. The wokers are helpful and polite too. I will be shopping at this store for now on.

Pretty ok store unless you are shopping for coffee or have to deal with anybody who works outside the deli. I always pray the self checkout is working.

Continues to have great coupons. You can save if you shop correctly. The deli and their Friday specials are great.

Dont know if its just the location and staff but they really lack in customer service.... I get it especially when you need something from their store that they dont make money off of but still like cmon.....

Terrible store. 3 out of every 5 times I go here theres a problem with the self check out registers and today me and a girl in the one next to me were waiting for five min for a staff to come an assist us because the machines locked us out and no one helped us, even after I asked the cashier in the next isle, until finally someone from the bank or customer service place finally unlocked it. I highly recommend one of the three Raleys chains. Theyre so much cleaner and nicer and better goods available especially Nuggets. Avoid this place as much as possible

It has everything and a great staff.

I had the worst experience at Safeway. Their customer service booth was empty for 45 minutes. I wanted a service that can only be done by customer service booth staff. When I asked one of the staff as to when someone will be available, she treated me with disrespect. The staff have little or no regard for customers. Sometime in the past I had worked at Whole Foods Market, the service at Safeway is utterly abominable as compared to service at Whole Foods. Safeway staff need a serious training in customer service and ethics.

Good store.. A couple of flaws:1.. its a college town and in the fall in the students come back that weekend the store looks like it was looted- shelves half empty frozen food 2/3 gone etc. The surge of business overwhelms the computer replenishment models. There ought to be a way to cure this.2.bskery.... they do a good job but they must cook everything by the book instead of checking that its done. The pumpkin pies are always 10 minutes away from being properly cooked I just finished eating a piece of one with undercooked crust that tasted like flour. its easy to say when a custard or pumpkin pie is done because it pulls away from the crust around the edges and the rim of the crust is light brown instead of white

Like shopping here. If you come at the wrong time of day, the self line can be a steady cut in line.

Their self-check frequently meets technical problems, but you cant deny that it’s a good food market in general. Pork quality is only acceptable, but chicken chest is good. Some vegetable such as green pepper are more expensive than Trader Joes, so you need to compare by yourself. However, it provides much more types of food than TJ’s.

Its very conveniently located, and open 24 hours. Theres this one guy who works the late shift who is totally awesome. Some things inside close down late, but I can understand it. Self checkout makes it pretty quick

Plus and minuses for this. I appreciate that they are a union employer and that many of their stores are open 24 hours. On the other hand, their goods are often of miserable quantity: just about the worst rotisserie chicken Ive bought, for example. Their ambient music is likewise dismal.

I thought that I had lost my wallet in the store, actually that somebody had stolen it. Once I went to pay for my large amount of groceries that had been rung up and bagged for me, I realized my wallet wasnt in my purse. I ran home to check for it there even, however I could not find it. Safeway paid for my entire $119 amount of groceries and even helped me to my car and made sure that they were going to watch the cameras in order to see if a person did steal my wallet. Thank you so much Safeway
