I got my first fly rod as a surprise Christmas gift from an old buddy. Stopped in the shop to poke around, and have been going back ever since! Cody and the sales staff are the best and really took the time to educate me (knowing I wasn’t/ can’t spend much).Really great group of people, great selection. Free beginner lessons for fly tying and fly casting! Just the best place I have found, and I always look for an excuse to swing by now! Highly recommend it.

We Im prejudiced I wear a lot of Orvis and Barbour products. Great quality and their style is never out of style!!! In the heart of Dallas Orvis makes you dream of bagging some upland game or landing a trout in a bubbling mountain stream with a smiling chocolate Lab by your side.

I recently had my 25 year old Barbour jacket cleaned and reproofed. The jacket looks fantastic. Cody and the Orvis Preston Center store took care of all the details, shipping, etc. He went above and beyond in providing excellent service!

Ive read the negative reviews, and I can 100% relate.I know that what Im about to state, sounds pretentious, however its the truth.Im a mid 30s millionaire, and was visiting Dallas for the day. Popped into the store, where I felt I was being profiled immediately. It was strange. Im generally a quiet shopper, who doesnt like to be bothered. I usually know what Im looking for, but sometimes enjoy browsing. I do Not like having a sales pitch without asking for one. I do not like to talk. There were 2 gentlemen In the store who insisted on badgering me and pushing things upon me, without me asking......and thats extremely annoying.It was a weird overall experience.At First, I felt unwelcomed, but then quickly overly welcomed to the point of shopping quick, and leaving.Im certain that its my quiet, down dressed demeanor that had them puzzled.The point Im making, is the sales staff should treat EVERYONE as if They could buy the whole store in the blink of an eye. These people have some learning to do.

I have been in the store three times now and have not been greeted or helped by an employee once. I am a college student so I feel like they look past me because of my age and help other customers instead: even if they have come in after me. If it wasnt the only place to get flies Id take my business elsewhere

Good store for clothing. They have some fly tying stuff but not as much as I imagined. Pretty pricy on clothing but not too bad on fly gear tying materials. I found a lot of things did not have a price tag on them which means if you have to ask it is probably too much for you. I could definitely tell I was out of place. Overall I recommend going there. The help was great. It is a very nice place to pick up some cloths if you have the cash and try somewhere else if you want a bigger selection of fly tying materials.

Both negative reviews I have seen for this store mention that the reviewer was ignored or disrespected due to age and/or percieved financial status. While I cannot speak to the experience of those reviewers, I can certainly say that I am younger and probably have less money than the stereotypical fly fisherman. Every experience I have had with Orvis and its employees has been amazing. The employees and management staff have always been attentive and helpful, and every question I have ever asked has been answered thoroughly. The two employees I have interacted with the most are Gabe and Don. Both of them have been a massively helpful resource in building my knowledge and passion of the sport of fly fishing, and they have never failed to go above and beyond to help me with whatever Ive needed. Regardless of whether I am making a purchase or just trying to kill some time, I have always felt welcome at Orvis.

I am new to fly fishing and did a lot of research on what fly rod and reel to purchase. I decided to go with an Orvis Clearwater set up. I had a pleasant experience with the person at the time of my purchase. I decided to buy after testing it and to my surprise when I got home, they had sold me a used rod. I didn’t check it in the store as they guy said, let me go get you a new one in the case and now know I should have checked it out in the store. I called and explained what had happened, they said they would exchange it. That is good but the problem is that I live 60 miles away so they said mail it in. Ok, so I asked if I had to pay for the shipping, the answer was yes but include the receipt for the shipping and it was up to the manager if I was reimbursed. First off I asked to speak to the manager and was informed I was speaking with the manager but apparently not.I decided to just go in, so they replaced the rod but no apology, no offer of anything for my time or gas to get there. I even expressed my frustration with the situation and how much of an inconvenience it was. What happened to customer service, especially when a mistake is made. Needless to say the overall experience was terrible. I will not be doing any business with them again. I have found another fly shop in Dallas (Tailwaters fly fishing co) that knows customer service and carries quality gear.

My boyfriend & I are from out of town & we were looking around and asked an older gentlemen a question about fly products. During our conversation another gentlemen walked up and the orvis employee completely blew us off and didnt say anything to us. He was very rude and he went to help the high paying customer the reason I say that is because I heard him on the phone tell another employee that. We are young college students, and our money spends the exact same as the older gentlemans. I felt disrespected and it was poor customer service. I have never experienced such horrible customer service!Contacted manager of the store & the response time was within a week & the situation was resolved. The manager was apologetic & sincere.
