Summary: This shop is unprofessional and outright lied about the work they did to my car. When I raised it with them, they refused to correct the issue and threatened legal action. When I raised it with my credit card company and was given a credit due to fraudulent service, the company issued a re-bill and tried to charge me again.I took my car here for some basic maintenance. It hadn’t been driven for a while, so I knew it needed some work. They recommended a standard 90k servicing, which I agreed to and sounded reasonable, given what I know about the car. I picked it up, and the car sounded better and felt smoother. However, I took the car on a short road trip and only 5 days after I got the car back, the check engine light came on.What I hadn’t realized was that there were issues with how the oil change had been done - they grossly overfilled the oil tank, and didn’t seal it properly, so the engine was burning leaking oil for the entirety of my drive, and ended up ruining an O2 sensor in the exhaust system, which cost more to fix than the original service. I wasn’t close enough to bring the car back to this shop to have the work fixed by them, so unfortunately had to pay an extra $600 to have the sensor replaced by a different mechanic. He also advised me that it looked like a lot of the work that should have been done for a 90K servicing simply hadn’t been done at all - power steering fluid, brake fluid, brake adjustment, tires, etc.I called the shop multiple times both during the sensor repair and then after I returned to Dallas to try to find out what they could do, but it took me 3 weeks and 5 trips to the shop to even speak to a manager, even after I asked when he would be available, left my contact information, and asked to make an appointment. When I finally did get in touch, he accused me of lying (despite the paperwork I brought him from the other shop), refused to fix the problem, and then told me that the shop would somehow try to make a legal financial claim on my car and take me to court if I disputed the charge with my credit card company.At this point, I took the car to another well-reviewed and high-end mechanic shop in Dallas to get a second opinion. They confirmed, in writing, that there’s no way the adjustments, fluids, tires, or other basic maintenance that should have been done for a 90k servicing was completed a month ago when I took this car to Master Mechanics. I’m left to understand that Master Mechanics charged me $500 for a “90K Service” that was actually just a botched oil change, and that they refused to fix it, and then tried to re-charge me after my credit card company determined that i shouldn’t have been charged for the service to begin with.Long story short, I’d recommend YouTube DIY videos over these guys.

If you notice a common theme amongst the reviews, theres a reason. I didnt check any reviews prior to having them do the required inspection to register my car in TX, but I shouldve. I failed the initial inspection because my tires didnt meet the minimum tread requirement so I was told I needed 4 new tires at a cost of $1400. Only problem is, I replaced the rear tires 2 years ago and have plenty of tread left. When I asked him to show me, he showed me the front tires, which admittedly needed to be replaced. I asked him why he was quoting all 4 and he replied that it was because he needed to put the car on a lift so that he could see the bottom of the rears in order to be sure they had sufficient tread. Keep in mind, you can clearly see the tread on 80-90% of the tires on the rear. Since I could clearly see that he was running a con, I asked him to put it up on the lift and show me, which obviously he refused to do. I went and bought 2 new front tires elsewhere and brought it back to him and it passed the inspection just fine. Imagine my lack of surprise when I read some reviews after the fact and saw that this is their go-to move. Not a big deal in the end since these inspections only cost $25, but hopefully this helps someone avoid a much costlier mistake.

Master Mechanics is aptly named. These guys gave me great service, worked with my budget and took care of my truck like it was their own. They’re very friendly and straight forward and got me back on the road same-day. AND I was a walk-in customer. Awesome work. I’m very pleased and will recommend them highly to anyone. Thanks guys!

Paid $4200 for repairs to the front end of my vehicle. Found out today Master Mechanics didn’t install the core support or supply me with a new bumper per their estimate. Instead, their team, improperly reinstalled the previous bumper fixed with bondo and did not actually match the body lines of the vehicle causing another $1500 of repairs.

They patched my tire *on a holiday weekend* in less than 10 minutes and for only $21!! The woman at the counter, and the service guys, were all so nice and helpful. I will only use Master Mechanics for all auto maintenance going forward.

After telling the guy in the front counter To give me keys back because he told me my tires did not pass I told him to give me my key back and he did not also they charged me for a service I did not want also he tried to charge 260$ for state inspection Thank god it was only 27$ They stole my money dishonest trash of customer service. I don’t usually post reviews unless the service is completely horrible and or unless I was wronged. I went in to get an Oil Change, very simple, very standard.. the next day my check engine light came back on and “check car stability” warning sign. Concerned I went back and asked if they could just check if they didn’t bump something or loosen something under the Hood. The owner/manager said it would be 89$ to check. Just to Take a quick 30 sec glance? Really?? The next day my car turned off as I was driving and breaks DID NOT WORK.. I had my girlfriend and her kids in the car, safety is my #1 priority. Apparently not to Master Mechanics. I took my 2015 Toyota Camry to my Dealership, apparently a tube that brings air flow to my engine was disconnected and my battery was cracked. My car is mostly electric, breaks, power steering, etc.. my car isn’t old so they stated that everything looked intentional. My dealership Cowboy Toyota (who I was scared of over charging me) did not charge me a thing, i did get a new battery. No labor. Guys DO NOT GO HERE.

Im actually kind of shocked to see some of these reviews. I never had an issue. Ive used these guys for tire rotation, new tires (that they rotate for free), oil changes, new wipers, etc. I never had an issue. Im actually headed there in a few minutes to see if they can do a car inspection for me.

I just picked up my car and am happy to have it back in working order. This place did a great job on figuring out the issue and getting my car fixed in a timely manner without gouging me with the bill. Very reliable and fair priced. Even though they were short staffed, they worked overtime to ensure good service for their customers.

Very good business ethics. I brought an old rust bucket in from out of state. I live in my van and explained the immediacy of my needs to have it done quickly. The owner didnt have the required materials to work on my decaying vehicle but promptly called up a mechanic friend and sent me there to have the work I needed done. That level of care for someone is worth 5 stars in my book. His friend took care of me for $50. Another shop I called quoted me $200 and said Id have to wait until Tuesday. Couldnt be more grateful.

I have brought my car here 3 or 4 times now and its just gotten the best service I could hope for! John helped me pass inspection on an old 99 and improve how it runs for my delivery job in the area. Getting the right parts and preventing breakdowns from fixing up wear and tear were all made super easy. Plus they do the best alignments Ive ever seen ^_^ A huge thank you to these guys who go above and beyond!

Dont come to this place they dont know what they are talking about took my car in and told me it was my starter which I held replaced already and after I replaced it again it still didnt turn on and they said they had replaced some wires which I said to show me and they couldnt they just want to take your money charged me 450$ for my car to do the same thing I took it up there for and they denied anything dont come here just a waste of time

Regarding the response to Nick Foremans review: 1) My phone is not always busy. If you did not reach my voice mail, you were not calling the right number. 2) I did not receive a voice mail nor a text from you on October 17, nor on any other day after the first few days following the wreck. 3) It is not good business to put down a customer who has given you a bad review out of anger. You certainly have a right to disagree and refute that review, but you wont win any friends by being spiteful to them. (I highly recommend Dale Carnegies How to Win Friends and Influence People.)

Ive probably left maybe two reviews in my lifetime but this place definitely deserves one for their horrible treatment and IF i can divert one person from coming to this place than I have done my job. I came into Master Mechanics to have my breaks fixed. I dont know alot about cars so I told the guy at the counter that I need new breaks and if theres anything else that needs to be worked on let me know and I will give you the go ahead to work on that part as well. The mechanic calls me and tells me that I need new breaks (both front and back), a 90K service (which he failed to inform me what that means), and a new lock on my driverside door (he said he would order the part and work on it whenever the part comes in). I gave him the approval for new breaks, the 90K, and ordering the part to work on later. This past saturday I got my car back after I dropped it off on friday and I drove maybe two seconds off the lot and I noticed a grinding sound when I was accelerating and breaking. I thought ignorantly that it would wear off but instead it continued to get worse as my car heated up. I tried to call the shop and I talked to John right before they closed on saturday and said that he told me that it was probably the old rotors (I asked the shop when i came in to REPLACE and FIX anything that needed to be replaced) and to bring the car in on monday and we will get you new ones (which means that he would charge me for new rotors and add to the 850$ labor bill that he hit me with already for the breaks (600$) and the door lock(250&) that HE NEVER WORKED ON OR RECEIVED MY CONSENT ABOUT). This morning I went back to the shop to talk to another mechanic and he said he cant do anything for me because John isnt here (John told me to come in first thing in the morning on monday). I immediately took my car over to NTB because I am done dealing with these people. When I got to NTB the mechanic said that they didnt even rotate your tires or anything. Anyways, Master Mechanics made my car alot worse than it was and then charged me in advance for labor that i never gave them consent about. Really? you dont even know how long its going to take you to take apart a door and you charge me. DONT GO TO THIS PLACE PLEASE!

Just happened to go here today because the Valvoline on Gaston I usually go to for oil changes and inspections was closed due to power outage. The best service I have probably ever received from an auto mechanic. Took time and explained everything in detail and did not pressure me to get any extra work that was recommended done today. This is a huge plus being a young woman who knows little about auto work. Ill be coming back here from now on. The owner and person who did inspection were helpful and professional. Dont be fooled by the exterior (or interior ha), this is a great business.

Even better, there were no surprises on the bill. The owner actually charged me less than the original estimate! We wont take our cars anywhere else.

I dont appreciate Roger the person that is suppose to be in charge to LIE! And he did I visited the location on 08/13/15 simply looking for a price quote on some tires. He stated he found me a great deal on some tires and the price was reasonable and also stated he would include a oil change I explained to him my time frame and stated he could accommodate me I was leaving to go out of town it was my birthday today, so I cancelled my other appointments for tires/oil change. Well I got to master mechanics at 8:00an as I stated I would and a guy arrived I waited until get everything going and I approached him and told him everything that Roger had promised well he stated I cant do anything until 10:00am and Roger I called him and he stated I wont be there until 10:00am and he stated he would have my tires then, so I just wanted to know a business that opens up at 8:00am cant do anything until 10:00am to conclude I did not like the dishonesty I will never go back and I dont know how they stay in business. I am disappointed because I am not able to take my trip and my birthday is RUINED! THANKS ROGER for all your lies.I am glad I did not leave a deposit.

Came to get my water pump replaced here since Firestone gave me an estimate of 3 days to do work. I got car back in 4 hours in perfect condition. They are fast and reliable only thing is they need to get cups for the water machine.

Ive been coming to Master Mechanics since I first moved to Dallas in 2009. John and his crew are by hands down the best Ive worked with. Before choosing these guys I shopped around and spoke to the mechanics at other outfits, and I learned so quickly that they are just trying to make that quick dollar or say additional things are wrong with the vehicle that adds cost making it a financial burden on the customer. Like I said, I have been coming here for a long time with several different cars that have been worked on through the years. Everything that I have needed has always been done in the most professional way and one of the main things that sticks out to me is the awareness of the employees. They know we dont want to be there to get whatever fixed on our vehicle, but the back end customer service of making sure they are doing whats best for the client at the cheapest cost possible while using the best quality equipment/parts on the market. I would never take my car anywhere else!! As crazy as it sounds my parents from Houston always drop by the shop on their way out just to get a quick look just to make sure things are running smoothly. Im customer for life!I remember in 2012 I totaled my vehicle in Houston, TX. I called these guys and after telling them what happened they actually drove down to Houston from Dallas in a tow truck to tow my car back just to save me hundreds of dollars. AT NO COST! Plain and simple, these guys care about us the customer. They dont give you cheesy selling gimmicks trying to up sale the situation. With the contacts they have in the industry and the service they provide I would never go anywhere else. Every single one of my friends now go to these guys. I even go and stop by every time Im in the area and it feels like Im a VIP customer. They know me by name, and actually take the time to check out my vehicle on a drop in basis just to make sure its running smoothly and if they see something like needing to be topped off with coolant or oil they just go ahead and do it. I have not experienced that anywhere else. These guys are great

They tried to charge me $900 for unneeded repairs to pass inspection. Took it to the dealership and it passed inspection no problem.

Overcharged me to put in a starter, tried to compensate by offering me an oil change. Had to come back and have starter replaced again, supposedly the part was bad. Went elsewhere for my next oil change and they had cross threaded the oil plug. Took it back to Master Mechanics to see if they would make right. He didn’t document the oil change so they refused to fix it without charging me. Shady business practices. Don’t believe the good reviews, that was very much the opposite of my experience.

These guys really do try to help you. And they try to find the root of the problem. I still have some squeaky brakes they cant figure out, but they did help me fix a problem that could have cost me way more money if they didnt do research to find out the real problem. I have used them about 4 times in the past year. Love them!

Took my car to have a list of things done and they gave me a quote for everything... Kept my car for 1 week i hadnt heard anything i called to get an update they had not even touched car.. Another week goes by i call again they said car was done i get there and they only fixed 2 things and told me that they really didnt think other things needed to be done. Ive used them alot over the last 2 years with multiple vehicles after this i will not return wheel sounds like its going to fall off and if a customer says they want something replaced you do it.. Last but not least when taking on a job either you fix everything or you fix nothing at all you dont pick and choose what you want to do.

I was just driving through Dallas, and a friend told me about this place. When I came in the Manager was very nice. I went in needing both an oil change and an alignment. He did not try to upsell me on something I didnt need. He explained each process, I felt like he was concerned about my safety. They even checked my tires to make sure they were within limits, and they were. I am glad I went here, if there are any negative reviews, it is because the person probably came in with a bad attitude. All of the people that I met were very nice and informative.

Brought my car here last year to take care of a low/flat tire. They tightened the lugnuts too tight and when I tried to bring it in they started mocking me. Dont expect them to actually honor a warranty either from any other Goodyear. Will never be coming here again.

These guys lie. Brought my truck in for inspection. They failed it. Brought it back on the 14th day for reinspection. They claimed no one was there to reinspect it. Since it was about to be out of the free period for reinspection I asked if they would still do it for free if I brought it back the next Saturday. They said yes. I brought it back the next Saturday and they said I had to pay them again. Watch out for these guys. Id advise you to stay away.

Im from memphis my truck broke down a month ago in dallas when visiting dallas... I had it towed to master mechanics from the jump mr john and staff were completely professional and helpful... I came back home to memphis and he worked with me stayed in contact and fixed my truck the best service ive had by far... These guys are angels thank u so much..great service

These people are lires and cheats, they use used parts and charge you for new parts, all the work that they ever did on my truck, mud sisters car, and her boyfriends car all had to be redone, roger will quote you a price but when it comes to check out the owner will convinently forget and try to charge you more, master mechanics is a scam do not go here. I am currently filing a lawsuit, aswell as a petition to shut these con artists down.

The staff was very helpful and accommodating even though it was snowing and icy. They are renovating so the interior isnt great, but the staff made up for it.

Worst experience ever and still going.... I was in a wreck back in August and just got my truck back yesterday 11-3-17... Now in the shops defence I did have my phone shut off for a couple weeks in which time they said they had been trying to get ahold of me.. but when I asked them why they didnt call my mom (who I share the insurance policy with) they said they got no response from her either... Uh huh... Whatever... So having had my truck for 3months natuarlly I was excited to finally get it home and thats where I found something still wrong with the front axle (grease everywhere) scratches all over what I was told where new parts,and property stolen from me from inside the cab...someone had obviously spent a lot of time in the passenger seat... Having run my truck out of diesel twice and then charged me for it youd think they wouldve found the problem with the used axle and other suspension parts they put on .. and just an idea but I wouldve maybe done the body work after the mechanic work was done so all those misc. Scratches on the new parts and the grille emblem (looked like itd been drug across the ground) could have been taken care of before I picked it up

Could not complete tire mounting/balancing. Lied twice, charged up front and would not give refund for the incomplete job.SUMMARY:I went in to have tires mounted and balanced, and after revisiting literally 5 times with various issues they caused, I was left with a damaged tire pressure sensor, dangerously unbalanced tires, weights scraping against brake calipers, and not a penny refunded. They admitted they couldnt do it and told me to go somewhere else instead. Heres how far off the weights were (0% is a balanced tire):Driver rear --> wrong by 44%Passenger rear --> wrong by 29%Driver front --> wrong by -20%Passenger front --> wrong by 29%ISSUES:On the phone they quoted $80 for mounting and balancing. In person, the manager asked for $100. There was no wait, I accepted anyway.Once they got the car on the lift, it took almost 2 hours to finish. Discount Tire does it in less than 20 minutes.As soon as I drove off the lot, the TPMS light came on. I checked the pressures, found them all over the place. One was 19, another was over 55psi. I drove back for the first revisit.After the pressures were correct, I drove to the highway and had some vibration in the steering wheel. Two days later I brought it back for the 2nd revisit.They admitted their balance machine hadnt been working, but it would be repaired in a week. They added 5 psi to all tires to try to kill the TPMS warning. It did not work. A week later I came back for the 3rd revisit.On returning, they rebalanced the tires, inspected the pressure sensors, and didnt find anything wrong. I left, immediately drove it on the highway, and felt fairly violent shaking as if theyd forgotten to tighten the lug nuts. I checked, the lug nuts were fine, so I brought it back for the 4th revisit.They rebalanced the tires again, checked the TPMS again, and again found nothing wrong. As soon as I drove it off the lot, there was a brief scraping sound coming from the wheel (I would later discover this was an ill-placed weight scraping on the brake caliper). Violent shaking on the highway was still there. I drove back for the 5th revisit.They told me they couldnt help any further and told me Discount Tire balances tires for free. They dont.All I got was them yelling Sorry! as I left. No refund, but they tried to offer an oil change credit instead.Went to Discount Tire and they had all the vibration taken out and found the broken pressure sensor in less than 20 minutes.Master Mechanics needs an overhaul. Not worth the risk; take your car somewhere else.

Master Mechanics #1 installed a radiator 4 months ago (charging me 800 when they told me it would cost 400) - they were close and I couldnt drive further to my preferred mechanic. Since then I have had them do an oil change and check fluid levels 4 weeks ago. After the freeze in Dallas this weekend, here I sit with a frozen motor, frozen hoses, frozen radiator, and a total loss on my engine due to them installing water instead of coolant (for which they charged me). The repair will cost $4,000-5,000 to fix. I spoke to the part-owner and manager, John, about the situation and his response was that there was no way for me to prove that he was the last to install the coolant. He said he would help to fix the car but it would be at my expense. Since my insurance does not cover damages incurred by faulty service by a mechanic, I am now without a vehicle with no recourse of action but to inform the community and my friends about my experience and to pursue legal action for the loss. Since Master Mechanics does like to refute reviews here, Id like to say to them that it doesnt matter how nice and polite you are, you provide poor service and are unprepared to correct your mistakes.

Took the car in to get it inspected. The mechanic said I needed new back brakes and new front brakes said they would be glad to fix them up and get the car inspected. I took my car to get a second opinion and the car did not need new brakes at all.I hate places that try to scam customers

Really know how to take care of the cars that come in I was in and out within a few hours for a new radiator and an oil change . Will be coming again in the future.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Went in to get an oil change, these mechanics damaged the oil filter system resulting in hundreds of dollars in maintenance. Literally take your car ANYWHERE else.

Was driving a rental car and was referred here because the tires were low. The mechanic stopped what he was working on, checked and filled all the tires, and I was on my way in no time! If I lived here, Id certainly bring my cars to Master Mechanics.
