I loved being at this coffee shop so much π. If only I didnβt also have all of my luggage with me... but no matter. It was an experience.I have to tread carefully with my description. There was a heavy pretentiousness pervading the Shop, but not in the way Iβve experienced it before. Everyone was so nice and willing to have a conversation and share a smile. But there was also this implicit waiting that everyone seemed to accept as normal. Every coffee drink was about 100% longer to prepare then the average of any cafe Iβve ever been to. I think the pretense was simply the expectation of perfection and craftsmanship. All aspects of the process were transparent- the bar, the kitchen, the roaster, the packaging. Everything could be inspected and scrutinized by anyone. All drinks were served in glass save the filter coffee which was presented in a glass carafe with a ceramic mug (no handle, thick walls, wide mouth).I need to go back!
I can only speak as a remote customer, but this place (and the customer service) is fantastic. The coffee is extraordinaryβ¦these folks obviously love what they do. And I had an issue with my delivery order due to issues beyond their control, nevertheless they made sure I was well taken care of and I cannot recommend these guys enough!!
Really kind woman helped us at the counter. People were patient with me. Space is open and feels freeing. More charging spaces would be nice as I had arrived from an international flight. I like the to go glass policy. The product was great -as far as coffee goes. I did not like the cookies. Odd use of espresso machines- that could be a little more organized.
Cool hip coffee place with great coffee and a small selection of pastries and βbowlsβ with fruit or veggies. Itβs on a side street in a driveway so if u donβt look for it u wonβt see it. Poached Eggs were amazing. The croissant not so. But would for sure come again when in the area. Great vibe and nice people.
This place is to die for. We went with my wife and kids. Got two chicken tikka wraps, Veggie samosa, and mango yougurt drink. Simply amazing. It really hit every taste bud. Service and condiments were equally exceptional. We were planning on takeout. Told the owner how I cant wait to dine in person and he offered to put seats outside for me. Simply amazing. Cares about his customers. Food quality is so good I am currently drooling as I think about it. If you want Indian food in the valley this is the place to get it.
-1 point for not having oat milk.Their granola was served like an avant-garde modern painting and tasted more healthy than enjoyable but it did leave me feeling pretty good. Depends whether its your idea of a good time. Being brutally honest I feel like these guys are trying too hard to be different instead of having tasty offerings. Still a great place though.
I like the atmosphere very much because it helps me to relax. Since Im a coffee lover, Ive got this favorite coffee shop and they sell fantastic coffee at an affordable price.
Some of the best coffee iβve ever had! The staff is absolutely wonderful. I would highly recommend.
As the hidden gem of Culver City, Bar Nine sits on all of LAs Best Coffee Shops lists for good reason. With an expertly trained barista staff, premiere equipment, and a one-of-a-kind Modbar, Bar Nine is both an extraordinary roaster and phenomenal coffee shop to visit. Ample seating with small pocket workspaces add to the atmosphere and vibe. Theyve recently introduced an in-house food menu, serving extraordinary breakfast dishes tailored for LA foodies. It may be hidden from the heart of Culver City, but that element of intrigue just further adds to the persona of Bar Nine.
Bar 9 is responsible for half of my cup cabinet, take that as you will.Consistently good coffee, seasonal roasts, and environmentally friendly cups. You love to see it.
All about quality, not only with their ingredients of every single thing they do but as well on they process every step to make it all perfect. The cheese pastry was delightful.Incredible coffee, fantastic tea...Very bring is delicious in a city where deliciousness doesnβt come across so easily.Do not miss it.Plus itβs really cool the interior, they care in every single detail!
Great coffee and even better service. Just wish they had more selection of coffees for pour overs. I love it!
Hands down the best place for coffee lovers in California. My must-go destination whenever Im on my business trip to LA. Knowledgeable staff, laidback atmosphere, amazing roasting, nice food selection. All-time favourite.
Cool place. This would be a cool date spot. Clean and the interior and decorations were aesthetically pleasing. As for the food quality and service, Id gotta say this place was a bit expensive. Though worth it because they have enough seating, and the food, coffee, and pastries are great. Id be willing to try again.
Great coffee, great staff, great afternoon treat! The ambiance was very nice, we did not stay to drink our coffee we took it on the go, but I could see how it would be a very nice place to sit and drink your coffee and visit with friends or read. We will come back and recommend the coffee shop to my friends.
Id be into this place, if it were like afairly priced, underground cafe. It seems hidden as an empty warehouse with a few random folks chilling in the lot in patio chairs. There are crates with pieces of plywood attached that you can turn into table and chairs. Or you can sit on the single random bleachers or the randomly placed strip bar inside. However, approach the counter and youll encounter a bill of $6 for a cup of coffee, comparable for a cup of tea. Their sell point is beans roasted on site and individually brewed in pour overs. I brew In a chemex pour over at home, and an 8 cup pot made from organic beans cost me less than a dollar. Their lattes and hazelnut milk are disappointing, honestly. They dont taste like much more than sourness.Plus wifi connection is slower than expected. This would be such a cool concept, if it were geared toward artists and communities into great coffee, instead of being part of the gentrification of Culver City. The one things I havent tried is the cupping on sundays at noon. (Free coffee tasting). This seems worth checking out if youre thinking about investing in their coffee.
Had the chai tea with oatmilk and a shot of espresso. Delicious.
This place is amazing for the coffee, sweets and staff. I dont follow a vegan diet and the sweets were better than most non-vegan sweets. The coffee is also some of the best Ive ever had- and strong!Bar Nine.
Espresso is really delicious and the reusable jar is a nice touch. A bit more expensive than other 3rd wave shops, but nevertheless worth trying.
As a chef looking for the best flavors all around me, bar 9 has the best coffees. The team is super knowledgeable about their products and greet guests with great hospitality. Not only are their coffees great, their vegan centric small bites and pastries are a must!
My favorite breakfast burrito in LA with the added avocado! We also tried their croissant and the lattes were wonderful with just the right amount of sweetness. 5 starQuality of food was fantastic, and a lot of people carry out so its not difficult to find a place to sit!
Im not a big coffee person (due to how my body reacts to it, though I can appreciate good quality coffee), but if I was, Id consider this spot a local favorite.I had some tea, and it was absolutely delicious. Way better than most oolong Ive had.Inconspicuous signage on a small residential street in a part of Culver City that has lots of warehouses. The decor fits in with the area. Its a minimalist warehouse with hipsters (including glass jars as to go cups. Sounds ridiculous but its really helpful in preventing waste and spillage. Just make sure you get a lid) and coffee gadgets. Relaxed and laid back feel. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. The menu is small, but selection rotates, and all of what they have is very high quality and well made. They roast beans on site. Some of the best smelling coffee Ive come across.Easy to miss, but if you find it, youll be rewarded with delicious coffee and tea.
βThey also are the only place that offers house made hazelnut milk as their only nut milk alternative .βMitchell and Zayde were incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastically explained everything I wanted to know. βIf you have time, you should definitely attend the free cuppings (coffee tastings) on Sundays.
My favorite breakfast burrito in LA with the added avocado! We also tried their croissant and the lattes were wonderful with just the right amount of sweetness. 5 starQuality of food was fantastic, and a lot of people carry out so its not difficult to find a place to sit!
An amazingly hip, hidden and open coffee bar with delicious offerings. I paid $9 for an exotic cup of coffee (which was one of most expensive options), but it was totally worth it to me. This is an ideal spot to meet-up with friends, discuss projects with colleagues or complete some weekend passion project.
Order online for easy curbside pickup. Deliciously thick and flavorful coffee.
I ate and drank so fast I realized how much I enjoyed the decadence Timeless offers. Apple walnut cake is moist and perfectly yummy and the espresso runs smooth and sweet to compliment your experience.
I knew I had to give this place a try after seeing a picture of the Birthday Cake Latte.Bar Nine Cafe offers a big variety of caffeinated drinks from Green Tea Lattes, to Lavender Soy, to Cookie Monster Lattes. The possibilities here are endless and its every coffee lovers dream come true
Best coffee in all of southern California! Positive and upbeat atmosphere. A gem in Culter City.
The atmosphere is fantastic with an amazing nice staff and some really great coffee! I would definitely come again.
Neighborhood and street parking. Spacious. Prices are a bit above average but all drinks and food are of the highest quality.Side note I feel cool when Iβm in here, like I wear my best boots and designer jacket and pretend to be hip.
I love the minimalist ambiance of the place. They also have a very delicious coffee and pastries. Come and try!
This place is great. The food tastes great and they give you a lot. It was delicious!!
Definitely a third wave experience. More than one espresso option. I believe they were a blend and an SO. I tried an Ethiopia in both espresso and pour over. They were also offering more than one Gesha varietal in whole bean. That kind of captures the overall quality of beans here. Although the staff were well trained and friendly, the physical ambience of the place is oddly cold and sterile, but that wont keep me from enjoying their fine coffee again.
All about quality, not only with their ingredients of every single thing they do but as well on they process every step to make it all perfect.
As I travel around different areas, I try to hunt out the best espresso shops. Im mostly disappointed by hipster trendiness paired with suburban shots. Not here. Bar 9 is perfect. I always test with a simple cappuccino. And although it was more milk than foam, the flavor was 100% perfect. The steep $5 charge helps to pay for a living wage for its employees. Im glad to help out.Highly recommended.
Very good coffee. Nice aesthetic to the place. Not the most comfortable hang out spot, but good for a short meet up
Excellent products; roasting on site. Hipster vibes and hip latte art along with WiFi and an outdoor seating area will keep you coming back for more. Polite service in a minimalist establishment. I recommend the granola bowl and a regular latte! Perhaps some more art on the walls and a few more seats would do them some good.
They have outdoor seating too to enjoy the weather. And of course quite affordable.
The cappuccinos were wonderful too! And very well priced.Love the place, decor is very cool.
The coffee and the place is a perfect match. I always come here to relax. You should come too!
Nice place for a good cup of coffee with a good sweet cake. Recommended.
Now this place use to be good and a fun place to go and chill, have dome coffee and read, draw, work, etc... Lately just dirty all the time, what happened guys? Will edit review when someone cleans this dump up...
Best pour over Ive had in months, outstanding! Cappuccino was too strong (cup too small vs pull size) and the avocado toast, while delicious, was pre-made and the toast was cold, clammy, and tough. Would go back tho, now I know what/how to order.
I LOVE this place. First of all, the COFFEE, the COFFEE is simply delicious!
Very nice ambiance, cozy interior well placed seating, comfortable chairs, friendly staff, good food and great coffee Menu well planned to suit everybodys taste.
I write for a music and coffee blog called Crooners In Coffeeshops, in which I interview local musicians at local coffeeshops. My writeup reflects the positive experience that I encountered at Bar Nine on our interview date.Hidden in Culver Citys Hayden Tract lies the modern, industrial Bar Nine. Housed inside a hulking warehouse, you would never think that the space was an ex-food truck commissary kitchen from its sleek yet slightly rustic decor and an impressive, state-of-the-art Modbar espresso system to brew all of your caffeinated desires. Ample, organized seating inside is perfect for those who enjoy working with the scent of fresh brewed coffee kissing their nostrils while the front patio area is great for larger groups or to just soak up some rays.Bar Nines menu of classic brews and decently sized pastries paired with seasonal specials gives visitors a chance to opt for something new. I myself chose to go with their featured in house specials called the Matitui, a Colombian blend infused with sweet brown sugar, crisp green apples and a hint of fresh floral, with hazelnut milk. Good God did it hit the spot! Sometimes theres nothing better in life than fresh brewed coffee poured into a reusable glass mason jar.
Modern, small batch, with an attention paid to precision. Extremely ethical and green business worth supporting. Nice space inside, but parking can be a pain.
Overpriced and uncomfortable. Paid $20 for a coffee and a yummy bread thing while sitting in a metal/concrete warehouse.Went to The Conservatory down the street and paid $5.50 for better coffee and even yummier bread thing while sitting in a cozy setting with friendly people.
A little pretentious... can be somewhat intimidating BUT.. the staff is very nice and laid back. Coolest shop I have probably ever seen. Hard to find parking but worth it when you do.
Now this place use to be good and a fun place to go and chill, have dome coffee and read, draw, work, etc... Lately just dirty all the time, what happened guys? Will edit review when someone cleans this dump up...
This place is a must for coffee enthusiasts. Whats unique about this place is their Hazelnut milk latte, its super good. I also sometimes pass by for a quick avocado on toasts which is super delicious here. I like their environment but wouldnt go there to work, although i see a number of people doing that.
Such a cool, hidden coffee place. I would never think to find this place. Sort of hidden in a neighborhood. The set up is very clean and open, and Hey, they roast their own beans. Prices are a little more than most coffee places, but they know what theyre doing.
Best customer service and awesome cups
Great drinks and pastry, great atmosphere, good music and lots of seating area
Been going to Bar Nine since they first opened and they just seem to get better with every passing day (which is saying a lot because the coffee and food have been incredible from the beginning).I saw one review here that said, Its not intelligentsia but the quality is good. Dont get me wrong, I love Intelligentsia, but please ignore this person and their review. The coffee here is literally roasted 30 feet from the counter and is prepared with more care than Ive seen practically anywhere else in the city.
Awesome place for coffee. It always taste great no matter how you get it (latte, pour over, iced). Can be a little expensive if you are buying a bag of coffee but it is really good quality. They have coffee cupping Sunday at noon if you want to step up your coffee game!
The staff was really friendly. Delicious latte.
Awesome place with great coffee and chai tea. their homemade hazelnut milk is legit. wifi works good most of the time.
Coffee is nice and smokey. Employees are friendly and helpful. Very pet and family friendly.
I think the only non renewable item in the place was our babys milk bottle. Coffee was quite delicious.
Great third wave coffee shop and brewer at the edge of the office park behind Helms. Staff is really friendly and the decor is modern and comfortable. Coffee is amazing. Try the drinking vinegar.
They have really good big dishes and nice pricing
Ask us about our seven dollar slice if bread. #minimalism
Roast their own coffee. Delicious, inventive bar food. Great music. Knowledgable staff. Gorgeous space.
Way way way over priced for what you get. We got one croissant and two coffees and it was $23 before tip. And coffee was just okay. I would rather drive all the way downtown to Stumptown, or even go to the Conservatory in Culver City. Im sure if you are a hipster I am pretty much writing blasphemy but I just definitely felt ripped off by this place. You have to take this with a grain of salt though because the places hipster aesthetic was definitely not my vibe. They just put bleachers inside -__-But nevertheless, the coffee was just okay and came in glass jars.
Best coffee spot in the area. Highly recommended. Worth it.
Its chic and has great coffee. Not a great place to sit down for hours on end tho.
Very good spot with a relaxing vibe. Third wave coffee spot with an excellent drip. Itβs always a win when the drip is so on point that you think youβve ordered a fresh Chemex or Pour-Over... well done! Coffee presentation was excellent, baristas were attentive to customers even bringing water out, as well as the Avo-Toast. Portion could be a little bigger for the Avo-Toast, but that a mild issue. Seating to do any real work is limited, but itβs great for hangs and chatting. If youβre in the area check it out.
Everything was awsome, staff was very kind and I like it
Very good espresso. Owner is very knowledgeable and teaches great coffee classes in the evenings. Street parking only. Closed (except for classes) in the evening.
They have great fresh rotated coffee. Lots of choices for fresh food. And the people that work there are very friendly and helpful.
Pure. Looking for a crafted coffee experience with delicious caffeinated brews? Great space. Support single origin and the craft of coffee β
Coffee is great, but not a very comfortable to sit down and enjoy the morning. Seating is mostly barstools with one table and chairs, and a set of risers.
Good pour over, nice open space, dog friendly. Would like to see more seating.
Just moved to the area and this place has quickly become my go to spot. The coffee is top notch
Minimalistic and modern. With not much comfortable seating. Mostly bar style with stools.Coffee of the day was ok, warm not hot.Comfortable atmosphere. Not noisy even while roasting and making lattes. If youre ok with design Ming in a warehouse this will be suitable. The pictures tell the story.
Looking for great coffee near you, look no further!
Location is nice, staff was friendly, ordered their Gesha, It was okay. Outside seating is less than comfortable, beautiful cafe, just needs AC =)
Bar nine is one of the best coffee places in LA. The baristas are very friendly, the coffee is always great(they roast their own coffee), and thereβs a lot of room. Thereβs a large communal table which is really great to do work at and thereβs a lot of other seating options(bar seating, outdoor benches, and even bleachers lol)
Awesome service, great wifi, plenty of seating, fancy drinks (including house made hazlenut milk).
Love the vibe of this place, it is so painfully hipster without the sense of trying too hard. But more seriously - excellent coffee and love the all-inclusive pricing (ie they pay their staff a proper wage and are fighting the good fight against tipping culture).
Really good vibes and very aesthetic. Their iced lattes are amazing, and so are their pour overs.
