They were so so helpful! My car started to overheat, they explained in great detail the possible causes and what was needed to fix those possible causes. They made the time to help even as they were ready to start closing for the day. They will be fixing the actuators on my car doors. It is easy to tell how as a business they care about my car and as a family they care about the customer through time and explanation. They are trustworthy and they do a great job. That is something that cant be said about all automobile places. I highly recommend them.

They are very detailed orientated and meticulous. They also use the very best parts. The ones used on my car were OE parts. They also took the time to explain to me everything that was done, and they showed me the old parts that were replaced. They also have the best warranty 3 years/parts and labor. They also gave me a ride home when I dropped my car off and picked me up when the car was done. In the end. You get what you pay for.

They didn’t even get a chance to actually look at our vehicle, but we know it was the transmission. We were waiting for our original made appointment and had it towed there after getting stuck on the highway. We decided this mechanic was not a good fit for us based on their prices for a rebuild vs new. When we stated we would get it towed elsewhere they proceeded to charge us and when asked for what they said, “We had to move it from where it was parked.” We were greeted with a morning automated texting saying, “Thank you for trusting us, how did we do?” Since you want to know, I think your business is poorly run. We picked the company based on overall reviews ourselves, I thought this information would be useful when choosing your neighborhood mechanic. Proceed with caution and know your prices.

Always a pleasant experience! Everyone I talk to is professional and knowledgeable. They take appointments and are realistic about when they will complete a repair. And the system they use to send texts about the status of my car is amazing! Best shop in town.

We always bring our cars to them for any repairs. They will always get us in asap . No problems with the repairs that theyve done. Cant say anything about prices since I dont have any to compare with.

Called Pete and Sons in the morning, they said they were busy but would work on the issue with my driver side rear tire in between jobs. They called 3 hours later and said job was done. Very professional, very reasonable prices, they DO NOT try to take advantage of people. Honesty, integrity, knowledge and pride in workmanship. Thats how I describe Pete and Sons. Have used them several times since I moved to the area and will not use anyone else!

We thought we had a wheel/ujoint issue. Pete & Sons took it in and could not replicate the noise. ( We cant either!) Trustworthy auto repair shop. Thats why we continue to take our cars to them.

TOTAL SCAM ALERT!Be sure to have a second opinion and someone review their quote!I dropped my car off to have the A/C looked at. Pete quoted me $1700.After sending the info to my mechanic friend (out of state), as well another local shop, items were found that simply did not make sense to replace.I called and told Pete. Id like to pick up my car to have over the weekend, and to think about it.When we went to pick up the car the rude lady at the front, told me it would be $98 for diagnostic fees. There was no mention of fees upon drop off with front desk.There was no mention of diagnostic fees when scheduling last week.There was no contract to sign.There was no mention of diagnostic charges the SIX times I spoke to Pete today on the phone.I told Pete I did not have $98 because I wasnt aware there was a fee.They would not give me my car until I called the police.This place tried to scam me on parts.I declined.They tried to charge me $98 for looking at the car, then refused me my car.That is NOT legal.

Petes shop does work that you can trust as far as fixing what is wrong, but you shouldnt go there if you expect fair prices. Our daughters engine light went on and her cabin air filter needed changing. He charged $28.00 for a new cabin filter that can be purchased fro about $20.00 on the high end. Also, the labor charge was 40.00. If you dont know anything about cars, that part takes fewer than 2 minutes to take out and snap in. YouTube it, you will see. At oil change places they take it out to show you it, then put it back if you dont want it FOR FREE. The other jobs we had done also were overpriced if you check online, but that was, by far, the worst. I hope Pete was happy with the extra money he got from me, because I wont be going back to give him further business.

Appreciate they provide quality service repairs and give you feedback and recommendations without being pushy. They potentially saved me hundreds on a used car pre purchase inspection. Money well spent spent! Yes some repairs on any vehicle at any repair shop can be expensive however I have always felt I have received a very fair price with excellent quality of service. Plus recently they found an issue with missing bolts from previous dealer repair while doing a basic inspection during an oil change. Kind of things they wont catch at a quick oil change place.

I took my older vehicle In because the Air Conditioning was leaking freon very badly.I checked around with 4 local places for costs to find the leak. Pete & Sons had the best price.I had the estimate to repair given to me and the costs were shocking. (This is not due to Pete & Sons, but merely the nature of auto repair costs). They gave me three options as how to fix the vehicle. He took the time to explain the pros and cons of every choice, which in turn, helped me make an informed decision.The total cost came in approximately $15 under what he quoted me. He also gave me a friendly and enjoyable ride home when I dropped my vehicle off.I thoroughly recommend Pete & Sons based upon my one experience with them. These guys are amazing. I brought my car in because I heard a noise when I push on my breaks. They checked it out and found that all my lug nuts were loose and the place I took my car to a few months ago didn’t pay attention to detail. The noise is gone and they were very nice. I appreciate their honesty and I’m glad I brought my car here.

My wife works out In Crown Point close to an hour drive for me with a flat tire. I drove out there and removed the tire to have it repaired. Took it to Petes and they plugged a hole, charged me $25 and I went to put the tire back on my wifes car. That night when she got off work she called me to let me know the tire was flat again. So I had to drive all the way out there to pick her up. Next day I take her back to work and went to drop the tire off to get fixed AGAIN only to be greeted rudely and told I could drop the tire off and come back in an hour. I decided to take the tire to an actual TIRE shop only to find out there was a cut in the sidewall which is IRREPARABLE! Not sure how the mechanic that repaired the tire the first time couldnt find it because it was pretty obvious as soon as the other shop sprayed the whole tire with soapy water. Now Im out $150 which is understandable, but the 2 extra trips and lost days work Im out arent. Id have been more than happy to purchase the tire from them had they have correctly diagnosed the problem in the first place.

Costed me $67 just to look at my truck, ended up realizing it wasn’t worth fixing so I got it towed and was told by the repo man they took out parts so I got payed a lot less then I was supposed to just to junk it. Rip off artists.

My daughter ran over a parking block and the car was making a terrible noise. I dropped it off at Petes and they looked at it within an hour with no appointment. It turned out to require only require a minor repair which they fixed that day. All this completed in 2 hours. Unbelieveable! They are efficient, honest and trustworthy. I highly recommend and will be back again!

I had my 2008 Ford Fusion at a local tire shop and had them check a low heat condition during a tire rotation. They wanted to replace a water pump etc... totaling over $1000. I had a positive experience with Pete and Sons before so I decided to take it to them for a second opinion. He explained that the water pump would not necessarily point to the cause of the condition and the car wasnt showing any signs of overheating. They found the heater core to be clogged. They were able to unclog the heater core for a mere few hundred dollars saving me a ton of money. They could have just agreed with the other shop and soaked me for a new water pump but they were honest in their assessment and recommended approach to the repair. Pete and Sons will have my business from now on.

Its hard to find a good honest mechanic and I suggest you keep looking. I needed front and back pads and rotors on my 2012 Volkswagen Golf R. I called Wednesday and was told they could handle it by the end of the day. A few hours later I received a call saying they couldnt get the parts that day and would have it done by Thursday and parts would be half the price of the Volkswagen prices. Quoted at $850. Ok, fine. Thursday I called at 3 pm to check the status and they informed me that parts had come mislabeled the mechanic was test driving it and were unsure if tsey could finish it by days end (5pm). Called back at 4:45 saying that parts had to come from Volkswagen and it wouldnt be ready til Friday. Got a call Friday at 8:30 am half an hour after they opened to tell me that they had finished. The price I paid was $881; $31 more than originally quoted for the half price parts. Out of curiosity I called the VW dealership and was quoted ~$800 for the same work; which I am sure they could have taken care of in a days time. Having told them how unhappy I was with my experience I was comforted by Im sorry you feel that way. and unclear explainations of which parts cost more and why it took more than the day I was originally told.Its my fault, I should have taken it to the dealership.
