Great food, extremely fast service they had our food on our table within 5 minutes and I ordered a ton of things. Very impressed with the way they operate their business, Ive been here 2x when on vacation and Ive always been impressed. Very worth your time and money. The service was prompt and to the point. I always like places that take care of your needs right away. The story of the owner being a freedom fighter in the middle east them managing an IHOP in Costa Mesa then now owning his own restaurant is an amazing story. We even had a chance to meet him. A very down to earth guy. Great service, food, price and quality. Superb.

There were a lot of newspaper articles about a man who works here that were really interesting. Its worth reading if you are curious. In short, a man who works there is formerly CIA (but theres more to it).I recognized him after seeing the articles as he was working very busily.He made sure we were seated quickly and offered us an outdoor option during our wait.The place was packed.I ordered Potato Pancakes and they were great! They were served with Apple Sauce & Sour Cream.For my main dish I ordered the Chilequiles and they came with pancakes. I wasnt able to finish my meal, but I thought it was decent. The pancakes were mediocre, but a good size and proper coloring.My partner opted for Pot Roast. It seemed to be a pretty generous amount of food.I would like to mention they have a a decent sized menu complete with a few Vegan Options.
We are out of town visiting friends and family from Florida. We have not received our food yet, but already we are pleasantly taken back by the efficiency and professionalism displayed at this establishment. The menu has options for everyone, and will definitely be coming back our next time in town. Good job Pancakes R Us! One of a kind you are!
This place is incredible. My great-grandma is a regular here and brought me while I am visiting. The service is so friendly and efficient. I got a larger meal and ate almost all of it because it was just that good. The Nutella crepes (with bananas and strawberries) were some of the best crepes I’ve had at a breakfast restaurant. Hit chocolate is fantastic too. I wish I lived here and could come more often!

Since we had such a good experience last week, we decided to try one of their other locations....big mistake. Upon entrance I noticed that the food was being stacked on the counter by the cooks, which indicated to me that they were understaffed. A gentleman greeted us with a clipboard in hand. He took our name and party number, however as we were waiting two other parties checked in and were seated right away. Now this may be because we were the only black people in the establishment or at least that is what my husband felt. So instead of patronizing this establishment we decided to leave. Thankfully this experience wont stop me from at least going back to the one in Montclair.
The best Pancakes Ever! I Love the pumpkin pancakes they are heavenly. My bff had the pigs in a blanket. He said Delicious. I highly recommend Pancakes R Us.

Not good so-so I had potato pan cakes🎂 husband had pancakes, eggs, bacon, & hashbrowns 1 cup of coffee price $ 26.00 . Service bad asked for coffee ☕ had to ask 2times where is the coffee ☕ the table cleaner got the coffee. The server was feeding her face & had to ask for a menu had to ask 3 times potatoe 🥔 pancakes deep fried

1st, this place is great. During covid however everything is to go and in Styrofoam. I had 3 boxes and a cup just for one person. Our outside table had a mountain of trash. They can do better...

Good breakfast. Seems like a former IHOP, but the food is better. The pancakes are excellent, nice and moist. The French toast is also nice and moist. The cinnamon roll French toast is a bit dry. The corned beef hash is nice even though its canned, but they sautee it with some diced onions and green peppers. The country fried steak is good.

Had the garden omelette with a short stack of buttermilk pancakes...most excellent. The menu says this is supposed to be a two egg omelette but given the size I find that highly doubtful. The pancakes were great as you would expect with Pancakes in the name. If it is a nice day I recommend setting in the outdoor patio area.
Loooooooved this place, first time visiting in March 2020 and went back to back days during my time in Costa Mesa (Im an AZ Native). Great service, had us (Wife and i) 40 min both times. Food and service was amazing. Definitely stop by if youre from out of town and if you live there and this isnt your favorite place, show me better! Definitely a staple for me and my family now

So this has to be one of the best deals in the area for a good home style meal. The menu has a tremendous selection with very reasonable prices. The service was good as was the food. The owner is apparently a former cia agent, there is a display near the entrance of memorabilia and newspaper articles about him.
By far the best steak and eggs I have ever had, my husband also had the country fried steak and said it was amazing. The staff was incredibly friendly, drinks were always full and we didnt have to ask for a thing everything was brought to the table. This place is absolutely perfect! We will definitely be returning. THANK YOU

Great for breakfast!Eggs Benedict originally was a bit over sauced and under cooked for my sons taste; some may be perfectly happy with it that way. They took the meal back and prepared it to his perfection with sauce on the side.Owner is fantastic character. A remarkable person to society. Its worth a visit to just have the benefit of seeing this wonderful person and learning whats hes done.
Waiters were rushing, yet food was served lukewarm, butter cant melt on cool pancakes.
I highly recommend having breakfast here. Their menu has something for everybody. Sweet waffles and crepes are awesome! Service is fast and courteous. Saturday and Sunday mornings will be crowded between 10 and 11, so arrive earlier, later, or be ready for waiting about 15 minutes to be seated.
Great classic style diner for breakfast! We need more places like this in Newport/Costa Mesa area, good breakfast is hard to come by. Food is great and price is good! It’s literally a classic diner with classic breakfast dishes. This place is always busy so that says a lot about a place. Great classic style diner that are few and far between. Eat here when you’re craving eggs hash browns French toast and pancakes.

We love this diner. Excellent values and quick service, but expect a line (sometimes more than 30 minutes) during busy times. The owner has been there EVERY SINGLE time weve gone manning the front, and weve been there at least 25 times. Personally, I like that kind of dedication and clear commitment to ones business.Servers are personable and friendly; however, the owner comes off a bit differently. He is by no means rude, but he doesnt really feel warm either. It may be cultural, Im not sure, but dont let it get to you because the food is great and he runs his restaurant well.Bottom line, you should come here if you havent before.

The staff is extremely friendly. The food is typical diner food. If youre going stick with breakfast thats their specialty. I had the burger and ditched the bun and threw it on top of a salad. The meat was good, fresh hand made patty. Their blue cheese dressing is delicious. This is definitely not a restaurant that is for the health conscious. Its a once every 3 yrs or more place for me.
This place has a warm inviting atmosphere, quick service, great coffee and outstanding bang for your buck. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the servers are all fast and friendly. I pride myself on visiting breakfast eateries and diners, Pancakes R Us is top of my list. It is the current favorite and has become a weekend staple when I am in Costa Mesa. I highly suggest you give it a try.Try the stuffed French toast.
This restaurant has been a favorite of mine for years! The service is exceptional, the food is always served quickly and the food itself has always been delicious. They have a large variety of choices, including healthier options like egg whites and turkey bacon. They have non-breakfast food items as well, so you can come later in the day for options as well. I cant recommend Pancakes R US enough!

This was a great find! They have a wide and great menu selection, with generous servings. The staff was friendly and gave outstanding service. We will definitely be going their again the next time we are in town.

Great option for breakfast, the food was delicious and the service was great. I had the chocolate chip pancakes. But everything on the menu looked so good. My wife has celiac and there were plenty of options for her, including gluten free pancakes and waffles.
Great breakfast in Newport Beach. I like everything food wise here. On weekends it a little bit crowded and there will be wait time. I love their style of having a flask of coffee on my table. Good selection of syrup 👍

Old school pancake house that catered to old school clientele. I could tell that a lot of people had been coming here for a long time. I got a basic combo that I get at a lot of places - eggs over-medium-we’ll, protein (this time was a little ham, bacon, sausage), hash browns, and pancakes along with coffee. The server was nice but felt unfriendly because he was so quick. The eggs were a bit over-cooked, the ham had too much smoked-flavor. The coffee was just OK but cost $3!
Solid breakfast eatery. No frills no haughty atmosphere. They know who they are and they perfect it. The service was fast and efficient. Everyone at our table enjoyed what they ate. And I cant be wrong because a lot of the locals eat here.
Love this place! Live in FV but travel here with family and friends. Never had a bad experience here and Ive come at least once a week for over 10 years. The staff is so kind and loving, the food is always better than expected and the restrooms are big and always clean. Even when they are at their busiest, they are beyond amazing! Always look forward to coming back and bringing new friends here.
