I have been going to Hearing Health Care for years. Elizabeth is always friendly and gets my 92 year old mother in quickly. Maclain is a wonder. Several months ago I visited a licensed audiologist as I was experiencing some hearing loss. Following the examination, I was told I needed hearing aids and that the cost would be in excess of $4,000. Needless to say, the price tag was shocking. I decided to wait and get a second opinion. Recently, I received an invitation in the mail for a free hearing test with Hearing Health Care at their Conway, SC office and I felt this was my perfect opportunity to get that second opinion. When I went for my appointment I purposely did not mention the first audiologist’s opinion. I wanted nothing to influence the examiners opinion.On 3/30/21, I had my first appointment at Hearing Health Care. I was seen by Thomas Malenfant who, through use of an otoscope, quickly established that my ear drums were being blocked by an excessive amount of wax. He suspended the examination and referred me to a medical professional for extraction of the wax. I was told to return to him once that was done so that my hearing tests could be completed.I had the procedure to remove the wax as instructed and then on 4/8/21 I returned to Hearing Health Care for completion of tests.Mr. Malenfant performed several tests and then in review of same, told me that I DID NOT need hearing aids. He said my hearing was age appropriate and that aids would not provide benefits relative to the costs. How very HONEST of him. He could have easily told me, as the first audiologist did, that I needed hearing aids. He could have drummed up business for his company, but he did not. He chose to be honest about his findings. I was so very impressed by that.I hope that anyone reading this will know that going to Hearing Health Care will be a good choice. You will be treated well and will receive an honest evaluation of your needs.
