As a resident of coastal club, I had a friend that needed to park in a guest spot. When I saw him towing in the front I asked him if those spots were still for guests. He said no and I kindly asked him where the others were. I was expressing to him that I didnt understand why there were not many guest spots(not saying it was his faults, it is coastal clubs) he quickly screamed at me and was very rude. When i went to walk away he put the car in gear and inched up as i started to walk in front of it. Extremely rude and I felt very unsafe. Do not use this company for any reason. It is awful.

Attention college students and anyone reading this post! My son parked his vehicle in the visitor parking at Monarch Apartments last night. Dukes towing towed his vehicle and had to go get it today at 1:00. He video recorded this interaction with a member of the company today. They told him that the visitor parking was only available until 7:00 pm. There are NO SIGNS that state your vehicle will be towed if youre parked there after 7:00 pm. Im not sure of whos in cahoots with who but I plan on taking it alot farther than theyre used to. Charging these kids $160.00 a pop when there is clearly no signs stating that your vehicle will be towed after 7.00 pm. I went there today and took pictures of the Monarch visitor parking and my son has the Dukes towing company on video stating thats why he was towed. BBB has already been contacted and thats just the beginning.

So we broke down and had to be towed as we were heading to Myrtle Beach for vacation. Our insurance company sent us to Dukes. They were so very helpful!! Mike was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to help us out. He used his personal vehicle to carry all 5 of us as well as towing our vehicle!! He also tried to help us fix our vehicle. Tiffany was very professional on the original call to help accommodate us and our situation.!! You guys rock and Jerry and I will be recommending your company!!

Friends car was towed at 2:40am on 9/3, was told earliest we could pick it up was between 1-3pm 9/5. Went to get car, place was closed, called the recovery number for them to tell us it was to late for them to open at 1:30pm and the earliest we could get it would be between 7am-12am in 9/6, 3 full days after causing us to miss things back home as we intended to leave the afternoon of 9/5. Complete lack of respect and laziness displayed by this pitiful excuse for a company.

Angela and John have a few reviews on this page to increase their stars, they are the owners of this company. BBB has Angela ****** listed as the owner, Facebook confirms it with a photo of a Dukes truck. On Facebook Angela posted an update of being engaged to John *****, who has also posted a review. Conflict of interest. Ive reported this to Google, but the reviews are still up. Hid the last names for privacy (so this would not be taken down), but you can search the BBB for Dukes Recovery and Towing Services which will list Angela and search Twitter/Facebook for full names. Be safe, lots of negative reviews with this company.

To anyone that has the unfortunate luck of interacting with this company here is some information. First, they will try to say the state/county makes the price, that isn’t true (they set a max, which is charged). Second, if you spot them when the car is on hook, but before they take the car they have to drop it for 1/2 price, per Horry County ($80). Third, if you catch them before it’s on hook it’s like $25 (that information can be found on Horry County’s website). Fourth, tow truck companies cannot charge for personal property to be released. Finally, tow truck drivers are not above the law, a common law that towing companies have to be cognizant of is disturbing the peace. “Disorderly conduct is also known as disturbing the peace. In South Carolina, disorderly conduct is described as public behavior that can upset, anger, or even annoy other people.” It is a very vague law, but after seeing some other posts it might be applicable in some cases, just be sure that you are not breaking the law either. Not legal advice, I am not a lawyer, but work in the towing industry. Attached is the fee schedule and related regulations.My review got taken down for posting a link. You can look up Horry County towing for the information above.I would encourage anyone that has had a negative experience with this company, particularly at CCU, to report them to your apartment’s management. The owner was very rude. Yelled at me that he could do whatever he wants he can close when he wants. Holding my car when I am at his store. Then refused to answer phone calls or have another worker help. DO NOT USE TO MANY BETTER PLACES TO GO!!!

This company went well above what they had to!! We were broke down in NC traveling to Myrtle Beach. Mike not only towed us all the way to our destination in SC but helped us with trying to fix our vehicle!! Y’all are the best!! Thank you so much!!

My car was towed Saturday at 1:50 am. I called to see if they had my car and asked the woman on the phone how much it would be. She said $160 and when I asked if there was any chance the price could be reduced after I explained her my situation, she said no. Understandable, its a business you gotta do what you gotta do, but what she failed to tell me was that they charge $25 per day as a storage fee. As a broke college student I could not get the money right away, not knowing that it would end up costing me more. They only accept cash so I went to the bank and got the 160 and headed there Monday to get my car. When I arrived I was told I needed to pay 210. I explained to the woman at the desk that I had spoken to someone over the phone who did not explain to me that there was a storage fee. Along with this fact, their office hours show that they are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. The woman at the desk explains that they come in on Sat and Sun from 1-3 as a courtesy so people can get there cars, and that if I would have come then they wouldnt have charged me the 25. 1) Yall dont have a website where that information is listed, and 2) why was that not explained to me over the phone when I called and literally asked how much it was? Absolutely ridiculous and seems extremely illegal and sketchy. The woman at the desk did end up taking off one day of storage fees, but still messed up and uninformative place that targets broke college students.

My car was stowed at the pier at 10pm as i was walking out to it and they wouldnt drop it for less then 160 cash, fair enough i decided to go to the atm in the morning and pick up my vehiclewhen i arrived to pick my vehicle up i asked a question about how they towed it since i had my Emergency brake engaged and they didnt have a flat bed.this mustve triggered the meathead because he blew up on me and started threating me and calling me names saying how Im disrespecting him in his home. He continued to threaten me until his wife stepped in and finished the transaction..this place is nothing but a bunch of money hungry, cracked out losers it seems as if hes trying to compensate for something Maybe living in his shop

Not professional at all. They dont care about the people they hire, any meth head off the street will do! They dont care about thier work, the way the trucks look, or how the drivers handle themselves. You would think they would hire people with driving experience to drive for a living. Was late to open their own business by over 30 minutes and towed a car that had otherwise been granted leniency by the property and their own company. Upon being told about this, they still charged for the tow.

At about 2am me and my buddy went to get his truck, we were told to wait by the door. As the guys came back from towing more cars threatened to shoot me and my friend with a gun. Horry county police showed up on scene. So if you that kind of experience this is the place for you. But better off going literally anywhere else.

Would give zero stars if possible. They tow even if you have a tag and still make you pay even with proof. The amount they charge is unreasonable at $160 and they don’t even care if you can’t afford it. They will make you pay storage as well if you can’t get it right away. Super unprofessional and disgusting building. Looks sketchy when you get anywhere near it. They also only accept cash which is also shady. They don’t want to report to the IRS so they bank all that money. Horrible company. 100/10 would not recommend :)))

Dukes recovery is the best! They are very professional and always very helpful! The gentleman that helped me today was very professional and very outgoing. I would recommend them to anyone!!

They aim for broke college students that are just stopping at their friends apartments for a bit. Illegally tows vehicles. They will put your car in an industrial site in the middle of nowhere working a rundown office. They like to wait until the middle of the night to avoid confrontation. They know students dont have the money to pay a lawyer so they dont care about the law. Ive seen them tow students who just moved in and visitors who parked in visitor spaces. Luckily they havent gotten me yet, but everyone in housing knows you could be towed on any given night by these crooks.

This business Illegally tows vehicles!!!!! They just take any car they want and charge you to get your car. I documented that there were not any signs posted in that area. The only way I found out they took my car was because I saw them taking multiple cars in the visitor parking area. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!! Also I have video footage of the Driver aggressively approaching me (without a mask) and putting his hand in my face while I was talking to the security guard. They are very money hungry! I will be consulting with my lawyer.

This tow company took my Daughters car from Coastal club apartments where she has lived now for almost 2 years even with the permit that was issued to her for parking. The tow company was unwilling to work with her and charged her for the tow even though the permit was in plain site. Would not recommend these clowns to two my bicycle!!!!

They towed my stepdaughters car at Coastal Club where she has lived for almost 2 years now. They failed to notice her permit she had in plain sight. They should be ashamed of themselves for targeting college students!!!if I could give them ZERO stars I would !

We needed help getting two motorcycles and an atv out of a moving truck. It was a difficult task, but he did it! They were prompt, friendly and helpful. We highly recommend dukes recovery! Super nice owners that really care! Thank you ❤️ all so much..

Extremely sketchy company and preys on college students day and night driving around their apartment center parking lots. they took my car from a designated visitors parking area. they only accept cash. the driver of the tow truck and the other people in the car were also really rude, spitting out threats and comments to my friends. this company feels so illegal and sketchy, dont trust them at all.

Had a wonderful experience. Called for an unusual tow and he arrived promptly with clear communication. Price was incredibly reasonable and the ride itself was pleasant. Very friendly, very professional.

Terrible!! Tire blew out so I called and they said about 25 minutes until they would be there. Hour later I called to see what was the hold up and they said their truck broke down and they were getting another one. ANOTHER hour later, I call again and they said that they couldnt come. Two hours of my time wasted waiting for these goofs to never even show up.

This company illegally towed my moms car when she was in a handicap parking spot with a handicap tag from my apartment complex even know she had a parking pass. This place is a scam and doing illegally activity and needs to be shut down.

Used them through my insurance and will not let that happen again..All I asked, after I was charged an additional $275 over what my insurance paid, was for Mike to leave the key under the mat and lock the doors. When I got to where he towed it..he had left the key in the ignition and it was turned all the way on! He could have run the battery down on top of what I had to pay for the damages..So no..I do not recommend them at all👎🏼👎🏼

Had my insurance help me set up a tow with the company around 8am. I get curious about my car and call aroundb1030 to see if they can let me know if someone was in route or had already picked up my car. They tell me someone is on the way just to have my insurance company call me back an hour later and say dukes said they will no longer pick up my vehicle. Terrible service why was I not told on the phone that my service was canceled but that they were on there way to get my vehicle. 3hours wasted of me thinking they were going to get my car when obviously they had no intention of doing so wish I could give a zero. Waste of time go with aynor tire for actual service

If you are considering using Dukes and your car is on the side of the rode stay there dont call Dukes me and my mother were on the side of the street with a smoking car and the guy comes and tries to leave after 4 minutes the battery was dead and the key was stuck we just simply asked him how to get the key out and he said he cant tell us and drove off. Do not use.

Got left stranded by Squeakys who told me I was going to get towed since 11am and I was still waiting at 4pm. Dukes came in 20 minutes, gave my daughter a student discount and it was handled 30 minutes from call to tow.

WORST tow company ever!!! My dad waited 2 hours on the guy, for him to call and say he passed him, and didn’t see him, when he was clearly on 22, so the guy must have not even passed him. He yelled at my dad and told him to find another way! We are locals, and we will make sure to never recommend this company to anyone. I wish I could give a 0!

MY NAME IS MARSHALL LESUER, AND ON THE EVENING OF THE 26TH MY SONS CAR BROKE DOWN AT A MCDONALDS. HE WAS SEVERAL MILES FROM CAMPUS YET THE DUKES RECOVERY TEAM MADE THE NECESSARY ARRANGEMENTS AND MY SONS CAR WAS MOVED TO THE CAMPUS AND PLACED IN A LIT AREA OF THE PARKING LOT AND WAS BACKED IN SO THAT MOVING IT WOULD BE EASIER. THE DUKES RECOVERY DRIVER EVEN WAITED FOR MY SON TO ARRIVE FROM THE CAMPUS AS HE WAS HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME FINDING A RIDE BACK TO THE BROKEN DOWN CAR. THE PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE OF THE GENTLEMAN AT THE DISPATCH CENTER WAS AWESOME. AS I EXPLAINED THAT MY SON WAS RUNNING LATE TO MEET THEM FOR THE APPOINTED TOW TIME HE ASSURED ME THAT EVERYTHING WOULD BE JUST FINE AND NOT TO WORRY.
