Ive seen this bakery several times as we drove thru downtown. Today, we decided to try it. The desserts were great! Tried the Opera cake for the 1st time. It was delicious. Got a couple of very yummy cheese cakes! I love it when everything is placed in a box like a little treat😋

I used Chocolatier Barrucand for my wedding this past weekend, and have gotten so many comments on how amazing the desserts were. We did an assortment plus a Croquembouche, and everything was beautiful and delicious. The highlight of the wedding!!

Excellent customer service. Mr. Barrucand and staff are the best! The sandwiches and baked goods and desserts are all made from scratch! Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend getting lunch and goodies here!

Oof. This was not good, I have no idea what these other reviews ordered… our cream horn was 2/10 and this chocolate brownie with peanut butter was hard and tasted stale. Far from dense and moist.Would stay away, there are 10 better bakeries within 15 minutes in Charlotte.

The chocolate is amazing...its real chocolate that i cant get enough of it. Im obsessed, I will have to make this a once in a month outing because otherwise i will have to immediately buy new clothes.

We stopped in to check it out and left with German Chocolate Cheesecake and Strawberry cheesecake. WOW both were were amazingly delicious. Im not a fan of dense heavy cheesecake so was concerned but had to try one. They were wonderful fluffy cheesecake. I love German Chocolate cake and wow thats exactly what I got. Looking forward to returning and trying other flavors.

My wife and I absolutely love this place. Their custom cakes are incredible. The heart and soul that goes into each piece they craft is superior. We cannot say enough positive about this place.

I had a graduation dinner, and Chocolatier Barrucand provided two cakes. One cake was delicious and what I expected. The other cake was not. I was disappointed that the manager was not open to my dissatisfaction or addressing the matter.

EDIT: The owner has responded to my post and I just want to clarify that the sign posted was about wearing a mask, not charging for a mask! You can’t just charge for something without making the customer aware of it. It’s bad business practice and due to that, I will never return to your establishment.I’ve been here in the past and the desserts are overpriced for what you get in my opinion, to begin with. However, it’s hard to find german chocolate cake in a pinch and we needed it for Mother’s day so we came by to grab one and our experience was appalling. We were riding bikes so didn’t have masks...we walked into the store quickly, immediately asked for one small german chocolate cake to go and that was all. We were the only people in the store besides the girl working the counter. She started to help us as then paused, asked us if we had a mask, we explained we were on bikes, she stopped what she was doing, walked to the back for a good minute or two (definitely more than the amount of time it would have taken to ring us up), came back with a pack of masks that were unopened, struggled to open it, finally handed us two masks, and then proceeded with our order. Our $5.95 (overpriced) tiny dessert was rung up as over $8 without any explanation. I asked her how it became so expensive and she said “well i have to charge for the masks.” I personally found this extremely deceitful! If they were to explain that policy prior, that would be fine, but there’s nothing posted, she never mentioned anything, and she charged $1 a piece for something that costs less than 10 cents. Not only was that dishonest, it’s also taking advantage of customers at a place they is already overcharging for subpar desserts. Buyer beware!

I used to love going here, but now I am fairly certain I will never go in again. I love this stores chocolates, however after having talked with the owners of the store, I will be taking my business somewhere else. Upon asking for an appointment to test wedding cakes, the woman I spoke with on the phone was very brash and rude, uncaring, and actually yelled at me on the phone for a moment. It was really unsettling, but I made the appointment at first, anyway. It was only, maybe ten minutes, after, when I asked my fiancé to call back and cancel because I did NOT want to speak to that woman again. After he called, my fiancé was actually surprised by how she sounded on the phone, because even after telling her that I had a bad experience and would be immediately cancelling my appointment, my fiancé stated that she seemed unfazed, as if she didnt care at all. It was an awful experience.

Amazing fresh bread, beautiful, delicious pastries and a very polite staff. I will be coming back for years. The pina colada individual cheesecake was unbelievable and the chicken cashew salad on fresh bread is better than most any sandwich shop Ive had in the area.

This place is amazing. The chocolate mouse, creamhorn, and the salted caramel cake is insanely delicious. The owner is super sweet and helpful and his staff members are so nice. It’s a beautiful shop and it’s filled with delicious foods. YUM!

The only place we will ever go for birthday cakes again. They are so beautiful and delicious. They make the recipient feel extremely special. I now have a reminder set on my phone for everyones birthday in my family, so that I can order it a few weeks in advance. And the cost is not much more than a crummy sheet cake from a grocery store. Their chocolates are also amazing. Love this place!

We bought chocolate covered Oreos as favors for our wedding, and they were a huge hit! Everyone loved them, and they were even able to accommodate our gluten/dairy free guests with macarons, which were just as good as the Oreos!

The most delicious birthday cake! We purchased a cake from Jean Luc. A fantastic layered cake with vanilla cake and raspberry between layers, dressed beautifully with his fresh chocolate frosting and delicate leaves of more chocolate. My son’s 11th birthday was that much sweeter. 😉

They make all my families birthday cakes, even made my wedding cake. Unbelievable product.

If given the option I would give no stars. This is the second year in a row I have been in to buy chocolates for a holiday party and both years I have been met with a holier than thou attitude. Last year, even with the attitude and 45 minutes later, the boxes turned out well. This year was different. I just needed 10 boxes of assorted chocolates. I was waiting with my kids for 25 minutes when someone came over to tell me it would take longer than a few more minutes and if I wanted to leave and come back that would be best. I asked her how long it would take and she said an hour. An hour to put some chocolate in a box? I told her Id hoped it would be quicker but that wed take a quick walk and be back. Cut to 30 minutes later... when we returned I was told they had assumed I wasnt coming back and had quit working on them. And if I wanted them to continue then theyd have to start over. I find this place and how they communicate/operate totally unprofessional and I will not be coming back.

The smell of this place is amazing! Rich chocolates and delectable baked goods. We got a sampling of pastries and some Easter cookies. All were simply amazing. The cream puff with caramel...OMG... just get one. Its enough for 2 people to have a full dessert!

I had been looking forward to going here since we moved close a few months back. Just never made it over for one reason or another. Finally I was able to order a dacquoise cake for a birthday party. A lot of the time when I look forward to something it is hard to live up but it was perfect. Absolutely excited for the next excuse to have something here.

The shop is small as are most shops up and down Union St. The staff are very friendly and the confections are of high quality. Ive not gotten anything there I did not like. Im especially partial to their blueberry tarts. Theyre known for their oreo cheesecakes. The prices are very reasonable for high end desserts.

I love their chocolate! Ive been here a few times and have always been happy with the food. I went once during the week and they didnt have nearly the selction of macaroons that they had when Id shopped there on a Saturday. Dont know if this is typical or if I just caught them at a bad time. The people who have taken my orders each time werent rude necessarily but not the friendliest, either. Its like they just wanted me to hurry up and leave. But Ill still be back and would still recommend because the food is wonderful and I always feel like Ive given myself a special treat when I eat their chocolates.

From the beginning of cake tasting, I knew I made the right decision compared to other bakeries. My daughters Sweet 16 cake was amazingly delicious! Moist, elegant and the best frosting in town. No supermarket butter cream here! Two days after event, cake was still tasty! Vanilla, flourless chocolate, almond and red relvet were amongst the flavors we ordered. My two favorite.. vanilla and chocolate- flourless.. yet all were fantastic. 😍 my guests repeated seconds still after a three course meal. Taste was so good, we ordered another cake for New years Eve

Having read some of the reviews I believe people are too quick to judge and that is shameful on their part. In this day and age where people will slam the hard work of any business owner without the benefit of the doubt, I give this establishment a grade well deserved. Having the many years of professional kitchen mastery ourselves, my wife and I have had the pleasure to know these people. Their profession is demanding day in and day out making quality food products. Having been to France on several occasions, I have come to know what quality food really is. Their food and beverage is always the temperature it should be and simply delicious. Their craft is of the old world and I personally glad they are with us in Concord. Jean-Luc and Ann Marie go out of their way to provide a nice experience. The chocolates and desserts are delicious, and we stop by weekly for a treat. Sit in the corner seats near the window and people-watch while you savor a cabernet truffle!

Can I give less than 1 star? Ive been in the business a few times (hoping to have a better experience every time). The food might be okay some days, but the customer service was awful. Ive worked with the public for years, but this place was on the lower end of the scale. They were rude, not welcoming and warming, very Im here to do a job and thats it, I dont need to be happy about it. Some people dont care about customer service as long as the product is good, but the way a company treats their customers makes or breaks it for me. I wont be giving them any more business. Take my experience as a grain of salt, if you decide to go here, I hope your experience is better than mine!

We went there for the 1st time tonight and they have huge desserts on display and by the way they look you would think they would be great. They are way over priced for the way they taste. I ordered the whiskey bread pudding and my husband got the chocolate silk pie and my sister got the strawberry cheesecake and chocolate peanut butter torte all to go. They told me mine would be better warmed so I tried it warm as well as from the frige and it was nasty both ways. Also took a bite of my sisters items and my husbands and they were actually pretty bland. Her chocolate torte was bitter and the strawbeerry cheesecake did not have enough of strawberry taste. I have no clue what my bread pudding was to taste like other than I could taste the whiskey and sweetness but the bread part had no taste. Their items are 3.95-4.95 and was not worth this price. yes you get a big piece but whats the point when its nasty. Rather eat an apple pie from McDonalds!

This is my go to for presents for my husband for every occasion. He says the chocolate cake is my leaps and bounds the best he has ever had in his life. I order him a chocolate ganache cake. I love cheesecake and Ive had every flavor they make. They are the best Ive ever had! The reviewer that said the strawberry cheesecake is bland is clueless. I dream about that stuff! It is topped in cheap strawberry syrup, but has the real deal in the center. The Oreo cheesecake is nothing short of AMAZING! I get Pumpkin cheesecake during the candy crawl every year. It really gets you in the holiday spirit. I recently had the smores and it was so yummy with toasted marshmallows on top. The other bad review talked about walking in expecting to get 10 boxes of chocolates without preordering. This is not a candy shop ran by a corporation. This is a small shop ran by a family. Im sure they have to keep a close eye on their profit. They cant just make tons of chocolates that will get wasted. Their items are fresh and top quality. I would personally expect to preorder large quantities.
