I got to say is be ready to eat a burger. Wow it was super delicious would definitely come back. Go there on an empty stomach. No need to get fries

The turkey reuben was excellent as well as the onion rings. The chips and fries were decent too. The burger has way too much meat, you cant eat it like a burger and just end up using a fork. But I think thats what most people go there for so maybe Im not the best judge!

This place should be at the top of your list to try if you are in Columbus, Ohio. Not only are their burgers unbelievably massive, they are tasty, and the vibe of this place is super fun. The service was incredible each time I visited. The waiters were personable, kind, and helpful. Parking is difficult due to the part of town it is in, but its worth it. Make sure that The Thurman Cafe is somewhere you try before you leave town!

Easy to find but I can imagine on a busy night finding a parking spot could be difficult. It’s a small lil place but with a big burger to offer! The burger was really good. I’m not of a fan of a chips I’d rather have fries instead. But the order of chili fries were also extremely good. I’d highly recommend you try this place at least once. Cheers!

Drove up from Cincinnati to check this place out. The staff was very friendly and helpful, I got a pizza burger which was phenomenal, and the fries were nice and crispy. I wish there was one a little closer might be my only complaint haha

We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, which was fine as we had nothing else going on. We were able to grab drinks and take them to the lobby which was a nice touch. Strong drinks! Three of us got burgers, which were nothing super special. Creative burgers? Absolutely! Best burgers ever? Not so much. I got cheese fries and they were the best part of the meal.I got the Reuben pizza and that was pretty good! The waiter/ bartender was beyond amazing!

We ordered the $25.99 Thurmanator which is served as 2 x 12 oz burger patties with various other toppings, depending how you order. The burger was extremely mediocre. It was like eating a piece of Hamburger. The atmosphere and decorations (pictured) were eclectic and really, really cool. The onion chips were delicious but the sauce was a little off. I am going back to try different sandwiches.

Great service, friendly staff. Food was incredible. The Thurman Burger -- ham and three kinds of cheese, sautéed mushrooms and onions and a 3/4 lb beef patty -- was the best burger Ive ever eaten. Flavors so fresh and a strong combination of umami and savory saltiness that kept you eating.

Great little place!! On a Saturday, at almost 2pm, we had to wait to be seated for 2. Food was awesome, staff was just as good!

Wanted a good hamburger 🍔 and I knew Thurmans was a good place to go because of previous visits. However, today was different the food although large portions was just okay and service was okay also. Maybe the lack of service was due to the time we went (early dinner) but it was not that busy inside. We will be back again and hopefully it will be more like the old Thurmans...

Historic dive bar/restaurant with great food and drinks.

Smaller location with limited seating but if you have time to wait for a table it’s worth every minute.And if you dare get the Thermanator it is AMAZING both size and taste. We come to Ohio every year and this is a must visit every time.

I was very upset over the handling of seating and then add that it was very dirty there I was very shocked when I went into the bathroom The baby changing table had dead bugs on it.. there is dirt in the toilet there is dirt on the sinks the floor looks like its never been mopped and ages and my stomach was upset when I left because I work restaurants if the bathroom sturdy what is the kitchen !

Really cool vibe there. Burgers are huge and good. The sides are also delicious. Bit on the pricier end and the wait can get pretty long and no call ahead so your gonna have to wait.

Went right when they opened on a Wednesday. Already had several people waiting to go in. Very friendly staff. Cozy/fun decor. Nice menu of assorted foods. Large portions with reasonable prices. Definitely recommend!

I wish I could give it a better review. The place is famous for its burgers. I was excited when I arrived. Right off the bat the first thing I tried to order, the chicken wings, I was told was not available due to an increase in the price of the chicken. All right, lets try again, I now tried to order the pretzels. They came back a few minutes later to tell me they also do not have pretzels. Finally I gave up on appetizers and ordered a burger. It took the burger about 30 minutes to arrive and while it was large and did taste good, it did not really impress me. I would give it three and a half Stars if they allowed me to give half Stars. I would go back if my friends wanted to, so Im not saying its not worth trying, but it just wasnt for me.

Hit this place on a non-stop 32 hour 2,000 mile road trip from Connecticut to Colorado in an 81 Camaro Z28. We were about 700 miles into the trip when we pulled in to eat for 1 hr. At that point, the cold 24 oz PBR they serve hit the thirst spot. Not many places serve the 24 oz can. We ordered the Thurman burgers because - why not? They were awesome, but it is a food challenge not for the feint of heart. The fries are da bomb! Def get fries no matter what you order. Staff was super nice, service quick, and prices very reasonable. Highly recommend this place.

My family has eaten here for many, many years. Today, the service was lacking. We literally had to go after our own refills and our order was not correct. Our waitress ( I didnt catch her name) wasnt the friendliest. Overall just disappointed with a place we normally love 😔

We took our spouses there for first time visit. The menu is very large and has every type of food selection a person could eat. We had 3 different sandwiches and all were delicious and huge.I had the Macedonian salad and it was very tasty . We will go again.

Been wanting to come here for years. Finally checked off my TO DO list. Cool atmosphere. Had The Thurman Burger and fries. Thurman Burger was good. Colossal in size. Cooked as requested, a little over medium. Fries were ok. Overall, pretty good. Not the best burger in Ohio, like I had heard, but doesnt disappoint (mostly because of the sheer size of it). Come here to check it off your bucket list too, but check my other reviews for my favorite, and in my opinion, the best burger in Ohio....

Thurmans is the only place I know that uses fresh not frozen onions but they are always too brown for me... they taste charred. Im wondering if they arent pre steaming and need to brown them for the onions to be cooked... the photo is accurate. Theyre really brown. Also shown are rings with a more palatable hue.

Excellent. They have a huge selection of burger specialties and they all sounded great. We had three different specials, and all of them were consistent in size, and all tasted delicious! They start with a full 12 ounce hamburger, and its huge. Wide variety of toppings, interesting flavors and combinations. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table (the place is small), but I would have gladly waited 30 minutes. It was well worth the wait. I just wish I lived local so I could try them all!

I would recommend Thurman Cafe to everybody. We had about an hour wait on a late Saturday afternoon but it was well worth it. The food was great and I was just as impressed with the service. Unlike most places where you have one waiter or waitress, it seemed that everyone working took care of all the tables without bugging you, kind of like they knew when you needed something and you werent waiting on whoever is supposed to be taking care of you. Also, everyone of them were very pleasant, not annoyed that they were at work like a lot of places these days. The only thing if I had a problem at all, is their menu is too big, but I guess they would keep you coming back and not getting bored with the same thing. The highlight, if youre a coneydog fan, that 1lb hotdog is a BEAST!

We had a blast. The portions are so large. We stopped in today because we were pretty early for our flight to Florida. This place is less than 30 minutes from Rickenbacker Airport. Id reccomend this spot to anyone. They are super safe with COVID too

We got there 30 minutes before they closed. It was our first time there always wanted to try it they were so kind so very nice funny the food was amazing we will definitely go back there many many times.

Everything was delicious we had a great time my daughter loved thier new super thin crust pizza. The burgers here can not be compared to any other burger, they are in a class of thier own. If you havent tied this place yet what are you waiting for great food is passing you by. Friendly 6 foot distance atmosphere, history on the walls, and great food with a great staff what els do you need. Thanks you guys and keep up the good work.

OMG the size of the burgers is ridiculous. And so is the taste. Ridiculously good. Good food served with a side of sass. Definitely look forward to going back to the neighborhood staple.

I was honestly really excited to try this place because there is so much hype around it. But their host, a dude with dark hair and glasses, was pretty off-putting from the moment we walked in. They were not very busy at the time, it was early dinner on a Sunday. There were only two parties ahead of us and he told us there would be an hour wait. I was shocked because it wasnt very busy, and we almost ended up leaving but decided to wait anyhow. Much to our surprise we were seated in ten minutes. The food was good. I had no complaints, but I definitely didnt feel it was one of the best burgers Id ever had. Our waiter was nice and accommodating (although I asked for a booster seat for my daughter three times and they never brought one). Overall it was a decent experience, but their host was clearly trying to deter people from coming in (he told multiple people an hour wait even though it clearly wasnt). Not all the hype people make it out to be, but a good restaurant.

The Thurman Cafe is not what I would call a cafe. I would call it a small bar. A small bar with friendly staff and great burgers. Alone with the burgers, I would recommend the onion rings. They also have other items on the menu but sadly they never reach beyond the level of bar food. But if you are in the mood for a better than average burger you will enjoy yourself here.

Side of Onion Rings, best I ever had. Jager Burger and Fries Great tasting.A buddy & I sat at the bar and enjoyed every moment.Im not a drinker so I had tea but prefer sweet tea. They did have honey setting eight in front of me but the tea was just fine.

The Thurman Cafe is a German Village Icon! This place serves up the biggest burgers (3/4 lb), always cooked how you ask. Just be careful what you order, you may get a burger way too big to actually take a bite!

Fries were hot and tasty! The wait was about to 30 minutes or more on a Wednesday night. But it was worth the wait! Hamburger was delicious I couldnt eat it all ! I think I had the JOHNNY which was served with a side of TEQUILA & LIME...it also had blue cheese with a horseradish cheese. Small cozy hole in the wall... LOCALS recommended the THURMANATOR !!!

Do yourself a favor, wake up early and head to The Thurman cafe around the time they open, order a Bloody Mary from one of the amazing Bartenders and about half way through order a Thurmanator cut in half, wait about 15 mins and get another Bloody Mary and prepare for the fact that you made 3 really good decisions before 12pm... When the food of the gods arrives, ask for Victor and say thanks, then begin... Youre Welcome.

First off, dont believe Google Maps when it says this place isnt busy! I went and had the Thurman Burger. Not the Thurmanator, but the regular Thurman Burger which was still pretty massive! I was surprised at how flavorful the meat was. While they had a lot of different toppings, the meat stood out! I managed to eat the whole thing with no regrets!

Amazing food! In town visiting my daughter and she suggested going here. Great selection on the menu. I highly recommend the burgers and husband lived his Coney dog.

I heard so many great things about this place and was very disappointed with the quality of the food. Burger was dry as saw dust and completely over cooked. Looks as if it sat out and then they put it in the oven to heat it up. But the coney fries were good

The burgers there are the best. Only matched by the friendly and fun service. There can sometimes be a long wait because this is a very popular place seen on Man vs Food TV show. We luckily got right in. The decor is roadside diner kitsch. They have an obscenely large burger called the Thurminator that is probably enough for 4 people and its the price of one specialty burger at some other place not to be named. Full liquor bar if you are so inclined.

Came here for the first time. The food was so delicious! They made the chicken strips extra crispy for me. My sister loved her burger and their house-made ranch is AMAZING (especially to dip the fries in). Our server was great! attentive, friendly, and hilarious!

Thurman Cafe is the casual dining experience youll be compelled to return to at least twice a year.Rather you try something new on the menu or have your old favorite. The experience will consistently be amazing.Youll be greeted graciously at the door with a smile, have delectable food beyond the burger. Youll have options from RINGS & THINGS, salads, pizza and jumbo whole chicken chicken wings, with the added bonus of timely service.Sometimes theres a wait but you wont be disappointed.They have added the takeout only restaurant next door which is nice.

Great local place!!! The only reason I am giving four stars is that it took awhile to get the food out to us. The food though was amazing!!! Me and my children sampled the hamburgers there and they were fantastic, well worth the wait!!!

Found this gem via Google. The portions are huge. Food was AMAZING! I ordered the Thurmandelphia sub. It is beef and lamb mixture, with sauteed onions, mushroom, cheese, lettuce, tomato and a splash of Italian dressing. Those hand cut fries are everything too!

Thurmans was my first restaurant encounter during the COVID 19 pandemic. I was impressed with the way it was handled and would definitely come back. Lets not be confused though, this was not my first time eating here. I had a taste for a great burger and knew exactly where to go. I was in the mood for the A-1 burger. And my goodness! You can taste the A1 in every single bite! Simply amazing!

Thurmans has the best, biggest, burgers in Columbus and for the best price. Their patties are 3/4 lb, which is massive. They are handmade patties and incredibly delicious. Love the atmosphere, the wait staff and the food. Couldnt recommend this place more. Seating is first come first serve, so expect a wait any evening.

One of our favorite burger joints. It’s busy at dinner time but absolutely worth the wait. My husband and I split a burger and an appetizer so we’re not miserable when we leave. My first visit, its 2 hours away. Hopefully not my last. HUGE hand patties burgers, giant buns and the burger fit the bun! A small order of bacon cheese fries was gigantic! Couldnt eat half of them and shared my burger with my pup. Fantastic food, customer service was great too. Clean, social distancing and masks were in use. You will not regret this stop even if its out of your way!

Burgers the size of your head. Fresh cut zucchini fries, French fries, and onion rings. 100 other things, but the best burger Ive EVER had!!! Its rare that I see a staff in a restaurant, bar, Cafe, etc. constantly moving and doing things to be productive and not a single complaint to be heard from them! I was also extremely surprised for how clean it was for a dive bar Will definitely make this a regular location for good food and drinks.

Thurman’s ... be prepared to wait, but it’s worth it. There’s plenty of space during your wait as well as pop corn. It’s a small dive, and it’s delicious bar food. The Thurman burger is enormous. Fries are amazing and hand cut. We also got a grilled cheese, beer battered. Geese curds and fried cordon bleu balls. They have really great honey mustard and ranch, too.

We rode down to Columbus from Cleveland Mar 13 because I wanted to spend some time on Short North but specifically went down there to try Thurmans. And the good news is it did not disappoint in the least. Fairly busy so we knew wed have a short wait, no problem. So we went to the bar to order drinks while waiting. While ordering the drinks a couple seats opened up at the bar and the bartender offered to rearrange the stools to seat my party of 4 right then and there, which was awesome. And when these sandwiches came out, they were so awesome! I personally had the A-1 Thurman burger, which is cooked in A-1 sauce, it was crazy good! So good drinks, great food, and a great staff👍 That menu was really interesting and Im excited about my next visit there to try more

I placed an order through door dash i tried to call the kitchen they had me on hold for 30 minutes i couldn’t even ask to have my burger throughly cooked before my order was already picked up. It’s funny because when you call it says you can attempt to place an carry out order……Attempt smh

This place is amazing! I have been here twice and the food and service was top notch both times. The burgers are just so good and the fries are some of the best that I have ever had. The staff is very friendly and on top of things. You don’t have to wait very long for a drink refill and they are right on top of not only taking your order, but getting it out to you as well. This is one of my favorite burger places. What makes it even better is this places is privately owned and operated so you don’t have to worry about the typical corporate chain junk. Love this place!

The Thurman cafe has a lot of ambiance feeling more like a neighborhood bar more than anything else. The service was excellent but unfortunately I cannot say the same for the food. Not wanting to eat the star attraction which happens to be a whopping pound and a half burger I order the fish platter. It was tasteless with breading that was thick and rock hard. I returned it and ordered the chicken tenders instead which were not any better. If you are hungry and looking for good food to eat you are better off going elsewhere. If you are looking to just chop it up with friends and have a couple of drinks while eating a few appetizers (the pizza was greasy but good and so were the fries) then I would highly recommend for the atmosphere and down to earth friendliness of the staff. I gave it 3 stars but change it to 4 because of people and location but definitely not the food.
