Came from Michigan for a family vacation and wanted some ice cream late at night. The frozen yogurt place near us was closed so we thought we would try this place!! Amazing! It is soooo good. The black current sorbet takes like port wine, delicious and black raspberry sorbet is amazing and it is all homemade. The owner is so sweet as well and will tell you about how she makes it on her own. She has been doing it for 20+ years. Highly recommend!
International (mostly Indian) flavors with really authentic taste available (also available are regular flavors), hands down they are the best in Ohio in this category. Small store with no franchise options (it is homemade and run by an old-age Indian couple).Rajbhog flavor is the best, you can try many other Indian flavors like malai kulfi, kesar pista etc. There are three sizes available for to-go (pint, quart and half-gallon)Amex cards are generally not accepted, but if you have no other cards available, they will accept it.Sometimes the old-age couple can come across little impatient if you are a new customer, once you are a regular they are very friendly.
We came already excited because of the reviews and they werent wrong! There is a ton of variety and flavors of ice cream. The shop is owned by a couple and it seems like theyve been there for a long time. Its a small shop, with a comfortable vibe.We got a scoop each and its $3.25 for 1 scoop of ice cream in a cup. It might seem a bit expensive, but its quality ice cream!I got the guava ice cream and it was absolutely delicious, very fresh and creamy; the guava flavor was not lacking. Were not sure what the other flavor of ice cream we got was, but it was also delicious and very unique; it had mango, but the sherbet was green and tasted like tamarind. This is a hidden gem because its located in the suburbs and many people overlook it because its in a plaza with many other businesses.Theres plenty of parking outside and right now, you need a mask to go in! Usually, they allow sampling, but during this pandemic, there is no sample available. I recommend this place for a unique experience, delicious quality homemade ice cream, and for a pick me up or sweet treat.
Amazing ice cream. Homemade ice cream with lots of exotic and traditional flavors. Beyond the normal chocolate, vanilla, etc. are many Indian inspired flavors like ginger, fig, custard apple, and almond/pistachio/cardamom. Lots of variety all around.Highly recommend the ginger, but ne aware that is does have a kick to it.Service is excellent as well.
This to us is the best place for ice cream and we live 40 min away. The flavors are marvelous and unique. Dont let the simple store front fool you. Jenis and Graters cant beat what you can only experience here. A must for anyone who enjoys ice cream.
My boyfriend and I went in to try this local spot because it was highly talked about. We wanted to like the place truly. But we waited for 10 minutes for service. I ordered a single scoop of cookies and cream, because it was a fresh bucket and the others had other flavors mixed within each other from not washing the scoop between flavors. My boyfriend ordered the Smokey Row flavor. The guy takes the cup and a scoop and walks to the back room. He’s gone to 3 or so more minutes and comes back it’s my ice cream before getting my boyfriends. We go out to the car to eat our ice cream and mine tasted super funky. Not like Oreo at all even though it looked like it. I could not eat more than two bites without throwing it out, which makes me angry considering the $3.50 price for the one scoop
Can I give this place 10 stars??? I wish I could, the ice cream is sooooo good! A husband and wife own it and they actually create the ice cream flavors! Along with traditional ice cream they have a bunch of international flavors. Anything with pistachio is a must try, as theyre not stale and chewy like many varieties you get elsewhere. Im in love with the cardamom/pistachio one, as well as the green tea. Last visit the owner gave me a free scoop of jasmine as it was a newer flavor. It was unreal and will be my next choice! Also noteworthy are the ginger and the crunchy butterscotch, which are family favorites.Just go... You wont regret it!!!
This place is really one of a kind! Husband and I accidentally stumbled upon this place looking for some good ice cream. With a name like Mardi Gras, we went in thinking it would be any other ice cream shop, but we were totally surprised by the tons of Indian ice cream flavors! Husband is from India so he was so excited. The Guava is my absolute favorite now as well as the Lychee. The couple working there is always really nice. Have gone back many times and will keep going!
They have specialty flavors you wont find anywhere else. So please go to Mardi Gras and support a local business that puts so much effort into making amazing ice cream from scratch!
Unique flavors. Tasted great. will be back!
I am addicted. especially to the ginger. my anxiety level is ratcheting up since fall is here and i know they go south in mid-novermber.
Little disappointed as they don’t allow tasting. International flavor tastes are not as expected, I felt they used essence to get the taste than real fruit. Lychee, Pan flavor are good.
I love this place. Been going here since I was a kid and its still just as good 👍 I hope they never change the decor; for me its a step back to the 90s and early 2000s in the best way possible. The Kulfi is also amazing!
Fantastic selection of delicious homemade ice creams! And the couple that owns it is so friendly!
The go to place for desi flavored ice cream. Paan and Guava are outstanding.
Excellent ice cream! The owner was very nice and even had time to chat with us about her business. Definitely recommend.
So far, I e been here twice, and I absolutely LOVE it! The first time, I got the trio sampler with the numbers 14, 16, and 17. Now I know I love the number 16, which is the Fire and Ice, so that’s what I got for both scoops this time around. The other flavors were good, too, but I absolutely LOVE the spicy chocolate that is the Fire and Ice!I’ve been looking for a long time for sweet and spicy treats, and this hit the spot. Jeni’s used to do a spicy chocolate, but I have to say that each time I go to Jeni’s I have buyers remorse due to the heavy price and light portions. Mardi Gras, on the other hand, will supply you with a satisfying portion for your hard earned cash.If you’ve had Jeni’s spicy ice cream you’ll recall the deep, dark chocolate with a subtle spice, but Mardi Gras is comin atcha with some creamy milk chocolate and plenty of kick! And it’s not just a simple cayenne spice, either. I’m not sure what the added nuance is, but the amazing chef told me she blends her own spices for the flavors; and I’m just grateful to be able to enjoy. So if you’re an ice cream connoisseur who loves complex and delicious flavor, or even if you just love a cold treat and want some of the most delicious ice cream you’ve ever had, go get some Mardi Gras.
The best ice cream in Columbus! Unusual flavors you’ll find nowhere else. Indian kulfi is delicious-all handmade by the owners. Highly recommend the ginger, cardamom and fig flavors, but they have things like salted caramel for a more traditional choice. Don’t miss this one...the owners are lovely people.
Wow sooper tasty icecream …pistachio flavor..my favorite 🤩😋
Definitely a local favorite and summer time visit. Always a nice variety of international and traditional flavors.
Taste of ice cream is great but service isnt. If you ask for 1 scoop they will put the scoop in cup but they will weigh the cup 3 times before giving you the ice cream. They will also weigh your cone if you are getting ice cream in it. I feel bad for the 2 employee working coz the owner took em in back and gave them word coz they didnt weigh the single scoop of ice cream. We asked for an extra spoon the lady owner gave us an eye for real.
No frills but pack a sweet homely touch? Yeah that’s what this place has in ice cream flavors. I was a little hesitant entering this place when i arrived today. It did not look like to be your typical “lit” ice cream parlor.Although what it lacks in decor, it compensates in taste. I loved the malai kulfi, pan, sweet rose and sitafal flavors. These are indian 🇮🇳 flavors that i grew up on and it was a great surprise for me to try these ice creams after quiet sometime and that to fresh. I highly recommend this place and recommend to try the flavors on the white board like I did.One more thing, this place is actually run by senior couple, so be patient you will get your worth of your dollars.
Owners are great people. Ice cream is some of the best in the city.
This place is best for indian flavors. Best ice creams I ever had in USA. So many different flavors that to all are made homemade. Kids flavors are also available. I like the photo they click and update on their wall. Best part is all are made homemade and you can try the flavors before you take it. I would say visit every week in summer. Kids will also love it and they have place to sit outside as well. So just enjoy the indian flavors.
I love love love Mardi Gras. All those kulfi flavors are to die for, and the ice cream cake is highly recommended. My favourite place to get a dessert in columbus.
Owners very helpful & good people .. ice creams taste so good
Really unique and interesting place! My wife and I really enjoyed it.
Its a small family owned store in a strip mall. Everything is homemade. Very creamy. Lots of exotic asian-inspired flavors. Reasonably priced and delicious.
Simply amazing and unique! Seemingly simple in appearance, but the ice cream is fantastic!
Weve been waiting to try this place for awhile and stopped by on a Friday night. We ordered a pint of the lychee and a pint of the chickoo. Both were excellent! I had a hard time deciding on what to get because I wanted to try everything, it all looked delicious! The woman who helped us was knowledgeable and kind. The owner was very friendly! I cant recommend this place enough!
I’ve been here many times. It’s soooo good. The kesar pista and all of the kulfi flavors are amazing.
As always the best taste in town with great flavor
The ice cream there is just good..one would need to go and find out.
Amazing flavors!! Love the Jasmine ❤️
Best ice cream I’ve ever had been going for years, dogs love it too. Love the special flavors but I’m original, cookie dough and mint chocolate chip amazing, Ny Cheese cake is good too!
Amazing ice-cream!! They have a large variety of different flavors to choose from. I personally choose the ones that I dont find at other stores. My personal favorites are RajBhog - It has a rich creamy flavor with tastes of saffron and nuts. Other favors I recommend are Kaju Pista ( Cashew and pistachios). For the fruity flavorss try Custard Apple. Enjoy!!
Truly unique in the city. All the best
Delicious Indian style Kulfi ice cream! Flavors that you cant find anywhere else in Columbus! Guanabana, Jamun, Rose, and much much more. Make sure you taste a few new things before you decide! I had Kachoori Kulfi, which was a rose based ice cream with chia seeds and crunchy vermicelli! Delicious! Seating is very limited and its a kind of weird area (theres a drive through liquor store right next door) but the ice cream is too good to care.
Quaint little mom n pop ice cream spot with super unique, exotic South Asian ice cream flavors
The owners are very pleasant! They have an amazing choice of flavors!
Most underrated ice cream in Columbus!
Very good ice cream with interesting flavor choices
We live just down the street and today I wanted chocolate ice cream. Hubby went and picked up a pint. It is the most delicate chocolate and as creamy as mousse. Amazing ice cream and the people there are sweet.
How often do you get to taste top quality ice cream with flavors from the Indian subcontinent? This is a great place to try new flavors. Skip UDF across the street and check this place out.
Such delicious ice cream, freshly made with no eggs. The custard apple was delicious! The owner was so friendly and helpful helping pick out flavors. I cant wait to go back and try more!
Well, I came here on May 11th at about 2:15 Pm, I went in and... No one was there. We waited about 5 minutes and left with no ice cream.
Gawd I love this place. Flavors you just cant get anywhere else. Just tried the new Raw Mango Sorbet tonight and it was fantastic.
OMG. We went for pick up today with my dad and sister for my birthday, they were nice, last time they were a little impatient, but seeming they are nice people, and their ice cream is so gosh dang good, it also has no eggs. Thats right, no eggs. Also, the ice cream is 100% homemade, made by the lady who runs the place, and hands down, it is a hidden gem, and you better try it.
Variety unique flavors. Almost everybody loves ice cream. Real milk real fruits and real nuts. Great taste.
I had read an article awhile ago about this place and have wanted to try it for months. I was in the area yesterday and it did not disappoint! The owners are the sweetest people and will let you try a ton of samples. The ginger is out of this world, malai kulfi is cardamom heaven, but I think the kesar pista was my favorite. Its all so good, Im kinda bummed I live in Indianapolis, otherwise Id be here weekly.
Great hidden jewel in Columbus. Great ice cream, hand made. All the traditional flavors, plus some added varieties inspired by the owners upbringing in India. Covid friendly measures in place.
Owner gave my husband and I a few tastes when we walked in a month or so ago. He was nice. Everything was homemade and good but not good enough for the price of the non-exotic flavors we chose; Major sticker shock at the counter for the 2 smalls we got. Cool place, just not our thing for the price/amount/quality. Definitely more for people interested in the exotic flavors.
In a city full of great ice cream Mardi Gras has the best. No matter what you get I promise it will be delicious.
Came in for the first time with a few friends yesterday. Loved this place! Friendly service and nice people. You get to try tons of amazing flavors. None of the ones I tried were too sweet either which is a plus! Really enjoyed the papaya, green tea, and rose flavors :) can’t wait to come back!
Fantastic ice cream. All handmade and all of the unique flavors will make you glad youre old enough to have ice cream for breakfast with no one to judge you.
This place is awesome! Fantastic mom & pop ice cream place with lots of great flavors. They also have kulfi, which is an Indian ice cream, some with spices like cardamom, etc. My wife and I had kulfi in Rhode Island once and we were thrilled to find it here!
Hands down, Mardi Gras is THE BEST ice cream in the greater Columbus area! Super flavorful and the texture is heavenly! We stopped here after a very warm trip to the zoo and we were not disappointed! Friendly service AND delicious ice cream-doesnt get better than that! Gotta try their international flavors too!
Sooo yummy.
So many exciting options! We did the three sampler with Indian flavors. So delicious and my kids loved it too! Were moving out of state but I wish I had known about this place sooner. Make this place your ice cream regular stop and you wont regret it!
Big fan!!! Rajbhog is killer!!! Brought home (Georgia) a quart of rajbhog and falooda gulfi, packed in cooler with dry ice.
You saw it here first. The famous magical Unicorn frappuccino. Not available til tomorrow, I wont say which location took pity on me, but as Im having surgery tomorrow and cant have any sugar while this limited edition will be available I told them my situation and this sweet guy made me one even though they dont come out til tomorrow and made me wrap it in a napkin and go out the back door 😂 I will say as pretty as it is its a simple Mango creme frappuccino, it just is brightly colored and the blue drizzle is some kind of sour flavor along with the sprinkles on top being a sour flavor as well. But I truly do not want to know how much sugar it contained be sure I truly felt a sugar high after drinking it. Was nice to get the opportunity to taste but all the hype didnt live up to mythical unicorns. I truly did appreciate the guy willing to break Starbucks rules and allow me a special preview due to my situation. People are seriously flipping over this drink its kinda insane! It is just a drink at the end of the day. #unicornfrappuccino #starbucks #starbucksunicornfrappuccino #frappuccino #unicorns #sweetandsour #starbuckssecretmenu #starbuckslimitededition #nounicornswereharmed
Delicious!Real ice cream that doesnt melt in 5 seconds and the owners are so nice! If you like ginger with a kick theirs is to die for.
Ginger ice scream - delicious!
Unfortunately I didnt take a picture of my ice cream cone but it doesnt matter because my dislike was with the flavor I received. I ordered New York cheesecake but the flavor didnt match up at all. I really dont know what it tasted like but it was sweet and creamy. If I tried a different flavor maybe my rating would change. No issues with the service, just the flavoring wasnt for me.
Wonderfully delicious. The flavors of several of their ice creams are unique in their fruit and spice blends. Many are of Indian inspiration. Others are more traditional. If youve ever liked Jenis Ice Cream then you need to visit this delightful shop. It is almost guaranteed you will be back again.Yum!
Been going there for years. Love their ice cream.
Great ice cream. They have the regulars and fantastic unique flavors!
129 flavors from many countries. If you bring the owner a recipe, shell make it and sell it in the store. I love this place! I used to take all my dates here. Now I take my boyfriend.
Hot fudge sundae with pistachio ice cream, pecans, whipped cream, and a cherry! Its the best, and the ice cream is made right in the store!
Lived off of Hard road for 10 years and never knew this place was an ice cream shop. It has all the usual flavors you would expect, but as a bonus it carries unique tastes like ginger and green tea. All of the ice cream is truly handmade and contains little chunks of the signature flavors ingredient.I never would have tried this place had not my more adventurous foodie friend insisted. The outside and interior needs a polish. But the owners were friendly and patient.5 stars for the ice cream selection and owners.3 stars for the unintended dated look.
Always order the international flavors. Sweet Rose is to die for.
Indian flavored ice cream available love the place.
This is truly the hidden gem of Ice Cream places in Columbus (although they were recently featured in the New York Times - so not so hidden any more haha). There is an amazing variety of flavors to pick from, including many flavors from India that are hard to come by in Central Ohio. I highly recommended this place!
Amazing small-batch in-house creative ice cream experience not to be missed! Be bold and get away from plain vanilla. Cardamom, cashew, honey, chili...so many choices which bring you back again and again. Wonderful pride in ownership and in these flavors you will not find anywhere else!
You seriously cannot beat this ice cream. Easy contender for best ice cream in Columbus. I really recommend asking for guidance in flavor choices because they are happy to help explain, and let you test them. I also say get out of the comfort zone, because I tried 3 scoops of flavors I didnt recognize and walked out of that place happy as can be.I expect to be gaining some weight soon with how often I plan to visit.
Flavors you wont find anywhere else + classics. All great quality. My personal favorite is Jamun flavor.😋
My friends wanted be to try out their ice cream and it was good. I was so full from my dinner but my son wanted ice cream, I ended up eating his chocolate ice cream! Yummy
Amazing homemade flavors, some exotic and international. Great mom and pop atmosphere. Staff helpful and knowledgeable about ice cream even helping to make suggestions on flavors. Will come again!
Been coming here since I first moved to the neighborhood and I was pregnant with my baby girl. Shes 13 now and her and her brother love the story we get to tell from the photo there on the wall of us together having our first experience with the best ice cream parlor in town before she was even born. The selection here is amazing. You can not find the exotic flavors they have here anywhere else in town. Best ice cream in Dublin, hands down!
If the new York times tells you a Columbus Ohio ice cream spot is really good, you better get in there and check it out. So good.
Absolutely the best homemade ice cream around. Fantastic local creations and a variety of unique international flavors. It may not look like much from the outside, but the owners are some of the nicest people you will ever meet, and we cant get enough of their ice cream! The ice cream cakes are also wonderful.
Excellent
Cute little mom and pop ice cream shop! The owners are super sweet. The ice cream is delicious and there are lots of flavor choices. They also make cakes.
Ice creams are good no doubt about it.LET ME WARN ABOUT OWNERS:Old Indian lady is racist, selfish, heartless person -- I have better explanation below.1st time: When I visited this place I was very excited to taste some of Indian flavors. But totally disappointed with her behavior, she ignored me when I asked her and made some wired faces.2nd time: I was lucky, no owners and I enjoyed my ice creams and tried diff flavors.3rd time(08/06/2018): I called store to check if there is any Roasted Banana flavor Ice cream.Indian lady picked and told me it is available, I drove 5miles to get. And when I reached the store then there was hardly 1 scoop of Roasted Banana flavor Ice cream, if there wasnt any she would have said NO. Moreover she charged me for 1 scoop (it was less the scoop).I think she has problem with Indians or may be ALL SHE CARE ABOUT WHITE PEOPLE.1 star is for OWNER, not for Ice cream
Excellent ice cream, with unique (to the USA) flavors!
To date this is the best hidden secret I have found in all of Columbus. The people are the most friendly and welcoming. The ice cream is always fresh and the flavors are out of this world. Stumbled upon this treat on my way to pick up pizza one day. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!
This place is truly a hidden gem in Columbus. Some of the most amazing and imaginative ice cream Ive ever had anywhere. There is a flavor for everyone, but dont be afraid to try something you may not know how to pronounce!
Absolutely the nicest husband and wife duo own and work the ice cream shop. Always a pleasant welcome when you walk in and they have my favorite Cinnamon ice cream and Mint Oreo ice cream.
Hidden gem. Unique Asian flavors of ice cream. Go in and try several. Loved the ginger ice cream and the saffron and pistachio is really good.
A great place to get home made ice cream which is not overly sweet like most big chain ice cream shops. You can actually taste the flavor which the ice cream says it is. Good scoop sizes as well and decently priced.
Best homemade ice cream hands down!
The shop owner is adorable. We asked how she comes up with her flavors. She replied everything I eat, I think in ice cream. We are kindred souls. 😉 their international flavors are extremely unique. Definitely try kulfi (which is an Indian ice cream). My Favorite flavor is ginger.
Quality ice cream shop. My first time there after many suggestions from friends. I had a double scoop of Lychee and Mountain Blackberry. Very good ice cream. Thick, smooth, good flavor, but not too intense.
Interesting, rare flavors that are hard to find in this country! Parking is pretty easy although ingress and egress can be tricky. There are pictures all over the walls of happy customers and their kids. I go here whenever Im in Columbus.
A wonderful, family-run ice cream parlor where you can go off the beaten path, and try some amazing Indian-inspired flavors! Dont settle for the basic flavors here (although theyre very good); instead, try apple custard, or saffron, or cardamom, or lychee. The very friendly staff will help you find your perfect cone. You wont be disappointed!
