I had a very slow leak in one of my tires and took the vehicle to the Gervais st Firestone yesterday afternoon. There was no sidewall damage on the tyre, and the lady could not locate any nail or something to cause the leak. Left the vehicle overnight. Received a call before 8am and was told that there was a nail in the side wall and I needed a new tire costing ~$175. I am worried if the problem was properly diagnosed. This is the second time in one month! Please investigate.

Told me that the repairs to get my car to ride normally would cost close to $2000. Then, told me that they couldnt work on my vehicle because it was an engine problem and they dont work on engines (which is understandable, so Im not upset at that). Went to another auto shop and they were able to fix it for under $800 and the problem wasnt even the engine.

No one contracted me that the time was not available.Their booking system is completely broken. The guy explained that The computer system does not have real time booking info. Even if it shows open appointments, they are not accurate. In fact, they are booked solid for two weeks. This is unacceptable in this day and age. The lesson is to call them and not use the useless online booking feature which just adds another layer of complexity to their service

I took my car to get two tires on the front end, front end wheel alignment and an oil change. It took them about 2 hours and after the told me I will need some brakes soon and I was like ok. So I left and everything seems ok. When I started to slow down I can feel the wheels wobbled as if the tire will come right off. So I took it back and told them about the issue I was having that I didnt have before I took my car there. The guy got in my car and took around the corner and brought it back. They called me to the counter and said you need brake pad and rotors without ever accessing the car at all. I ask why I said how you know I need brakes or rotors when you never he checked to see whats causing the wobble all of sudden. He had no answer but it cost me about 600 dollars to do both. They try to find ways to get money for services you really dont need. It makes no sense to try to scam, lie and rip people off.

I tried repeatedly to make an appointment for a tire rotation online and via phone, but all to no avail. Im not sure how this place ever gets any business, as I tried calling at least 5 times and nobody ever picked up. When I attempted to make appointments online, the system was entirely kafkaesque--they ask you to schedule an appointment without providing you with time slots that are actually available, so if you choose one that is in fact already booked, rather than this location offering you an alternate time by email or phone, they simply cancel your appointment and leave you to guess at making another appointment that may (or may not) actually be available (INSANE!!!). If you get frustrated by this system and try to call them directly, (in my experience) they wont answer. Id recommend going elsewhere, as this business idea of customer service is lackluster at best, and they seem keen on wasting their clients time.

I am completely and utterly amazed at how easily this Firestone location tries to rip people off. And I hate to even say this, but they most definitely try to rip off women. My car was dropped off at Firestone last Friday for a simple AC tune and check. It needed to be refilled, recharged, and needed a fuse, done quickly and correctly, as I am selling the car. When I picked my car up that evening and paid a ridiculous amount for the service, mind you, I did leave with the cold air blowing and was satisfied. The next day, I was on the way to take my car to the person I am selling it to, when all of a sudden, it’s blowing hotter air than even the heat does. So I take another trip back to the Firestone for them to have another look at it. All of a sudden, they are telling me it needs a new AC compressor and condenser for a whopping $1300. I come from a family of mechanics (who do not live locally, or I would use them and would have never gone to such a place), and I know that the repair they said was needed is pricey, it is nowhere near being that pricey. But even so, why, if this was the problem the entire time, was this issue not noticed the first time I brought the car in???? After some deliberation and discussion with the person buying it, I calmly left the Firestone with my car and we made the decision to hold off on taking it to the person buying so we could get this situation fixed. I decided to take it to a local, reliable mechanic who was recommended to me. This mechanic was able to tell me that not only were they lying to me about needing a compressor and condenser to try and get my money, but they also had only charged my AC halfway!!!! I am infuriated at the entire situation and that I was scammed. Not only did it mess up my entire day, now I am out of more than I should be, and the person buying my car has had to wait an extra week to get it because of Firestone’s mistakes and scams. I will be contacting the manager or corporate, as I hope to make sure this type of business does not continue or happen to anyone else. I am also hoping they will offer me some kind of compensation because I literally wasted my money paying them.

I should be able to comfortably go to a auto repair shop and trust in the experts to get great service for my car. A company I can trust. My wife went to NTB on Broad River to get a new tire and new front and back breaks and they were joking and giggling amongst themselves. Then they quoted us $1,125 for just the front brakes! Something did not sit well with my wife and she went over to Firestone to get a second opinion. Brett helped us out and quoted us around $600 for the front AND back brakes! My car was overheating, so on the recommendation of the AAA guy who towed my car, I took it to this Firestone. They charged me $25 for a diagnostic test (ugh) then told me itd be around $1,500 to fix my car because the entire cooling system needed to be replaced. They said I needed a new fan clutch, water pump, all new hoses, etc. My car wasnt worth much at the time so I did not want to spend that much and decided to get a second opinion. I took my car to a locally-owned auto mechanic in the area and he told me the only part that needed replacing was the fan clutch and he did the repair for $500. This was 2 years ago and my car is still running fine - no problems with the engine or cooling system. NEVER take your car to Firestone, they will nickel and dime you and tell you your car needs repairs that it actually doesnt so they can make more money off you.

Again they weren’t rotated! When I called they said because The tires on the back were in better condition so they decided not to rotate them or inform of this.I bought the tires there and had them rotated every 5k miles there (or so I thought) so there shouldn’t at all be any uneven wear. They were not at all helpful in trying to fix the situation.I get the feeling that they don’t care about people there. When I received my car back they were gone. Someone helped me search my car and they could not find them anywhere. Stay far far away if you want your car repaired correctly. My family has always used Firestone for their cars but I have never liked the work they have done. Always try and find something wrong with your car for once. One time will say I needed a new belt but I would take it to another shop the same week and they said the belts were perfectly fine. Bought the life time alignment (which always seemed to be on sale btw) and my car still pulled off the road. Took it back and still did not drive correctly. Ended up taking it to a local shop to have them align it and they said they missed one of the angles. Should of just taken it there in the first place and bought there one time alignment instead of wasting money at Firestone. Also had a tire pressure sensor changed and the light is still on. Have taken it back twice now and they can not fix the issue and are trying to say I have a bad computer in my car. Took the vehicle to another shop and they read the sensors and said there is a conflicting sensor and one is not connected. Firestone refuses to make this issue correct. Needless to say me and my family will no longer be doing business with Firestone. There are many locally owned shops in Columbia that will fix only things that are broken and fix it the first time.

Staff told me my subframe was bent and I needed a new engine cradle..... Went to a body shop. They tell me that is completely untrue and the only problem is some cosmetic damage to the undercarriage. Please get a 2nd opinion before getting anything repaired.

They gave me an estimate of $908 for a water pump & some hoses & labor. Took my truck to NTB. DID NOT NEED A WATEE PUMP! NTB checked my coolant leak in front of me & the pressure showed where my coolant leak was coming from. Nothing wrong with my water pump. They are swindlers. Wonder if it had anything to do with my race (black).

Not all Firestones are bad, but this one is. Because I live DT/On Campus. It was the most convenient and walk-able place to get to. Ive been dealing with them for 3+ years and every time I go there for one problem, another one immediately arises. Previous reviews that said if you went there for a problem and they would add on an alternator problem are correct. I still believe they did this to some extent even after changing management. One time I took my car in for a battery change and the car keep stopping in motion. I drove it back and called another mechanic and they fixed it right in eye shot of them (they didnt strip the wires correctly apparently). Corporate needs to step in and see whats going on with this particular store. You cant cut quality just because your guaranteed to get a lot of customers because of the location. If your able to and want to take it to a Firestone, go to Garners Ferry or Harbison; nice guys over there.

Its not one of the best places that I have ever been because the customer service is not all what it could be some of the employees there are prejudice. The tires are worth the value 👌.

As someone who works in the customer service industry, I very rarely call to complain about service, let alone write reviews about it. However, I feel as though my experience with this Firestone needs to be shared. I had a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe. It had a number of problems that come with an old car-transmission issues, brakes, tires, etc. Firestone did a very nice job of taking care of them, and, although it was pricey on a college students budget, I trusted them. A few weeks ago my Santa Fes emergency brake light came on. I thought nothing of it, but went to Firestone for them to look at it. It turned out that I had a leak in the brake fluid line. Jason actually took me out to the car while it was raised to show me it. He told me that that was the reason my light was on. Unfortunately, they could not fix the leak themselves because, being from Ohio, the bottom of the car was too rusty. I asked him if it would be okay to drive it back to my parents house in Asheville to get it fixed up there. He told me it would be safe to drive it to Asheville. Later that day, a maintenance guy at my work place looked at the car and found out that there was absolutely no brake fluid in the tank. That was something that Jason had completely over looked. Not that big of a deal, but a little irritating. I filled up the tank with brake fluid, only to find out that about six hours later, the entire tank had drained, and on my way back to my apartment that night, I had to use the emergency brake to stop. My brakes no longer worked. I was appalled at the fact that Jason told me my car would be safe enough to drive 3 hours on a highway through the mountains when I couldnt even make it from Five Points to the football stadium. I ended up getting a new car, and about a week into driving that my check engine light came on. I decided to give this Firestone the benefit of the doubt, and called to make an appointment for an engine diagnostic. As I mentioned before, I am not one to complain about service, but had anything actually happened to me with my brakes, they could have faced a law suit, and I felt obligated to notify someone of Jasons mistake. I called and spoke to Ruay, explained the whole situation, and he was in shock that one of his employees would actually tell me that my car was safe to drive when it very obviously wasnt. I told him that I understood that, but that there was in fact a mistake made. Ruay didnt even ask me which worker made the mistake, and actually accused me of making the whole thing up. Then he put me on hold for a few minutes, came back, and told me that my business would probably be more beneficial elsewhere. They apparently would rather not have my business ever again than admit that they messed up. I wasnt even asking to gain anything from this. I simply wanted someone to know about it. I really would not recommend this Firestone to any college student, especially one who is like me and knows absolutely nothing about cars.

The worst experience at a repair shop Ive ever had: car was brought in to have brake discs turned. Store manager described an additional critical and necessary rebuild that would double the cost. After investigation, he was referring to cleaning and re-lubing the guide pin that the brake caliper slides on. He was deliberately misleading me as to the severity of the issue to encourage me to get the repair.During the repair the mechanic broke a part on the brakes (later found out it was just the brake caliper bracket, though I was initially told I would have to pay to have the bracket ($40) and caliper ($100) replaced). The store manager called to inform me that I would have to pay for the additional parts and labor (tripling the cost of the initial repair). While questioning why I was incurring the cost, the manager repeatedly raised his voice and cut me off, then he threatened to throw the car back together as is and the brake would fall off (since I was being a tough guy). After telling me they would install a cheaper part if I found one (which is against company policy), I contacted their regional manager. I was without my car for 4 days and although the regional manager resolved the issue, I was more than displeased and down right insulted to be treated so disrespectfully. Do not go to this shop. If management behaves this way then its a problem endemic of the entire shop.
