While at the Clayton Harvest Festival, I took the opportunity to check out the Yellow House in Clayton. I have to share! The owner, Mrs. Elaine, was so kind and welcoming. Everything there is so beautiful! If I had a little girl, I would be booking the upstairs fairy room for tea party!

I guess we went on an off day, because our experience did not compare to other reviews. Maybe if we had sat inside or on the deck, our experience would have been better. We chose to sit on the lawn, but we were swarmed by flies. At first it was one annoying fly, but once the food came, there were at least a dozen. I couldnt eat my food fast enough. I kept expecting I would eat a fly, they were that aggressive. The cold pineapple tea was terrible, even with sugar, and the coffee was served with sugar substitute and no spoon. The server was very attentive, and the food was very good, with generous portions. I think more care should be a given to properly cleaning tables, as opposed to coming out with a rag and smearing what was left on the glass--perhaps a cleaning agent and paper towels. This lack of attention might also have contributed to the presence of the flies, but Ive eaten outdoors before elsewhere and have never had this experience. I took my check inside to pay and to look at the little gift shop, but I felt very much in the way of the servers swinging by with trays that it took any of the enjoyment out of browsing. Then I just left to continue my browsing in town.

We are so happy to have found this charming place!!! We came here for High Tea to celebrate my Mom’s 70th birthday and had the most AMAZING time! Not only was the food and tea phenomenal (and such a great value for the amount you get!), but Elaine (the owner) and all the ladies who worked there were super sweet and friendly! They each went above and beyond to make sure we felt special and were well taken care of. We will definitely be coming back here and will be telling our friends and family about it as well! Try it out for yourself—you won’t be disappointed! :-)

My young daughter and I visited for the first time today. We had lunch and preferred indoor seating. All staff members were friendly and helpful. While we waited for our food, we explored all the pretty for-sale items in the various rooms. We also walked around outside to see all the beautiful flowers. The best part: the amazing food. It was fresh, homemade, and reasonably priced. Oh, and the owners both came by to say hi at different points during our visit. They were very kind and genuine. I cant wait to go back!

Yellow House is what every town wishes they had. An owner who cares about the community and those who enter through the door. The atmosphere is quaint and unique. The bakery and gift shop inside is fabulous. My mom and I had the pleasure of sitting on the wrap around porch of the old yellow house and enjoying mimosas and a BLT while sharing at blooming crepe myrtles against the blue sky. Service was impeccable, food was scrumptious. I just wish I lived in Clayton to patron them more often. You can certainly tell this is their dream. Ill recommended to anyone and everyone!

Went to the Yellow House for the bridal expo and it was great! They have an in house baker who had had soooo many treats for us to try; every table had deserts. Plus there was a wine bar with mimosas and mimosas are never a bad thing. One of the employees directed me to this wedding blend coffee which smells heavenly and I love that they grind the beans right there for you. The owner was so sweet and funny and explained all the different events we could hold. I will definitely be coming back for brunch and high tea!

The Yellow House is a real gem in the heart of the old town of Clayton. Its unique in eclectic ambience, has two great gift shops, a fabulous bakery, and lovely, large sunny room in the back for sit down dining. Iunderstand that in good weather there is outdoor seating as well. PLUS, the food is terrific. There were three of us the day I went and we were all happy with our choices from the large and varied menu. One of my friends who was born n raised in Clayton, is acquainted with someone who grew up in this place when it was a family home....knowing this made it extra special. You cant go just one time and take it all in, so I for one am going back!

So I try not to write reviews unless they’re positive, I do not believe it helps nor is it kind - but after my last experience a couple of weekends ago I will say this. I have been through roughly 8 times since they opened. Considering it’s such a large place, it should be easy to social distance etc and have enough room for all guests.Covid is real, no matter what you think or feel about it. Just because you can choose to allow unfettered access to your business and or enforce mask protocols it doesn’t mean you should. Other businesses follow protocols yet for some reason the staff at yellow house believe masks are unnecessary (around your chin/only mouth) and allow folks to *literally* squeeze into the small rooms en masse - unmasked. Stopped by a few weeks ago and observed this all from standing out on the deck. I really do think this does a disservice to the other businesses in Clayton which diligently follow proper guidelines. My suggestion to you all is to enforce better guidelines. I am Sure you will have reams of customers who do not care, so this will make no difference to you, but super spreader events can still happen despite the vaccine - so next time there are multiple older folk herded into a small room like that please try think with your morals not your bank account.

Last weekend, I took my mother-in-law to the Yellow House for lunch that we rarely get to have just together. We were both very excited. Upon arriving, we were told that it would be 15-20 minutes to be seated because “the servers needed to feel comfortable with their amount of tables” even though there was plenty of seating available. After looking around inside, we were told we could be seated. We quickly ordered waters, an appetizer, and 2 entrees. After a while, we received our appetizer, but desperately needed more water. Our waitress brought water but spilled it all over the table and my mother-in-law. Time went by minute by minute, and we still were without our entrees. After waiting an hour and half without our food, we decided it would be best to leave and find lunch elsewhere. When we told our waitress, she said that she had to re-enter our order because another waiter had thought it was theirs and took it to their table. She reassured us that it would be out in less than 10 minutes. 15 minutes passed and still no food. We said that we just wanted the check and wanted to leave. Upon paying, there was apparently not enough cash in the register to make change for a twenty, so we had to again wait for our waitress to find change in the back. Sadly, I will never go back to the Yellow House due to the extreme time waited for our food that we never received and also the lack of care or attention exhibited by our waitress that we had to wait so long.

My family and I were excited to try The Yellow house and left so disappointed. We were sat quickly, which was good but the outside area had quite the eclectic decor; but it was nice to enjoy the weather. It took well over 15 mins to be served our overly sweetened iced tea (which were never refilled again) when I asked about ordering grilled chicken for my daughter who has an allergy. The waitress informed us that the kids chicken come frozen and they just cook it.... so nothing is really fresh. I ordered the Caesar Salad which came out wilted and slightly warm. My husband ordered the BLT which lacked good quality ingredients as well and very little bacon and wilted lettuce. It took forever to receive our food which is really surprising seeming that it wasn’t fresh ingredients made in more than just a toaster oven.We had high hopes for this place, we had little patience left that we did not try the bakery... this place would be great if it left the food out of it and maybe stuck to the drinks...The owner also stopped by our table before we ordered and made it known that COVID isn’t a very big deal to him.So if you don’t think COVID is a big deal and you want food made in a toaster oven than this is the place for you!

Took my parents in here for what we thought would be a nice lunch and to look around not very long ago. There was only one person who worked there who was wearing a mask, out of the handful of workers we saw. The individual wearing a mask checked us out when we purchased a gift. However, we left after and didnt eat there because the greeters were not wearing masks, the young individuals behind the food counter were not wearing masks, people who worked there that were walking around asking if you needed assistance were not wearing masks, and most shockingly, there were people in the kitchen not wearing masks. This virus is killing more and more people every single day. None of us are immune. I love supporting small businesses, especially during this time- but this is cruel, selfish, and idiotic. We must protect ourselves and others- and by not wearing masks... and serving food on top of that...thats absurd to me.

The owners/employees are always super nice & friendly. The place is decorated beautifully. The only thing I dont like is how expensive everything is. I know little local stores, boutiques, etc are in fact going to be more expensive however I really think the prices here are way way too inflated. Each time I have been into this store (which has been about ten times) Ive wanted to buy several different things; unfortunately I left without buying anything because the prices were just not reasonable. The free gift wrapping service they offer is awesome & I have seen that they do a great job, but that doesnt justify for me at least the high prices. I would rather things be cheaper/affordable and I can wrap them at home myself. Overall: great shop, great people. Just too expensive for me. :)

If I could give this zero stars, I would. I will not ever be going back. Ive been 3 times and ordered Grubhub several more times. We were a party of 4. 2 of us ordered high tea. I specifically asked for 2 tiers since we were offered one each the last time. The other 2 ordered off the menu. I asked about the charcuterie tray since there was no info on the menu. Waiter did not know anything about it and went to check. I also asked about a specific tea. He didnt know that either. He came back and said you could get the tray for 2,4,or 6. So we ordered 4. He didnt mention the price. I asked the hostess when she came over if he was new. She said he was not. He brought out waters for us after asking. Then the 2 menu items, still not tea nor the charcuterie tray. We had no silverware. We asked and he said he would bring it. By the time he brought the silverware, the girls had already eaten half of their sandwiches and most of their mac n cheese, with their fingers and no napkins. We kept asking for the tea, and the charcuterie. We were told that they were very busy and short staffed. It didnt look busy since we were seated right away. He then brought the charcuterie tray, still no tea. We had to keep asking for water refills. We finished that and then finally one of the teas came out. I had asked when i ordered for honey and sugar. His response was we always bring it out. Then after a time, the other tea with honey and sugar came out. He brought about a half tsp of honey and 2 sugar cubes. By that time, the first tea was lukewarm. Finally, after we were done with the tea and the others were done with their menu items, they brought out 1 tier for the both of us. I asked him why we didnt get the 2 tiers since I had asked for it and are paying for it. He said that they doubled everything. Not true. we got 5 chicken salad, 3 deviled eggs, only one of each of the sweets, nothing was doubled. The items on the tray looked like they were put together by a toddler. Some items had a ton of topping, others of the same thing had a tiny smear. We called the hostess over and told her all of our complaints. Her response what would you like me to do?. She then called the manager over and we relayed again all that had happened. They again said that they were so busy. This was not what happens when you are busy. Ive worked in restaurants before. The order of the food, not getting refills, no silverware, etc. The manager said she would give us 50% off the bill. We got the bill and it was $66 and that was half off, which meant I would have paid $144 for 2 high teas, pesto chicken sandwich, cesaer salad, 2 waters, and 2 teas. When i looked at the bill I saw that the charcuterie tray was $50, this should have been told to us. When i mentioned to the waiter that he didnt tell us that it was $50, he said well you got a huge discount. We told him that he should have told us how much it was since it wasnt on the menu. I have given them multiple chances and I will not go back, nor will i recommend.

Waited another 15 mins to even get our drinks (waters and mimosas) to our table. Half the meals were incorrect, half the checks were incorrect, and the server didn’t bring one of the customers DEBIT CARD back.
