Saved the day! I have taken my Powell to 3 well known pro repairmen and they never were able to figure out the problem. I drove from several states away to take it here. Pat put it on her work table and gave me a cup of coffee and told me not to worry. A half hour later, the problem was fixed. She showed me what was going on (Im not technical at all). It seemed simple but what ever it was wasnt allowing the upper half of the flute to work properly. But like anything, it wouldnt do it when I would try to make it happen. I was ready to take time off work and stay over. No need. It has been a few weeks now and it hasnt happened again. I doubt it will. So worth the trip.

I just wanted to commend this place. I brought my son in because we thought he was having trouble with his flute. He was so discouraged and his band director told him he shouldnt be playing flute. He was just terrible to him. There were just some adjustments to do and we picked it up a few days later. She spent time with Ben and really helped him blow it better. Hes not having trouble anymore and his band director is leaving him alone now. I appreciate her time so much. UPDATE! This is the start of a new school year... and new school. My son just got first chair in his band! This has really given him the boost he needed for a kid starting at a new school. His grades are better and his attitude at home is even improved! Amazing.

Cincinnati Fluteworks did a great job fixing my sweet Haynes flute. It has been a long time since I had it worked on and I really forgot how well it CAN play. But I dont think its played this well since it was new, and it even looks beautiful. I have a very light touch and Pats padding was so careful I have no trouble at all. Everything is meticulously done. Every other person Ive taken it to Ive had to take it back several times because I think they have a heavier touch. I couldnt be happier! - And she makes great coffee! Highly recommended!

I just wanted to get on to praise these people. I teach at a College in the south with a good sized studio. This time I was looking for a flute for myself - as close to my old Powell as possible - but with a better scale and projection. My old flute was purchased in 1951 - a few years ago! It has served me well, but it is time for better! Pat talked to me for quite a while and gathered what she thought would fit the bill. Bullseye! Thank you so much. I didnt think it was possible. I was putting up with the old guy needlessly. Ill be recommending Cincinnati Fluteworks to my kids!

This repair person has taken advantage of numerous clients and accosted many professional level instruments by selling them to a local pawn shop. Yes, that’s right literally selling the instruments of those who entrust them to her. I encourage Pat to respond.

I would like to say that I have really enjoyed doing business with Cincinnati Fluteworks. Not only are their products of excellent quality, but prices reasonable and staff very friendly and helpful. For the past 4 years, when my students have needed to buy a flute or needed a repair, I have sent them here and I assure you I will continue to do so. Thank you!

Their Ebay store gets 2 thumbs up! Two months ago I bought a couple gifts for students and they shipped in 2 days, which was great. I received them quickly and the students were thrilled. I went Christmas shopping for myself the other day thinking most small stores wouldnt ship at this late date to arrive before Christmas. They shipped the same day of my order - free shipping - and I already received it! Its a beautiful leather case cover. I love it - and the service got quicker before Christmas! The Amazon of the flute universe! Thank you!

There is an ongoing investigation with a detective regarding stolen musical instruments. When confronted Pat blocks her victims or tries to lie saying she is still in possession of instrument in question yet we have found several of these instruments having been sold already by her nearby pawn shop. She belongs in jail! Awful person. The most recent 5* reviews were clearly posted by her. Ridiculous!

I sent my flute to get repairs and kept getting put off about when I would get it back. What I had been told would be a turn-around of about two weeks ended up taking more than four months. After my flute had been received, there were no updates on the work as promised. I had to keep calling from new numbers because none of the calls from my phone were answered (except once). Once my parents had called, their phone, too, kept getting sent to an answering machine. There was a lot of run-around when I did get through on the phone. I am grateful to finally have my flute back, and the work seems to be done correctly, but the way things were handled was completely unprofessional and sketchy.

Cincinnati Fluteworks really resurrected my old Professional Powell flute this summer that Ive had for many years. Im afraid I havent had it serviced regularly as Pat recommended, but it has turned out beautifully and returned in a really reasonable amount of time. Ive forgotten how well it could play - if I kept up the repairs. I wont be waiting this long again. As a note about how detailed Pat is...she found a leak in a tone hole that I would have never noticed, but has a big effect on my low notes. She was also able to smooth and fit the mechanism so it is quieter and is so much easier. Im so pleased.

I just received my Muramatsu flute back from Cincinnati Fluteworks. I took it in to see if the tuning and low notes could be improved. I really thought I was looking at having to buy a new flute, but after asking me a lot of questions and really examining it, Pat, the technician, saw that the head joint cork had dried up and had shrunk and the several keys had small leaks that I couldnt see. She worked at it in between bigger repairs and I had it back in time for my rehearsal 3 days later. It now plays like it is supposed to and Im relieved I dont have to spend money on a new flute. I was surprised she took so much time meeting with me while I was there and explained how the problems effected how the flute played. She welcomed me to her house even. I know she is nursing an injury, and I wish her the best of health. She saved my gig.

I paid Pat North of Cincinnati Fluteworks a total of $1,784.50 to overhaul my Sankyo and an antique Armstrong, as well as to do annual maintenance of an Emerson piccolo. She retrieved the instruments from me in Indiana in November of 2018, indicating she could have them done within a week or two because business was slow. She claimed bronchitis in mid-January 2019 and a heart attack in late February 2019. In fact, on the very day we had arranged for me to drive to Cincinnati to retrieve all three instruments (presumeably ready for me), she texted me while I was en route to say she was going to the hospital. After much back and forth and threats to call police, she returned the Sankyo and Emerson via Fed Ex in April of 2019. I had to take the Emerson elsewhere to fix a problem she had not fixed, which cost me about $43. The Sankyo at least appeared to have new pads and a polished finish. After a few back-and-forth emails in May of 2019 promising to send the Armstrong Friday or next week or within the next few days and so on, she stopped communicating with me for about a month, then said the Armstrong would be done within a few days. She last emailed me on July 12, 2019, via an email address she hasnt used since 2012, to let me know she would make arrangements to get the Armstrong back to me next week. With each email/text/FB message, the tone is as if everything is normal and she usually thanks me for my patience. As of this date (7/22/19), I still do not have the instrument back.

I have been a flute teacher/music teacher/musician for over 25 years. Do NOT use Cincinnati Fluteworks. I would give a negative rating if possible. 21 years ago I sent in my flute to be overhauled. It was great BUT I tried to use a few years ago and terrible experience!! I sent in my husband’s flute, my flute & my piccolo the beginning of the 2nd school semester (Jan/Feb) thinking it would be slower season & I would get back in time for Easter season. Pat North PROMISED a few weeks for at least the first flute. After many calls, excuses (that changed every time I talked with her) & months later I needed my piccolo before July 4. Still no flutes or piccolo. Had to BUY another piccolo for July 4 performance. After another very serious call & suggestion I should take legal actions, I told her to give back my instruments. I had paid in full. Finally got instruments after July 4! Just found out by another technician last week (March 2019) that she just put the flute together and didn’t really do the (pads) job correctly. Maybe she does a good job face to face (locally) but terrible if you have to ship to her. Do not use this place! I also suggest if you do use, keep track & use legal action if she doesn’t follow through!Follow-up post after above review.Pat thank you for your reply but you didn’t understand my post. I’m not having problems with my husband’s flute. AND I didn’t use CF 7 mos ago. That must have been another unhappy customer. I used CF 21 yrs ago & it was great. Used others technicians in between that time & tried CF again a few years ago for the 2nd time. My review was about when I used you the 2nd time. It wasn’t 7 mos ago as your reply stated. I hadn’t used any technician since I used your services the SECOND time because I was so afraid of anyone touching my Haynes flute after using you. You had my flute, my husband’s flute & my piccolo for over 6 mos. The last of many phone calls stated you had health issues but you said, “eh, well it was actually a family member” and really not you, then, same conversation, “well, it was my BIL” and then it was actually your ex-BIL. The conversation kept changing. I never got a straight answer why over 6 mos when 3 weeks was promised. The technician I just used (March 2019) said you used professional pads but didn’t secure/glue/?? the pads or shims in. (Side note...Yes, he is also qualified to put in Straubinger pads/he’s on the list. Responding to a comment in your reply. No, those weren’t the pads used and I didn’t request them from you). This would actually make sense because I was so worried about not getting my instruments back that I told you that I wanted instruments back immediately. So I guess you sent them without actually finishing them but you sure did take the full payment. There was no discount for the huge inconvenience of Palm Sunday, Easter season and the fact I had to BUY a second piccolo for July 4! I called everyone I could to borrow. During this time I started reading online reviews and saw you had problems before this. That’s why I was getting afraid after the first month of no instruments. I sent the instruments based on my 1st experience. My 2nd experience was exactly like the negative reviews I read.

If I could give a negative review I would. Pat has had my 1915 Djalma Julliot since January 2018. At her insistence, I prepaid $2000 in January for restoration of my flute, and sent my payment via FEDEX overnight. I have recently learned my flute is at a pawn shop and it appears that little to NO work has been done. I am devastated!

My experience echos the reviewer who paid for rehaul and has yet to get her flute back. I paid in July because Pat said it was on the bench and nearly ready. And when could I send money? I sent her payment in full the next day. Since then multiple excuses. I, too, am heartbroken.

This place is a sham. They are taking money from customers to repair their flutes or sell them and pocketing the money. There are police reports galore and many disgruntled clients.
