Having these folks as a convenient neighborhood store is an unqualified blessing. Ok, perhaps the prices are a bit higher than the big box stores in the burbs, but I figure it evens out since I don’t have to DRIVE to the burbs.Free parking, the expertise of the staff and the amazing selection for such a small store? Welcome icing on the cake.

Staff is excellent! Very helpful. Its not a big box store so they dont have everything but they seem to usually have what you usually need.

Every business in America should have to take a course in customer service from this Ace location. I have been a customer for many, many years and have utilized this hardware store for everything from key duplication to fertilizer to kerosene to yard signage,bolts for a server rack, chains for a zipline, wood screws for my deck, paint - traditional for inside walls and spray for outside walls, lawnmower oil, filters, fasteners, tools ...the list goes on and on. The realization that I was personally helped by someone who either recognized I needed assistance and offered it or accurately, professionally and whole-heartedly responded to my inquiry was staggering. I had been satisfactorily assisted in nearly EVERY visit Ive ever made to that store, regardless of how much I was spending, what it was I was needing, what my appearance was, what mood I was in or how unrealistically quickly I needed something - the amazing staff at the Ludlow ACE store had me, and assumedly everyone else,, covered. I say everyone else because at no time did I think I was receiving preferential treatment, or the attention of an overzealous employee or was the benefactor of an upside to the random swings of customer care. It should also be said that Im not known there nor have I ever had friends or family under in their employ, I just I truly believe that this location and its employees offer amazing and consistent customer service - regardless of who that customer is, how much they may spend or whatever the employees may have going on that would affect their engagements that day. This review, by the way, comes on the heels of a recent visit when after my vague and incomplete idea of what I was doing was expressed to an employee, they spent upwards of 15 minutes narrowing down what tool and size I may be needing, inquiring further into my requirements only to arrive at a solution, ie a tool they had in hand, comparably priced and ready to sell when they concluded with this: Because of the scope and duration of my project as well as other factors like possibility of reuse of the tool they recommended that I rent the tool......from someone elses business......because THATS WHAT WOULD BE BEST FOR YOU, OUR CUSTOMER.Just to reiterate. After spending 15 minutes helping me find a tool that they had and I was ready to purchase they suggested I go rent it elsewhere because thats what would be best for me...foregoing the guaranteed sale and time spent. They then ask if there was anything else I needed help with and to come back when I hit the next stage of my project because they foresaw a thing or two they could help me with. They meant it, too. Every word. This IS customer service and wish I could experience this kind of honesty and commitment in every buying experience.....or at least one other experience.

This a a great neighborhood hardware store. They have great selection of specialty hardware items. They also are extremely helpful in not just guiding you to the right items but also in helping you problem solve with special parts, fasteners etc. This is my go to place if if I need anything remotely other than the ordinary (but they have that too!). Im so glad they exist, these types of places are increasingly rare!

Ive visited the Ludlow Ace store many times over the past 15 years and have never been disappointed with service, selection or staff. You really get a feel for the pride taken in this store by its always-friendly and knowledgable employees. Ive had encounters that have lasted 10 minutes or more only to have the employee offer suggestions resulting in a decreased sale total or no sale at all. They care about their customers but wont mislead or lie to get a sale.

Ive had to stop here several times to get a screw or a bolt and the folks here have always been helpful and informative. If I need something Ive never purchased before and lack knowledge about it I will go here 9/10 times before I try Lowes or home depot.

Its a great store with everything available. Staff is great and helpful too. Its not too Fair to deduct a star so Id still say that they can do better with the tags on screws. Its too convoluted for people like me to find what I want, understand what the numbers on them mean. Would have loved simple languagewhich says this is the length this is the width. Metric and otherwise. Would have made my life easier I felt. But its a small thing and staff is helpful so its fine overall.

He also gave me many tips on how to do it and gave me a small free piece to practice before I try on my own piece. This would have never happened at Home Depot or any other large corporation. He was very concern about the success of my project and was also very caring. This is why I keep coming to the store year after year.Keep up the good work Carlie. Very nice lady, but the selection in here is very limited, and there are minimal quantities on hand. The pricing was higher than the “big box” stores. Good place if you need a screw, grass seed or a screw and three washers.

The staff here is well versed in all aspects of home improvement and always willing to go above and beyond to help you find something. Huge order? No problem one of the guys will be more than happy to help you load it into your car. Cant say enough great things about this place.

ACE truly is a helpful place! As a college student, I was in need of some materials but did not have the means of cutting what I needed. Joel was great in helping me cut exactly what I needed for my project. He went above and beyond what I would have expected from any other kind of hardware store. Had I bought the raw materials and brought them back to the college campus, I would not have had the resources to do nearly as good of a job. Thanks Joel and the employees at ACE for making a great first impression. I was thoroughly impressed and think that everyone should go to this great hardware store.

Though you can get things cheaper at box stores this place is conveniently located, well organized, has most anything you need and plenty of staff to help. There mistinted paints are a good value but are up on a deck and kinda hard to view. ...should ask. They make keys there and mix custom colors. They send me saving coupons that lure me in.

Kind of a weird set-up, but every one is very nice there. The carpenter area in the back is perfect, and one of the employees who worked back there was even about to cut custom bed risers for me, until we found some on the shelf!

I go there frequently. The folks that work there appear to be experts at what they are saying and familiar with their stock. There is no need to go to Home Depot or any of the big places. They seem to have all you need right there. The only reason I am not giving this five stars is because of an annoying question when you check out. You may have an assortment of a dozen items, but the clerk always asks if you want a bag. I do not know who puts that idea in their mind that they have to continually ask if you want a bag. I suppose I could put everything in various pockets, but that would not be too convenient. It seems like an unusual question to ask and reflective of a managers attempt to save a penny or two on not giving away too many bags. Otherwise they would deserve a full five star rating.

This is a glorified Walmart hardware department. They had nothing I needed in stock in the electrical department. So if you want to hang a picture or clean a bathroom, youre good. But good luck actually trying to find something for rough in electric work.

Nice smalltown hardware feel where staff actually is knowledgeable and can usually answer questions unlike the big box stores. Only reason I do not score a 5 is because of prices. Definitely high although I realize you pay a premium for convenience and the knowledgeable staff.

Do not place an online order for Curb Side pick up with this location. On April 10th I placed an online order for 2 items via curb side pick up. I got my email stating the order had been recognized and received by the store. Knowing we’re in the middle of Covid 19 I knew it would take a few hours for it to be ready. The next morning, April 11th I’m thumbing through my email and I didn’t see a “pick up ready” email. I logged into my account and saw the order in my past records. Around lunch time I went to check my account again and the order was removed from my past history. No cancellation email. No back order email no nothing. So I logged into PayPal and Ace still took the money from my account. I did open a claim with PayPal and now I’m sitting at 3 days since I filed and they still haven’t contacted PayPal back.This company is a joke.

The folks at this Ace location are always extremely helpful. Youd be hard-pressed to make it past the entrance and the cash register without someone greeting you and asking if they can help you. This is actually really helpful since the store is fairly tightly arranged. They dont have the selection of one of the enormous home improvement stores but they have all the basics and then some. This is a true neighborhood store and Ill continue to return.

Great selection of fasteners, wall anchors, cordage, wire, chain, electrical, plumbing, paint.... without being lost in a warehouse, or walking a mile in circles to find it. Plenty of human help (great people offering help, rather than hoping you dont ask, like HDontpo). Grills for sale too. Join the rewards club for fun discounts. Free parking nextdoor lot.

A little more expensive, not much than the big box stores, BUT these folks know what they have, help you figure out what you need and talk you through issues. Well worth it.

7/5/19 morning employees were not helpful even though one came to assist me. He just said they were out of what I was looking for. I asked if maybe they had more in back, he just said no and walked away. Looking for alternative, I found what I came for originally it was just in a different size container...!

The staff are very helpful and polite, and the selection is decent, especially considering the smaller location. There is parking in the Habanero restaurants lot nearby; otherwise youre parking on the street. Its an especially convenient place if youve got a project youre working on and live in Clifton, because its location on Ludlow makes it easy to walk to.

I went to this store and spoke with a manager who claimed to be an expert. I was trying to hang a drying rack for my dishes and instead of hanging a bar he thought I should drill a hole in the metal rack instead. I had the item and insured me it would work with a specific drill bit he gave me. The drill bit did not work, so I went back to find something that worked. I tried to return my item or exchange it for something that would work, and the same guy that helped me wouldnt give me anything. He said that he remembered me, and didnt even apologize for giving me the wrong advice. This place doesnt keep up to its words. I got bad advice from an expert, and payed for it! Ace has a really bad reputation when it comes to customer service and returns.

This store is the absolute best example of what local hardware store should be, very knowledgeable professional and helpful staff that are always willing to go the extra mile to make sure the customers taking care of. Could not recommend higher, and will be going back frequently!

I usually love this Ace hardware store and totally enjoy their student discount but i recently got some paint mixed from by their color match machine and the color is so off. I also frlt like they charged me far to much for paint that is the wrong color. I wish i saved the receipt because i would return this in a heartbeat..

Awesome. This location is about as perfect of a local hardware store as you can get. I am constantly amazed at their stock and how they pack such an assortment of stuff into such a small space. I always seem to need something that I would call unusual or random, but they have never let me down. They have paints and lacquers that are normally very hard to find (but shouldnt be). If you need that one lone screw or bolt, you can find it here, in a variety of sizes and in stainless steel if you want. I went the other day looking for a rubber stopper for a strange sized hole, thinking Id have to order something from the internet. Well, they had an assortment of sizes for me to choose from. The staff usually ask multiple times if they can help me find something, and they always know right were it is. Ill be moving soon and I will truly miss this ACE. Honestly, Ive never visited a better hardware store.
