The 3 movers came same day - last minute. They were fast, efficient, and very careful in handling my items...especially my glass/fragile items. They are truly hard workers. Id definitely use them again in the far future.

Absolutely Awful!!! Moved from Gold Coast to Bucktown. Left pick up site at same time as movers. Movers arrived 60-90 minutes after I arrived at drop off. Damaged numerous items in process.While watching the movers unload I saw that one was ripping my mattress as he forced it out of the truck. I told him to stop and he ignored me. Ripped a huge gash in the top of the foam mattress. His response was Oh. I had to replace mattress for $1000+.I asked to be reimbursed for the mattress and other items and Burrows pointed to their contract that allows them to pay pennies on the dollar based on pounds. While I thought the contract was unconscionable I agreed to a reduced payment. Despite agreeing to the refund, Burrows never paid and has ignored all correspondence to date.Would absolutely not use Burrows EVER. If you do, you are taking a risk.

I’m not sure where to even start with this. They have an outbound message where they tell you to send email to an RCN email address but the speaker elides syllables together such that it is indecipherable what that email address is. (They’ve probably changed it given this review.) I had been trying to contact them for over a week but the phone is not answered. I guess whoever wrote this screens calls to see if the prospective client is nice enough for them to deal with. What would really be funny would be if lots of people started calling them up to inquire, but leaving a testy voicemail. This poor thing, I’m guessing it’s a woman because I don’t know any guys that would send texts like this. Let’s have some fun and everyone call them up leaving your best version of a rude voicemail.

I have used Burrows moving company 6 times over the past 26 years. This last time was the biggest move--from Chicago to Savannah, GA--from a 7-bedroom home to a 3 floor townhouse with lots of stairs. We had an antique Steinway grand piano for them to move as well. We had 6 of Burrows best guys (Maurice, Juan, Ken, Bernard, Jason and Jesse) and they wrapped, padded and shrink wrapped all the furniture and lifted that grand piano out of one house and up 15 brick stairs to the other. They were just terrific. Very good work ethic. The only thing that broke was something I myself wrapped and packed! I highly recommend Burrows, especially if you have heirloom antiques and/or pianos. They treated our things as if they were their own possessions.(See the video on You Tube of them lifting the piano up the stairs--total synchronicity!)

Had a move with Burrows over the holiday weekend. It was super hot and they did a phenomenal job with my HUGE move. I was a 3rd floor walk up on both my move out unit and move in. Will Alonzo Ken and Edward did such a great job and I am so pleased that I hired burrows. I had never used a moving company before. This was my first time and I was very pleased. Will use them in the future and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND

We had a modest sized move (a little more than a one bedroom), but we were on a third floor walk-up. It was 95 degrees. Will, Alonzo and Brad did a superb job, and completed the job very fast. They were all business, though fun to work with at the same time. A fair price on top of that. I would certainly use Burrows again.

Can one go beyond 5 stars? Burrows totally should get at least 10 stars. We have had them for three moves over the years, and the experience is always remarkable. They come when they say they will, and they are thoughtful and compassionate, knowing a move can be incredibly stressful. They treat our belongings with great care, move very fast and efficiently, and are lovely to be with during the move. Just amazing. Would recommend them for anyone wanting a smooth sailing move.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I am absolutely dumbfounded at the completely negligent and unprofessional behavior of this company. Six years ago I hired Burrows to move a baby grand piano into my daughters apartment.They did a fantastic job for us so I called and hired them again to move it out. I got a call two days before the move from a different person and he said I was given the wrong quote. The original quote was $580. The new person said it would be $800. I didnt get angry. All I said is that I was disappointed to get this information less than 2 days before the move because its significantly more money than what I was expecting. He got angry with me, wouldnt let me even ask anymore questions, accused me of being an angry customer and said I should get someone else to do the move. I said that wasnt an option for us. My daughter moves out to NY City tomorrow and the piano has to be out of the apartment. He finally said he would have the original gal call me back. Got a call from the gal who gave me the original quote and I asked if they would at least split the difference with me since it was their mistake. Today they never showed up to do the move. An hour after they were supposed to be there I got a text from the gal who quoted me saying her crew chief called in sick and she needed to figure something else out for us. I called dispatch and they said we were taken off the schedule. 5 hours later, I still havent received any communication from the company. So, I called the guy who told me I was given the wrong quote. As soon as he figured out it was me, he hung up on me! What kind of a company allows this kind of behavior? Really? I would love to know just what I did to offend them to the point they are willing to be so completely rude and unprofessional. Please spread the word and tell everyone you know not to use this company. This is so very sad.

I have moved 5 times in the past 15 years and this is by far the best moving service I have used! When I found out last minute I needed to put my stuff in storage, they gladly did it. I had to change my move date three times and they easily accommodated my changes. Then I was able to get the same team out to deliver my stuff from storage. Everyone was extremely professional. They made sure my floors were covered and there was no damage to walls or furniture. I highly recommend Burrows Moving & Storage.

I recently moved from my Chicago home to a suburban condo.The crew (Marcos, Alex, Samuel and Shane) was simply the best! They made the move easier with their professionalism and their senses of humor. A move is very stressful and they were terrific in minimizing mine and my friends with the way in which they handled the movement of items and their kindness to us. When we changed our minds and wanted a piece of furniture moved to another location in the condo they were very accommodating. All items were intact and the fee very affordable. I highly recommend them!

Just had a family piano moved in, and we are very happy! Movers are professional and efficient. When I had a question about the cost on the ticket, which was slightly different than what I had written down, the team leader called the office and the price was adjusted to what I had. I appreciate that I didnt have to argue. This is our third move with Burrows.

CHECK BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU WEBSITE. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! First, the movers arrived over an hr late. Called me and said were running late b/c we overslept, well be over after we eat. That was one thing. Then once they moved me in, I noticed one of my glass lamp shades was missing. I asked them where it was. The mover went downstairs, brought nothing back and just told me it broke. However, he said dont worry it will be replaced just call Monday. Didnt seem worried about it. Then when me and my family started opening boxes we noticed that all the boxes I clearly marked as fragile had big dents in them. Thankfully nothing was broken, but Ive never seen that before in any of my moves. After I finished, I noticed 2 patio chairs and a small table were missing. I know they moved that furniture b/c that was the very last thing I told them to move.So, I call and get told someone will call me back....nothing. Then call again. They were initially apologetic for the most part and said they will take care of it. However, what struck me as odd was the disbelief that the woman conveyed about the loss of my furniture. Also, she was like O I remember you because we dont have many claims...which is questionable given some of the reviews I have read. So wait again...no response. I call, again no resolution. The lady tells me the mover left my furniture in the kitchen, which is ridiculous. I live in a small apartment, I would have noticed my furniture by now. More time passes. The best they offer me is 60 cents/ Ib of the broken item, which they didnt return. So, basically they want to give me $2.... and again they say well I just dont know how your furniture went missing... like it was my fault! No acknowledgement for the poor service they provided. I then told them their movers said the item would be replaced. They responded they dont have the authority to do that and will take it out of their pay....and Im still waiting for a letter/ check etc....I have moved quite a bit over the years for school/work and this has been the worst experience I have had.

Everyone is experienced and by far one of the more inexpensive movers in the city of Chicago. They moved our family of 3 within 3 hrs from one 2-bedroom apartment to another. Very efficient!

I had packing and moving done with burrows and I absolutely loved it! Movers were awesome and they handled my things with care. Packing was organized and each box was labeled. Finally I had a easy and pleasant moving experience thanks to Burrows Moving Company.

THIS PLACE IS A TOTAL NIGHTMARE!!!!!! DO NOT USE THEM!!! We did a move with them, paid thousands of dollars to have them store our things, much of which never made it back to our house. They damaged our house, broke items, and took absolutely no responsibility. Their men ate food from my house without asking. Totally unprofessional. They took absolutely no measures to prevent damage to our home, damaging numerous walls and stairways inside our home. When I asked the men how to make a claim for the damage, their response was theyll never reimburse you for that. They broke a very expensive floor mirror, documented it and now they are saying we dont have a picture of it though. None of the hardware to any of our lamps made it to our house, and we are missing chairs, mirrors and more. When you try to file a claim, they patronize you and make you feel as if it is your responsibility. I reported them to Chicagos Better Business Bureau.

This was my first time using a moving company and I could not have been more pleased. The group showed up and completed my move in under the estimated time. I recently moved to Chicago from Philadelphia for a new job. I obtained quotes from several moving companies, including Burrows, but chose to use Burrows and scheduled a move for 3 PM on Sunday, May 24, 2015. I talked to a gentleman who said I was confirmed for that date and time and I wrote the date and time on my work calendar. On May 24, Burrows failed to show up, and at 4 PM, I called the moving company. Steve (dispatcher, I do not remember if this is his correct name) answered the phone and said that my name was not on his schedule. After looking into the situation, he promised that he had availability the next morning at 9 AM to remedy the situation. I accepted, and drove to suburban Chicago where I was staying with a family friend.The next morning I called Steve back at 8 AM and he confirmed that two movers were on their way to my apartment at 9 AM to do the job. At 9:15, there wasnt anyone there, and finally, at 9:30, I called Steve back. He said they were likely stuck in traffic, so I gave it a few more minutes. Finally, at 10 AM, I called Steve again and it went directly to voicemail. I called the main number, which was picked up by Tim who was courteous but transferred me to Steve again, and it went straight to Steves voicemail. Then for the next 1.5 hours, ever 15 minutes I called Steve and the main number hoping someone would pick up, but every time it went directly to Steves voicemails. At 11 AM I scrambled to find another moving company and they showed up an hour later.Burrows never showed up for the job. This shows that Burrows Moving deliberately cancelled my job or did not schedule it properly TWICE and chose to ignore me instead of admit their mistake when the customer confronted them about it. They have refused to take any of my calls and I cannot even ask them what happened. I can forgive the first time they failed to show because it was likely a mistake and it was easily reschedule, but the second time, failing to show at the time promised and ignoring the customer, is not. This is not an acceptable business practice, especially for a customer who is depending on a companys service to be reliable having moved halfway across the country with the next day being a work day and a rented truck costing more than $100 a day.

This is my first time using Burrows moving company and I have to say, was the best moving experience I have ever had. I called in to get some information on prices and storage prices and the gentleman I spoke with was knowledgeable and super nice. His quote for my move seemed a little high but I figured that Im using a reputable company that has been around for quite some time....so I went with it. My bill at the end of my move was lower than what I was quoted. The men on the job were incredible. Every piece of furniture was wrapped completely and they moved super quick and carefully. Unfortunetly my king size bed would not fit into my new place with a few other pieces of furniture (downsized) so I chose to use there storage facility until I can figure out what Ill do with it. Super clean, organized.....wow stress free. Finally a move where I can say I was able to just let the movers do there job without any worry. From the initial phone call, to the movers, to the building office staff, I am beyond happy. Burrows is now my go to moving company. I will definetly be recommending them to everyone that I know. I used Burrows several years ago when I moved from Chicago to Florida. It was a simple move because most everything was going into storage at Public Storage in Chicago and all my stuff was packed in boxes and ready to go. I had specifically told the movers not to move some particular items because they were going with me. I even placed them in a certain spot in the corner of my dining room and they were marked.Sometime near the end of the move I noticed these boxes were gone. I mentioned it to the movers and they apologized and said they mustve placed them in the truck already. I said they were marked not to be moved. While moving the items from the truck to the storage unit I never located the boxes. The boxes were gone. I had all my bronze figurines in those boxes at a value of over $12,000. I had porcelain figurines of over $10,000 in value. I had cut crystal stemware of over $4500. in value and cobalt blue glassware of over $1100. in value. $27600. in missing property! The movers claimed they knew nothing about the items. Burrows claimed they knew nothing about my missing (stolen) items and could do nothing about it!I would NOT recommend Burrows for a move. They lost my valuable collectibles in a move from LSD and Roscoe to Broadway and Addison, about 1 mile!!!

Full disclosure...Ive never hired them. But I know Walter Burrows very well, and can say that hes a very honest and trustworthy person. Ive referred them to family and friends many times and will use them when the time comes for us to move in the distant future.

The worst experience of my life. I hired Burrows based on a recommendation from a friend and lets just put it this way. My friend wont be using them anymore. I called to get a price on my move. We had already moved out of our home. All of our contents were packed and in a 2 car garage less than 2 miles from our new home. They told me that it would be $111 an hour and that if it took more than 3-4 hours for the whole move, than they were doing something wrong. Well they were doing something wrong, because it took just over 9 HOURS!! They show up the morning of the move with a fairly small truck and only 2 guys. I asked how they planned on getting this all in that truck, they told me that I was lucky they came at all because they had no drivers and that he wasnt even supposed to drive the truck. Great way to start the day. I baby sat the first load, because there was no way this was going to get done in one truck. The first load seemed to go fairly well. I stayed at the new home while they went back for the second load. This is where it all went down hill. They must of stuffed the truck because they didnt want to make a third trip. They destroyed a bedroom set, broke a plasma TV, broke glass on one of a kind autographed memorabilia that tore right through it, and damaged our BBG Grill. To make it worse, they left stuff at the garage and didnt bring everything. I went over all the damage with the movers and made them put it in writing. Didnt help me. On top of everything they tried to hit me with a 3% credit card fee. I had to fight that. I tried calling the office several times during the week about the damage to our belongings and all I did was get a run around. I am a small Business owner here in the North Shore and I feel that I need to tell as many as I can about this company. They caused thousands in damage, charged a 3 times more than quoted, and have no remorse. Please be careful and stay away.

I had a horrible experince with my move. They overcharge and move slowly when pricing is by the hour.After what I thought was a positive conversation with management. They admitted problems and offered a small refund. Emailed me they processed the refund, which never was done. Then emailed me again to tell me the credit card processor was down that they would process later and to date, 2 weeks later they never processes the small refund.What can I say, dont do business with this moving company they do not provide a level of customer service or honesty expected!

HORRIABLE service. A three hr job turned into 10 hours. Gus (the mover) cursed at me. Called me all kinds of names. Drove off with my belongings. Police had to be called. They wanted full payment in the middle of the job. How can you expect full payment when your not done and you charge hourly. And the office manager has no sense himself. Lets his employees talk to paying cash customers so rudely. How do you even schedule a 2 man job for a bedroom apt. These movers walk so slow just to get your money.HOPE EVERYONE SEES THIS REVIEW!!!We got the complaint # & will be taking them to small claims court!!!!Just plain stupidity.

I recently moved from Uptown Chicago to Rogers Park, Chicago. I have a lot of furniture that I acquired from my living abroad (overseas), so I went ahead and purchased additional insurance. One of the chests was broken, the lid was completely torn off. I moved end of July 2015, and one month later still had not gotten resolution. The company opted to try and fix the chest, but the repair company could not give me a fix date for two weeks. Called burrows back and they opted to replace the chest. They went out of their way to get resolution. The movers came at the expected time and did a great job as well!

I called these guys last minute as my other movers never showed up they came very professional got me out just in time so my landlord wont charge me $150 😬 a day for going over my lease. Burrows is very professional great company they even held my items overnight for a small fee Highly recommended !!!!

I had a VERY heavy and VERY large and VERY delicate piece to move into a VERY tight basement space. Burrows people worked like a well-oiled machine to do the move -and at a reasonable price.

Would not recommend one bit. They moved my stuff but broke two things without fixing anything. They broke my toaster oven and even wrote down they broke my toaster oven. Then they broke my brand new 60 inch tv. I put the tv on after they moved me and it was cracked on the top. When I asked hem to help me cover the cost they offered 75 dollars then told the credit card company they offered 125. They will lie to not pay you for damages. This was a recommendation from my sister because it is her friends company but wow I would never use them. Very unprofessional and don’t care about your belongings one bit. Never use this company and if you do I suggest you watch them like hawks to make sure they don’t break anything. Terrible company! If they would at least offer to pay for my tv I would of given them a 5 because of how fast they moved my place but b cause of this incident it’s a 1 and I wish I could give them a 0. Awful company

It took them 7hrs to move a 1-bedroom and a studio. They wrapped the furniture well and were professional but they were too slow. There were 3 guys but most of the time only one person was working. To top it off their truck broke down in front of the building and the crew decided to abandon the truck after 2 hrs. The truck blocked the driveway to the building so nobody could leave or enter. I called dispatch and was told numerous times that a tow truck was on its way. Over 4 hrs later the tow truck finally came. This move has been an absolute nightmare and now were off to a horrible start with our neighbors.

If I could give them zero stars I would. Sad and sketchy service.
