This is a must visit spot for anyone wanting to support a great local business. Julie is so friendly and makes picking out a gift for a loved one so easy. I stopped there for my mother-in-laws birthday and felt I couldnt go wrong picking out a gift from the beautiful assortment of artisan made items, hilarious socks, and curated stationery collection.

Was walking by and just stopped by to look around, unfortunately they did not have what I was looking for but found a lot of nice things to consider for gifts. As we came in we were welcomed by a gentleman at the register and at the far end a lady offered champagne, we were drinking coffee already so not this time. No pressure to buy anything and helpful when I asked what we were looking for. will come back.

Very nice staff, very cool business

My search for a last minute birthday gift for my wife took me to this store this afternoon. Shopping for jewelry is something that normally makes me a little uneasy. Im pretty good at picking out gifts, but I hate shopping. But the couple who owns the store were really laid back, helpful, and made me feel really comfortable - there was no pressure at all. Im no jewelry expert, but to my untrained eye, the jewelry here is artistic, but also tasteful, attractive and reasonably priced. I ended up picking out a really cool bracelet made by a San Francisco artist. These guys also take gift wrapping really seriously - I was told that they received an award for it, and I can definitely believe it. This will be my go to store for gifts in the future. Highly recommended!

Ive always been a casual customer at Virtu, but the most recent visit convinced me to share my (likely not-so-unexpected) experience with the Google world. I never buy cards in advance, so about 10 minutes before Im supposed to be at a bridal shower, I came whizzing through the front door - on a mission to find the perfect card. Julie handpicked ~6 options for me to choose from, all while prepping a station for me to write in the card. She even took a little note I planned to insert and cut it down to size to fit within my chosen card! All the finer details which both put me at ease and saved me a bunch of time. I couldnt recommend this store any more. The witty, humor-filled gifts are a cherry on top of the amazing service.

#30daychallenge Full disclosure: virtu is my business neighbor in and I have known the owner, Julie, since the day I decided to also sound my barbaric yawp in North Bucktown. This only serves to underscore how impressed and pleased I am to be associated, even geographically, with virtu, as it is a true exemplar of thriving independent retail in Chicago. Julies careful and tasteful curation of gifts, decor, jewelry, accessories, and paper goods is nothing short of superlative, and she packs a ton of unique merchandise in a small and chic space. Every time I go in there I am ensconced in an eclectic world of lovely gems, whimsical objects, and adorable stationary that makes me yearn for the polite yesteryears of letter writing. Julie approaches customer service with a warmth and pleasure that is refreshing in this time of halfassed clerkdom, and her impeccable eye will ensure you always give the best gifts...and maybe even nab one (or eight) for yourself.
