Staff was ok, pretty decent portions, the food was ok. Not 5 Stars, but not bad either. It was good. Its your typical diner
Loved it. The staff is great and helpful in making my breakfast choices. They are also very courteous and friendly. Food is great and I dont even live in the area, but I go every chance I get 😋
Ordered breakfast and was excited as I havent had Bridgeport in some time, well may have been a blessing! Hash browns were to be OBrien, I got chunks of deep fried whole potatoes.Toast was butter less, eggs were brown as if fried too long, couldnt find any cheese and the omelette itself was tasteless, mind you it had bacon, mushroom AND extra cheese. Never tasted the bacon, at all??? Bridgeport Restaurant has gone down hill, never again. How can Georges keep pumping out quality food while this used to be institution has bitten the dust. Sad.
They made my carry out order incorrectly and then when I wanted the order remade the owner told me I would have to pay extra and when I attempted to show her what the order was missing she didn’t care. I stated I wanted a refund and she told me I wasn’t getting one. When I demanded the refund she told her cashier to give it to me and told me to get out. Very poor customer service and I will never return!!!
Had the chiliquilies and they were great. Cute place.
This neighborhood breakfast joint seemed like the ideal place for a Sunday brunch. It started out perfect, prompt seating, quick ordering and refills on coffee. However that impression was flat out wrong. After several other tables were sat and were able to order, eat their meals and get their checks - an hour and a half had elapsed and we were not once updated on the status of our meal, or offered any sort of apology or even acknowledgement that maybe a ball was dropped.Rarely if ever have I walked out of a restaurant. This was one of the few times that happened. I wanted so much to like this place and to enjoy a simple tall stack of pancakes after a long weekend. But, it seems like that just wasnt possible. My partner and I (obviously) will not be back, and I suggest you dont head there either.
Went here for breakfast with my family and our server was very attentive. I ordered the pork chop breakfast, after eating part of the meat I realized it was very undercooked. I asked the waitress if she could take back the pork chop and give me another that was cooked properly and I would take it to go. Then I ordered another pork chop breakfast to go for my husband. Paid for our food and left, got home to get chopped steak instead which was terrible. Called the restaurant to be told why did I call so late, breakfast was Sunday and I called Monday. I replied that I live in Indiana and it was too far to go back with my receipt, then was told that they didn’t need my business and hung up on me. All in all, the food wasn’t that good.
The waitress was AMAZING. Honestly the best wait staff Ive ever encountered. The waitress was so helpful and polite. The person who clears the tables does it very quickly and is so kind.Tried the full order of biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and it was ON POINT. Personally sometimes picky with the gravy and this restaurant actually allowed me to see and taste a sample before I ordered. (Never! And I mean never!! Has that happened before, super impressed.) My husbands grandma used to love this place way back in the day and I can see why! Will definitely be back. Super clean, quick and friendly service.
Wonderful, great and enjoyable food, I must say they scrambled the eggs the way I REALLY like them with bacon 🥓 and the OBRIEN style potatoes, excellent way that made my WHOLE day👍
This place is terrible. How does it have average 4 stars?!?! Garbage. There is absolutely Zero substitution; I asked for no gravy and cheese instead. I can do no gravy, but Ill have to charge you for the cheese..Booths are extremely uncomfortable. So close to the table you can barely breathe, man! There are way better places in the city for breakfast than this.
Overall meh.they have a blue lives flag hanging in the dining area and one of the tables is right next to the bus station.
This place has survived the shutdown for a reason. Food has been consistently since the first time I went years ago. Hidden Gem in Bridgeport.
Great food, friendly service. Classic diner experience and the crunchy French toast is 🔥🔥🔥
Great food in my favorite neighberhood in Chicago, what else could we ask for?
The only breakfast place I go to...food is always fresh and the staff is nice but I do miss the old waitresses 😔
Good size servings accurate with the coffees regular and decaf. Great service
Was in town for Riotfest, or air b&b was in the neighborhood. Was so good we went back for days in a row!!!
I am definitely coming back to this place the food is delicious kind of pricey though
Great selection for breakfast and great staff!! good food.
Excellent place to have breakfast or lunch. Friendly smiling staff, clean place, nice ambience and delicious food with reasonable prices. Low wait time. We ordered a Patty melt sandwich and a grilled chicken panini sandwich with chicken noodle and cream of vegetable soup with fries. They gave a bread roll complimentary which was soft and just simply delicious. This is was our first time eating here and definitely we are visiting it again quite soon. They do take out orders through grub hub . I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a breakfast lunch place in an around Bridgeport area.
This is the worst place ever The service is terrible the management is rude. The food is horrible my waffles were cooked to hard. I will NEVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN.
The restaurant owner and manager are rude, inconsiderate and overcharge customers.I ordered a vegetarian sandwich- which means I don’t eat meat products- the subtitle had mushrooms, onions and green peppers. Must educated people would know eggs - is a source of meat protein. When the food came out - I realized it had eggs. I didn’t touch the food - and asked if they can remake it with no eggs. The waitress - instantly said this is not my fault- and let me see if they can make another one .??????? Huh?????The manager approached the table and said- we are going to charge you full price and can make a new one for half the cost. I said - but the menu obviously says vegetarian- and the manager replied - no all the sandwiches comes with eggs and it’s your fault. We asked the manager if we could speak with the owner - she stated they were not onsite- but the waitress came after with the new sandwich and said she spoke with the owner and tried to work on our behalf. Someone was obviously lying. Either or- this was a terrible experience.I wasn’t to upset with the waitress because it seems like that work environment is pretty hostile- and the times she kept saying it wasn’t my fault- I assumed she was trying to cover herself over a simple error. But it wasn’t my fault either - vegetarian don’t eat eggs- so I assumed she- the owner - manager would understand. Maybe this is a educational moment for all.
Good food but a little pricey
Very poor service, loud music and badly prepared food. Stay away.
Love the place. Quick service excellent food. Highly recommended. Old neighborhood feel to the place.
Warm atmosphere, friendly staff. Lots of locals, 1st responders, families, etc...
Had breakfast there today, the portions were so big I didnt eat lunch at all. I would definitely recommend this place.
Great local eatery look at sign must be 40$ or 50s super service good food
Go here frequently with my daughter. Its our go to place. I enjoy their breakfast sandwiches.
Been coming here with my family for years ❤ the food is off the chain the customer service is great 👍 👌 I be back
Water and coffee as soon as we sat down. Large and tasty portions.
Ordered my food for pick up, after paying for my order i watched them pour my juice from a can into my cup &’ then turned her back and left the cup on the counter & walked away without handing me my juice knowing i was waiting for it . Another woman walked up and asked if i needed anything as i waited for them to personally hand me the paid for juice . Staff was super rude .& the food was not cooked to my asking or preference . i asked for my eggs over easy .& they were basically cooked all the way through w no yolk when cut open . Prices are way too high for the quality and service that is offered . If you do not like dealing with people, or can not offer kindness you should not be in the food service industry. This was my first and last time i will ever spend money at this establishment, my advice go to GEORGE’s or the mexican restaurant around the corner .
The waitresses are terrible. I had to ask waitresses numerously to give me the desert menu to order a special they posted on the door. They walked away and ignored me. Finally one of them brought me the regular menu where there are no specials. I had to walk to their kitchen area, clarify specials and make my order.I walked here in a good mood and left in totally spoiled mood.
Always good food. Friendly prompt service.
Great food n service
Cozy little spot and the breakfast is always delicious and filling, the waitresses are friendly and I dont think Ive ever gotten the wrong order here.
Solid breakfast at a reasonable price.
Good family styled restaurant. Nice pricing for the portions and food is generally on spot. Id prefer fresh veggies over canned (mushrooms??) but its still a good place to eat.
The hostess and waitresses here are so sweet. Quick dining. Fast service
This is a diner, so its just a straightforward experience. Im still trying to figure out why there arent many businesses or interesting restaurants around 35th and Halsted because it seems like a major intersection. If youre in the area, this is an okay place to go, and the service is good, actually. Its a neighborhood place thats been around for a while.
Great food and service
The food was well worth price paid!!
This place was one of my favorites spots for breakfast, but today was absolutely bad my daughter and I decided to take my grankids out for breakfast, we got their no waiting and the place was pretty much empty we got seated right away, we ordered pancakes and waffles we get the bill 120.00 with a 17 dollar seating fee unreal!! Which was not mentioned to us! 4 kids and 2 adults! I was shocked! Mind you not even in a 5 star Restaurant charges you that, never again will I return.
Delicious Bananas Fosters 🥞
Very friendly atmosphere, clean, Loved the breakfast specials and the coffee refills kept on coming.
Very good and friendly service
Breakfast was okay but too pricey for just half order French toast almost 20 bucks.
Yummy diner food. I had a Greek omelet with OBrien potatoes and pancakes. I was looking for sliced gyros meat but it was chunks. The feta was good and soft. I ended up with hasbrowns - disappointing. I like my potatoes with pizzazz. Lol 😆 My mom had a tuna melt that she seemed to like. It came with crinkle fries and a cup of soup (the soup of the day). I would give i another try.
I love a good diner breakfast, and Bridgeport Restaurant provides just that. Prices are fair and portions are generous. Service is always friendly and accommodating. Its also a favorite of my 4 year old, who enjoys drawing on the paper placemats and chatting up the servers as well as practically inhaling the scrambled eggs, pancakes and sausage from the kids menu. Glad they have reopened for takeout and look forward to supporting them again in person in the future.
Great lil local.
Great food very clean Ill be back soon
Great food and fast service just a nice little place for coffee or lunch. Enjoyed myself very much there .
Good service and quality food.
Dining here was an extremely pleasant experience. I got an omelette, potatoes, and pancakes (and coffee). The food tasted pretty darn good for diner food, THE PORTION SIZES WERE AMPLE (a huge factor for me), and the service was fantastic. You know how sometimes you go out to eat and you get the sense that the service staff is miserable and hates that they have to engage with you? Yeah, I didnt get that sense here. Everyone was super friendly, to each other and to me. I also really appreciated that the staff members let me sit and read/watch the football game after I payed my bill (the place wasnt packed but it was busy when I was there). As a visitor to the Bridgeport neighborhood, my experience at this establishment made me feel very welcomed. 5/5, easy.
Excellent food! Friendly staff.
I love the people that work there and the food
Should have gotten the other special for what I paid ☺️
We have breakfast and it was excellent, specially the steak omlet
Good eating place 😌👌😋👏
Came here on a Saturday. The service was very helpful and welcoming. Prices are appropriate.
We met with friends at this spot for lunch. This place was recommended to us by a friend. Well, it was very successful. we were warmly welcomed by the staff and we felt fantastic. The meal was great. We enjoyed every moment and we will definitely return to this restaurant. We recommend this place to all.
The waffles, pancakes, French toast, ham of the bone, and hash browns are delicious. The only thing that had no flavor were the Strawberry crepes .
Good food and great service
Great service, and the food, its delicious!
Classic diner in all the best senses of the word. Endless coffee, big menu, vinyl overstuffed booth benches, cozy environs, generous portions of goofy local wall stuff--send me back any time. Did I mention that the food is pretty good? The folks are friendly, too.
The food is okay. The location is very good. The tables are a bit small. I wouldnt come here with a group larger than for adults, or three of youve got broad shoulders. The service is always prompt and prepared. I would eat here again if convenient. Go ahead, enjoy.
Love the portions of food & daily breakfast deal. Great servers! NO FREE parking CHICAGO PAY BOXES are visible. Tables/booths r very close to each other. Enjoy
Staff was great! Great service! Been coming here since I was a kid. Great environment except the booths are too small. Should maybe consider expanding into the empty storefront next door. Food is way over priced and its just ok with small portions. Wanted to try lunch here but reconsidering it because if breakfast is expensive, I can only imagine lunch/dinner prices. Yikes!
We love this little place. Lots of charm, very likeable wait staff, good food, and a huge menu. But their soups are where its at. What does that mean, where its at? Wheres what at? How did that become a common expression? Its kind of nonsense. I guess I should have just said that while weve had good luck with just about everything weve tried on the menu, their soups are always what we end up talking about after the meal and what keeps us coming back. Especially the clam chowder. Best Ive ever had in a non-coastal city.
Great little diner. We go to lunch with our son who’s a student at IIT here often.
It was great. Great servers. Great food.
Not so good today. Ill leave it at that. They were nice.
This place is not what it used to be... I am still shocked with their new food prices... $3.95 for small apple juice, $3.25 for small milk, AND THE BEST ONE, $10.40 for one freaking pancake with chocolate chips!!!! No thank you!
Great service Great food. Coffee was decent and pancakes where just ok. Paid parking unless Sunday. I would highly recommend!
The restaurant is a staple if you grew up in Bridgeport. The staff are super friendly and the service is quick. Its your basic diner food, good but sorry to say, nothing to write home about. All in all a good place for a quick bite.
Food was ok (average, but will give a lot of strawberries for strawberry pancakes!), and the service was very nice
This is a neighborhood place that has a really good menu. Fast service and friendly staff. Priced fairly and a good portion served. If you are in the neighborhood I think you would enjoy this place.
Bridgeport Diner used to be my go to place for a late breakfast. I hadnt gone in a long time so decided to give it a try.To say the least, I was disappointed. The food was just okay and some components were dull/bland.The worst part of the experience was their need to rush us through our meal because their hours had changed. I wasnt aware of their recent time change but thought 45min was more than enough time. There was a lady prepping for closing by cleaning and mopping, which is fine but she kept going under our table asking us to lift our feet to get under...The waitress more or less told the table next to ours to hurry and eat.Waitress: just so you know our hours have changedCustomer: is that a hurry up and eat comment?w: no... but kind ofOn the bright side... them telling us to hurry up did help me get home before the rain started! Thanks for keeping me dry!
Good food,great service
Really good food and very good prices. I love going there.
Amazing breakfast here loved it will come again..
I was inspired to visit this restaurant after listening to friends of Commander Bauer shared this was his favorite place to dine. I was also impressed. The service is outstanding. The restaurant is very clean.bright and cheerful. The food is exceptional. I enjoyed the fresh ice tea in an atmosphere of family and spiritual love. Make the trip.
They have good service. I love their omelettes.. Its a little hard to find parking.
Such a great breakfast option. Busy but we were seated immediately. Flip the mug over and theyll fill it with coffee. The menu has all the standards plus just enough character to make it its own place. Everything was awesome. I loved the roasted jalapeños.
Probably one of the best restaurants in Bridgeport. Really fast service, especially tasty, and cheap too. I would recommend the 4 2s, which is 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 sausage links, and 2 pieces of bacon.
Not really a hidden gem (its not hiding)But its definitely a gem. Amazing selection. Cant actually believe how they have that many menu selections within the confines.Quick service. Open early. Makes really good biscuits and gravy. 🔥
Decent food at decent a price
