Loved it! They have so many comic books. Ill be back. The lady doing the free comic book day table was friendly and that always makes the experience a good one!!! I will make sure to go back again and see how they are on regular business days.

A large selection and great service

Excellent but a very good store Alternate Reality has a huge selection of comics and neat memorabilia,also Alternate Reality has a remarkable selection of back issues and trades paperbacks,also Tim is also not only awesome but also remarkable.also Tim is also one. Of the warmest and kindest business owners in the country of Illinois and. Mount Greenwood is blessed to have him.also Alternate Reality is is still one of the one of the best comic shops on the south and possibly the whole city of Chicago Illinois. Even though Im focusing on building the. New. Bookcases, also I,m still very paitent, either this week or next week Im still looking forward. Excellent store! Huge selection of comics and neat memorabilia including posters and unique figures. Smaller selection of popular board games in the back. Owner is incredibly friendly and offers excellent recommendations on comics. The store has a strong neighborhood feel and is the most welcoming comic book store I have ever been in.

This is the only comic shop Ill be going to. Filled to the brim with any comic you can think of. The, what I believe to be, owner was friendly and funny. Personally need to visit more.

Great shop jampacked floor to ceiling with geeky awesomeness, including the 2 over-the-top Edgar R. Burroughs mash-ups in the included pics!Counter staff was friendly and helpful and I picked up a Marvel Essentials X-Men volume Id been on the lookout for.

I love this place, at one point they were displaying Son of Svengoolies coffin in the front window. The store manager is cool, with q&a, old school comics and current, horror mags, G-Fan magazines, posters, action figures, etc....!!!

Lots of stuff here but the owner isn’t a nice dude. Tries to hide his attitude behind a fake smile and doesn’t treat the casual shopper with respect. My suggestion, if your looking for a good local comic shop, try Oak Lawn comics or Comic Asylum, or take the drive up to Tinley Park. Good guys behind those counters. This guy doesn’t want business from anyone outside of his community. It unfortunate but it’s true.

The owners incredibly condescending and talks down to people, like a clown making fun of a child for wanting a thing. Will never shop here again.

Place is a little sloppy as in store layout, and comic books were falling on my head, but after digging around I found everything I was looking for. So if you like your comic book searching to be like an Indiana Jones adventure, this is the place.

My absolute favorite store of all time! Friendly people, great prices and welcoming to kids (thats a huge problem a lot of other places). If I had an unlimited amount of money Id spend it here or invest it here.

Ive known the owner since I was kid. Hes the best. I used to ride my bike to his comic shop. Hes one of the warmest and kindest business owners in the country. Mount Greenwood is blessed to have him.

There are any number of shops I could go to just to pick up each weeks new comics, but AR offers so much more. I particularly love the fact that I can often find trades there that no other local store stocks. Its a lucky thing for me the shop is located just a hop, skip and a jump from my home, because Id make the drive there even if it were located on the other side of Chicago.

Theyre good people with a large array of merchandise.

Have been stoping in every now in then for over 20yrs. I used to buy all my magic cards since revised edition from here. When my son turned 3, brought him here so he can check it out and saw a Batman coin bank he wanted. Everything and anything comics/gaming related can be found here. A piece of Southside history, just like friar tucks.

Best store on the south side, north side,west side,east side, upside your head. Owner is a really nice Mick Foley type. Has a lot of knowledge about all his product. He has the best sales of all the stores in or around Chicago. Also has the best most informative websites of any comic book store. If you live anywhere in or around Chicago, this store should be your store and is worth the drive!

Older gentlemen was etremely rude! No type of customer service at all!!!! No consideration for young children witnessing how rude he is. Fire him immediately!

Wonderful place.. better than Disneyland.. has absolutely everything in comic books and heroism... why I once saw Superman there...said he picked up something for Bruce.. now he was shopping for Dick. The owner a lovely man with a heart of gold. I once told him I didnt have enough to pay for my books ..he told me he would hold them until I did have enough. Great store been open for years... before him I had to go downtown and buy my books on a corner from a guy who had a dog that wore sunglasses. Books, posters, action figures ...if you want it hes got plenty, if he aint got it thats cause there aint any. I would give him six stars but the bastard doesnt deliver.

Im from out of town, came to most of the Local Game Stores to search fir a handful of cards. These guys were very helpful.

Owner is a decent man, has lots of variety in comics, wish he has more manga options though, mainly play magic the gathering with a bunch of cool guys there to make the vibe in there much better!

The business is cozy inside crammed wall-to-wall with comic books, posters and other fan paraphernalia. The staff are great people that know the nerd culture well. The only reason Ive left off a star is because theyre in a technological dark age with the credit machine and computer being down at least two of my visits and lack of a modern website.

They have a great selection of comics and stuff. But the older gentleman is very rude and disrespectful to the customer. He has no customer service.

This store is what a comic book store should be. Its very laid back, great stock on everything from comics to collectables, seems to have some sale going on every time I go there and Tim knows comics. Also host a great group of people that play Magic the Gathering in the back of the store on Friday nights and Saturday afternoon. If your looking for that Mom and Pop ran store feel this is your place.

I just started getting back into comics so i decided to check out a few stores in the area. This is by far the best. When i first saw on their website that they offer 15%off new comics, i figured it was a gimmick and there would be a million restrictions. But its true. 15% off!!! They have my business for the foreseeable future. Or until dc sucks again.

Lots of variety in comic books. Guy behind the counter promoted their hosted Magic games heavily (I was in for cards), but they dont buy/sell individual cards. They had an old timey radio show and a movie on at the same time, which was distracting, but in the over an hour I spent in there, every time time I went down an aisle again, I kept discovering new things. Crowded, confusing layout, but isnt that part of the fun?

Came in with a friend, waited for whom I assume to be the owner to get off the phone with tech before I tried to purchase my magic cards. I said I wanted a booster pack and he asked which kind, I said I didnt know and he plopped down a small pack, told him I was looking for the bigger whole decks and I guess that since I was playing cards as a kid they have been called starter packs. Overlooked this, he asked my friend if she had wanted to buy some too and she said no and he tried to tell her if she wanted to play with me she would need some. To this comment I jokingly replied I was going to play with myself. He said he didnt think that I could play like solitaire, to which I as sweetly as possible replied that I had friends who played that I planned on playing with. I purchased my cards and left. Any woman looking to buy comics/manga/cards/games should take their business elsewhere to where we are taken seriously. Sorry, not sorry, this place is nice and has alot of great things but I cant say Id ever spend money here again.

Place has a good amount of comics and manga, but I still couldnt get decent service god its horrible.....Im just a guy trying to find a more interesting manga or comic, dont have to judge me to my face....
