Do not recommend using this company if you expect any type of customer service - or even basic communication. I was looking to get 1/2 cord wood delivered by a certain date so called to confirm that would be possible before I placed an order. The person I spoke with said “no problem - go ahead and place the order online and we’ll be in touch to schedule a delivery time for that date.” So I did, and expected them to contact me within 24-48 hours or so since the delivery date was supposed to be in 5 days. No one reached out to me over the course of those 5 days despite me calling them multiple times, leaving messages, and sending an email. I finally decided to just pick up the wood myself so I visited the address they have published online and it was basically an empty parking lot. The gate was chained up (on Saturday afternoon when they were supposed to be open) and there wasn’t a soul in sight. It looked like they had some scraggly wood tucked in the corner but it certainly wasn’t a wood lot. Even if it was open I’m not sure they would have been able the fulfill my order. After that I called and left another couple messages to request a refund and, surprise surprise, they never responded. I had to contest the charge with my bank to get my $ back.I can understand if they’re backed up with orders, but they shouldn’t have committed to delivering by a certain date if they couldn’t follow through. And the lack of any sort of communication/customer service is completely inexcusable. I’m still not convinced this is a legitimate business. I had a terrible experience with this company and definitely do not recommend ordering from them.
Great family business working hard to meet crazy demand right now as were heading into a pandemic winter. Like many of you I had some uncertainty because it had been a day or two after placing an online order and I hadnt heard back, but I gave them a call and decided to just head over and load up the car rather than waiting on a really backed up delivery schedule. If youre having trouble, just go there and figure it out or give them a call. You can fit a lot of wood in a small car, turns out!
I just got delivered wood from this place today. It was the first time I am getting wood in any type of bulk at all. They delivered it the day they were supposed to but the guy was incredibly incompetent.He was supposed to call me and give me a 3 hr window for when the delivery would be. I said perfect. Because I am not there and Ill have to give them a heads up.He called me at 9:30am saying theres no one here, where do you want me to put it down?I had no idea he was coming, my friends didnt know, so he put it on the grass, not the concrete, and it was raining. Horrible place. Never ordering from here again.
Easy, fast delivery of well seasoned firewood. Called for a 1/4 face cord and asked for delivery in the city (wicker park). They delivered it the next day for free and were here right when they said they would and gave me a call/heads up beforehand. Got mixed hardwood - all well seasoned and they stacked it neatly for us. Everything burns clean and hot. Very easy, highly recommend.

Called in and ordered from Firewood Chicago on a Saturday with a Monday delivery. Wood was delivered on time, driver was courteous, and most importantly the wood was well seasoned and kiln dried. Other providers in the city have delivered wood that was wet and covered in mushrooms and wouldnt burn.
I was skeptical of Firewood Chicago because of the one star reviews, but I just ordered a face cord of kiln dried mixed hardwood this week and I am very happy with it and with their service. The firewood supplier I had previously used just increase the price is 50% and would only supply up to a half a face cord, so I took a chance. I called earlier this week and the man who answered explained what my options were and said he could deliver it the next morning. Their price was very reasonable and included delivery. He gave me a three hour window, and although the driver arrived a little bit late he did a great job unloading and stacking. He explained how there is currently unprecedented demand for firewood, double what it normally is, because of the pandemic, so it has been hard to keep up with demand. Still, they delivered a great product for a great price.
I called and asked if I could pickup this afternoon, the nice dude met me at the 1813 W Montrose address and got me on my way quickly. Pro tip - its actually on the south side of the building in the alley so take Ravenswood South from Montrose, turn right on Berteau, and then hang a right in the first alley... just look for a parking lot with lots of wood on your right.

Yeah there are some 1 stars here, but it appears theyre swamped with new customers- that being said the owner just needs to delegate calls and emails to someone. For now, just call and inquire instead of placing an order online and waiting 2 weeks.... The wood is great, burns right away and is a fair price. Got my 2nd cord of the winter today and will order again.
Don’t order from these people after 10 days and numerous call I still have no wood. Don’t let the good price fool you. The only good thing they did was process my refund quickly.
It took a little while because the Company seems to be backed up with orders and their phone number diverts (which always is a bit concerning). But they do get back to you, are very kind and deliver. The wood looks fine. Will confirm once I try it out. There arent many places in Chicago that deliver and its great to support a local business. If this works out, will use again.
Horrible! I bought a Christmas tree with them and the tree is just awful. very ugly. expensive and very ugly product. and even when they came to deliver the first time, they brought the wrong order. I never want to buy anything from you again.
Ordered online, didn’t hear anything for a week. I called, they set up delivery time. Didn’t show. Waited a few days, didn’t call so I called them. They set another deliver day, didn’t show, despite my confirmation day of. Set up another delivery time, didn’t show, I gave up and disputed charges.
After placing an order on Nov 2nd, I have not been contacted by the company in 14 days to schedule delivery. I have sent multiple emails and left voicemails, without a response. Now have to call the credit card company for the chargeback.
Do not order from this guy. I ordered online. After a week of waiting received no call or confirmation for delivery. When I called he showed up quickly but the wood he delivered doesn’t burn at all. It’s very wet and despite being covered in our yard is not drying out at all. Literally doesn’t burn.
I put in an online order with free delivery. I didnt hear from anyone so I called and arranged for delivery. Delivery person didnt show up or call. Two more times I called to reschedule delivery and the same thing, no show, no call. Finally on try #4, the delivery person came. He helped me load the wood onto my rack and even helped secure the rack. Thats the reason for the 2nd star. As for the wood, its not very well dried Lots of pops and crackles. The convenience of free delivery isnt worth the hassles. Ill go back to picking up my wood at the other places.
These guys are fantastic!! They’ve delivered to me three times, and every time was last minute on my end. They responded to my phone call within 5 minutes when it originally went to voicemail. Trust me, they’ll call back quick if you first don’t get a hold of them. They delivered super fast (under 30 minutes the last time because I live a mile away), affordable, and even brought the wood to our back door on a dolly. Thanks to this company for their excellent customer service and quick response. I’ll be purchasing all my wood from here from now on.
When they came to deliver our 1/2 cord I thought it would be a good opportunity to get my 7 year old in on stacking some too. He was beyond delighted to receive an unexpected $5 tip! My husband and I have had nothing but great experiences with Firewood Chicago!

Ive been buying my firewood at local stores my friend firewood Chicago and it was only a mile away from my house. I got 3 times the wood I normally pay for at my local stores for the same price and the salesperson I spoke to was very helpful and knowledgeable about the best wood for my needs I would highly recommend this company
Took off of work early for a 3-5 window of delivery. Called at 4:30 and was told it would be at least another 2 hours. This isnt the first time theyve failed to show up when they said they would. Maybe they could at least call the customers and let them know they are running late so we arent waiting around all day
Just picked up a bunch of wood and some kindling. The gentlemen there helped load it into the car. The place is hard to find, its in an alley behind a fence near the CTA line. Will be going here for all firewood needs.

-1 Star: Delivery was scheduled 1-5 pm on a Friday afternoon, didnt show up until almost 7:45. Was repeatedly asked if I had the right place. Then the delivery guy tells me he doesnt even start deliveries until 5:30.-1 Star: Wood was piled, not stacked, and prone to avalanches. TONS of over-sized, wet, and gnarled pieces. I have a fireplace, not a fire pit in the back yard. Definitely not a complete face cord, especially with these massive pieces.-1 Star: 2 calls to try and get this resolved = 0 callbacks and no resolution. Got the standard disdainful reply from their receptionist both times, We havent had ANY complaints this year, but Ill speak to my boss.-1 Star: Finally got a guy on the phone Saturday morning at 10 am (Tim?), who said hed come by and swap it out. Sounded great, but now its Sunday evening and no call no show.Its too bad, because weve bought our Christmas trees and pumpkins there for a few years now.
This morning (Sunday) I call about ordering a face cord of firewood. I was told it would be delivered between 1:30 and 3:30. I placed the order.Around 4:00 I called. I hadn’t heard anything. They said they were running a little late but would make the delivery.A 6:00, having heard nothing I got in the shower, got dressed, and drove to dinner.While I was driving they called and sent a text. THEY were ready. When I got to my destination, I texted to say that I was not able to accept the delivery hours late and with no call to keep me informed.If you think that decent customer service and a bit of respect should be part of a business transaction, avoid this company. They offer neither.
Delivery options were good and on time. Unfortunately the wood was super wet and did not burn at all.
Their Customer Service was great and the delivery guy was very nice. However, I feel I was shorted when my face cord measured 4 x 6 1/2 feet as opposed to 4 x 8. Oh well, I didnt think much of it and let them know too late to have anything done about it. Overall, that wasnt such a big deal.However, I did ask the delivery person if the wood was dry as it felt very heavy to me. He said it was. Well, I could not keep a fire going with this wood (I just kept my gas starter on the whole time as it would go out if I turned it off). As luck would have it, our winter was so cold that we took a break from using the fireplace for two months. When I went back to the wood to finally have a fire a few days ago (stacked in my garage), many of the logs were moldy. This is even with a garage kept at 33 degrees in the winter and incredibly dry.Overall I was disappointed and it appears I am not the only one. However, hopefully these few bad reviews are the outliers.

Decent product and price, but just terrible service. For past 4 orders its required multiple calls and texts to get them to deliver, despite promises of tomorrow or tonight. This time, last straw, its been a week and a half and still nothing. Were done.

Regarding the post below - as we explained to the customer we were very backed up on the day of his delivery and had five orders to fill for customers who had ordered before him for earlier in the day, and we had one delivery person to carry out all of these orders. We did call and ask if it would be alright if we were a little late and he was upset. When we asked if there would be a better time he suggested the next day at 9 am. Even though we dont usually open until ten, we did arrive the next morning at eight thirty am per his request to deliver his firewood. We do go out of our way to make sure our customers are happy, and we try to accomodate everyones needs and different time schedules. I would also like to reference another review sent to us by email by another customer:This place has terrific prices and service. Kathy delivered my half cord of wood quickly and even loaded it on my back porch. (free delivery, for 5 mile radius). The wood looks good—seasoned and dry mixed cherry, oak, etc. Cant wait to try it.(Main Event: I wanted to put this endorsement online somewhere but couldnt find a place. Feel free to use it.)

Firewood Chicago was 4 1/2 hours late on their scheduled delivery (scheduled for noon, called at 3:00 to say they couldnt make it until 4:30). They were willing to reschedule for the next morning, though, which wasnt a big problem.Then they dropped off a face cord of green wood. I mean wet all the way through. Not just could have seasoned for a month or two longer - this stuff wont burn even after 15 minutes over a gas flame starter, and the ends of the logs are damp to the touch after being in the fireplace.I went with them because they were the cheapest. But if you want actual firewood, or if you want it delivered reasonably close to the time they say, you should pay a little bit more.
Great service and quick delivery but not much wood for the price. Shop around if youre not in a rush.
