The service here is top notch. I ordered chocolates for my son who lives in Chicago as I dont and had a question so called. The guy was so helpful and so nice. Then emailed to check on order and quickly got a response that was so nice and helpful. They arrived in 3 days and my son says they are AMAZING and will go back. I will order from them again. This is the best place in the city for homemade chocolates and made from scratch hot chocolate. I came here for both and introduced my mom for the first time and she loved it! I also picked up packaged items for my grandma for Mothers Day! The service was exceptional unfortunately I did not get his name.

Thick, delicious, rich delightfulness in a mug! But first of all, the space is super cool, it is small so dont like being all your friends at once, but very cozy and beautifully decorated. The sipping chocolate is so amazing! I had the brown butter old fashioned, with a vanilla and a salted caramel marshmallow (two free with 13oz drink), the flavor was exquisite. The salted caramel marshmallow started to take over a bit so I are it quickly, but with one of the regular chocolates I imagine it would be absolutely perfect. What I enjoyed most is that I was able to sit quietly in the old chairs and reflect on the day without any disruption. Perfect spot to get away and have a little comfort in a mug.

Hazelnut and caramel drinking chocolates are like drinking melted chocolate, extremely rich, but so so so tasty. Don’t overestimate your ability to drink more than a serving, you’ll make yourself sick. The truffles are also delicious, particularly the peanut butter curry (tried years ago) and the hazelnut and salted caramel flavors. I like the classic flavors more than the fruity flavors, personally.

This small cafe packs a big punch. If you love fancy hot chocolate but can’t finish a giant one on your own, Katherine Anne’s offers a smaller flight perfect for splitting. I had the turkey sandwich with cranberry chutney and it was so good. Obviously everything is fresh and the people who make it enjoy what they do. Skip the hype of Mindy’s and go to Katherine Anne’s for something a little more local feeling. Plus you can buy the hot chocolate mixes to take home or gift. I love this place.

The hot chocolate was thick, super chocolaty, rich, and mouthwatering, even though I myself found it quite overly sweet to me, especially the salted caramel hot chocolate. The decor was lovely and beautiful. The ambiance was cozy and warm. The staff was friendly, helpful, and efficient.

From the moment you walk in, the entire atmosphere of Katherine Annes Confections wraps you in a wonderful smelling hug. The layout is classy without being stuffy. The menu is diverse without being overwhelming, and the theme is french without being snobby. When you step to the counter, a friendly staff member, or maybe even the owner herself, will help you decide on a hot chocolate varying from levels of bitterness to special options like cardamom rose. Once that choice is made, you get to figure out how your dream drink will be topped and while I chose a simple whipped cream, the homemade marshmallow options enticed me so much Ill have to return and give them a chance. I dont regret my selection for a moment, though. The hot chocolate was smooth, slightly thick, creamy, frothy, and left little to no residue on the bottom of the cup. The temptation to slurp is down quickly presented itself, but with some self-control I was able to spread my enjoyment of the drink over the length of an hour and even when room temperature, I found myself relishing each drop. Do yourself a favor and visit this slightly hidden gem. You will find no regret here, simply the most pleasant drinks and atmosphere.

Awesome, awesome, awesome! We were looking for a unique gift that conveys the spirit of Chicago, and this it, no question! We bought ourselves a smaller gift box and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it! Heck, we hid the stuff from the kids, because kids would eat anything sweet and would not be able to fully appreciate the taste, the aroma... I can go on a on. Best of all, its not overly sweet! I dont know whats wrong with all the sweets in the U.S., somehow the idea behind every dessert is the more sweet it is - the better. Well, guess what, this is definitely not the case here, and kudos to you for doing the right thing!!! Were sold!

I still think about this day. I stopped in on my way running errands and the Mexican sipping chocolate was exactly what I wanted in terms of sweet and spicy. My boyfriend got the semi sweet and I honestly had a hard time choosing which was better. Will return.

Decadent hot chocolate, the richest I have had in Chicago. We got the hazelnut hot chocolate and the salted caramel hot chocolate and loved both of them. We also tried the goat cheese truffle, which we didnt even know existed, and will have to be back for more.

A cute selection of Valentine’s Day gifts and other assortments that can meet any budget. The store carries freshly made candies with unique flavors like s’mores with a hint of whiskey, but the best part is that you can see the chocolate being made (fun to take the kids to see). The staff was extremely knowledgeable, welcoming and polite. I’m not a fan of chocolate but the hazelnut hot chocolate with your choice of marshmallow on top is out of this world!!!

After receiving a gift of Katherine Ann Confections truffles, I was very curious to try it. I heard how delicious their hot chocolate is as well. No wonder they were named as one of the best 15 hot chocolates in America by Fodor travel. Hearing that they are also able to cater to special diets (e.g., vegan and food allergies) made this place a must for our next visit to Chicago.On a very snowy day in February we made the drive from Wisconsin for a special birthday celebration and finally got to visit and enjoy the worry free (more on this later) delights at Katherine Ann Confections in Logan Square. And by we, I mean, a vegan, a dairy free person and someone with nut and peanut allergies. As we walked in, the place eluded a warm casual atmosphere. Unlike some other places in Chicago, we could sit down and enjoy our hot chocolates (dont recall the place in Wicker Park, but they had no seating, just a restaurant). For those familiar with the microbrewery experience, the hot chocolate experience is similar.The staff is very friendly and they pay attention to detail and special dietary needs. And in our case the skill was critical. I dont eat dairy but am not a vegan, then we had a few vegans in the group, and one person who has a nut allergy. Only one of the five had no special diet or requests. So yes, this was a complicated order for 5 people. I placed the order and while they cannot guarantee nut free (that is reasonable, it is not a nut free facility), they do take extra care to segregate the ingredients and make a deliberate effort not to cross contaminate during preparation. So yes, its not 100% risk free, but I felt comfortable trying it because the staff was very knowledgeable. When I ordered my dairy free drinking chocolate (this is not just hot chocolate, but heaven in liquid form), they double-checked that marshmallow was ok for me. This is because marshmallows are often made with animal products. It was fine for me because Im not a vegan. They pay attention to detail and truly understand their ingredients. But the vegans in the group were ok with nuts and they had nut milk (which I avoid and we had someone with a nut allergy). A fairly complicated order and they got everything right.The order:It was delicious and served in an aesthetic way. The flight of hot chocolate/liquid chocolate drink was out of this world. I am not even a big fan of hot chocolate but do make it for special events. I make it with fine Dutch cocoa and its still nowhere near as good as what I drank Katherines. Each one with unique flavors and the marshmallows were out of this world too; they were delicious.The truffles, again like no other. I am a fan of Godiva truffles and was told, once you have truffles at Katherines you will not be so fond of Godiva. They were right. And the person with the nut allergy was also able to enjoy these truffles. A first experience for them. Most confections are at high risk of cross contamination with nuts.Also, no mess up with the order and because the server asked the right questions, no worries either that there was a high probability of an error for the allergy or special diets (vegan and dairy free).I cannot recommend Katherines Confections highly enough. To be able to cater to all these diets and allergies and yet provide the ultimate chocolate experience deserves more than 5 stars.

Love love love this place!! So worth it! Their hot chocolate is soooo rich. Sadly, we cant sit in their very small cafe during the covid pandemic - I miss the ceramic cups, the flowers on the table, and just sitting and enjoying their yummy concoctions. Theyve got recommendations for little ones as well as for more sophisticated tastes. They have 2 sizes and the small is enough for most people. I always share the regular size, Mexican hot chocolate - its a bit spicy. If you want to try a few flavors, they have a flight of 3 tiny hot chocolates. Weve also tried their marshmallows: cinnamon, salted caramel, and rose (on different occasions) and I thought they were all delicious!

I can never figure out why this place doesnt have a line snaking around the block. This is the richest hot chocolate in the city, possibly the country. Its basically pure chocolate melted in hot cream and topped with a torched house-made marshmallow. Let the marshmallow melt then suck down the gooey mallow heart in the last delicious dregs of your decadent beverage. Cold drinks have a delicious lightly salted ball of frozen whipped cream instead of a marshmallow. My favorite specials include the elusive white chocolate chai and the milk chocolate fennel orange. They often have liquor themed drinks and you can have the drink made with coffee instead of cream if you want a nice bitter contrast to cut the sweetness (and if you like being extra awake). The Mexican or the hazelnut chocolate on the regular menu are always outstanding backup drink choices if the specials dont appeal. The truffles are very good, the caramels are great, and the variety of marshmallows is a lot of fun. I also love the shabby vintage charm of the place, like the chandelier and the antique silver-plate spoons. They also have food, but I have never had the food here because we always reserve this place for dessert. After COVID is over, Im going to go get a hot chocolate flight and celebrate. Oh, and they have vegan choices! Im no vegan but vegan friends love it when I drag (ha) them here.

Drinking Chocolate?!? I didnt even realized it existed. I dont think Ive even been to a real confectionary. This was literally better than anything Ive ever expected. Gourmet marshmallows, Arnold Palmer flavored caramel, unique flavored truffles, toffee, and I think they have food food too. Honestly the kind of place I would go to every time I drove by, walked by, or thought of. Shout out to Nathan (hope I spelled that right) for explaining the full menu and everything to us, awesome personality. Check it out for sure!

I so love this place! Since I moved to the area, Katherine Anne truffles have been my go-to treat. Of course, everything is delicious and I love the ever changing seasonal drinks, but the truffles are my favorite.The staff are always so lovely, kind and hard working. With COVID taking over daily life, I feel very safe with the minimal contact and safety precautions this establishment has set up.*I just tried the seasonal peanutbutter curry truffle and it blew my socks off! Pure chocolate heaven! Katherine Anne (I’m assuming the shop is named for the proprietor; my apologies if I’m wrong on that) is true artisan. Her chocolates are delicious and she creates unique and interesting flavor profiles. Her passion for her art and love of her profession and business are apparent as she’ll happily chat up any patron and share stories about her business and her creations.

If youre looking for a authentic cup of hot chocolate, Id highly recommend visiting this place. The hot chocolate is like no other - creamy, chocolaty, hot and irresistible; not to mention, you get to choose what type of marshmallow youd like in your hot chocolate. The shop is so cozy and well decorated, one could spend hours there. The truffles are amazing and have a very unique twist of taste. My favorite is the lemon poppyseed. I cant wait to go back.

This place is an absolute delight for the senses!!! Fine chocolates, marshmallows, and treats crafted with love and there for the taking. Do yourself a favor and plan to spend a solid hour or so there. Enjoy some sort of chocolate and coffee potion, nibble on some truffles, and agonize over what youll be taking home with you. Two of everything? Great! Theyll put a bow on it for you. (Previously a 5 star from me)

In her hands chocolate transforms from a sweet treat to a culinary sacrament, an homage to the spirit of tree and bean, a celebration of flavor. Her chocolate is my favorite, hands down, of any of the craft chocolatiers Ive tasted.So...while you can certainly buy her chocolate at other stores in the city,. treat yourself and make the pilgrimage to Logan Square to taste them at the source.

Fantastic hot chocolate. And there goat cheese chocolate was really tasty. The people working there where very accommodating and helpful. And the store its self is a small but nice place. They make homemade marshmallows that are really tasty. I really recommend going there.

This is my favorite place to get hot chocolate. I always get the salted caramel but I have Not been a fan this past week I have been here twice this week and on Wednesday My salted caramel chocolate was not thick and I never specified hot cocoa style. Now today I got another one and I’m straining out my cocoa nibs that I have been coming across while drinking it!

I have seen Katherine Anne at varied events, hard at work promoting her products and growing her business from the start. Thursdays (Daley Plaza farmers market day) have for years triggered a Pavlovian response in me for her all-natural honey caramels, especially the rosemary sea salt variety--and so Im thrilled she has opened this physical location. Her home-made marshmallows and drinking chocolate are a great option for the cooler months, and she keeps it interesting by rotating seasonal truffle flavors (which are hit-or-miss in my opinion...but good luck trying to wait to savor a hit!)

Amazing truffles and caramels. I am a cheap chocolate lover so I never thought I would enjoy the truffles, but after purchasing a box for my wife and then sampling some, the box became mine! So many interesting flavors to choose from and all very delicious. This is my go to spot for gifts now. They also have amazing marshmallows. And the people are very friendly and attentive. Definitely worth the price.

Katherine Anne is a gem in the Logan Square neighborhood. They have a wide variety of interesting flavors of chocolate truffle, home made marshmallows with interesting flavors added in, and their drinking chocolate is amazing.A word to the wise, get a small drinking chocolate and share it with a friend. Its so absurdly sweet and rich you probably wont finish it by yourself! Its delicious, but its for sipping, not gulping!They also have an interesting selection of sandwiches etc for lunch, which are unfortunately not my cup of tea based on reading the menu, but thats because I am sort of a weird simpleton when it comes to sandwiches. They look like theyd be appealing to most!

The place to be for hot chocolate. I love coming her on a crisp chilly day and walking around with their amazing hot chocolate in hand. Their location is pretty cozy to enjoy your drink at, however a little to quiet to stay at with a 5yr old. I did love the intimate warm atmosphere, but it was more ideal for a date/couple. I was not expecting their sandwiches to be good, but they def surpassed my expectations. Good choc, marsh mellows, and food? yes pls!

The chocolate flight is a great deal - go for it! Two of the ones I tried were great, one was not. The latter was the Mexican, which tasted overly diluted, with more milk than chocolate. Unlike the other two, which were thick in chocolate, the Mexican was high in spice but way too low in chocolate. If that were fixed, this would had been a five star experience.

Im pretty sure, after trying most of the hot chocolate of note in the city, that Katherine Anne makes the best drinking chocolate. Admittedly, I havent tried too many of the flavor options available, as there are many, but for better or worse Im more of a once you love something, stick with it kind of guy. Ive had the milk chocolate and the hazelnut, and Ive gotta say I think Ill get the hazelnut for the rest of my life in Chicago. Now, I love me some Mindy’s Hot Chocolate, and I love me some Bombo Bar, but this is the best.They make the temperature perfect enough to drink right away, in their cute little set up, or on the go. Staff is very friendly, sometimes overly-so, but they know what they have their hands on here... Premium ingredients, and doing things the right way is always rewarded in the chocolate world, so Im bringing the good news to friends who enjoy a great cup of chocolate.

Their drinking chocolate is a welcomed surprise and rivals that of Mindy’s Hot Chocolate which is the best I’ve ever had. Fear not if you can’t finish the whole thing because taking it home and reheating it for a couple of minutes is a great option (especially if you have some ice cream to accompany it).The truffles are another treasure. Each one that I tried was absolutely delightful. From standards like the salted caramel to interesting delights like the Curry truffle that I tasted. It’s almost as if Willy Wonka grew up settled down and got really sophisticated. If you’re looking to give chocolates, this is the place to go

The most delicious hot chocolate I have ever had. It was a spicy one with ginger and dark chocolate. Fantastic!
