This place is amazing! They make their own home made corned beef hash, out of real corned beef. The waitresses are incredibly friendly, and are always welcoming. The coffee is fantastic as well, and is endless, like it should be at any diner.I highly recommend trying this little place out, you wont regret it.
*what you’ll read below is solely a reflection of my personal experience. Keep in mind that people have different tastes and standards.*I visited the Diner on a Thursday for late lunch and we were promptly seated. Everyone was super courteous and I wish I had taken more pictures, but the ladies helping us seemed a bit uncomfortable with me taking pictures, although they never said anything, so I respectfully put the phone down. This place is very casual, yet cozy. Because they offer breakfast anytime, I ended up ordering the Mediterranean omelette, which was cooked to perfection! I was surprised that the combination of sautéed spinach and tomato didn’t make the omelette soggy. The Diner also offers a variety of sandwiches, salads and soups and everything is freshly cooked on location. My husband ordered breakfast too and said his food was really good, especially the corn beef hash, which was my first time trying, and it was delicious to me and my husband says it was the best he’s ever had!Even though we arrived near to closing time, we never felt rushed to finish our meal and leave.I’ll make sure to go back to try other goodies in the menu.
This place was great. They had real homemade corned beef n hash. One of the best Ive ever had. Went with my 3 yr old n her mother, n everything we got was fantastic. I couldnt of asked for a better experience. The waitress was great n on top of everything we needed. We were the last people in there, cuz they were closing, n we spoke to the owner for a minute before we left. She was a very nice person, n definitely someone, who u would want to support her business. When u leave u know that u just ate somewhere, where they care about their customers n the experience u have. Fantastic place we will definitely b going back, n I recommend them to the highest degree..
What an amazing place, I happen to find this by Google looking for a Diner and wow I am so glad I found this!! Very very clean as well as fast service. The food was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Dont pass this one by, I mean $4.99 early bird special every day in the morning, what more could you ask for :)
Stopped for a late breakfast on the way to the North Shore . We were greeted and offer a beverage right a way. We did have to wait a bit to order breakfast as the diner was quite busy . We were very happy they had a good breakfast selection. The food arrived hot and it was delicious. I had a cheese omelet with American cheese and Bacon and whole wheat toast, my mother had a scrambled egg and an English Muffin grilled. Everything was delicious and the bacon we both agreed was the best we ever had. The service was very good
Our second time in, and staff remembered us well. Fabulous food. Nothing has disappointed. Apple crisp waffle and the corned beef have topped the charts for me. Definitely worth the trip. Super friendly too.
Wonderful food with reasonable prices. This dinner has an amazing staff with great customer service skills. The food was delicious and came out it a fast manner. Had an amazing waitress named Gina.
This place was an awful experience on a Sunday morning. We waited for 1 hr and 10 minutes for an omelet and breakfast special. When the food came the home fries were raw and the bacon was so burnt it was like cardboard. We didnt touch a bit of the food. We asked for the bill and told them the food was unacceptable and we were leaving. They made us pay the bill for two plates of food that were not touched! We will never go back again. The waitress was fine and friendly - no complaints with her.Dont bother checking this place out.
I agree with other posters... kitchen is slow. We wanted to give them a chance to see for ourselves. The food was really good... omelets were great and cooked well. Home fries were tasty, their homemade beans were really good.We were seated right away and got our coffee fast and then it stalled. I dont know what happens in the kitchen. We waited at least an hour for our food. Id rate higher if the kitchen had worked better. Not sure if we will go back because of that. Ashame because everything else was great. Servers were friendly, place is clean, and they were busy.
So glad we stopped at this local gem. The coffee is so good. The food is fresh and there are old favorites made new and unique. Erin was casual and made us feel like regulars.
Incredible homemade cooking. Staff is friendly, service was excellent. Love supporting local Family Businesses. Come hungry, because portions are Large‼️
Family breakfast here was good. It was the very best Irish Benedict I have ever had. The cook really put that one together nicely. Highly recommended. Excellent bacon. The kids enjoyed the pancakes. The seating is quaint - there is a diner bar. Service was friendly though very busy on Sunday. Plan to try the lunch menu soon. Keep up the good work guys. Thank you.
The Chelmsford Diner is a hidden gem tucked just behind downtown Chelmsford in a little plaza that youd never look twice at. Ive been a few times and tried a selection of their omelets and so far Ive been happy. What makes this diner stand out amongst the local competition are the more uncommon breakfast items that they include in their food like shredded chicken and avocado. You can go here and get your typical breakfast, but if youre looking to branch out, this is a great place to visit. I also like that all of their omelets are available as scrambles which you can fork into your toast and create a makeshift breakfast sandwich.Ive also noticed that around the big breakfast rush hour of 9-11am, the diner isnt usually packed with a line out the door. If you wake up a little late, this place has a better chance of getting you seated than a few other places that will easily be a 30-45+ minute wait. With that being said, Ive taken one star off because of the wait from the kitchen. Of the handful of times Ive been, were seated immediately, our orders are taken and then the food takes a while. It never comes out cold though, always hot a fresh and worth the wait. If anything is a great time for coffee and conversation.**EDIT - So I added another star to make them 5 stars because Ive been quite a few times since I wrote my initial review and Id say that more often than not, the wait from the kitchen is not a wait. Its just just the time it takes for food to cook and then you get it. Always there will be exceptions here and there, but now I will solidly say that this place is well run by great people that make great food.
Great food and service. Drawback: it can take a bit long to get the food from the kitchen for a breakfast place. But the best homemade corned beef hash it makes it worth it.
The atmosphere/layout a nice, clean, mid-sized, friendly, family owned diner complete with counter seating. Its usually packed on the weekends (you will likely wait for a table, but its worth it) which, honestly, speaks to the quality of food and service. My wife and I LOVE that almost everything on the menu is or can be made gluten free (she has celiac), INCLUDING THE EGGS BENEDICT, and Ive never been able to finish an omelette... Theyre HUGE. We find the service to be a little slow which is, honestly, the only reason Im not giving it 5 stars but its not a deal breaker by any means.4/5 - will patronize again.
Awesome food, great service. Very lively fun staff. Quite expensive though.
The Chelmsford Dinner has a tasty breakfast and lunch menu. The staff is friendly and gets my order right. Their gluten-free menu is tasty and complete. Ive never had a bad reaction after eating at the Chelmsford Dinner; their knowledgeable kitchen staff gives me confidence to enjoy my meal. The bottomless mug of coffee makes any day better.
Probably the best corned beef hash Ive ever had. My wife loved her French toast too. Well definitely be back.
Picked this place because the reviews seemed ok, but the service was awful. We got there at about 9:40 on a Saturday morning and they were busy, but we were able to get a table. We ordered breakfast and drinks within 5 minutes. However, we sat, and sat, and sat.....other parties came and went, and we still had NO FOOD! I noticed a family sitting at a table who had been there BEFORE we arrived and they had just gotten their food about 5 minutes before we left - which means they were waiting almost AN HOUR for their food. Completely unacceptable. We got up and left after waiting about 40 minutes. Terrible service. I would not recommend this place EVER. Breakfast is not difficult, folks.
First visit, longtime Chelmsford residents; Excellent breakfast on a snowy Sunday morning! Delicious veggie omelette, best corned beef hash, fabulous Belgian waffle topped with apples, caramel sauce and whipped cream! Endless cup of coffee is very good as well! Friendly staff! Great service! We will be back!
Any item of the menu Ive ordered has been cooked perfectly, and arrived piping hot! I Ive only been there six or seven times and the wait staff already knows my regular order! I highly recommend going to Chelmsford Diner.
Great Breakfast here Town Employees are here everyday DPW all from Chelmsford. Great service and food Wish they had Baked Beans
So the location is odd, but I absolutely LOVE this diner. They have all different choices but it is all very tasty! I wish the seating inside was arranged differently but it is such a good atmosphere. The waitresses are wicked nice. I only feel good vibes entering that operation. I enjoy the Chelmsford Diner! I really recommend going their!
Friendly place. Grilled cranberry walnut muffin was tasty. Would eat here again.
Food is fine, wait staff is nice but are saddled by the sheer lack of any sense of urgency in the kitchen. The place was full but not crowded when we went and it took over an hour to get a basic breakfast. Very poor kitchen management, I feel bad for the wait staff whos wages suffer due to the fault of the kitchen.
Average diner. Variety of options. Average service. Average prices. Not really a lot of personality, but it was very busy. They do have gluten free options.
There Gluten Free food is not at all Gluten Free. We asked staff 3 times if everything ordered was Gluten Free and was told yes. My girlfriend was throwing up before she even got out of the parking lot. DONT EAT GLUTEN FREE HERE
This is our favorite Chelmsford breakfast spot. All the food is consistently terrific, and we are especially impressed with their gluten free menu. Their kitchen has a completely separate gluten free prep area, and they offer things that our nephew really missed when he was diagnosed with Celiac, like waffles and pancakes. Its a family run business and the waitstaff is very friendly. The dining area is smallish and its a popular place, so expect a short wait at busy times like Sunday brunch or for large groups (more than 4 people).
Best Diner in Chelmsford! I work right next door, and I go in about 3x a week! They have excellent customer service, the waitresses are fun. They have a very welcoming ambience and the best muffins! :) I would recommend this diner to everyone.
Good breakfast, quality ingredients with attentive waitress. But breakfast shouldnt take 30 minutes to cook. When half the restaurant is waiting for food at once, something is wrong. Its suppose to be a diner.
The BEST food and service. We love it!
I order the Irish Benedict almost every time. Great meal for me.always friendly customers and wait staff. Busy on weekends.
Second best thing now that Skips is gone.
Excellent breakfasts ever. Best home made hash I have ever eaten.
Food was acceptable but we waited over an hour for our breakfast. We will not be back.
Scramblers are great, will miss Cathy-waitress very much!!
Great little breakfast diner. Gluten free Belgian waffle was great, good service, good prices.
Excellent food and good service. Really tastes like mom used to make. Price is reasonable and the portions are great.
Good food. I love the sugar cookie pancakes but they are huge. Good place for breakfast.
Great place for a good meal at a low price. Great gluten-free options too: pancakes, muffins, and more. Sit at the bar to get to know the staff and cut down on the wait if its busy.
Hallelujah I could eat pancakes. And muffins. And waffles. All gluten free. This place is a miracle, thank you for giving me a normal breakfast out with the family
Decent food but slow. Not great if youre in any kind of hurry
You guys need to go back to breakfast menu... I need eggs benedict
Food quality caught me off guard. I ordered a BLT, it looked excellent, tasted just as good, and wasnt that hard on the wallet. I wasnt super optimistic about it being in a strip mall (I should withhold judgment but I may as well be honest) but I was floored. Service was excellent, food was rad, would absolutely go back.IMHO (in my honest opinion) they should buy the former friendlys building, and make it shine. Chelmsford center needs some more loveable retail.Boooo to lawyers offices and banks, yay to diners!
Excellent food, attentive waitstaff and reasonable prices. A true gem. A place to add to your favorites for repeat visits.
I love a breakfasts that isnt greasy with everything overloaded in butter, this is the 1st diner I have been to that did it perfectly. The waiters was friendly and fast, the pricell was very reasonable. I would highly recommend. We will definitely go back again.
Gluten free breakfast! Pancakes, waffles, French toast, theyve got it all. Owner family has celiac so they know their stuff!
First time in here. Waited less than 10 mins to be seated. Our server took our drink orders and brought them but did not take our food order for at least 10 more mins. Our food came a half hour later. The food went from the hot grill to our table. It was very good and filling. There was no background noise so you could here the conversation going on 3 tables over. The staff was all very nice. Was it worth the wait? Not to me but Im an impatient person when it comes to dining out.
I dont write reviews often, especially negative reviews, but my experience at this diner was so awful that I am compelled to share it so that others will think twice about going here.We got seated fairly quickly and waitress got us coffee and tea and took our orders shortly after. Neither coffee nor the water for the hot water was very hot. Then the wait began. We waited about 45 minutes before our food was ready. It wasnt that busy. Everyone had their food already, including the couple that got seated about 25 minutes later than us. When we looked into the kitchen, we saw 3 people working, well 2, I suppose, because one guy was munching and walking around. Not sure if he was doing any food prep. I hope he wasnt.Aside from the long wait, there were serious hygiene concerns. The 2 waitresses that were working, one was cleaning tables and moved the trash can and the other blew her nose (she seem under the weather), but neither one washed their hands afterward. We end up taking our food to go because the wait was just too long and we had plans for the day. When we finally ate our food (about 10 minutes after leaving the diner), we found the food to be very bad. I had ordered the veggie omelette and the vegetables were burnt. The other omelettes were not good either. We end up trashing half of the food.I ate at diners quite often, but it was my first time trying this diner, and now it would be the last.
Despite having 7 people working, a group of 4 were left waiting to be seated for 10 minutes....there were two tables available able to accommodate four. I witnessed waitresses bickering, waitresses having to convince a busser to clean up, and waitstaff tolerating a group of fat men cursing loudly within earshot of two families. The omelet ingredients tasted canned. It took 10 minutes to get a warm up on my coffee. There was no place to hang my coat, so it spent the entire meal warming my lap in the 74 degree restaurant.
This diner is a nice place for good food. If youre looking for the in and out kind of experience, the corporate turn em over experience, the food in 20 minutes experience, then go somewhere else. But if you want a nice, small, family run business, that serves FRESH food, GOOD food, and is a pleasant environment. Then this is the place. Its a slowed down, take your time, enjoy the food and your company type of place, which are becoming fewer and fewer as coporation after corporation is taking over this great nation of ours. So slow down, have a seat, and relax.. And dont forget to tip well.
Delicious food, staff was very pleasant
Waitress brought us coffee then never came back to the table to take our order. She walked past us as if we didnt exist. We waited 15+ minutes and then just left. It was not worth it to us to flag anyone down or wait. Will not return.
Came in for a quick lunch and found out they only do breakfast on the weekends but gave it a go. Took for ever for the food to arrive, we were there over an hour and it wasnt particularly busy. Wait staff were very nice and theres a good selection of breakfast with large portions. Somethings like the cinnamon swirled pancake was good, other things like the breakfast sandwich was pretty meh. I think this place might be better if you were a local, regular other wise Id probably try else where.
Great breakfast food. Everyone loved what they got
Excellent breakfast! The sausage was delicious and I loved our server (forgot her name).
Best homemade corned beef hash Ive had.
Terrible. After waiting 15 minutes for food, counter person finds out order never made it to the kitchen. I walked out - never to return. Should be no stars.
Perfection is worth the wait, best breakfast around that Ive found so far. Friendly staff and the person working the magic behind the grill knows what theyre doing
Great people, great food, great service!
I love this diner they make real corn beef hash
Food was good but service was slowNice people though..
The corn beef hash is amazing. Their variety of pancakes and waffles is truly extraordinary.
Great service and delicious food.
Good service, nice and clean and the people there very nice
Best gluten free breakfast youll find anywhere with excellent and friendly table service!
If we were told when we first walked in that it would be a 45 minute wait for our food, I would have walked out. Super cute inside, the waitress we had was incredible but the food was way below subpar and the wait for our food was rediculous. Do yourself a favor, and go to Rosies diner.
Great breakfast options. Gluten free menu options too.
Slowest Kitchen ever... got there befor it was busy and still waited an hour without receiving a single thing besides coffee
How have I not found this place earlier. The staff is a blast!
Had to add a star for the one girl who was actually nice and attentive (eventhough she was in training)I was pretty much ignored and I have rarely felt so uncomfortable at a breakfast dinnerThe food was ok -not greatThe eggs were perfectBut the steak was very overcookedI read some good reviews for this placeI can not give a good review and I will not go back
Very cozy diner feel, great food lots of options! Would recommend.
Dont be put off by the strip mall location, once youre inside this is as good of a classic diner as you could wish for.
Good food slow kitchen
I love this place. Great service and food.
Homemade corned beef hash! Nuff said.
It took too much time for 3 meals in a, nearly empty restaurant, and 2 of them were cold when they finally came out, but service was good, prices are reasonable, and the food was cooked properly.
Told waiteould be 10 -15 minutes ok heard food was good we waited 40 minutes later we were seated. Waitress came over after 15 minutrs at our table took our order and waited another 45 minutes for our meal food was etible but not good people next to us ended up taking there food to go it took so long . Not sure why food takes so long it is a small place and lioked to have plenty of help in kitchen waitress seemed to have no problem standing around shooting the breeze will never go again
Great food and service
Enjoyed the hash browns and omelette, pleasent service
Holy cow that was so good you folks have to go try the sugar cookie pancakes deliciousness!!!!
Friendly staff and good breakfast!
Food was decent, but probably the longest Ive ever waited for breakfast in my life. Dont come here if you have anywhere to be after.
Very good place to eat love it there.
Great food and the staff are always so nice.
Excellent breakfast...a little small but I enjoyed it
Very friendly staff and great food.
Delicious food, amazing owners and staff
The food is decent but the service is super slow. They do have some gluten free choices. If there is a wait for a table expect a long wait. They are extremely slow.
Fabulous selection, healthy options, gluten free options, and clean!! Loved it
Amazing food and even better prices! Very friendly staff too!
Friendly, quick service. Lots of gluten free options.
Food was good, menu needs updating. Tried ordering two items both times being told that no longer sold it.
Celiac friendly. Excellent food.
Great food and a great staff, what else do you need.
Clean pleasant diner at very affordable prices.
We go regularly for weekend breakfast. My wife loves the gluten free options.
Great food great service
Good solid breakfast burrito. Tasty.
