Was staying in downtown Charlotte and this was the only place open. Had to get it take out and used the digital kiosk to order and pay for the meal. Was easy and hassle free.Got the cesear salad π₯ and the chicken π noodle soup to start. Then got some meatballs and for the main meal chicken, π mushroom and shrimp π€ Alfredo. Throughly enjoyed everything and was glad they were open for business!Staff was friendly and quick. Stayed at the bar and watched the Dodgers lose while I waited. Would recommend this place to anyone going downtown.
Since I moved to charlotte from LA most of the food has been a little underwhelming. This has surprisingly been the best food so far. The price is also reasonable. But best of all the service is fantastic. You sit anywhere you like and order via phone or at the front. But its much quicker and convenient for everyone if you order at the table on your phone. Service is really fast and really good. Fantastic decor.
We just moved from Pineville to uptown and Im excited to have all these amazing places I can walk to to eat and visit easily now. Ive heard some good things about here so for dinner my fiance and I decided to get food here.I walked the few blocks it took after placing my order online and was met with disappointment. Although the bartender greeted me and told me someone would be with me soon, I was waiting what felt like an unreasonable amount on time. Two staff members came up to the desk with what looked like a handheld but I was not acknowledged. They chatted for a few minutes until one walked away, the second went to walk away then I guess thought better of it and turned to help me unenthusiastically. I got my food quickly after that which was sitting on a shelf waiting for me and left. Now the food itself, absolutely do NOT get ravioli. I have never in my life been so upset with ravioli. How do you make such lifeless stuff pasta squares? The taste was not much better. I was so disappointed. My fiance has the baked ziti which was a complete 180 from my dish and so good.Overall Id go back again to try something different and hope maybe service was better. But for my first time I was not impressed.
This is one of the best places I have ever been too. Its really great for covid 19 too because you order online or at a kiosk without having to talk to the water. There is also a bar near the front and patio seating outside. The buttered noodles were great and the portions were huge. The Oreo layered dessert is the best dessert Ive ever had. This place was great and staff was really friendly. Kind of expensive but worth it
We had a great experience for lunch and will definitely go back. The Bruschetta Pesto appetizer was fresh and came out quickly. The Strawberry Spinach Salad was delicious and the perfect portion side. The service was solid as well (hard to find these days). Im excited to try the pasta next time we go back.
We had my sonβs rehearsal luncheon here and it was fabulous. They sectioned off an area in the bar for us that made it nice and private. The food was good and the staff was very attentive and friendly. It was a pleasure working with Andrew the manager. He was very communicative throughout the planning process, which I really appreciated as I was doing it from Florida. Would definitely recommend Bella Ciao for a casual wedding rehearsal venue!
We went here for lunch and, since we went in early, there wasnβt a lot of people. The staff were very nice and attentive and, when asked about their vegan options, the waiter double checked in the kitchen to make sure sure he didnβt get them wrong, which I really appreciated. The portions were big and very filling, and you can get some containers to take the leftovers home.I really loved the ordering system, which you can order on your phone and they bring it to your table, which reduces the amount of contact you have with the staff, which makes everything safer. The waiter also kept checking on us to see if we needed more drinks and if everything was in order. We loved this place!
Had an awful first experience here. The ordering system was a complete flop and failed to mention that a 20% tip would be automatically added to the bill despite getting literally no service at this restaurant. We were the only ones in there and still couldnβt manage to get service. There were multiple hairs in our food and they remade the dish, but at that point I just wanted my money back. The food quality however was decent. All of the dishes were brought out separately and they failed to bring fresh silverware each time. There clearly is a lack of training, structure and good management. Extremely disappointed in this restaurant after several great experiences with other Toast chains.
Great ambiance. The music is not of an Italian theme. The service was less than a 10% tip. Tyler recovered the service issues each time. Great job. Our server was more interested in getting off work to take care of business. Food is fantastic. Pasta is made on site. Cool observation area. The server needs to learn to pre-dress and pre-bus a table if they expect to make a great living as a server. Portions were so big we had to have leftovers which is a great thing. I will be back but I will have a different server. Using the online ordering service from the table was new but cool. Well designed. I didnt have to wait for the check and I could control the flow of ow food came out. Appetizers first and then entrΓ©e, etc.
I went with my wife for dinner when I visited uptown Charlotte. This restaurant is right in the center of uptown. I loved the concept as well. You have to order by phone and pay on phone itself and they bring the dish to you. I ordered bruschetta and lasagne. Bruschetta was ok, but lasagne was awesome. Price wise as well it was decent. I would definitely recommend to check to this place out.
We had drinks so out bill was higher for to that but the food bill itself was amazingly low for all we got. Homemade pasta and sauce to die for. Juicy, succulent meatballs - not dry. And plenty of π§ CHEESE on all of it which of course just made everything even better. Well absolutely be back. **Side note - their Moscato had a bitter aftertaste. Theyd benefit from finding a different brand like Cupcake**
Met some friends here last Friday nightaround 5:30, only a few other tables at the time.Even if you sit down, you still have to order on your mobile device, nobody will come to your table unless you hail them. This method of service really disconnects the waitstaff from the tables. Ordering when separate checks are in play is more complicated and there is nothing in the app to clearly define which option has which outcome on parties.I had to repeatedly hail a server for drink refills and many servers were frequently congregated in front of the kitchen line with their backs to the few tables that were there. The main courses were pretty good (main reason Im giving 3 stars) but the cannolis were disappointing, not a bit of sweetness to them and plain. For this type of experience (the ordering alone), management should NOT default tip rates to 20%. Ive been in this industry before and disconnecting servers like this is not a good idea.
Really great restaurant with a unique way to order and pay. My parents and I each ordered a pasta dish and we got a pizza to share. The service was really good and we always enjoy ourselves when we go here. Its easily my favorite restaurant in Charlotte!
Ordering food was new and easy. You ordered everything and paid for it before you even sat down, including the tip. It was difficult to get refills as the staff was all busy running around. Other than that it was a great experience
I ordered wine and there were lipstick stains left on the wine glass! Obviously, the glass was unwashed. It is unacceptable that it came to my table dirty. How can you not wash dishes especially during COVID19 and how can the waiter not realise that? I also ordered ravioli which was the worst ravioli Ive ever had in my life. I enjoyed the 5 dollar ravioli that I bought from the supermarket more. Its very frustrating how hard you work to earn money but people cant even wash the dishes and cook pasta properly! And you end up paying 30 dollars!
Really nice ambient to eat and chill. You select your table and order through their online system which is really nice (my minor complaint being that you add tip before getting any service). Food is affordable with really nice portion sizes. In addition, they have choice of using whole wheat for certain selection of pasta style, in case you are watchful for refined products.
The food was delicious, but servants were on phones or talking so we waited for long. Only Cypress was working very hard, and trying to serve all the tables. I wished all other servants were like him. He is amazing. All this four stars are for him. Thank you, Cypress!
Went here for lunch and the food and service was good as always. Asked for vegan options and they took their time in looking at what they had and how things could be modified.
I liked the place, the decoration and the option to order and pay all by smartphone. I asked for a whole spaghetti carbonara, the plate is big and good! The only reason that I didnβt give 5 stars, was because I didnβt find risoto in the menu, when I choose this restaurant itβs because I really wanted to eat a risoto.
This place is really cool. Its also huge! We had a bunch of drinks here while visiting from out of town and they were really good.
Elegant, but casual, perfect lighting, spacious and relaxing. The food was top notch. Iβve never had pizza that tasted so amazing!! The staff were pleasant and helpful. Overall this delightful restaurant in uptown Charlotte NC deserves top ratings. If you havenβt experienced it yet, you have got to make plans to go.
RJ the bartender was great!!Foodβ¦. not so much. We expected better.Pizza was undercookedβ¦..had to send back.Came back and the bottom crust still wasnβt browned.CHICKEN Caesar salad came without chicken. Had to send back.Salad came back with clump of chicken dumped on top and was too salty.Oh well. Lesson learned.Choose wiser than we did.
A unique atmosphere. You order from the table from a QR Code and your phone. Everything is paid for on your phone with card before they visit your table. (including tip....not sure I like that. Tips should be reserved and if the service is Excellent Ill usually tip WAY over....) The food came out quickly and tasted excellent.
Nice place. Just stepped in for a late evening drink. Bartender was great. Didnt eat but the food smelled amazing.
ZERO SERVICE. 3 stars because Food is delicious. Seat yourself, order & pay from your phone ahead of time. They do bring the food to the table but after that all of the staff ignores you completely. No refills, no straws, no extra plate that we asked for. Probably a staffing issue but that was a waste of a $10 tip to sit here and thirst. Yummy pizza and calzones tho.
Great food! Super fresh and delicious. The bartender, Hunter, is absolutely amazing! She took wonderful care of me and she was the reason I ate at this restaurant 4 days in a row.
Tim the bartender was so pleasant. We enjoyed a 4 course meal at the bar. Fresh pasta and meatballs were delicious.
Great menu, friendly staff and generous portions. Great for lunch or dinner, with a very unique decor that straddles the line of chic restaurant and trendy nightclub.
Enjoyed it! Bottom line its like Panera but for Pasta - which isnt a bad thing!! They have a great variety of pastas available in an upscale but very casual environment. If youre looking for a mix to your usual pasta spot, you wont be disappointed with Bella Ciao!
Another great meal here. 12/6/2019Love eating here when visiting Charlotte. Pasta made fresh daily. You watch them cooking your food at the different stations. Celebrated our daughters Bachelor of Computer Engineering from University of North Carolina at Charlotte yesterday. 12/2018Another great meal today.
UPDATE: This business was very proactive when they heard about my experience and they made it right. Thats all I could ever ask. Wow! How often does that happen? I will give them another shot soon.βββββDisgusting. I ordered linguine and meatballs with marinara. I got a lump of starchy spaghetti, with a little marinara that tasted like Ragu, and some dried out meatballs. I also ordered the mild spicy option and got one little tiny sliver of jalapeΓ±o.?.? Italians donβt do jalapeΓ±o! I also ordered a slice of cheesecake with strawberry drizzle. I think I will save that until after I throw up in the morning. $22 + tip for that?! Ah nope.
Cute restaurant name but I had the worst marinara pasta Iβve ever had from this place. The spaghetti was over cooked and stuck together like cheese. The spaghetti also had a weird unnatural taste to it like it was cheap and not properly seasoned or prepared. The sauce was sparse and flavorless.Just all around bad. A cute name and nice LOOKING restaurant isnβt all that it is cracked up to be. Youβve been warned.
Its alright. If you are looking for a personable experience this is not the place. You seat yourself, scan the menu, order and pay without contact from the wait staff until your drinks are brought out. From there food came in a steady stream not really able to enjoy the courses such as apps and salad. But that wasnt much of a worry. The food was very mediocre. I had high hopes for this place but shouldve just opted for a sandwich. But if you are looking for a place without much contact due to COVID-19 this place is great. My Gen Z sister appreciated t atmosphere more than myself if that helps.
The food was better, in my opinion, compared to Vapianos but very similar. You order at your table now, on your phone, and they bring it to you. The only questionable thing was getting refills. Someone gets them for you but they dont come to check on you so that was weird.
The location is very good and it has a nice atmosphere. Those are the only good things. The dishes we ordered ranged from bad to average, with nothing reaching the level of good or worth eating again. The service was nonexistent, we had to walk around ourselves if we needed anything which is fine with me but nothing is self service so I had to find people for refills, napkins, etc. The place was much better when they had the prior format and lack of service was not an issue.
I donβt write reviews, having said that we had the worst experience ever. When we arrived there were three girls were behind the Hostess station. They were not setting people so we found a table right next to the kitchen, after an five minute we were able to FLAG down a waiter. We asked him for a wine list. After he returned to the table he never came back. I took it upon myself to go to the bar to get our order. Bartender was great!Back at the table no one ever told us we had to order from the table. Got on to their website and was able to order. Our table was small and there was three of us.Didnβt bring enough plates so we could share our appetizer. Next they brought dinner which was not right. They never cleaned the dishes off the table so I relocated them to another table.I canβt say the service was bad because there wasnβt any.The restaurant is big, they seem to have plenty of staff. It wasnβt just our table, a lot of the tables had dirty dishes. They sat there for as long as we were there.Worse ever!!!!!
The food here was so good! Overall the experience was great. Roxy treated us so well and was very attentive. We will be back again for sure!
So heres the problem. You order, pay and tip before you get any food or service. What kind of scam is that? So the service was abismal, had to ask for drinks after ordering on the app and waiting a while, one of the drinks was diet even though we didnt order a diet and no one ever came back to ask if we wanted a refill or anything else. Why? Because we had already paid and tipped. Food was eh, not bad but nothing I would eat again, pizza may have been a better option than the pasta. Just a tip, pasta is not soup, it does not need to be drowning in sauce. The bowl was overflowing with sauce. Dont do that. Get the pizza.
Great spot in a cute part of town! Greek salad was really good and the cheese pizza was thin, crispy and tasty! No pics because I was so hungry and couldnt resist! π
Good food at a good price. Real nice restaurant in a fun location. Only trouble was the service. Had to keep asking for silverware, drinks, napkins etc.
The food at this establishment is very good and the portions are great. I dont like the fact that everything is done in a non personable way. The staff that greeted us was nice, but you have to place your order at a kiosk or seat yourself and order by phone (using the scan on the table). Your payment is made before the meal comes, this includes the tip. The server brought our meal and thats it. She never asked if we needed anything, nor asked if we liked the food. She passed us several times without a word. The restaurant had few people, it wasnt busy at all. Another server passed us and we asked for a box for the remaining food. I explained our experience with the other server. She said We dont have servers, we have runners. My friend then asked: Well, whats the tip for? All she said was that all runners split the tip. I guess they get the tip up front so they feel theres no need to work for it. Its funny when I mentioned it to the staff up front, they stated they were sorry we had that experience with the servers. Apparently, the only time you get service is when they bring your food. Youre on your own after that. We were truly disappointed with the service at this restaurant.
Mu husband had the Salmon Carbonara and I had the Steak asparagus gorgonsola. Wonderful meal.
Wasnt taking anymore customers only have 1 server, very disappointed draw 2 hours to eat here.
It is what it is...a good substitute for Olive Garden right in city center. If you go expecting Olive Garden you will be very pleased.Staff was nice, pesto was spicy, Primavera was good.
Self serve type of restaurant. One big bar for placing food order and a separate bar for drinks. Place was a little dirty, but a festival had just occurred outside so it was clear to see tons of people had been through. Overall they had a good selection of pasta and pizza. You can customize everything to your liking. Flavor was right on point and the Sangria was just as tasty. When I first walked in my initial reaction was a 2, but in the end I walked out giving them a 4.
Terrible service cold food taste like itβs canned hard to order food comes out haphazardly. I will not go back. Terrible system for ordering your food
Better places in the area. Drinks took 30min to arrive, as did food. Bolognese pasta was okay, nothing special. The good news is youll eat all of it because youll build up an appetite. Because of the wait. You pay/tip before you get your food which is odd. No waiters/waitresses just runners, with all the money theyre saving from not hiring them you think they would be able to hire more chefs and bartenders. Would not recommend
If you are a pasta lover, stop reading this and start walking here. Iβm serious. Everything was Fantastic. Great service by the staff as well!
Very good experience. Select food and get it down the way you want with the chosen ingredients. They make it the way we ask for . Quite a nice ambience nice high chair type seatings. Reasonably priced. And taste good too. But not extrodinary. They got small bar and a small outdoor seating too. Overall a good one especially one of the best Italian in uptown Charlotte.
It was a nice experience but I probably wont go back. The menu is only available through your phone but for 2 of the 6 of us in our party there was no cell service available so someone else had to place our order on their phone. Due to this the food came out staggered. They were understaffed and the waitress seemed to be having a hard time keeping up. The menu didnt offer much variety. Not great for a business lunch if someone isnt in the mood for pizza, pasta, or a pizza folded in half. I had a salad. It was ok. It had filet and shrimp on it, but the steak was burnt on some of the pieces and maybe medium on some of the others. Not much consistency and only luke warm. Id recommend going somewhere else.
Nice vibe when you walk in. We sat bar side, next to the large outdoor opening. The bartender took our food and drink orders and kept checking on us throughout our time there. Their Sangria is amazing. The ravioli was a little too al dente for me and I was expecting more spice/heat (as I requested) since youre asked this question when placing your order. Iβll be back for the vibe and the Sangria (of course).
It tastes like the cooked my ravioli in salsa. My sisters bolognese was not good either. Bruschetta was ok. Overall disappointing experience
Mediocre. Used to come here when it was Vapiano and it was much better all around. Hate that the quality and the service didnβt quite make it to the new restaurant. Hope it gets better.
I really like this place. Iβm giving 3 stars because it is kinda confusing. The menu is amazing! Itβs chaotic at peak times because you serve yourself. Cafeteria style, everything goes on a card, then you pay when you leave. We were there for the ACC championship and will go back for sure. You really need more instructions when you come in. Other than that it was good.
My experience here was not the best. The food was delivered quickly. Unfortunately things went down hill afterwards. Our server brought our meals out and promptly disappeared, leaving us to flag down bussers for any additional service. This being with the restaurant nearly empty of patrons and several wait staff standing around conversing. I had to get up to get to go boxes and request water on more than one occasion. The only helpful staff were Sammy and Alejandro who went out of their way to attend to us.
I enjoyed going to the stations to select pasta, salad or pizza. I enjoyed the fresh pasta made and served within minutes. I enjoyed the generous and delicious salad. So why not rate this 5 stars? What I did not enjoy was the sizable (about 1.5 inches) cockroach that dropped on an employee at the register (who promptly fled in disgust) then flew over to the dessert container, from where it jumped onto me. I promptly walked outside to get the cockroach out of the restaurant. I returned to the register, paid my bill and left. Many people saw this. All were surprised that none of the staff came up to me in appreciation, to apologize, or to comp me.So, the arrival of such a healthy cockroach lowers my rating a bit. I hope this is remedied. There are decent sticky traps that dont require massive poison in a restaurant.
I started coming here when the name was vapianos still. I am absolutely obsessed with their chicken Alfredo dish. The sauce is addicting and super yummy. Before I started a no carb diet, I would always get the chicken Alfredo with noodles and that was amazing. Today I called them and asked if they could make the chicken Alfredo but sub broccoli instead of noodles. They completed that request with no hesitation. Iβm sitting here eating this dish and it is beyond perfect. Thank you so much guys for accommodating so well with people with restrictions!!!
They have this hybrid system order on line but eat in store totally unfuctonal.1 if i pay head the tips of course is lower2 the service it was totally inefficient and mediocre.3 the portions to big .4 the liguini without salt.however the Panna and works even no Italian style it was good and the fusilli with mushrooms with Panna too. i will strongly advise you to pick on livlbr service and do Self service
Despite the somewhat confusing ordering process, the food made up in taste what was lacking in the traditional serving styles we see everywhere. If I went again, it would obviously be much more intuitive. The food came out quickly and exactly to order - I mean I hope you canβt mess that up, you speak right to the chef! The food was definitely worth a trip to this place, would for sure have it again. It is a reasonable price and is amazing food for that price point. If you are reading this, try this place out if you are in the mood for very good italian food.
Service was disappointing. No server for service. (Apparently you must order everything virtually now) which would be fine if staff would check on the table. The bartender was helpful in refilling our cups (after we asked).
If you like seating yourself, anywhere that makes you happy, order yourself, so that it is exact, eat great food and pay when you order so you can leave anytime you like this is the place for you. Sound too good to be true? Try for yourself and find out.
Not to much variety and staff does not check in you. We had to search for help to get more water and to go boxes.
Food is very good, I like the ambiance and servers are friendly. A little pricier lunch, but well worth it.
They messed up my order the first time.Chicken Alfredo had almost no flavor at all, it was the worst Chicken Alfredo I ever had. Its what I expect McDonalds Chicken Alfredo would taste like. Asked for broccoli on it and somehow they missed that as well.I have low expectations, but I was shocked how bad this food was.
This ambience of this restaurant was very nice. This place technically doesnt have waiters, when you arrive they give you a card to swipe that calculates what you order and at the end you take your card to the register. I personally had the calzone and I enjoyed it. The prices are reasonable I believe my food was like 23bucks and thats only because I had a glass of wine. I recommend this place if your in Charlotte it was a unexpected delight.
Party of 6, and 2 meals had undercooked noodles. The replacement dish was superb.... π₯°
The food was incredible, serving large portions and the drinks were delicious!! Went there for Mothers Day and sat on the patio with my family. It was the perfect lunch spot. π½πβ€
It was so nasty and the lasagna tasted like spaghetti-os literally!
In Charlotte for a family vacation. The hotel recommended several restaurants close by so we tried Bella Ciao. I dont know if it is because it is in a downtown location or if it is because of the light rain, but the service was bad and the servers that were present were accommodating. Unfortunately Bella was not the only restaurant with the same service. Is it Charlotte?I think this experience is a bad example for North Carolina.
I would rate this place a 0/10. The food was cold and it was not good. I am person that has a peanut allergy and not one time on there menu does it say that they cook with peanut oil or some of there pizzas contain peanuts. After eating there food I was very sick and my family called informing them about the situation and they were rude and didnβt care. I donβt recommend.
