I have had several tattoos done by Josh. The owners are very nice. The shop is clean and comfortable. A very friendly atmosphere. Cash only though. Its definitely important to come in to speak with someone about what you want to do because they are APPOINTMENT ONLY! This not a walk-in shop. The shop is clean and smoke-free.

When I arrived at 10 am thr shop was open and Defense was waiting on me. He greeted me and went directly in to talking about the tattoo that I wanted. He drew it up and it was perfect. While on the table we talked and laughed for pretty much the whole 4.5 hours. He made me feel very comfortable. The tat was only supposed to be 4 hours but he wanted it to be perfect. At the 4 hour mark I was ready to go whether it was done or not I had had enough but he couldn’t let me leave until it was just right. When it was finally done it was perfect. He bandage me up and I was good to go. This is my second tattoo by Defense and I will be back for more. He does quality work and his prices are reasonable. I travel from Steele Creek where there are plenty of tattoo shops to University to get my ink. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for my tattoos. I definitely recommend Blaq Lyte Tattoos 100%.

I had been looking for a tattoo parlor that I could feel at ease . I went to several places and when I walked in you could tell from their demeanor that they didn’t want me there, you get a lot of that here in NC if you are of a certain race. Because the tattoo I wanted was so personal to me, I needed the entire experience to reflect the importance of my state of mind. My brother had recently passed and I wanted to have his name tattooed on my arm ( somehow it seemed that it would help ease the pain that I am going through). So I searched for a Black Owned Tattoo Parlor and google brought up Blaq Lyte Tattoo. My Artist was Josh and let me say that although Josh is not African American he gave me the experience that I was looking for. I realized that I didn’t need an African American person to give me the experience that I needed, I just needed someone that respected me and had a passion for art. I am so pleased with the work that Josh did. I will be back and I also recommend you visit them. Tattoos are so personal, you need the entire experience to reflect that. Great Job

First of all, I called first for information and someone answered the phone and was very helpful, they guided me to the website drop Downs where I could see the artists work and decide on a style. I was in need of an add-on. I picked Defense who happens to be the owner. During my consultation I found the shop to be easy to find, and a welcoming staff upon my arrival. Defense and I came up with a design idea, scheduled a time for the tattoo. My work schedule is crazy so he graciously offered to open his shop on Sunday to complete my tattoo. Horrible service. Terrible attitude. Extremely rude. We went in for piercings and left. We werent willing to pay for that type of behavior.

Very professional. I came in with a tattoo design in memory of my father. I explained that this would be my first tattoo and that I was nervous. I was able to email my design to the the artist while in the shop. He then added in the lettering for my design and printed it out for me to see. Next, he verified my size preference and position placement. He was then able to print the tattoo design on a clear film that attached to my skin to ensure that my tattoo is what I wanted and exactly where I wanted it. It came out beautiful. Ive gotten so many compliments. Others have even decided to do similar designs. So I want to thank u. I dont remember ur name but u did an amazing job. Its only been 8 months but my tattoo has not faded.

Im sure that this place is good for piercings and tattoos, but the customer service is legit trash. I went in about a week ago to discuss the design and price of a tat I wanted. The guy at the front desk (his name is Defense) told me little to nothing. His response to every question I asked was I DONT KNOW. LIKE WHAT!!!!?! Do Better

My mom and I came in for matching tattoos about an hour or so before closing. Our artist, Darius, was very chill. He did an amazing job on our tattoos and made the atmosphere laid back enough for me to get through my first tattoo anxieties. It took maybe a little over an hour for the both of us to be done. Its been about 2 weeks and my tattoo looks great! I dont have much experience getting tattoos but 100% want all my future ones to be like this one. Thanks!

I came two days ago to get my nose re-pierced because it closed up over night. I was so scared it was going to hurt worse than the first time I got it pierced but it didnt hurt nearly as much! I had Ash who was extremely kind and explained everything to me! Im not too sure when Ill decide to get my first tatto but when I do, Im definitely coming here!!!

Had a piercing done at Claires that had caused my ear to start swelling. Went here for some advice and the guy was wonderful and helped loosen the backing on my cartilage piercing. I swear this guy was not just helpful but this place was also extremely sanitary. I think he almost went through a new bottle of alcohol just cleaning up everything, changing his gloves constantly, and disinfecting everything in sight. I dont think anyone could have been more helpful and kind. I am going back there soon to get my nose pierced.
