Just WOW! Super helpful staff and knowledgeable. I’m a curvy Black woman and new to hiking. I asked for jackets that covered my bum and Karen was not afraid to dive in and help me with style and sizing. Even asked if I was comfortable with men’s jackets just to see if I liked the style and fit better. Colleen was super helpful and patient as I tried on shoes and understood why I was returning the ones received online. She made other suggestions and I found a pair I LOVE!! Joe gave me alll the deals.It was such a great experience that I’m more than okay with shopping in store and not online here!!! I can’t wait to come back and use my $20 cash!!!Thanks for being willing to help and answering my questions as I learn all about my new found passion of hiking. Great store and great staff!!!

Excellent. I had the best experience on the phone and in the store. The gentleman who answered the phone and waited on me was exceptional. He had excellent knowledge and answered all my questions. He fit me with shoes that were designed for my feet. He understood what I needed and made my experience so special. I am so grateful for this amazing employee he went above and beyond for me. I have trouble finding good fitting shoes. So I am SO happy I went to REI after trying several other shoe places, and every shoes place at the Premier Outlets.Jay and Mary were VERY knowledgeable about their product, and patient with me as I tried on quite a few pairs before finding the right ones.Great store with wonderful staff.

Never had a bad experience here. All the employees are super friendly and helpful. Today the young lady in shoes was great. Turned me on to a new brand of shoes. Only downside is their location but that doesnt represent the store or employees

Staff were helpful as always at REI. However, it is a smaller store compared to others Ive been in with smaller selection and stock. They can still certainly help you get measurements and find out what you need for online orders.

I went into REI to buy hiking shoes. The shoe area is cordoned off and you have to ask an associate to help you. I have never experienced such service in buying shoes as I did at REI. The sales associate with so knowledgeable. He measured every aspect of my foot including length, width, Arch height, etc. His recommendation was spot on. The shoes fit me like a glove. I tried on other shoes and they did not feel like me nearly as well as the shoe he had recommended to me. He also had me do some fit tests to make sure that the shoes fit me properly. I would highly recommend REI for outdoor pursuit shoe purchases.

Visit for water and hike shoes by Keen Gentleman in shoes was so helpful I am so glad that I went there instead of ordering on line, as I would have sized them incorrectly. The sandals are perfect! Thank you again! REI is the resource for hiking and water activities

The staff goes out of their way to help. Zach in at the bike section was incredibly friendly and helpful; he even helped us carry our bike all the way to the parking lot. He gave us lots of great advice on accessories. We couldnt be happier with the customer service!

Was here looking for camping gear, their selection is good, and the sales staff was quick to answer my questions.

We are a fan of the REI brand, this is the first store we have visited that has no second level, I believe we like this layout. Not having to go up stairs to go to a different department. The location is good with plenty of parking. The staff is very helpful and plenty are around to help. There are plenty of items in stock and sizes as well. Looking forward to visiting more often.

I went here on Saturday, March 13, 2021. Everyone in the store was so helpful, from the lady at the door when you walk in, who helped me find someone to help me with a jacket, which I got. This store was very nice.

Summary: Impressed with COVID protocol. Handled anti-masker well. Thankful to the employees for keeping the shoppers safe!I went to the store to return something I had purchased online. There was a line outside to go in, due to capacity restrictions. There was a REI employee outside manning the door, making sure everyone who went in had masks on, and that the capacity rules were being followed. The man in the line in front of me tried to go in without a mask. He was stopped and told he was required to wear a mask to go in. The man said he wasnt able, due to medical reasons (he did not expand). They called a manager out and she confirmed that it was company policy, and required by everyone who went in. Despite his griping and calling her brainwashed, he used a mask to go inside and was then quickly asked to leave (I presume) when he almost immediately came back outside for not complying.I was really impressed by the way the REI employees handled the situation. They were very respectful and did a good job and making sure the situation didnt escalate. And Im thankful that theyre requiring masks to keep everyone safer.

Wow! In the market for a cold-weather running jacket. Stopped in. Social distancing measures in place and everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. Especially the gentlemen that introduced me to Patrick and Patrick himself, who was very insightful, and proud of his employer and all they stand for. Regret taking so long to check them out.

My husband and I went there to look for a pair of hiking boots. He had his mask over his mouth, but not over his nose (he has asthma). We were browsing, minding our own business, and away from other people - when a female employee came up and in a VERY sarcastic and deprecating tone said to my husband Are you okay?? - referring to his mask. He then proceeded to explain why his mask wasnt covering his nose, then, without a care in the world - told us we had to leave. Horrible customer service if you ask me... totally unnecessary, rude, and the opposite of compassionate in my opinion. REI has lost a life long customer of myself, and my husband, and the rest of my family who spent quite a bit of money there in the past. Not anymore though!

This store is not what it once was. When this store opened it was a well stocked outfiter for serious outdoor enthusiasts. But not anymore. It has become a clothing store for yuppie who want to look outdoorsy while walking their dogs at the city park.

Convenient location. Good stuff. Huge store. Friendly service. And free parking too!

It was my first time to REI ever when I walk in I was impressed they had any outdoors gear you would ever need walk overTo the camping section no one came to help with was just about to walk out but the associate named Been I think that was his name came over asked if I need any help he was very knowledgeable on the sleeping bags and everything else containing to camping he diffantly needs a raise our something because like said was about to walk out.REI diffantly needs to work on there customer service.

I went there looking for mittens. On the web site they has a nice selection. It was not the case in the store. I would probably do better at Walmart.

False advertisement online for this store. Traveled from Gastonia to Huntersville to find some snowboard boots for our son since our regular place to go is currently out of stock. While inside we were approached numerous times if we needed help, just looking around for what we needed. But theres a catch... we seen a woman come from the back while on walkie talkie, she looked around till she seen us and stayed on me my husband and kids while there. We could tell she thought we were going to steal or something. Obviously were not from the area and its the richie area so of course how we were dressed made her think we were bad people. Not to mention when I look back at her she gives us a snobby look. She dont need to work there with judging the book by the cover.

Knowledgeable and helpful staff make getting outfitted for the outdoors a pleasure. I had a great experience getting a new pair of hiking boots. After measuring and looking at my feet, he recommended a couple brands and styles of boots to me, the first pair he brought out fit just right. Of course I tried on several more pair, but his first suggestion was spot on and I just completed my second 4 mile moderate hike. Highly recommend this REI.

Honestly couldnt ask a better staff. The kind of people you want to compare battle scars and fishermans tale with over a campfire and a couple of beers... or whatever else it is outdoorsy people do.You are all wonderful. Keep it up!

First time mountain bike owner and decided I was going to paint the frame and I needed help removing some items. Very friendly and knowledgeable service. I will drive 15 minutes out of my to continue visiting for my bicycle shop needs.

The staff was horrible.I have a health condition caused by my time in Iraq, I informed the store manager & he attempted to sneer at me about it. I wont go back to this location.

Go see Kristen! She knows her stuff inside and out. She spent an hour and a half with my husband and I to fit us for backpacks and show us all the features, and they dont even work on commission! Whatever they are paying her, its not enough. We will be back to see her for sure.

Took my Trek MTB to REI bike shop and had incredible service particularly from Darrin.Highly knowledgeable, he gave incredible attention to detail and really went out of his way to resolve the issue with my brakes.Will only every recommend REI Northlake to friends and wouldnt consider going anywhere else for my biking needs. 10/10!! Very good customer service!Called me the next day to let me know I didnt need the tune up and informed me about brake pads I knew were bad. They offered to keep my bike one more day and replace the pads for a decent price. Thought I was gonna pay 105, but ended up paying 45!Be warned there is a customer limit so you may have to wait outside a few minutes.

OMG I live this place. If you like outdoor activities you have to shop here. The staff are amazing and they have everything youd need for any outdoor adventure.Today I bought a few MTB accessories which are hard to come by now a days.

The bike shop in REI is helpful and reasonably priced for maintenance work. They were happy to answer my dumb questions and only upsold me when they thought it would help without any pressure to buy.

Can’t say enough great things about this place. The staff is incredible. Knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The classes are very informative also. Definitely sign up for the membership. It’ll pay for itself after the first members garage sale. And the most admiral aspect of this company is how they stand behind the products they sell.

Worst staff ever - I used to spend thousands of dollars here but not a dime more. Staff was really mean and disrespectful to my little girl for not wearing a face mask -

I was in at Christmas shopping for my wife. I was in the store shortly after opening so there’s were not to many customers in the store, but plenty of staff. I went to the women’s section but felt as if I was in a foreign land. I looked around for someone to help, but nobody was to be found. Another woman shopping in the section needed the dressing room opened, so she had to push the call button. A staff member showed up opened the door, and then left. I made plenty of commotion and spoke clearly to the staff member that then ignored me, did absolutely nothing to help, or get other staff. I then went to the front of the store to get a staff member to no avail. I found three staff members standing at the registers, I said to them “I guess nobody wants to work today?” One staff member turned to me and said “nope” then turned his back to me. I then found the manager, she did nothing to help. Not only was she not helpful but then told me I should leave the store. I help, nothing. I’ve been in the store since then, hoping that maybe it was a fluke. It was not. The only person that I spoke with the second time said he remembered me from the last time and became incredibly rude and said he was one of the individuals as the registers and chose not to help. I have reached out to the district manager and corporate, I have not heard anything. REI once upon a time was a great company that cared about helping its members, they tried to keep the stores with a wide variety of gear to assist you with whatever is needed. Now the store is no different than a Big 5 or Dick’s. Don’t waste your money with REI anymore, they are almost always more expensive and you can get better gear from any number of vendors that actual want your business. Just to add I have been a member for 20 years and my father before me a member as long as I can remember. This is no longer the company I grew up with.

I have been to several REI stores on the east coast. This store has great sales associates. I have had the best experiences with the knowledgeable, helpful, sincere staff, especially in the hiking shoe department. These guys know their gear. You can buy your gear in confidence.

Darrin and Carena were so helpful with my purchases today. They were so kind and patient with all of my questions .I stopped by REI last week. and Caleb and Mike were also helpful in my search for a bike rack. They really know the products that they sell at REI.The employees at REI display excellent teamwork!!!!

Last night we came in not looking for anything in particular but had a $20 off coupon that would run out that day, we were approached by an employee Matt who went above and beyond to help us find something we needed. As its hard to find something we dont already have, he had a great sense of humor about it and was very knowledgeable about the products. He also made sure to tell us all about the sales coming up the 20% off and the garage sale. Makes you want to go back with great customer service like that - Thank you Matt!

(Update 2021: you know whats really amazing/pathetic? 4000+ have viewed this review and no response from REI.)My experience here, specifically with bike repair, has been absurd. I brought in my bike, and the technician told me that the bearings in my bottom bracket were shot, that the repair would be extensive - and expensive (Around $240) - and Id be better off buying a gold membership since many of the services required were covered under it. He then suggested the bike was in such bad condition he couldnt even release it to be ridden without repair. I took my bike home, looked up the parts and the repair process online, and $40 ($20 for the bracket, $20 for the tools) and one hour later had completed the job myself.This is the kind of unethical conduct, perpetrated by someone exploiting an information imbalance, that youd expect from a back alley car repair shop, not REI. I can get everything that store would like to sell me online for less, and without the side of dishonesty as well.

My girlfriend has to return some stuff and didnt have the receipt for one that she purchased on her account. The staff was very friendly and took their time helping her as they cleared things up. When she had a question about a bottle she wanted to purchase afterward, 3 employees came from all sides of the store to help. Pleasant atmosphere and cool gadgets for the outdoors at reasonable prices.

Great selection and the return policy is excellent although I rarely use it. Just knowing I have a retailer that is out to make sure Im satisfied makes me buy more stuff though. I still hit up the bike shops for my major cycling gear but I buy energy bars, clothing from here. Ive also purchased all my fitness trackers from here as they usually one of the first places to get the new products in stock.Staff is excellent and willing to help you find the right item for you.

Great location for an REI outlet. Love this store and the variety of gear they have. Almost anything one might need. Only issue is that it can be a little tricky getting into the parking lot. Other than that great store and fantastic customer service.

I came in there to get myself a backpack for small multi-day trips. Didnt really know what I was looking for at all, I just knew it needed to fit my 67 frame. Bryan went above and beyond in helping me finally seal the deal on an Osprey pack. He was exceptionally knowledgeable about the packs in the store. Great store and great employees! I will be returning here whenever I am home and in need of gear!

Couldnt ask for better customer service here. Friendly and knowledgable staff make the shopping experience a breeze. The quality and selection of their products are great and if they dont have it in the store they are more than happy to order it for you and have it sent to your house. Shipping is usually free and orders come quick.

Super Staff -They answered all the questions I had concerning new hiking shoes!They were patient, and informative.I didnt sense any frustration, or hurried anxiety from the staff.I settled on a pair, and have nothing but good things to say about my choice. I may have paid a bit more than online, but the help I received was worth the few extra dollars.Another note - It is a great store to just walk around in, and look at things - You might find something you didnt even know you needed!

Very helpful staff! They are composed of people experienced with camping (or other outdoor activity), so you benefit from their expertise!I had 30 different items I needed to buy for my daughters camping trip and I was helped with everything. The prices are a little higher than Amazon, but they have a great return policy on most items, where if they tear or break within a year, they will replace it (with lifetime membership of $20 or email that receipt).

Dont blame covid-19 not letting people shop in your store.

This is a big box store with a lot of different areas of sporting equipment. Items include clothing kayaks skis shoes Electronics camping equipment and food items. They have a book section with Trail guides and such anything that you would want in Sporting Goods they will have something available. On our latest shopping trip the staff was helpful he helped us to find what we were looking for and they had the item in stock. Check out was fast and we also had a coupon which added to the value of what we bought.

Jen helped my gf and I for over 2hrs choosing a pack for our up coming trip to AZ. Couldn’t have asked for better service. I recommend coming here over just ordering what has good reviews online. Everyone is built differently and some manufacturers may fit better than other.

Wide selection of outdoor equipment for sure. Staff is knowledgeable and patient. Went in seeking to narrow the Pack choices some and I believe I may have actually found a Gregory with everything Im wanting from my dream pack.

They are not and will not be open at 9 am at any time. 10 am. Both their website and paper on their window say 9 am. It is wrong.

I can only rave about the staff here. Ive invested in both bike racks and various other cycling gear such as a camelbak. The staff are always so friendly and helpful in making decisions. When I bought my bike rack they even helped me carry it to my car. Really great people here.

I love this store. The sales guy was super helpful, and the vibe here is really relaxed and fun.

The staff is always nearby and offering to help with any questions you might have. Every item has multiple brand options to choose from. And I love that you can try things out in the store. They have a rock fixture for testing hiking boots and a raised platform for testing sleeping bags and pads, for example.

Very good selection of gear for outing. I can spend hours just looking around. The only downside for me is that they have limited selection of climbing gear. Varieties and sizes are limited. Also there are not many employees with climbing knowlwdge therefore you dont get a lot of help in clmbing section. I also wish they had more wide shoes/boots in stock.Updated...There is a guy who climbs and works here. He was very helpful helping me pick carabiners and a piece of static rope. The selection of climbing shoes and sizing are still poor, though. The good thing is REI website has very good selection of climbing shoes. So it is better to order a few different sized shoes and return those do not fit you well. And they are covered under REIs return policy.
