I should have followed my gut instinct and have taken my car at Holts instead of Alpha Transmission! I was swayed by the reviews. But beware this place is only interested in taking your hard earned money after that they will leave you with the same issues on your car and never look back. They gave me a bogus warranty on transmission rebuild. I took the car back twice and all Scott could say is I needed a tune up and it will fix the issue. I took it to Precision Tune and they said I didnt need a tune up and it will not fix the transmission issues. I called Scott and he said theres nothing more he could do with my car. My car was diagnosed by Holts Transmission and they confirmed that the transmission issue has not been taking care of and now I have to pay for another transmission work. My attorney advised me to dispute the charges or go to small claims court! Save yourselves the headaches and dont take your car there........

On Wednesday, my cars shifter was stuck in park but the car was acting like it was in neutral. My dad called up Alpha Transmission a few minutes after they closed and Scott answered the phone. He told us that it sounded like the shifter cable was broken. He said that it could be towed in the next morning at 8am (Thursday). My car was towed and the shifter cable replaced. It ready on Friday afternoon, which was a really great turnaround time especially considering I do need my car to get to and from work. When I picked it up, he told me that the shifter cable can be damaged from drinks spilling down from the center console, which made sense to me and was a great thing to know for the future. I really appreciate the fast turnaround and great service. Thanks

Very pleased with transmission rebuild. When picking up my truck, Sean overheard me telling Scott about an engine issue Id been having. Id thrown several hundred dollars at it to no avail. Sean suggested it was likely a simple wiring issue with the plug to the MAP sensor. He was right! $20 fix. Above and beyond!

My daughter and I started having problems with her car on the road. We called every ford dealer in Charleston for service and all of them were two weeks behind. I got Alpha Trans number from Firestone. We drove back and Scott came out of the shop, right then drove my daughters car and knew exactly what it was. I thought the trans was out but it was a tire sensor was out! He ordered it right then and the car was ready within the hour! I was very impressed and I will be referring him for sure!!

I was down in Charlesto/folly Beach gigging when my transmissions throwout bearing decided to die. I contacted Scott and Alpha Transmission after reading these reviews and asking some local guys about shops in town. I heard nothing but great things about this business and the owner.I contacted him via email and he replied quickly. I mentioned that I needed to get back home to western NC Monday if possible. This was late on a Friday afternoon. I had my insurance company tow the car to his shop saturday and I got a rental.He installed a new clutch kit Thats following Monday and had me ready to head out of town by 4 pm that day. I really appreciate him knowing I was in a bind and from out of town. His price was competitive for the quick repair and quality job. I highly, highly recommend Scott and his Shop to anyone in that part of SC!As a side note, the clutch shifts better than it did when it was new, 150,000 miles ago.

I highly recommend Alpha Transmission. They were the only transmission shop I went to (after visiting 3 others) that actually test drove my car, and they test drove it with me! Their prices were reasonable and after my husband and I discussed it, we chose to have our repair at this facility. We were happy with the staff, the prices, and the warranty. Since I moved to Charleston, less than 2 months ago, I wanted to buy a used car. Mr. Moody helped me in the process, by making an inspection of one car I was interested in, and by fixing small things in the car I ended up buying. Mr Moody is skillful, receptive and trustworthy. Alpha Transmission staff were friendly and gave me three options to choose from. The transmission on my Wrangler (68K miles) went out and they were almost $3K cheaper then the dealership. They were not able to rebuild due to the damage on the original trans. They ordered the replacement on Monday, received it Friday Morning and I was driving it home that afternoon. They stuck to their quote and discounted the price to ensure it didn’t go over the quoted price. I would definitely recommend!

After a truly terrible string of events ending in towing our 2001 Jeep Cherokee from Daytona to Charleston in the snow, Scott helped us unload our car from the hitch and started to work almost immediately.The pricing was fair and honest. They were not looking for things to fix that were not broken - and even gave us a suggestion on where to get a cheap part so we could fix something ourselves.We had to get our transmission rebuilt (not surprising as the previous owners had not taken great care) and it was done quickly and came with an excellent warranty.Being new to the area we are so relieved to find a mechanic we can trust. I have a Cadillac CTS. I called Baker Cadillac and they told me could take up to TWO WEEKS to get my transmission fixed and couldnt see me for another week?? I googled and found this online. From reading the reviews online, I decided to try this place. Not only could I bring it in next day but, they were able to fix it SAME DAY. Ron also called Cadillac to see what labor would cost with them and was able to save me 180.00 on labor. I will definitely use this place again!!

I took my car in to get a clutch replacement, and came back after about 2 months because there was a grinding sound every time I engaged the gear. They replaced the clutch on warranty for free, but one week later I took it to the dealership because of a burning smell, where they found out that the rear axle wasnt reinstalled correctly, and it was causing transmission fluid to leak. In all, they seem honest and like they do a decent job, but saving a few hundred dollars isnt worth the hassle.

I drive for uber so something is always happening to my car. Alpha transmission is that sort of place you want to keep a secret because they are quick and always know what the problem is. They never have to guess. Which I was getting sick of hearing at other places. Also You CAN NOT beat the prices they give you. Trust me my wife calls around. Now when they tell us how much she never checks anymore haha. If you want REAL mechanics come here. They have done everything to my car from transmission to oil changes. These guys are the real deal and have amazing customer service. I dont know what our family would of done without these guys! So thank you!

These guys are awesome. My 81 CJ7 had multiple leaks from the rear main seal, valve cover, and gaskets, oil filter, transfer case, etc. They went over the entire drivetrain and sealed it back up. The price of the service was very reasonable and they even offered to replace my valve covers at no cost if I brought in the new ones. It was awesome service and they didnt keep me in the dark on updates and what needed to be done. I will always be going to these guys.

After driving down to Charleston to visit my sister I had some unexpected issues with my truck. Since Im not from around here finding a good trustworthy mechanic was something I was concerned about. I called around to about 5 different shops and checked in on reviews and pricing. Mr. Moody the owner of the shop gave me the best price right up front compared to all the other places and also made it work to fit me in immediately so that I wasnt stranded in Charleston any longer then a few hours. Very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable which are all qualities that i was looking for. He did the repairs in a timely matter with brand new OEM parts, and best of all he stands behind his work. I would highly recommend them for any transmissions issues you may be having. An employee of this business ripped off a friend of mine. She took her truck in their for repairs and was given a high estimate so ended up selling the truck to him. He turned back the odometer And try to sellit for 4 times the amount. Once he was caught the owner of this company try to cover it up for him theyre all crooks steer clear!

About a month ago the transmission in my 1996 Dodge Dakota truck decided not to work so I looked around online to nearby transmission shops and Alpha had some promising reviews so I figured Id try the one others liked since I know nothing about transmission work. The man in the office named Justin was very helpful as far as calling someone to tow my truck from my house to the shop. The tow man came right away, and shortly after Justin called me to tell me about their free diagnosis and was very honest with what had to be done in order for my truck to be running right again. At the time I was not able to pay for the entire work that needed to be done but he was nice enough to hold my truck at the shop for almost THREE WEEKS with no storage fee until I could pay in full. Plus they didnt charge me for towing because I was in a financial bind. So nice!! Now my truck is running perfect and I am so so happy and I truly believe this shop is honest, trustworthy, and pretty damn good at what they do. Thanks Justin and all the mechanics at Alpha! OMG, I had some serious issues with my car 2weeks ago...and after going place to place and spend hundreds of dollars that i wasnt expecting to spend all over Charleston. I find out all they spent doing was jerking me around and fixing parts that didnt even need to be touched. Finally, I spoke to a friend who works in the car business about my car issues and referred me to someone he personally had gone to for his car issues. Long story short, this place was AWESOME they LISTEN to me and my issues, check out my car and diagnose the issue gave me a AWESOME deal on price and told me before hand, unlike, some places and didnt beat around the bush in getting it done either. This guy was really Honest he wasnt out to rip me off and wasnt there to waste his nor my time. I will never go anywhere else.
