My first time here and I really liked it! Everything was spaced nicely, easy to move around and shop, clean. The employees were friendly and helpful. I was happy to purchase something and will be back!
Ive shopped here for many years, even before the name change and move to the current location. The employees are always cordial and helpful when needed. I appreciate that I can come and look at the variety of offerings. They offer basic clothing, shoes and accessories as well as certain designer items as consigned. They have jewelry from costume to estate acquired consigned items. Household items including dishes, pictures, light fixtures and lamps as they are consigned.
Great finds! Largest selection in Charleston. Items are priced very reasonably. The store is clean and well organized.Look for ones with lowered prices on the date tags.Super friendly and helpful. One of the staff even helped me search all over for an art piece I had seen on a previous visit.I will be back, often.
Would give this place negative stars if I could. Haven’t been able to find anything worth purchasing recently and since the masks have been a thing, the owner has used it as more of a power trip than a safety precaution. She will condescend to you and hurl insults at you at the drop of a hat. This business is going down, and the owner is sinking her own ship.Shop local, but not here. Take your consignments elsewhere.
I saw all the negative reviews and thought no business can be this bad. Let me tell you. this places is that bad. I experienced it myself when my wife needed help to deliver there and I saw the horrible customer service first hand with my only visit. I was literally 30 feet from the building in the parking lot when I was yelled at you got to wear a mask. Really, maybe wait till I get to the door and suggest I wear a mask might have been a better customer focused method of communication. And, to top it off. My wife leaves completely up set with how she was treated merely trying to pick up a purchase she had bought the day before. Folks. Consign Charleston is horrible. Dont go there. I wonder who realy owns this place...really!
This is a really nice store full of great merchandise. I cant say I wasnt warned by the other reviews about the staff. They are not friendly or helpful. I felt like I was bothering the cashier when she had to cash me out. REALLY??? Its your job. I would think by now management would see all the negative reviews and try to do something about it. It hurts your business.
I entered this business on 9/17/21 and upon entering, a very RUDE women screams do you have a mask? I answered that I do not and why do I need one since there currently is not any federal or state madates requiring that I wear a mask. She respond, that this is her store and that I need to put on a mask if I wish to shop in her store. My response wasnt the nicest but she asked for it! Her next response was, well we can tell whom you affiliate with politically. What a rude B!
I used to love this place but I wont go back again. The owner is kinda curt but ive gotten used to it, however the last time I went another rep was rude. I asked to plug in a lamp and the associate at the counter said yeah you can over there. And waved her hand in a general direction. I said over there where she waved her hand in direction again and said at the pole. I said please be more specific theres a few poles. She said I dont have time to help you i gotta do this! (Which was her stamping their logo on plain paper bags) I said, you have to stamp bags? To which she replied yep!I laid my selections on the counter and left.
Dont go. They are mask Nazis and yell at you as you walk in. I just turned around and left. Went a few doors down to El Malino. A fabulous find! Fresh tacos and an ice cream and sorbets section. El Molino got my money!
While the shop has a decent selection, I found the customer service to be lacking. Regardless of a situation, I never expected to hear the owner resort to hurling insults at a customer. I’m moving forward, I will patronize other consignment shops in/around Charleston.
Great reputable, local, well run business.Very highly recommendedable
Just went in- usually about every 2 weeks. Asked to leave. They are now medical experts requiring masks. To bad they didn’t stick to consignments- they just lost a regular customer. I’ll call to have my check mailed. I will not return.
Really cool finds but the staff was very rude :( I’d just go to goodwill if are trying to find cool stuff, this place is not worth the people who work there. Maybe the owner could train their employees how to be kind?
Went here for the first time yesterday and was a bit worried based on the reviews about customer service. All I can say is the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had to ask the price for an item in the case at checkout and the clerk was more than happy to walk back with us and help us out. They have a nice assortment of items (furniture, art, clothing, jewelry etc), we found some cool vintage books an original signed Salvador Dali etching hidden in a stack of cheap frames. We plan to return!
I have never encountered more rude people in my life! Several employees shouted at me “you have to wear a mask”, once I walked in the door. I have been fully immunized and the mask ordinance has been lifted. I explained to them “I have been been fully immunized.” They then proceeded to yell “ This store is privately owned and this is OUR rule!” I did comply by wearing my mask, so that I would not be humiliated any longer. They then proceeded to chant “GIVE ME A M, GIVE ME A A, GIVE ME A S, GIVE ME A K, WHAT’S THAT SPELL? MASK!!!!!!Trust me, I will never step foot in this store again.
The best consignment store in Charleston. Fair prices, amazing finds. Reader beware: nearly all of the bad reviews are from disgruntled customers who are too busy and entitled to read the store policies or consignment contract. Seana and her staff are extremely knowledgeable and kind. Believe me when I say they’re doing something right considering there’s always a steady influx of items, shoppers, and consignors. I can’t help but wonder - if this wasn’t a woman-owned business, would people still have such awful things to say? I’ve been in the store on more than one occasion where someone has treated them terribly and let’s just say the customer isn’t always right.
Worst Place Ever!! I am a person that RARELY leaves reviews. I generally overlook most peoples “idiosyncrasies” or give people the benefit of the doubt of having a bad day etc. However, the experience I had at this store was beyond the worst experience ever and warranted a review so as to protect other consumers. The management and staff were so incredibly rude and condescending that their is not enough time or space here to espouse the incendiary or vitriolic rhetoric used in the exchange over a purchase THEY KNEW I MADE. I almost had to call the police to get the item I PURCHASED out of the store. I will NEVER step inside this store again. BUYERS BEWARE!!!!
Clean & organized store. Good quality & selection of merchandise. A must visit consignment store!
Although I like this store, I sincerely feel that the level of customer service needs a lot of improvement. The personalities of the cashiers needs extreme improvement. I had to actually tell one of the cashiers that her disposition was very unkind. She looked very surprised when I told her that and she tried to improve. The issue is, I should not have to tell a cashier that she was unkind. Any human being that is capable of operating a cash till knows when their disposition is rotten. I guess they expect certain people to accept a rotten attitude. It wont happen on my watch. You will display kindness toward me or I will leave you alone indefinitely....How much profit can a business incur if there are no customers?
Owner DEMEANOR is customer service oriented truly appreciate.that
Still requiring face masks even if you have had your shots. Never will get any of my business.
I found the cashier to be rude and arrogant. I also noticed her ordering one of the workers around like she was above it all. I wish I caught her name, tall women with brown hair, cut in a cute bob.
Repeat customer. Easy to get to. Free parking upfront. Items turn over so visit regularly.
Very well organized store. Not cluttered like so many consignment stores are. Unfortunately staff was very short and not friendly at all.
Required mask even tho we had the vaccine, wouldnt go, covid is done and these are the types of people keeping it going. Wont be shopping here and I dont recommend it have a nice day except the people who enforce the mask :D
Lots of unique pieces that will go quickly. Its really not junk theres a lot of nice things in the store that people are trying to sell and at good prices. If you see it I suggest getting it because it wont be there when you go back.
The customer service there is horrible. The lady working the cash register with a short brown hair is very very very disrespectful, I will never go there again.
Unique clothing and accessories!! Excellent customer service!! Whenever we are in Charleston we have to come here!! Love it!!!
I love the prices and love the designer clothes that are perfect for mmt taste in classic clothing, great fabrics, and beautiful conservative colors.I always find what I love
Nice place. Bought a few pieces of jewerly.Woman who checked me out was so uptight with no personality. I may not go back. She did not appreciate my businessLots of other places to explore👩🎤🤘
Not impressed with the experience. Don’t recommend
This store is unbelievable. It has quality, quality, quality everything from way back when. Will fill my home with the furniture.
I needed information about two pieces of furniture that I was very interested in. One didnt have a price on it, although it was on the floor and the other had a mattress that I couldnt get an answer to if it was included. No one at the store had an answers because the owner wasnt there. I left my phone number.... Five days later, still no call. I guess they dont need my business. I wonder if they need yours.
Worst customer service ever. Never seen people so rude
Go and find great buys, high end must haves...very affordable 💮
Nice place. Little high on prices but nice stuff
The Hallie Hill family LOVES Consign Charleston! They are such great animal lovers, and we admire how much they do for the community. Their generosity means so much. Thank you, Consign Charleston!
I purchase and Consign there. Clean, high quality offerings and terrific friendly, helpful staff. My favorite place to shop.
Big store, well organized, clean and doesnt smell funky. They have a Boutique within the store for their high end apparel. Really is no reason to buy clothes retail!
I am new to the area and I have already been here twice. I didnt notice any funny smell either time that I went.I appreciate the fact that the employees seem to keep pretty busy and dont bother me while I browse and they dont follow me around the store. I can find someone quickly if needed. They have nice, clean merchandise and they have couture and casual clothing, purses, and shoes. They dont take electronics, baby clothes, or toys. That seems to help them focus on the clothes and furniture. When I left the store I realized that I spent about half of what I thought I was going to on some cute, name brand clothing. If they arent sold after a certain amount of time they are reduced! what a nice surprise! One dress was 100% silk which I love!I cant wait to go back and find some goodies! Consigning things with them is easy as cake.
This is a treasure trove. The staff is friendly and helpful. They dont interfere with you, its definitely not like a lot of stores that try to get you to buy something NOW? Yet they are in the background to assist if required. The items are reasonably priced and new items keep turning up. I really like the store and staff, thats why I keep going back!!!
Always new things to find here. Inventory moves fast so you can always check back.
Great selection ic almost everything!
LOVE this place! I consign and buy from there regularly. The owner is so nice and she always remembers my name. Fun place to hunt treasures. Highly recommend shopping and consigning there.
Consign Charleston is a great place to go and find some really cool things had a great price. I picked up some cool collectibles there and on occasion have found some great name brand shirts for good price. The staff is always friendly the hours are good and I enjoy going there at least once or twice a month.
Wow totally unbelievable I can’t even begin to share what happened to me and this establishment. So let me go ahead and tell you my story. As we have been through this pandemic I’m a hairdresser getting ready to go back to work I am ready to work Monday I’ve been out of employment for seven weeks excited decided that I could spend a little bit of money on myself I just wanted a couple outfits to start new . I bought four items at $66.81. After paying for my merchandise I realize my keys were missing. No in the presence of excitement I’m going back to work I truly a believed that I might have locked my keys in the car looked around couldn’t find them now please remember I’ve already paid for my merchandise. I went back to the front desk and I did not even have my cell phone it was in my vehicle needing assistance to call a locksmith. No one would help me they made me stand there I actually had to ask a stranger if I might borrow their phone to find a locksmith finally Misty thought she would assist me WITHOUT heart or customer service if I could photo the time of purchase to the time I got home I surely would like that however with moving on she finally helps me and gives me a number to a locksmith now they need an address she wouldn’t even help me get the address so that I can get the people to find me she finally gives me a card that allows me To provide this for the company to come and get me into my car. Oh it gets better now I am outside waiting by my vehicle 40 minutes nobody shows another stranger please hear me a stranger in the parking lot more than three assist me to now call another company and please give it five stars POP A LOCK shows OK let’s talk about timeline I’ve been outside in the sun and the heat by my car for over an hour please remember I just purchased $66.81 from this place we open my car add another $62 my keys are not there he helps me we look I have a little tiny Mazda Miata really easy to see were keys might be right?? OMG I walked back in the store and there are my keys on the front desk please let me ask a question if I might do you mean you let me stand outside the whole time over an hour let’s see my ticket says checkout time 11:41 AM and I didn’t get home till 2:30 PM as I live 15 minutes away I wonder how many people lost their keys that day what?? Do you mean that you couldn’t Come outside give me my keys as someone return them actually when I walked in there was no one at the front desk and there they were sitting right there on the other side of the register where you can clearly see that someone return them they made me stand outside in the heat without assistance will not assist me after paying money and this establishment I will never ever recommend them or come back wow complete wow
Great deals, friendly staff. Love shopping here. Cant wait for all the new items to come in for another treasure hunt. They offer layaway.Highly recommend.
I am a regular fan. Love to shop they have great furniture, clothes, & accessories.
I am a regular shopper at CC, not a dealer. From my perspective, I usually find something unique, at a good price at least once a week. Sure there are many times when I leave empty-handed, but that is a reflection of the merchandise, not the personnel. I have always found the cashiers and clerks helpful and attentive, and the goods are displayed in an orderly and accessible way. I continue to recommend CC to my friends for a fun time!
A fair price for selling my goods in a store. It costs money to run a business. However, to give my things away with NO CALL. And, they ripped me off real good. Do NOT use them to sell anything!
I went to this store early in the day and spotted a guitar. I didnt have my phone with me to take a picture. My husband collects vintage guitars and I know nothing about them. I had an appointment at six that ended early and I was able to get back to the store at 6:34 pm only to be told that the store was closed even though the sign clearly said they were open until 7 pm. I had researched the hours before I attempted to make it to the store before closing. I drove quite a distance to get there (from Johns Island). The store employee could not have cared less. He very reluctantly, after begging, let me in to snap a quick picture. On the way out I told him I would never be back and I wont. I have consigned there before and that experience was not what I expected either. Truly, I will never walk through the doors of their store for any reason. I will not let rude people take my hard earned money. Hmm, wonder why brick and mortar stores are disappearing?
I have been in the store several times. The service and merchandise has beengreat. Their store in Columbia is also nice. Cant think of the name right now.Sorry.Its good to see a little better quality of clothes but not so expensive that you mayas well not go there. Also, dont disregard the price tag. Learn how to read them. The price is alwayscorrect if you take the time reading them.Dont understand the criticisms on here. Also would be nice to have the hours of operation and consignments on here.
My favorite consignment store is Consign Charleston. I have loved them since their first store. I saw the rest and found the best. Yall know I love you. They have the merchandise, the good prices, and the people you just have to see. Shop, consign, and do layaway.Hey, I dont review just anybodys store.
I thoroughly enjoy both shopping and consigning here. The prices I find while shopping are great and when I consign things I usually end up spending my proceeds on buying more things! Drop n Run Thursdays are my favorite, hands-down. I love the ease of process and enjoyment in shopping here on a regular basis. You never know what you might find!
This is a great place to shop and find those unexpected hidden gems!. You have to come on a regular basis because as quickly as items come in they go out. I have always found the employees are super friendly and helpful. This is a must shop for furniture, clothes, household goods, jewelry, and those unexpected items that you didnt know you really needed until you saw them there. Make sure to make this a weekly stop on your shopping excursions. You will not be disappointed. I almost forgot this, you can also consign with them the items that you dont want or need to declutter your house. I will tell you they are very picky about what they take because they will not take junk.
I didnt find anything during my visit, but the store is spacious with a little bit of everything, so lots to look at. Staff greeted me when I came in and was very friendly. Ill definitely go back.
So it appears that Consign Charleston and its employees make the reviews here (cute) because on every other review site they get horrible marks, with good reason. So here it goes! God if ONLY I could rate this s*** hole with less stars. Let me start this out by saying I work in retail management and I have never seen such a horrifying display of customer service in my entire career. My fiance and I were shopping here looking to furnish our recently purchased home. He was checking out an old storage trunk and went to open it to check out the condition of the inside when the unsecured glass top slid off and shattered, a surprise seeing that there was no do not open sign anywhere and the trunk itself wasnt locked. Being that we are good people and have shopped there before we agreed to pay to replace the glass top ($55) but not after one of the employees said that we would potentially have to pay full price for the item ($1200), yeah not going to happen especially considering that an accidental damage like this is covered under THEIR insurance and we legally didnt have to pay to replace the glass in the first place. Not only did no one bother to ask if we were okay after being stuck surrounded by broken glass, but they demanded that they get a copy of his licence and credit card information (which by the way is ILLEGAL). When the glass was ready from the shop (two blocks away from Consign Charleston) my fiance called to see if they would be able to pick it up since we live 45 minutes away and he was stuck working overtime. The woman of the phone promptly told him that he could have been half way (to the shop) already if hed stop complaining, and then threatened to charge his credit card if he didnt get it delivered that same day. I have since tried to get in contact with the manager twice since this has happened so we could rectify the issue, and both times I was told that she was not there and that Id have to come back later (I had to pry information for a name and time when shed be there). Im very happy to have experienced this before we made any major buys from them, and I hope that they are very happy with the $55 glass top and not the $9,600+ weve spent on furnishings at their competitors shops since this incident.
Selection isnt as plentiful as a few years ago. Seems as though they had a change in management. Staff is a lot friendlier nowadays.
Very nice place.
I honestly dont know how they stay in business considering how poorly they treat their customers. The owner must have a knack for finding the most unpleasant people around to hire as staff. Or perhaps the owner treats them as poorly as they treat the customers and they are merely passing along the unpleasantness. After years of shopping here and dismissing rudeness and a lack of customer service, today was the final straw. I will never spend another dollar in that store. I would rather spend more money elsewhere knowing that Im not helping to keep this miserable place in business.
Great finds and great deals
Taking your clothes here is a waste. Good for shopping, prices are mostly fair. Bad customer service at times.
Horrible!!!! The stuff is rude and unfriendly!!! Never coming again!!!!
Not a bad store but you have to be careful about what you buy. Some prices are good but other prices not so much. I can get better prices on identical new items elsewhere so why would I pay more for used? They tend to price rather high, but if you can catch one of their tag deals you could do well.
Most retail businesses try to help you, but this doesnt seem to be the case at Consign Charleston. I bought three small metal tables, but the woman who appeared to be in charge told the staff not to help me with getting these into my car. They werent heavy but they were awkward. Finally one of the other ladies came out and assisted me, but Ive never had a retail business treat me like this before. This was my first time in the store. They have some interesting items, but I think they could be more helpful to customers. So you better come prepared to move whatever it is by yourself.
Went in on a Monday morning, staff to busy to help, checking in items is more important than helping a customer, owner extremely rude and disrespectful .. I was looking at their expensive brand purses, a lot of the items woren, marked up and scuffed up but your asking 80.00 or above for used name brand purses .. I will never return ..
Cook nice stuff. Not as much man stuff as i woukd like. But still cool. Nice shoes.
I usually go once a week and never have been disappointed, always find something nice to buy. Its full of nice stuffs and the staffs are great.
Pros: They have a great selection of high end, designer items. Whether you are looking for Tory Burch shoes or a Chloe handbag, you will find it here. Prices are about the same or a little higher than what you would pay on PoshMark or a similar high end resale site. If you’re looking for items you can resale for a profit, this isn’t the place to go. Cons: For the most part, anything higher end is locked up and at least the day I went there, there was only one person working and It took awhile to have one opened. The woman working seemed kind of pretentious and snooty as well.
While i have purchased some items in the past I quit coming because staff was always rude. Today i drove by and decided to stop by....Staff was rude, uneducated, and snobby. I inquired why a Free People dress was priced at $400, maybe it was limited edition or mis-priced, and staff with a snobby tone said the owner had been in this business for 17 years and she knew what she was doing. Then told me fortunately for me it was on sale for $300 as she laughed. The $400 free people dress wasnt the turn off, it was the staffs attitude.
I always find interesting items here.
It’s a pretty good place for 2nd hand things
Always interesting finds. Good window shopping with great deals.
BEWARE of consigning at this place. I sold allot of things and they did not pay me for everything. I want to sue. if you have had this experience also, lets open a civil case. It only cost about 80. divided by as many people we can get on board. Also, that owner does not treat people well. there is an old lady that works there that has been rude also. I have never seen this kind of unprofessional rudeness in Charleston . I have up North but not around here. I think this business success will be very short lived. There are some employees who are very nice though. There furniture is over priced for some old junk with a coat of flat paint on it, anybody can do that. And whats up with the gay parade at the consign counter? (just wondering)
It was fine, you may find something nice.
The owner was so rude, she told me not to come back! Like I would give her my money. There are people out there that appreciate the business. Hope you think twice about going there.
Good quality, would like to see it filled with more product.
Unbelievably, jaw-droppingly bad customer service, from the owner no less. They put up sale signs everywhere and do not explain until checkout that you must give a $10 donation to receive the sale price. This is mentioned nowhere on the sale signs. When I pointed out the folly of this, the owner loudly said that I am nagging her and generally insinuated that I was a bad person. This experience ruined my entire day. The owner pretends to be a wonderful, charitable person, but really does nothing more than spread bad cheer and negativity.
Love this store! Found a special gift for my friend Betty.
Even with signing papers about how this process worksA store that refuses to help customers is a bad storeI am applauded at how I was treatedNo matter what customers should receive help weather it’s getting their items or if things didn’t make senseTrying to find a pair of shoes they would have had to get me other shoe from the back anyway because they only keep one on the floor so they would have had to help but not 1, not 2 but 3 employees stepped back and said no I can’t help youNever again will I shop thereI will tell myFriends and co workers and family how rude I was treated and how much they do not deserve the customers because they can’t even respect one that they have in their store
Hostile and rigid with signs and rules everywhere. Consignment drop off dates and times are not adhered to. As a buyer my experiences are OK. As a seller I don’t feel respected.
Great pricing, which goes down 30% every 30 days. She has a great eye for fashion and this place has everything!
Wife enjoyed the shopping with excellent findings. Good for her!
Very nice furniture pieces and good selection of clothing.
I absolutely adore this store. Collectibles and kitchenware selection are amazing; however, the staff is not always pleasant.
Always enjoy my shopping here.Good deals and service.
Nice to see old pieces is such good shape.
I have been shopping and consigning at Consign Charleston since they opened back at theyre former location. Love the staff, owner and all the great things they have in the store. I recommend to everyone on Edisto.
Such a great concept. Such great items. The staff though😬🤔😬🤔I dont think I will be going back. They always act so rude and pretentious. Its a consignment store ladys. ...... Not studio 54. Not some exclusive boutique. A dirty warehouse feeling consignment store.
Lots of furniture and goodies to browse through
I will never shop or consign anything here again. If you are thinking of consigning anything here, RUN. Their pricing practices are abysmal at best. There are many other much more reputable consignment places in the Charleston area. Dont buy the convenience of the location.
This is my go-to place for buying mens clothing. The selection is varied and features many higher end brand names, like Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Bahama, Brooks Brothers, and Izod. Most of the items are in very good condition. Some even have the store tags on, showing that they havent been worn. The prices are excellent. No need to go to the mall and pay top dollar for clothes. The staff is friendly and helpful also, so I dont know where the negative reviews are coming from.Stop by and see for yourself.
The owner is in a few words, a horrible person and an even worse retailer. When we first found this place a year or so ago, there was an incredibly friendly staff working there. They’ve all since left which we could never understand. At some point, there was a sudden change and the owner became a regular fixture to the detriment of her business. She is literally a vicious, mean, and angry person. My family and extended family who all used to make Charleston Consign a weekly ritual will never put a penny in her or her equally ignorant farher’s Pockets. Too bad because at one tone we visited the place a couple times weekly. DONT. SHOP. HERE
Horrible horrible customer service! I went in to shop not consign. I was looking at a teak outdoor patio set. I could not find the price and it was wedged in between other pieces of furniture . I asked an associate for help and she says “I’m to busy right now” and walked away. I made my way to front desk and told the also rude person there that I needed help and perhaps she could help me or get someone to help me. I explained to her I asked the person on the floor and they were “too busy”. Her response “well maybe it hasn’t been priced yet”. I say how do you know if no one will help me. She shrugged and said “she did t have anyone to help me”. I left and they will NEVER get my business. Not to mention they had adidas brand clothing and shoes more expensive then you pay for it brand new right up the street at the adidas outlet!!!! IF you are consigning here and your stuff HASNT sold maybe you know why now!!!
I love going treasure hunting here, never walk out empty handed.
The worst experience of my life! I dont recommend anyone giving them any business. The employee or owner grabbed my cart while screaming at me for not following the arrows in the store. Didnt experience any southern hospitality thats for sure! Stay away!
I was standing outside of the store for a few minutes with my dog (german Shepard/service dog) waiting for my mother to finish shopping and come back outside onto the next store. The woman at the front looked back and forth at me a few times when finally she yelled “your dog can’t come in we have an aggressive one in here thanks” ?!?!?! I didn’t realize what had just happened at first because again; I had no intention of stepping foot inside so I answered “no big deal just waiting”. Thought about it for a minute then realized as rude as that was of her it is also illegal to deny any service animal. I am pretty sure she was the owner. I am disgusted.
Lots of great apparel, good buys, & friendly staff! Extra kudos for supporting Charleston Animal Society-- one of my favorite nonprofits! 😸🐕👚
My wife and I recently moved to Charleston, and we absolutely love this store, also you must try the chicken salad they sell, it is some of the best chicken salad anywhere........
Very reasonable quality finds.
