I think giving it a three is being generous. The taste is good but this isn’t a Cuban. They said they were out of the bread after I asked the girl if they always used this bread for the Cubans because it does not look like what they have in The pictures. It is also a little spicy, is not bad it’s just not a Cuban. They also don’t give you enough chips.
Such a great find! We stopped in for lunch and shared the Bee Street smoothie and the Italiano Sandwich. The portions were more than ample for sharing and the smoothie was delicious. Good blend of fruit and not too sweet, perfect on a hot day. We enjoyed sitting at the tables out front and watching the city. We would definitely come back!
The Pawlys crepe was amazing. The serving size just right. Also, loved the vinaigrette dressing for the salad. 🤩 Stopped there for lunch and that was a great decision. The staff was super friendly. Highly recommend.
Location was perfect for us while we were out for our morning walk. Like the ceramic mugs and self-serve coffee.
Best Ceasar salad Ive had in a long time. Chicken was excellent!
Awesome, quirky, deli, really. This place is off the beaten path, but worth finding. We went there on a recommendation of a friend and had really good Cubans. They have a big menu, with something for everyone.
Best crepe spot in town! Delicious sandwiches and a great outdoor space!
First time eating here and the food was delicious. Im from Jonesville, SC. I will definitely become a regular customer everytime we visit Charleston, SC.
I was exploring Charleston, looking for a lunch stop, and decided to stop by the Queen Street Grocery based on reviews. I was not disappointed.I couldnt make up my mind, but the very friendly staff was incredibly helpful. I ended up trying the Happy Houdini sandwich, St. Helena crepe, and Huger Street smoothie.Everything was delicious. I had to save my crepe for later, and it was still amazing. I will be back for sure the next time Im in Charleston.
Loved it. Fast service great food and drinks.
I dont know i never was there but Google wont stop asking me and it wont stop asking me questions about this place. So sure.... its amazing... next please
Some of my absolute favorite sandwiches in town! Always accommodating to switching up my order and very quick. I would recommend trying every menu item they have. Its a constant internal battle on what Im going to order each time! Plus a great selection of drinks in the cooler, and snacks and such in the back, especially if you live near by! Cant wait to eat inside again :) Thanks for always being there for us!
This place is absolutely 💯 a new favorite. My brother took me for a crepe. The most unique take on a crepe Ive ever had. I tried the Pawleys and added bacon. OMG Im hooked!!! It smells delicious when you walk in. Definitely going back!!! Also the customer service was very good!!
Amazing crepes! This is a very cool local place that everyone can find something delicious.
A great place for good crepes in Charleston. Cool vibe with great music. Has a small grocery but went there for the food scene...was NOT disappointed. Food was great and just the right portion. Savory and sweet available. Lot of variety on the menu. Price point is spot on. Off the beaten path and SO worth it.
Great staff, great crepes. The sandwiches look awesome. Excited to come back to try their other crepes
Love this place. The crepes are the best!
Visiting Charleston for the first time and went for a walk downtown. We stumbled upon Queen City Grocery and decided to stop for lunch. We are very glad that we did. If you love mushrooms, I highly recommend the Folly Crepe! Also check out the Huger Street Smoothie. Well be back a few more times before leaving town.
Delicious Cuban Sandwich. Special bread. Teeny tiny bathroom. Outdoor Window sills could use a scrubbing. Nice spot in the neighborhood to sit outside and watch the world pass by.
OMG!! Such a fantastic place! Staff went above and beyond. We got there just as they were taking in the outside seats to close. My husband, daughter and I were walking our way to the old jail for a tour. They made us sandwiches and let us sit out back while they closed. The food was some of the best Ive ever eaten. If ever in Charleston, I implore you to go visit this shop and have your lunch! We will be going back..a little earlier in the day though. 😊 Thank you so very much for being a rare gem!
Daughter took me for Fathers day. Great breakfast Great service
Good vibe and even better food/smoothies.
Happy people, yummy food and a great place to sit with my pup and have coffee. I love it here!
Little gems like this that make me regret not living downtown. Great craft beer selection. Pressed sandwiches are pretty freaking good - Italiano, Egypt or the Tuna are all great.
Cute little place and very helpful for directions when we were lost.
Love this place. Went for the Crepes and they were great! Service was amazing, such friendly and accommodating staff. Awesome coffee. Love the vibe of this little shop. Dont let the look fool you, it may be small, but its probably one of the best kept secrets in Charleston. Been visiting the city for over 10 years and never knew about the place. Ill be back!
Consistently Rude staff that’s unapologetic. Uncomfortably hot consistently. Out of a lot of menu items
No vegan options. Please update this ASAP!
We absolutely love the food, but there is no inside dining. The crowd and the wait are sometimes overwhelming.
Such a Quaint Breakfast Secret. Lil secret the Crepes are the BOMB
Food was great. Server had attitude but who doesnt these days
Very charming l neighborhood store and cafe. Lots of essentials. I love the crepes and the outside seating.
Fantastic little sandwich shop off the beaten path. Suggested by our carriage tour guide Scott. We had the Italiano and Cubano sandwiches. Both delicious! Highly recommend if youre visiting and looking for a good lunch spot!
Great ciabatta bread!
Queen Street Grocery on Queen Street is a great place to go for a sandwich, snack, or drink. I like the relaxed neighborhood atmosphere of this place and the choice of eating outside on a nice day. Everything here is delicious and well prepared. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating. This is also a good place to have a relaxed business meeting. I have had an excellent experience every time I have been here.
This place makes great sandwiches. In particular the top notch tuna. But be warned it is a bit expensive.
Watched as they made our salad with their bare hands, pulling lettuce from a bag and adding croutons etc. with no gloves in sight on any of the cooks. We used to love this place until we started paying attention to what was going on in the kitchen. Staff was polite enough in refunding us - Just wish they followed health code.
I picked up food for Postmates here and the cashier was BEYOND rude! She slammed the drink on the counter and apologized as if she didnt mean to. Then when I came back to check for the food she said it was being pulled off the grill when it was just sitting there already bagged. Moral of the story, people are real life mask bullies and its sad af! I will NEVER return back to this place.
Love this place! Get here before the rush. Lunch time is crazy. All walks of life come to this location! Why? Because its tasty! The menu is simple, they serve hot great chicken, chicken is what they do and you should order it! I either get the wing pack or strip dinner with extra g -sauce. The chicken is fresh and the spices on it are awesome! The rolls are buttered goodness. Go chicken is hands down my favorite fried chicken place.
I got a build your own salad and everything was very fresh and tasty. Also had their Cuban sandwich that was hot pressed, a little burnt on the press, but tasted very good and fresh also. I want to come back and try their crepes, they looked very good.
We give this tiny, quaint, interesting place three stars mostly for the nice staff. The food was not really much to speak about. The breakfast (BYO) sandwich had about the driest toast, without butter or any smooth addition to make it more palatable. There was no jelly, jam, preserves or honey offered or mentioned when ordering, and none delivered with the food. The omelette was the thinnest I have ever experienced, and thats not a compliment. Whip up those eggs, ladies; and make that omelette fluffier! How about delivering a knife with the toast and butter? I had to use my fork to spread the soft butter. We sat outside at one of the tiny sidewalk tables, which was a real wobbler. Dont put your elbows on the table and expect your food to stay on top. In my book, with the exception of the quaint neighborhood, this place was a thumbs-down joint. Oh, and dont even think about using the restroom. You have to walk through one of the dirtiest, dingiest storerooms I have seen in a restaurant in order to get to what qualifies as a true water closet. As my dad used to say about tight spaces, There wasnt even room to change your mind. The light over the sink was an uncovered bulb and it was out of order. How the citys health department could give this place a passing grade is beyond me.
My son and I visited Charleston last week and walked to the Queen Street Grocery several mornings for breakfast. The walk only whetted our appetites for their great tasting food. Oh yeah, and the hot coffee! While our taste buds savored our meal, our eyes enjoyed the decorated walls, and the total easy-going atmosphere of the place. We highly recommend it.
Overpriced, barely have any chips on the side.
Service was quick and the food was amazing!
The Tenacious Turkey is dangerous. TOO freaking good. As a matter of fact, I may have developed a mild addiction to it. But really, highly recommend. Great location, great food, friendly staff. I havent had a sandwich I did not love.
Being a pseudo resident of Charleston (own property and visit at least 1/month) I am always looking for new places to eat. Given the previous reviews I thought I’d stop by for a quick bite. The young lady who took my order was friendly. I ordered a breakfast sandwich (no bread though) so what I got was 1 egg scrambled with a slice of cheese folded into it and a slice of cooked ham and a very thin slice of orange. I had wanted an unsweet tea but they only sell bottled drinks (that aren’t coffee or smoothies). I picked out an 11.5 Oz Bai bubbles. (See pic below). After I paid and sat down I was looking at my change and saw that all I had left was $6 from a $20. (I tipped a single and whatever loose change I was given). After eating a nicely cooked but nothing special egg cheese and ham I went back to counter to question my bill. I was charged $8 for the egg “sandwich” and $3.75 for the Bai bubbles. My total was $12.72 after tax. I was shocked. After looking at the board for prices, the egg sandwich should have been $7 (which is high with no bread) but they have increased the price of their meat and the young lady behind the counter seemed flustered and said this is how it rings up and the board must be wrong. I questioned the price of the Bai, she agreed that it seemed like a lot as well but once again seemed at a loss as to why. No prices on the case that I saw.I know you can purchase a case of those Bai drinks for $17-$18 at Costco. So that’s one heck of a mark up.I will gladly pay higher prices for food if there is something special about the food or service or ambience (actually no A/C and it smelled like burnt toast inside). Sadly none of those applied to make a 1 egg and cheese plate with a slice of ham and small drink worth $13. I could have fed at least 4 people for that.I will not be returning. I’d recommend Cafe Framboise right around the corner.
The food was great! Had a salad and the Italiano sandwich. We are from the north and did not get that “southern hospitality” we were looking for. Rude staff that seemed like they didn’t want to be there.
Super cute old grocery turned cafe. Crepes were huge and amazing. Omelette was good. Basic coffee available. Not lattes or cappacino. Love the vibe with vintage music playing. Sidewalk dining available.
Really cute spot. Wish I saw it pre COVID-19. Good crepes. Would give it a 3.5 but rounding up.
Awesome spot!
Great crepes, sandwiches, and smoothies
Cute and unassuming, Queen Street Grocery is the corner store cafe everyone wants in their city. Ive been here several times now and tried a couple crepes (the St Helena is the perfect portion and combo of sweet and savory) as well as a salad. Everyone is friendly, service is quick and prices are reasonable. I will definitely be returning many times in the future.
Great breakfast place but recently they changed their croissants... these are no longer local bakery croissants from Normandy Farms/ Saffron Bakery/ Browns Court bakery but taste like the flavorless bread-like ones from Costco... disappointed and hope they change back... otherwise food and service are great. Tasty French toast, omelettes and crepes! Convenient walk to a lot of places downtown and friendly staff.
Second time to visit here. A must now every time were in Charleston. Best unique sandwiches, salads. Love eating outside. Everyone is friendly. Had a good laugh..hubby had to use the bathroom. Wont spoil the experience for others..just take my word. Lol😉
Yummy crepes... Enjoyed both sweet and savory
Farm to table place. Delicious breakfast sandwiches and crepes. It was so good, we went back the next morning! My wife got the yogurt parfait on our 2nd visit and loved it.They also have a good beer selection in the back if youre interested.
I love QSG! The Tenacious Turkey is my favorite; everything else is super delicious as well! The staff is alway courteous and friendly.
Best local shop in town if you ask me. The crepes are great and the rest of the menu is awesome too! Small grocery in the back has all the essentials you would need. I always swing through here when Im in town
Small corner cafe/sandwich/beer and wine/ grocery/organic type kind of thing going on. I dont have a label too put on it. GREAT sandwiches and smoothies. Definitely worth a go!
Tasty crepes and sammys! Great neighborhood spot.
The food is to die for, and it made me want to get one every day. But, I checked the hours that said its open from 8am-6pm and I called at 12. No answer and i called once more with no answer. Bad service. Will now eat some where else
I don’t need to explain why I gave this place 5 stars. One little tip is that there’s a cool little patio in the back not many know about.
Delicious! Sweet or savory, breakfast or lunch, excellent for whatever your mood! Downtown historic horsedrawn carriage tours are a great backdrop to this hidden treasure in the smack middle of downtown Charleston. Great place to fuel up and explore this beautiful city!
Great place an customer service. First tike going there an they have a great variety. Will be going again.
Excellent crêpes, terrible service. But everyone has bad days, right?
The food is absolutely delicious. The staff was polite and welcoming. Their smoothies are tasty. And the crepes have a gluten free option. All around awesome place.
Outstanding food and service. Ive done take out 3 times already for dinner while Ive been here. The food is fantastic, especially the savory crepes. Great selection of microbrews, wines and specialty sodas. Highly recommended.
Absolutely a cool place to come and sit down great atmosphere great people Andrea Lee really good damn sandwiches I mean it be cool if they could offer like some french fries or stuff like that but I understand its an organic place all about health and I am all about health. If youre hungry go by this place order some food its good
Loved their iced coffee and gluten free crepes. for those of us looking for gluten free goodies, i highly recommend. my husbands sandwich was good, not great. definitely recommend the crepes above all else
Local Favorite!! If you are shopping downtown I think this is the BEST place to take a detour to! Beautiful streets, awesome food, friendly staff! Little pricey but its well worth it!
My wife and I went to several fancy restaurants and more casual restaurants around the Charleston area for our anniversary in July. The Queen Street grocery was our favorite spot for food out of all of the restaurant we ate at. It is truly a local spot, and one that you have to go to if you are in the area. The crepes are delicious, and the whole place is kind of eclectic and feels old timey!
I had their signature Queen St Salad. Oh boy, I have never had fresher, creamier goat cheese!!!! It was like dessert. Quaint atmosphere, upbeat employees. It was great experience (Just visiting Charleston)
Cool little spot for breakfast/brunch in Downtown Charleston. Not for large groups though, small spot with not a lot of seating. But the food is great and the service was excellent.
Great paninis, excellent beer selection. Cant say enough about this place and the employees are so unbelievably friendly and courteous. Always a pleasure stopping by here.
Great food and easy going atmosphere. We were able to get a table when every other place had an hour plus wait on a Sunday.
Tiny, cute little bodega on Queen Street. Its a sandwich place with friendly staff that also sells wine and beer. Has very unique specials that always seem to sell out every day! This place is BOSS and you should definitely eat here :)
Eclectic environment gives this real character. Love their crepes! Awesome sandwiches too. Grab a sidewalk table and people watch or be watched as the horse carriages go by.
A funky local spot in Charleston! Everything Ive ordered has been delicious, but the murray crepe is what dreams are made of
Solid cubans
Great food. Yummy. Crepes, omelettes, sandwiches, coffee. Down home and relaxed. Dine in, outside in front, or out back in the backyard.
