Friendly staff, convenient location, decent coffee.Currently carryout only, which is fine. However they require all orders, even coffee, to be placed online--which is really inconvenient. I would prefer they had some take the order in person.Anyhow the menu looks pretty good so I look forward to checking it out when dining in resumes.

Halo is a favorite of mine. It was this hidden gem I found 6 years ago when I lived here, and now that I’m back in Charleston I couldn’t be happier to go back in there

Found this little gem right across from MUSC. Its as much a life saver as the hospital! The food here is great pub fare and there are only 6 beers on tap, they do not disappoint when it comes to quality and diversity. They have plenty more bottles and cans to pick from as well.The atmosphere is welcoming and has that old Towne feel. The view from the porch is great and the bartender was very friendly and didnt mind me chatting it up to get some history of the place.Locals obviously love this place, and if youre visiting, it is definitely a place you should stop in at for at least a pint and take in the surroundings.

Ive had breakfast, lunch, and dinner (happy hour) at this place. Absolutely nothing not to like. Great coffee, good beer, and food that will hit the spot. Another uniquely Charleston restaurant in an old uniquely Charleston home.

Wish the beer was cheaper. Its not a fancy atmosphere. A happy hour with good deals would make this place great. Is good for lunch though!

Worst place I have ever had breakfast downtown, the people who are preparing the food need to have their hair tied all the way back or wear a hair net. This prevents hair from being on the customers plate of food. After eating my first half of burnt toast with egg and bacon I saw the hair then. The bathrooms weren’t cleaned and the upstairs was very cold. I definitely won’t be coming back here again. The person making coffee didn’t do a good job with that either it was very strong with no sweeteners in it

In town for stressful child’s heart procedure. Nurses recommended Halo. Great small escape from the medical stuff. Food was excellent, staff attentive. Had an issue with order and they were fast and very eager to fix.

When I walked up I was greeted by one of the ladies working the smoker. She said hey sweetie how are you it made me feel like I was home or one of the family. I decided to get the lunch special which was a pork sandwich with fries and beans. The lady working the window was very nice and showed me my food before I paid.

This Halo is located inside MUSC. It is one of the Food court type food lines to choose from for a snack or a meal. I went to the fix your own salad bar and made very large salad that I got 2 meals out of, lunch and dinner. All of the items on the salad bar were fresh and tasted wonderful.

Good coffee, solid food. Also, theres always some special offering with the desserts.

Save your money & eat somewhere else.The Ruben sandwich is terrible. Not more than a spoon full of sourkraut, no cheese, not grilled. 1 - 10 it was a 2.Mahi sandwich was a 3. Way too expensive for that kind of food. Very disappointing.

Very good fresh made sandwiches on artisanal bread. Quirky place with upstairs seating, including an outdoor section. My tea was served incorrectly (16 oz. cup), and the place needs a deep clean (seating areas), so I hope they read this and take action.

Halo is such a great little place. Coffee, breakfast, lunch, a bar, they have it all. Food is always fresh and tasty. I highly recommend anything that comes on a pretzel roll, but you really cant go wrong there. Such a nice location as well!

Fantastic atmosphere, great food and great hours. Coffee is open late (til 6 pm) and the only place to get it after work if youre at MUSC. The Upstairs Bar starts serving alcohol at 3 and is a nice place to wind down if you get off work early or want to grab a snack. Excellent service, every time. They know all the customers by name. :)

I go to school at MUSC, so its very convenient. The food is always delicious and filling without being too much. The price is decent as well. I wish they had more seating (most tables upstairs are reserved for large parties which is inconvenient at lunchtime). All in all, will make this a regular part of my lunch rotation.

I dont come here often for lunch - when I do it is as a treat because it is slightly more than I want to pay. What I want to focus on is sitting upstairs in the afternoon. Happy hour at Halo is how I am staying sane and take breaks. It is a chance to sort out complicated problems over a variety of local beers. The staff are incredibly friendly even under the pressure of a full upstairs. It is a great environment, typically filled with a large number of happy smiling people. Give them your money - so we can have more beers, and more variety in the afternoon food.

I have come here numerous times in the evenings for happy hour, but today was my first lunch attempt. I went through the online order process three times before I could get the order submitted- each time I got an error that my browser was outdated- I have the recent versions of the major web browsers so I wasnt sure why there was difficulty. I tried my phone and laptop and finally got the order submitted via Internet Explorer, but it was a frustrating guess-and-check experience that significantly delayed my order placement.

Some wacky and friendly staff which gives the place character. Always the best place on this part of the peninsula to get a sandwich/taco and a beer after work (during the longest happy hour I have seen) or start the MUSC workday with some coffee and some breakfast.

Excellent burgers and sandwiches. I am particularly fond of The Joe- their grilled cheese sandwich on Texas toast with bacon. Also they have a really good pull pork sandwich, on a pretzel bun no less.

Came here for breakfast right after a knee operation. Ordered the waffle. It was supremely delicious and exactly what I needed to come out of my anesthesia fog.

The sandwiches are fine, but oddly over priced. They have no vegetable option as a side, most of their sides are smothered in mayonnaise. They seem to stay afloat by their captive customers at the surrounding hospitals who dont have enough time to go elsewhere on their break. Its a pity.

Nice spot near the MUSC campus nestled in an old house thats great for a quick bite for lunch. Saw that they had scrumptious looking cupcakes that Ill need to partake of next time!

This restaurant really needs to update their door dash app menus...I ordered one thing, got a phone call from door dash stating “they don’t make this sandwich at dinner”, changed my order and of course had the same thing happen again when the menu clearly states online 7am-7pm....terrible customer service when door dash asked them to make a simple exception, they said no. Will not be attempting to order from here again.

If youre meeting a hospital employee for lunch, this is a great spot. Despite the long lines, the service is very quick with plenty of seating. We were lucky enough to find a meter, but Im not rally sure where one would park if you didnt.

Staff was rude, oatmeal that took 10 min to receive. But its just plain oatmeal, with fruit. Not worth $5 at all. My Chai tea is spicey. Will never go back

I came for coffee and something baked to go with it, the cashier had an attitude more suitable for Spanish inquisition, rushing me and just bad vibing the whole process. I orderd an espresso and received something in a huge paper cup, i cant believe it, its 2017. I chose 3 different baked goods, they were all disgusting (and that is an understatement). Mistakenly i also ordered a bagal, took them half an hour to make it and when i complained midwait, again i got an attitude. came about that cashier hero forgot to put the order in.Conclusion: South Carolina if you want to have higher level food and enjoy quality then please stop supporting fly by night, half a... Establishments like halo. Call it the food revolution, South Carolina you deserve more.
