STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND. I dont normally leave reviews but here I felt like it would appropriate because my experience was unexpected. I came to Kira after being highly recommended by the gown boutique where I found my wedding dress. The initial meeting with Kira was promising. She appeared to know my vision for the dress and agreed to accommodate my needs despite the well communicated short timeline before my wedding. She advertised herself well and the 12yrs of experience was impressive. I left her feeling very hopeful and excited that surely she would make my gown most beautiful. My next two appointments were terrifying.I felt dismissed by her 15min appointment at my 2nd fitting. At my 3rd fitting, Kira offered no suggestions on how to alter my gown. She stood quietly while my sisters and I offered all the ideas. There was no motivation or excitement offered by Kira. To one of our suggestions she even commented I cant do that. I dont have time which quite literally bewildered me. On day one, I clearly communicated with her my vision for the dress and my timeline. She never stated any concern with fulfilling my vision for the dress. After my 3rd fitting, I found myself crying the entire drive home, practically panicking because I no longer loved my dress and felt as if Kira was not willing to work with it. I texted Kira on my way home to ask for another fitting before she finalizes my dress. She can not be reached via phone call and did not reply to my text messages for several days. As a professional who works with brides, I felt she should be more responsive to minimize the stress of the Big Day. Her lack of response to phone calls and txt increased my lack of confidence in her professionalism. 2 weeks before my wedding I had to find another seamstress to complete the alterations since Kira was not meeting my needs. upon picking up my dress, Kira charged me an extra $190 for work she did not complete, sleeves and belt. The sleeves in the picture are pinned and not permanently attached. I paid a total of $700 for uncompleted work. Extremely dissapointed that Kira proceeded to charge me extra knowing I was dissatisfied in her work and that I am going to another seamstress. Again, I hate to write this review. Perhaps if your dress just needs minimal work like completing the bustle or hem, she will be your go to gal, but save all your more intricate work for another seamstress, better yet find another seamstress all together.

Kira is a doll!! She gave amazing suggestions, and helped make my dress fit me so well, I could comfortably party all day/night long without a single worry! I LOVED the bustle! She is so fun and her studio is so stinking cute!

Kira is awesome! I bought an off the rack dress at Magnolia Bridal in downtown and I am so glad they recommended Kira! She made the 3 step alterations process so easy and was really honest with me about the best way to adjust things to look just right. I was planning a wedding from out of state in 4 months so being able to schedule fittings online when I could fly into town was so helpful. I would highly recommend Kira for anything you need. My dress, which was originally a size too large, fit like a glove on the big day and my (now) husband LOVED it

LOVE LOVE LOVE! Kira is a miracle worker! I ordered a dress that was a few sizes too big and a solid foot too long. To make matters more complicated.. Im short and so a huge chunk of the midsection had to be taken out and pulled up. Needless to say, the dress had to be completely deconstructed and rebuilt. It was an entirely different and custom dress in the end... but so much better than I thought it could be!! If you want quality alterations done on your dress for your BIG DAY I highly recommend Kira Elizabeth Design Studio

I realized 3 weeks before my wedding my dress didn’t have a bustle on it so I contacted Kira. She let me know she would be on vacation for 2 weeks but could take my dress three days before the wedding and do it overnight. I had read her reviews so I trusted it would turn out perfect and it did! Kira is awesome and did a great job! I would definitely recommend her services!!

As a covid bride I was so nervous about fitting into my wedding gown being a destination wedding and having tried it on 8 months prior. Covid happened and I felt so anxious about needing last minute alterations. Kira was able to fit me in last minute for a fitting. She was so welcoming and made me feel so comfortable. Her studio is beautiful. I loved her custom gowns she had designed. She sure does have a talent for design and alterations. She was very knowledgeable in the fabrics and designs and how to care for them. She gave me some great advice for my wedding gown the day of! I would definitely recommend Kira, she was great to work with!

Kira is AMAZING! 🙌🏻 Just read this and see why! I’m in town from California for my sister’s wedding which is TOMORROW and just LAST NIGHT I realized that my bridesmaid dress doesn’t fit 😭My sister (whose dress she also did) texted her at like 8pm asking if she could see me and rescue my dress. She texted right back and said she could see us at 11:00! So I came in, tried it on, and she worked her magic. She fixed it while we waited and we chatted like old friends. It took like 10 mins and it’s perfect. When I asked her how much I owed her she said, “Don’t worry about it. I enjoyed chatting with you. And your sisters are repeat customers of mine anyways. 😊” Not only is she personable and professional, she is a very talented seamstress. Her shop is SO cute and stylish too! Very fashion forward while still classic. She did both of my sister’s wedding gowns and they turned out amazing too. If I lived here I would come to her for my wedding! Thank you Kira! You’re a life saver! ❤️

I bought a dress from a store that sold them off the rack. When I bought it, the dress was several sizes too large for me. I was worried I may have wasted my money. I took it to Kira Elizabeth Design Studio to see if it could be altered. Kira told me that it would be challenging due to the sheer neckline; however, she did think it could be done. I was so incredibly impressed with the work she did on the dress. After several fittings, she was able to make the dress fit so perfectly. I have never been so happy in a dress in my life.She also altered my mothers veil which was extremely fine and over 30 years old. She did an incredible job.Kira was also so pleasant and accommodating to work with. She took my suggestions and wishes and incorporated them perfectly. She was so professional and always had everything done when I needed it. I would highly recommend her to any bride!

Trusting someone with your wedding dress can be tough. But trust me when I say that it is in better hands with Kira than it is your own!I had a tough dress to alter – we had a really specific vision for the bodice, everything had to be altered, and it was a really layered, complex dress.Not only did Kira deliver, but she went above and beyond our expectations. It can be draining standing in a dress for an extended period of time, but Kira is a wonderful, wonderful person to be around. She was talkative and conversational without being too much so (not everyone loves to chat, and thats totally fine! But my mom and I do and she was so great to converse with in the shop) I but she was so great to be around and quickly (professionally, though) got the pins where they needed to be and did her work impressively quick/well.Kira is such a talented visionary - a down to earth, spunky, extraordinary person with a TRUE gift for what she does. I am so thankful she was recommended to me – now go call her!!

I had such an amazing experience working with Kira on altering my heirloom wedding dress! She executed my vision for the dress to a tee, working with me every step of the way. She made me feel heard and valued as a customer and her professional and friendly demeanor put me completely at ease as I trusted her with my dress. I would not recommend anyone else in the Charleston area for an heirloom redesign or alteration! Kira is a miracle worker! My dress needed a lot of alterations and she made it happen and look as if it came perfectly made for me. She was able to work around her schedule to see me just days before the wedding. She was even able to alter my mother’s dress 2 DAYS BEFORE THE WEDDING! Could it be any better than that? Kira and Nicole were just amazing, HIGHLY Recommend!

You cant go wrong with Kira! She works magic on your dress, is so talented, creative and friendly! I had her make a custom top half of my dress that was extremely difficult to pull off. She squeezed me in for extra fittings and was just in general one of my favorite vendors from my wedding experience. I enthusiastically recommend her to everyone I know!

I really enjoyed working with Kira. She was very knowledgeable and helped answer all my questions regarding the dress alterations, wedding day stress, and post-wedding care of the dress. Kira did an amazing job on my wifes dress. During the last hurricane she even took the care to make sure the dresses werent anywhere that was going to be affected by the hurricane. Would highly recommend her to anyone.

Kira did my dress alterations and created a brooch bouquet for myself and my maid of honor and flower girl. She was very easy to work with and the quality of her work was top notch. She even did alterations for my flower girl dress the day before the wedding, when my flower girl arrived in town and her dress was too small. My bouquets turned out exquisite. My bustle was awesome and not a traditional bustle but very easy to put up the day of the wedding.I wish I could post a picture of my bouquet. It was prettier than I could imagine and I do have to say, it brought tears to my eyes the first time I saw it. And it was the first one she had ever put together. It is definitely something that I will cherish the rest of my life and hopefully pass down to my daughter or future grandchildren to use in their own weddings. She did matching ones for my maid of honor and flower girl. She also did brooches for my mother and mother-in-law.I highly recommend Kira Elizabeth Designs. Working with Kira Elizabeth was the best decision I ever made. From the first meeting, she was able to sketch my dream dress with me just giving her my vision. Every step of the process was stress free. She was able to order the exact material that I wanted to create my dream wedding dress. The fit, quality, and detail of her work is truly amazing and rivals all of the high end wedding dress designers. Being able to design your own custom wedding dress with some one who is so talented, is every brides dream come true. I felt like a million dollars!

It’s taken me a long time to write this review because I have no complaints about the big day which is rare except for my dress. I was absolutely gouged on the price of my alterations. To have my dress taken in and add a bow took 7 fittings and the price was over $1,000. When I told the lady at home who has altered all of my dresses since I was little she was shocked.l, especially after she saw the pictures of the work. The bow also didn’t match the fabric of my dress and not to mention the biggest complaint- the bustle was a joke. My sister came with me to my last fitting and we were told word for word “you do not need to video or take pictures, this is so easy”. The bustle never matched up and my dress ended up being ruined. The bustle never worked even with the professional photographer, wedding planner, my mom, and grandmother. I am so disappointed and wish I went with someone else.

I did not have a good experience right out of the gate. I made an appointment online and was sent a google confirmation reminder from Kira which said 5:30-6:30 pm.My sister and I excitedly arrived at 5:07pm with wedding gown in hand. We were faced with a long curtain drawn one foot in front of the door. There was little to no space to stand, no signage or chairs or any place to hang the gown.I gave out a friendly yoo hoo! and were met with a most unwelcoming voice informing us that we were way too early.We apologized and from there the conversation just got worse. Im hitting the highlights only but she insisted our appointment was at 6:30. It ends up that the google reminder said 5:30 central standard time. Which obviously makes no sense. It was clearly a misunderstanding that was mishandled gravely by a business owner. We felt like a major inconvenience during a time which was supposed to be fun and exciting! It gave us both a yuck feeling and we will not be returning.

I needed alterations for an evening gown I wore to a military ball. Kira was not only very sweet, but very professional. Her expertise in dressmaking and fashion all together is top notch. I would highly recommend her.

Kira did an amazing job at transforming my size 10 modern trousseau wedding gown in to a size 2. She was patient, flexible and a really great value.
