Great bookstore. Very helpful staff. Easy to find or order the books I needed. Cant wait to go back.
I love the personal touch this local store has! The staff is amazing and I always feel welcome. :)
I am happy that Flyleaf exists here in Chapel Hill. Nice to have used books there too. Id like to see a more expanded literature section and more surprises in what they buy and tout.
Locally owned, knowledgeable, friendly staff, what is not to love.
Love this place. Great selection of books and a very helpful staff.
Excellent! Any and everything Ive ever wanted!
Great selection kids absolutely loved shopping got a bag full of goodies! Thanks Ellie!
This is by far the best bookstore in the triangle. On top of the awesome selection and friendly / knowledgeable staff they also have great events!
Flyleaf always goes above and beyond. But for Christmas my sister-in-law looked up a local bookstore to get me a book I wanted. What arrived from Flyleaf was a perfectly and beautifully wrapped gift with a hand-written tag just as if it had come from her directly.
Good selection and really friendly staff. Their used book selection is pretty good too.
Lovely independent book store, friendly helpful staff. Will definitely recommend
Has a decent selection no complaints here. Store was very organized and clean.
One of my favourite independent bookstores. I live more than an hour away now, but every time I visit Orange County I try to stop by Flyleaf. :)
I have ordered books twice during the last few months. Once was a gift that was shipped to Maryland the second was for pick up here in Chapel Hill. Both times the orders were processed quickly and email updates on status were timely. Thank you!!!
Great local store.
This is a terrific book store. The staff are friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is great. Chairs are placed around so that one can sit and read. They also have a large selection of used books.
The best kind of dinosaur. I try to buy all books here. The staff is knowledgeable. The actual building is cool. They invest deeply in the community (they dont ever hesitate to make donations to non profits). Really amazing place.
Wonderful place! I had a great time there performing with dear friend poets. The staff was very helpful and considerate. I relaxed place for people looking interesting reading.
It is a great place to find all kinds of books, old and new. They have something for everybody, any age or interest. Me and my fiance went to get some gardening books, and I got some unique cards I thought my sister would like. It is very LGBT friendly, which is great!
This place is a treasure trove for books. I love coming here without any plans or expectations of what I want to buy. It’s nice to explore the store and peruse the staff picks. The staff clearly have a fond love of books and write brief recommendations for many of the books on display which helps me decide which book is best for me. I always leave with a new book that I never expected to purchase but am excited to read.
Always up-to-date selection of new books, constantly rearranged. Well-stocked with the usual classification, with a healthy dose of signed books. There is an exceptional selection of signed young adult books as well. Helpful staff recommendations are sprinkled throughout. The used books are curated into interesting categories.
Flyleaf Books makes you really miss bookstores!! Great, interesting and unusual titles. Helpful staff. Great vibe. Fantastic weird-yet-intelligent little impulse-buy gift items. Regular readings and book launches. I wish there were more independent bookstores and they were all like this!!
Being a very picky person aggravates even myself sometimes. These guys at Flyleaf Books hit all the right buttons in just the right ways. Greet you with a smile and are very accommodating. The store seems larger than it actually is. But the space is well planned out. A book club that I belong too met here. There were 16 of us, plus we had Pizza brought in. We had everything we needed and the gathering was a success. The room we occupied, you couldnt guess we were in a book store. The acoustics are fantastic and the noise level is low. The store accommodates a number of community and youth events. If your looking for something to read, this is the place.
Friendly staff, lots of selection.
A wonderful bookshop. There are bookmarks in many of the books where customers/employees give their review of the book. There is a large room full of used books, and the side of the workshop space is full of youth books. Several comfy chairs are arranged throughout the store. The employees are friendly, and its a very inviting atmosphere.
This is a great bookstore. They have alot of new books from all great authors. The new books are priced like new books ($$). They have a huge separate room with gently used books with reasonable prices ($-$$). If you do not find the book or author you are looking for they will locate the book for you in a reasonable time frame.
Small-town, cozy atmosphere. Feels like shopping in a living room. Also LOVE story time with Mr. Keith.
Incredible. Friendly staff, great used book collection for my 7 year old. We found exactly what we wanted. Bonus: its less than 5 minutes from us!
Great little local bookstore! New AND used (in the back). Cute little gifts up front and really pretty (and reasonably priced) mini wrapping paper too!
Great local, independent bookstore. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable, with recommendations on many of the books. Lots of other activities, too, from readings to signings to writing workshops.
Dishonest buyerA staff member bought a few SF books from me including an old copy of The Stars My Destination. They denied the rest of my mass market paperbacks that were of similar quality. When pressed why they picked it out I was told they just liked that book. I looked it up after I left and the book is worth ~$50! They gave me $5 for the lot...Keep in mind most any bookstore will try to swindle ya out of your rares. Know what you have before presenting books to them. Learn from me. It feels quite bad being taken advantage of.Otherwise the store is fine. Good staff picks, decent used section.
Great local bookstore right in the center of Chapel Hill. Great selection of wonderfully curated collection of books and more. Check out the staff recommendations, now with two tables. Im sure you can sense the excitement building. Very helpful staff, authors are often in the back room for a book signing or reading. All around great bookstore, next to so many great stores, food and drinks.
Charming little book store. Full of spirit and character. Used section and New section both full of staff reccomendations and amazing. One of the best bookshops Ive been to in a while, honestly, and Ive been to quite a few.
This is a great store with a homey atmosphere. Their selection of both new and uses books is expansive and they will order you anything they can find. Highly recommend.
The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. There are employee book reviews all over the place, which are super fun to read! They dont hassle you to hurry up, and their displays are neat and rather plentiful! They host a variety of events in the back, too. They are also willing to order anything that you may need, and help you figure out what that may be, too. I just love spending time there after work to destress !
Incredible local bookstore. The owners are some of the best people around, organizing community events and bringing great authors to the area. The staff is passionate about books and can give you some excellent recommendations. There are so many great books to choose from here!
Such a healthy community, the staff is phenomenal, the selection is expansive (including used books) and they can order anything. I easily spend hours here!
Independent bookstore which is rare these days. Relaxing environment with knowledgeable staff. Great unique books!
A fine local independent bookshop. Good selection of new and used books. Great childrens section. As youd expect, very competent staff.
Truly excellent book shop! Now, they have used books as well. They always have wonderful authors coming through and fun events in coordination with local groups and centers. Their childrens section and local section are frequently updated. We love the reviews from staff.
What an incredible bookstore!! Stopped by on the recommendation of a friend, and can’t get enough. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the selection is really varied and wonderful, and the space is really inviting. What a gem!
Flyleaf Books is a beacon in the night for book lovers. In the age of mega-box bookstores filled with as many toys and tote bags as titles, Flyleaf offers a book buying experience that is both refreshing and worth pursuing. Located on multiple bus lines, youll have no reason not to visit this Chapel Hill gem.The staff is composed of impassioned book sellers who do what they love. The shop itself is warm and beautiful.Flyleaf often hosts wonderful readings and events so dont wander too far lest you miss a great time.
Got an awesome used book here! If I lived nearby, I can see this as a place Id go to cuddle up with a book and read for a while
Great non-chain bookstore. Each book has detailed handwritten notes highlighting useful information without providing spoilers. Staff will also help find books of any interest. Highly recommended, this is a great example of a well run, locally owned small business.
Lovely shop. Pleasant staff. I enjoyed shopping there.
Wonderful bookstore. They have new and used books on any subject and latest fiction, rare books as well. Helpful staff! Check their events calendar for talks from authors and poetry readings. Highly recommend.
Flyleaf is a Chapel Hill treasure and a wonderful place for book lovers of all ages to browse. This independent bookstore has made itself part of the community by offering classes, readings, storytime and more!
Nice book store. Some of the staff very helpful, some of the staff way to cool to be helpful.
This is a very charming bookstore with a knowledgeable and passionate staff. They have loads of staff recommendations with great write-ups. I love that they have a used book section in the store, which will buy your books and which also has a great selection of affordable titles.
The sole survivor of the multitude of new-and-used bookstores that used to fill Chapel Hill. Huge selections, knowledgeable and helpful staff, lots of small non-book literary gifts, and right beside a great location for a coffee or light meal.
Both new and used. Warm environment
Nice atmosphere and an excellent selection of new and used books
This is a great bookstore that has a very unique collection of books and it is very well curated. Many books have comments recommending them to the buyer. There are also book signings and sometimes presentations by the authors. If you are a member of their club, you also get a 10% discount on purchases.
Super nice local bookstore. I love shopping the used section. If you bring in your used books they may buy them; I get store credit and turn it into more books!
A premiere, independent book store. They host author events (Lee Smith, Peter Mckuk), and once a month feature poets reading before an enthusiastic audience, followed by an open mic. This is a great place to browse, make friends, and learn. They have a wonderful staff at the counter.
Knowledgeable, helpful staff. A surprisingly large number of books. I particularly appreciate the way they highlight certain books and categories of books. Good selection of books by local authors.
Great little independent book shop. The staff are great and it definitely feels like its part of the community. Since it is small, the selection of books is limited but what they have is always a great read.
Great bookstore. Nice big room for book clubs and readings. Nice mix of popular and unusual books.
The perfect bookstore. In all my travels, one of if not the very best. Jamie and the staff are wonderful. A local, regional and state treasure. Flyleaf demonstrates the positive community influence of the independent bookstore.
This is one of the best indy best stores in the state. Great selection and helpful staff
Awesome local bookstore. Great selection, lovely and helpful staff.
A treasure... one of the best indie booksellers anywhere. Personal touches, frequent author readings and other events, plenty of used books, and a wonderfully curated selection.
Great books and staff!!!
A wonderful local bookshop with great events!
Nice, independent book store. Good selection. Often has author lectures, etc.
Great selection of new and used, excellent kids section, events with interesting authors, helpful friendly and joyful staff!
Great bookstore. Great selection with awesome recommendations from the staff. Forget Barnes & Noble! Go here instead!
Great variety of books and gifts. Also a great kid section!
Great local bookstore! Staff recommendations, author events, and a good selection of new and used books.
Flyleaf Books is more than a bookstore, it is a community. Jamie and her staff go the extra mile to serve the public and make it clear that Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, and other giant competitors have nothing on them. They are often right in the right price zone, but in addition, they have staff that actually read the books they sell and can help you find just the right book. They are a joy to work with a beacon of civilization in the area.
If youre looking to get lost like Alice down the rabbit hole of books, there is no better place. I could spend hours going through their unique selection of books, tucked away in one of their comfy chairs.
Great selection, nice people, good advice on what to explore.
Amazing selection of books and very helpful staff. Nice space. Great events.
If I’m looking for that special gift, I’ve been known to describe a friend’s interest and have received recommendations that have yet to disappoint. There’s also a steady stream of author and educational events, so be savvy and keep an eye on their website or like the Flyleaf Facebook page so you don’t miss out on that perfect event.Located next to Foster’s market on Martin Luther King Blvd, I tend to include both establishments on my “new to the area” buyer tours. I like to pit stop for a cup of coffee or snack at Foster’s, and then show off Flyleaf. The typical response is, “Wow, we didn’t know places like this still existed. This is a cool town.”I smile
Great independent bookseller. Lots of detailed recommendationsin every genre! Support independents! Support your local booksellers!
I love the selection, the service is friendly and the staff picks for reading are always a good choice. They also have a respectable used book section.
Excellent, independent book store with an excellent collection and great ambience for browsing the books. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Whoa! Rocking customer service! I bought some cute bags as gifts and mentioned the next daunting task of finding packaging to mail them. The clerk offered to give me some from their back room. Plus blank labels to write the addresses. I cant tell you how much that helps me! With two small kids and two jobs, Im lucky if people get Christmas gifts by February. Thank you so much! You really went the extra mile for me.
Friendly and well-stocked independent bookstore. Also a great collection of used books and kids books, cards, stationery, etc. Look for author readings and other events.
Hard to believe Flyleaf Books has only been around four years because they feel like theyve been part of the Chapel Hill community for decades, like a trusty friend you turn to for advice. In their case the advice comes in the form of books for kids, for adults and for cooks (they host a monthly meeting of CHOP NC, Culinary Historians of the Piedmont, as well as cookbook authors when they come to visit the Triangle on book tours). The L-shaped store shelves are lined with books covering every imaginable genre but dont walk past the display tables that feature staff picks because thats where youll find the real gems. If youre a book lover, you should really consider the store membership (a lifetime membership for a one time fee, good for everyone in your household) to get discounts and invites to special member-only sales.
Family story time with Mr. Keith Id awesome
Great variety, super gift book display (wanted them for myself!) knowledgeable staff, fascinating author talks. Independent Bookstores Rock!
Fabulous inventory of books and cards, etc. Author talks and book signings.
Friendly, knowledgeable young staff always willing to help, cozy, welcoming atmosphere, broad collections: all one hopes for in an indie bookstore.

Wonderful place. Lots of books to browse, new and used. Staff is very nice and helpful.
The staff recommendations here are the best. I find new books here that I would never have picked for myself that turn out to be gems.
