Matcha latte was good, not as sweet as Starbucks matcha latte. A lot of ppl in the cafe. Kinda hard to find an indoor seating. Also kinda hard to find a parking lot too. Had to drive around a bit to find a parking space. Overall vibe is great. Recommend this place!

Book side was nice. Coffee experience not so much. Espresso was gritty and seemed extra bitter. Mocha latte was near cold (ordered it hot). Not a fan of paying $10+ for 2 subpar beverages.

Lived in Chapel Hill for a year and this is BY FAR the best coffee shop in the city. Im not sure what they put in their mochas, but it has a distinct spice/kick to it that makes it very unique. Wish I still lived there, so I could get my daily cup.

The best first date of my life started here. Really cool books, wonderful vibes, and amazing service. The churros and coffee were phenomenal too. We got to talk and meet each other and use it as a nice peasant spot to break the ice.Not saying its a necessarily romantic place, but its a really pleasant and nice one and Im happy to give it 5 stars!

Lovely vibe, lots of books, often very friendly service! But, for the (high) prices of the espresso drinks the quality is super unreliable. Luke warm lattes, coffees filled up to the brim and spilling over. Go for the books and the location, dont order a fancy drink.

Great coffee and great staff! The syrups you can add to your drink give it that unique taste. I loved the short story dispensor, and the $6/$7 mystery books. The atmosphere was welcoming. I loved the descriptions placed on the outside of the books. Very covid safe and made browsing easy. The candles they sell smell amazing too. Ill be picking up one next time.

This place has all the books you wanted, plus many you dont know you want yet! Staff leaves many descriptions and curates titles thoughtfully. We got a 2013 novel by Paul Yoon, new short stories by Brenda Peynado, Nicole Glovers debut book. Just a really exciting selection. Iced coffee was good as was concha. Reminded me of El Péndulo a little bit. Worth visiting and picking up your next read.

This place is absolutely gorgeous and packed full of fabulous books. They have a new and used section, both of which had great options for personal reading or for gifting. The little gift items were beautiful as well. I didnt try their coffee, but their menu and flavors looked wonderful. The murals and artwork were charming as well. There is even a machine that will print you little short stories written by local talent / authors on receipts, and my friend and I loved the stories we read. Visit if you are in town!

Judging from the coffee and the atmosphere, it was nice. There’s lovely art, such as a mural of Frida Kahlo and a colorful (in the literal sense) selection of books, which contrasted well with the more rustic theme of the store. The coffee wasn’t anything phenomenal given the price and when we specified the coffee be extra hot, it was lukewarm. The books didn’t seem at all interesting besides decorative pieces.

I knew I loved the concept of café/chocolatería/bookstore, but they really nailed the execution. Modern and beautiful without being too trendy, with a coffee menu as eclectic and intriguing as their new/used book selection. I might just live here now.

The careful thoughtfulness that goes into making this place a great shop is apparent from the book selection which highlights minority experiences, to the quality of their espresso drinks, to their thoughtful and well-displayed shop policies. I feel safe and happy here. Their books are “expensive” compared to amazon, but please remember that the cost includes the effort put into curating them. (Plus there are used books in the back…!!!!) I think it’s worth it. I cherish the books I have bought here knowing I’m supporting the effort to keep independent bookshops afloat.I order a simple latte and it is always well made.To give an example of how wonderful the staff are: One of the folks panhandles around franklin st was talking to me without a mask, and the owner Jaime kindly reminded him to wear one inside the shop and then asked me if I was okay. I don’t think anyone has ever asked me if I was okay after something like that happened in a business, and I felt really cared for. I also didn’t feel like he was being mean to our panhandling friend. This is a hard line to toe when you’re running a business. Thanks for doing that.

Okay, I used to love this place. Until today.I spent 9 bucks on a flight of sipping chocolates, thats fine. However, when I was sitting down drinking, one of the employees called me out for not wearing my mask while not actively drinking. like? What? I was in between sips looking down at my phone. What is wrong with you people?Chapel Hill people might be used to this nonsense, but if youre coming from out of town, stick with Starbucks. At least they wont embarrass you in front of the whole establishment for not waterboarding yourself with your masks.0/10 dont go here.

I need you to understand that I have never written a review for an establishment in my life. I stumbled across Epilogue while shopping online for a book I was having trouble finding, and was delighted to discover it was just one city over so I could go pick it up.I needed a small adventure in these strange & isolated times. I browsed, smiling, picked up a few more books, and stood dazzled in front of their absolutely delightful coffee menu before the barista asked if I would like their recommendation. I ordered exactly what they specified - lavender sea salt mocha, oat milk, whipped cream. Large. Iced.Friends, I stepped outside, pulled my mask to the side, took one single sip, and immediately stopped dead in my tracks. I had to lean against a nearby railing and gaze into the street, awestruck, agape, hand to my heart. I got some looks. This was not just a mocha. This was a beacon of hope in an otherwise increasingly dark existence. This was a spiritual experience. This coffee replenished my serotonin. This coffee buttered my toast, did my taxes, and watered my crops. Fellas, this coffee may have saved my life.Anyway the book selection was great and they pay their employees a living wage so 10/10 I will be back a thousand times.

A beautifully crafted coffee shop with an extensive collection of books. However, do not ask employees for book recommendations. They will stereotype you, assume narratives that are false, and belittle you as a person. I asked for a recommendation from the best sellers and was asked by an employee what my favorite book of all time was, I was slow to answer. But before I could answer the question a second employee from behind the counter decided to make a prejudice comment “Probably the Bible.”Now, I’m not sure why this joke was made since I hadn’t mentioned anything about my taste in books prior, much less affiliated myself with a religion. I assume I was judged based on my race/gender. I felt discriminated against and angry that a comment like this would be made, I would expect better from a place that should promote learning. Don’t shop here!!

I order coffee when I get tired and need to wake up. Thats the extent to which I care about quality, has to have caffeine and taste like coffee. Normally just any drip coffee is good from a dining hall or home.Standards arent high, I threw out the coffee from here. It was bad to the point it upset my stomach. Smelled a little bit like coffee but tasted really bad. Not sure what happened but my sisters coffee was the same and shed gotten a cold brew.Do not recommend.

Ive been waiting for this place to open for months as all I really want to do is read books and consume chocolate. I went today and the experience actually exceeded my expectations, which I didnt think was possible. The salted peanut butter drinking chocolate was the best Ive ever had and the freshly made vegan churros were spectacular. I was so happy to see that the majority of books in the front section are authored by women and women of color. I cant wait to go back and try some of the other drinking chocolate flavors and look through the used book section in the book. As a bonus the decor is also wonderful, warm and homey - the Frida mural is gorgeous.

My friend went earlier in the week for beer only to find that there was no beer. My other friend and I went on Saturday of their opening week, and waited in line for ~15 minutes to get churros, only to be told that they werent making them anymore. It would have been nice if they put out a sign so that guests waiting for churros would not have to spend 15 mins waiting just to be told they are out. But, we felt awkward and so ordered two drinks—a normal latte and one of their specialty flavored lattes. After waiting an hour and 10 mins (!!) my friend was told that the syrup to make her drink was out, and she could get a refund or another drink. She just took the refund. I got my latte after hers and it was pretty good, hence the second star. However, I really think it reflects poorly on their customer service to have people waiting so long, even if its opening weekend. They should have planned for it. I would avoid for a couple months until business dies down or go at some obscure time during the week.
