Id love to like this place but the strict compliance with Fatty Pricksters mask mandates doesnt sit well with me. Sooo many businesses ignore it but something about coffee shops make them more compliant than others. Take away the mask mandatory to signs and Ill happily switch this review to 5 stars. This Covid stuff wont ever end if we dont let it.

I was super happy to find out this place has a $5 egg, cheese, avocado breakfast sandwich w/ veggie sausage since I am a vegetarian! Ive ordered the sandwich 3 times & I can honestly say that its the best breakfast sandwich (that I’ve had) in Champaign. But Every time I order I notice that the bill is high? I knew something didnt make sense so I checked my receipt & sure enough they are charging me $5.75 instead of $5? I gotta be honest, I feel a little cheated - Thats $2.25 extra that I’ve paid so far. I told the barista about it and he said that the prices went up. No apology, no here’s your .75 extra back. I knew something was funny because he keeps asking me if I want to add avocado 🥑? Am im always thinking, ?? But it comes w/ Avocado so im confused. Is it $5? Or $5.75? Because your board say $5 but you’ve been charging me $5.75 ... either get a new board or take down the old ones because there are 2; one at the door & one at the register & they both say $5 🤷🏻‍♂️ ... its not cool to expect to pay one price & then its $.75 more!? Quiet, out of the way coffee shop. They are doing indoor seating at the moment. I was so grateful to be be able to come inside and warm up after a chilly bike ride! 🔥💯

I will admit, Starbucks used to be my go-to coffee place. But I’ve gotten hooked on Espresso Royale’a higher-quality coffee, excellent and personable service, drink variety, and their small-town feel. Plus I love knowing I’m supporting a local business! Give this place a try and you will be hooked too!

Coffee was well made. Very tasteful. Sell excellent brands of snacks. Nice environment. Coffee was warm, not hot. I got steamed almond milk, which usually keeps it pretty hot. Mens restroom was clean, but smelled like someone hid their dirty underwear somewhere. Employee was very polite and helpful.

I have loved going here for years and would honestly give it a 5 if their hours of operation were more reasonable.I love being out late at cafes when it is calm and I can focus on work. Well, they changed their hours to consistently close early. They lost most of my business :/The hours are different with different espresso royales across the area so make sure to check the hours for them all individually. I believe this one at the village at the crossing closes the earliest.

I know Im writing a review for the wrong location because I went to the one on neil. I love this place and love their coffee. Also have been going here for years now. However today I was served a sandwich that I can guarantee had raw bacon on it. It had the consistency of bacon that was fresh out of a package. I called and asked if it was cooked but i didnt believe it. I went home and placed my sandwich in the oven and the bacon went from light pink to a darker pink like it does when it gets cooked. I really hope I dont get sick from this.

I didnt like the fact they wouldnt take cash, but service was good.

Its totally irresponsible to not update your hours on commonly used platforms such as Google Maps. I just did it for them after arriving to find a locked door.

Great service! I was overcharged because I asked for a tea and barista thought I asked for a latte. So he gave me a free drink since I was overcharged. Friendly environment. There is a seating area to just chill and relax.

Love our coffee, worked there for some time too. Great part time gig with not too bad tips. I recommend it as a first time or for college students.

Good coffee and good service. It seems always near full on weekdays.It gets loud inside one small group talking & machines are all it takes). Many people study/work there. One star off because most of the time all of the four-top tables are taken by one person with books and a computer. It can be impossible for four people to meet there and get a table.Nice trellised patio outside offers some shade on hot sunny days.

Its what youd expect.The place is quaint and the atmosphere is pretty chill. I only had a black cup of coffee but I did notice little chunks in the coffee at the end. I like too hope it was just grounds but it didnt really feel like it.

Service was fast. Coffee was good and strong. Seating is a little cramped if there are a lot of people. Parking is also not great.

I used to go here a lot, but I went today and didnt recognize any of the 3 employees working. They were so busy chatting with each other it took a long time to order. Then they laid my panini on the counter and called out the wrong order, so it sat there and got cold. Since they didnt offer to warm it up for me, I just microwaved it when I got home. I waited 10 minutes for a sandwich and I was the only customer in line. I wont be going back. Its too bad, I used to love this place!

Nice and laid back environment. Great coffee and vegan zucchini bread, though the slices are much bigger at the location on campus. The staff are really friendly. The only aspect of this specific location that I dont like is that its a little too noisy, making it a little harder when just a person just wants to read or study. One or two tables are almost always where some MLM soccer mom/corporate climber/youth minister has decided to hold court like its a study room they checked out at the library. Monopolizing the aural atmosphere of our public spaces for personal gain is an arrogant practice. I would happily tip the servers extra if they asked people to step outside for conversations, phone calls, etc.

Whether your 1st time dropping in or if youre a neighborhood regular, youll never find a warmer cup of coffee from more friendly people than this! Thanks ERC!

Not bad drinks, but wow this place is worn out. Carpet is nasty, fabric furniture is stained from spills and oily skin, and ripped in many places. Air circulation is poor in the winter, humid and stuffy. Id avoid this as a hang out place, but go there for coffees and then get out.
