Love shopping at Prairie Gardens! I just came across this fun photo that I had a friend take while we were looking at their Christmas Holiday Trees during their Annual Open House! Love voting for my favorite design and decor of the elaborately decorated trees!

What a great place to shop! Beautiful boutique, seasonal decor and accessories, and fantastic prices on plants. If I lived nearby, thats the only garden center Id choose. Even with an 8 hour trip back home, we still shopped there on 2 different days and had to completely rethink how to load the car after buying so much. Well definitely be back when were back visiting in a few months.

Used to be you could find unique gifts here, seems like they are carrying the same as everyone else. I will say a very good candle selection still.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year at Prairie Gardens. I found myself almost in tears as I walked In after 35 years. You see my first job at age 17 was here. I learned so much during those few years and am so grateful to see this fabulous institution still thriving .

I love those place. Besides plants youve lots of furniture and things to decorate your house. Pots, lighting, clothing, seasonal decoration. When plants are going out of season, good sales.

Very pleased, John was super helpful. I had talked to him and Marianne a few days before. They were both knowledgeable and answered our questions. We picked out flowering shrubs to plant this fall

Wow, Ive never seen such a huge garden center! It was so clean; the plant varieties and selection was fantastic. Very spacious.In addition to plants, they have everything plant-related (pots, fertilizers, decor, etc), plus cards, jewelry, clothing, furniture, and so much more. We were impressed with the high quality of everything we saw.

Great shopping in a clean, well organized store. Vast array of merchandise for your home and yard. Will return and highly recommend if you are in the Champaign area.

Prairie Gardens never disappoints with variety of items, friendly and helpful staff, and a very clean store. Even if you dont realize you need it, they have it!

We had an art canvas stretched here and it was a touching experience. The two people who work the art department are just totally competent, sincerely hardworking, decent people. One of them had a family crisis during our project and the other person stepped up and worked for both of them, and finished a week early, just to take the pressure off their colleague. The work in this shop is superb. I cant say enough good about the art department.Its so much fun shopping at Prairie Farms, too. They always have new and different seasonal items.My only negative comment is that the garden center employees have a separate and different attitude. They consistently cant be bothered to help you, and when they do, the garden employees have quite a haughty attitude and wont share their knowledge without making you wait or putting you down for not knowing where things are, or even for just asking a question. Dont even talk to the garden people. Just walk through and maybe buy stuff, but if you try to talk they will make you want to leave.OH, I forgot... this place has the best large ceramic planters I have seen in all of North America!!! The selection is stunning and they cost ridiculously reasonable prices for the extreme beauty. Alas, they live in the infamous garden department...

This is the best store in town to buy plants, seeds, and garden supplies. I think this is the only place that stocks the onion sets. Also I think the large manure bags here are cheaper than elsewhere.

I discovered Prairie Gardens last year and I fell in love! They have a fantastic selection on literally anything you can think of. Suzie (sp??) was very helpful and helped me pick out more plants to go with a perennial I had selected! She has a wealth of knowledge and was eager to help! I can’t recommend this place enough to anyone wanting to get their hands in the garden!

Our favorite store for plants and everything else! Great statuary, endless plants, lovely home goods. We always pick out Moms Mothers day flowers here for her garden and porch.

This is a great garden center that has a long history in CU. They have every type of plant, shrub, tree. They also have furniture, home decor, greeting cards, toys, and seasonal decor.

Love the atmosphere. So many plants and vegetables to chose from.Is tricky to reach by bus but worth the effort.

Any garden center that gives me aphids gets a bad review. Two years later and Im still fighting to get rid of the aphids and have lost much beloved house plants that were many many years old. Dont buy their house plants.

They have an awesome garden center. If you are looking for a specific plant they are the place to look.

Everyone working there was so kind and patient! Theres a lady there who takes care of the plants in the house plant room. She answered questions I had about my peace lily and probably saved its life, haha. She also helped me pick out the right plants for a specific area of my home that I had an idea for and helped me figure out how I should display the plants there to make sure they stayed healthy. She was so helpful and I owe a lot to her! Other people working there also helped me figure out some more style-based problems with my little project. I really appreciate the nice, patient people working here and the excellent selection of plants, pots, and home decor!

Be sure to check your plants for pests and disease. Didnt end up getting any plants even though they had a decent selection that I havent seen before. Also alot of their plants are dying because theyre over watered. Make sure to repot soon after getting it or dont water for a while. Their soil holds alot of moisture. Hope this helps someone.

Alway a fantastic experience shopping here. I often just go to unwind after work and just walk around in the greenhouse and tree lot. But then I always manage to find something I cant live without. : )

So much selection and good prices for plants that I end up having to decide what to get! Amazing cost and pricing for the many different sizes of the same and different species of plants. From dwarf snake plants to massive ponytail palms and even Brazil Pothos plants, I could spend all day in that section! Wonderful selection of planters although a little pricey. The clearance section had everything that no one would buy so I can tell why it’s 70% off but other than that it was pretty good. I don’t know if I didn’t look in every room, but I didn’t see any orchids and they were out of orchid bark. Everything is either too expensive or a good deal so I’d recommend going in to see what you can find because if you need to make your house look nice, or you just love plants and gardening, this is a nice place to shop. I saw plants that I don’t even see at Home Depot or Lowe’s even basic cone flowers were displayed with many different color options! Landscaping, house plants, designing a home space, or just to shop around, I’d pick this store first over any other big chain.

I like their gift shop better than their plants. I have had better luck with the plants I buy at Meijer. During the peak seasons, their plant prices are also very high!

Huge store with lots of different things. Plant section is enormous. Expect to pay more than box store but supporting local businesses is always good.

That place is freaking amazing. I could stay for hours! It has such a variety of plants, bushes, fake flowers, basically anything you could possibly need if your a crafty person. I walk they the door, take a big sigh at the sight of it all, and continue onward while feeling the stresses of the day escape. Love this place! Highly recommend.

This isnt just a plant nursery. Its a haven from everyday life. Such a great variety of flowers, trees, herbs, vegetables, fruit and all things garden related. Id pay to work in this place.

This is one of my all time favorite stores. I’ve been coming here since I was a child. Back then I loved it because they were THE craft store to buy the things you need to make whatever you want. The coolest doll house kits that I just had to have. Now, they have the best plants and flowers in town at reasonable prices. Beautiful furniture, decor, gifts, etc. I love this store still and visit at least twice a month. It’s always been me and my mom’s favorites “lets browse” store.

A great place for everything outdoors! Youll need a couple hours to explore this gem! Crafters they have it all! Gardeners it is all here! From flowers to trees! Just when you think you are done, youll discover an acre of beautiful plants and trees out back!

Seemed like a really nice store but I had alot of difficulty finding anyone to help me find a certain plant that I was looking for. When I did find a worker she just gave me a general direction and told me theyre alphabetical before she said she was already helping somebody else and walked away. I ended up leaving cause I couldnt find what I was looking for & couldnt find anyone else to ask questions to.

Really nice guys there. I would suggest entering from the Duncan street entrance staying to the left gravel road, if delivering flowers or plants. The dock is very tight and they ask that you not drive on the sod. If you cant back from the right or prefer not to you will have to go back to that entrance and turnaround anyway. Or you will do alot of work just to find out on your own.

Pricey as hell. You’re definitely paying a premium for the selection.Staff is poor. Very condescending and act like they know everything when they clearly don’t. I asked for a fiddlehead fern. Got all sorts of attitude claiming “it is a generic name for a newly sprouting fern.” Except it’s not. It’s a common name for a Matteuccia struthiopteris or ostrich fern or shuttlecock fern. Don’t act like I’m the fool for asking for one.

I think the number of stars depends on what you are there for. Its a well laid out shop that is mostly home decor and trinkets. We went for plants. The greenhouse is well organized, the plants are healthy. The selection is typical, the prices significantly higher that the other locally owned nursery, very significantly. I decided to check out their selection after being at the other nursery earlier this week and was in shock when I saw the prices, Id never seen coneflower plants that cost that much, the prices were always over the very highest I assumed they would be when I checked the tag. They were very nice quality and quite healthy, but double to triple the price of the nice quality plants Id gotten at the other nursery for the exact same varieties. Ill be sticking to the other locally owned nursery in the future.
