I stopped by this morning for the first time and will definitely be back. The pumpkin pie latte and coffee cake I had were phenomenal and the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Ditch your chain coffee shop and stop by this local business, you won’t be disappointed!
Moonbird has been one of the things that has kept me going these past few years- they’ve helped me have a great start to many a morning! You can tell they’re a beloved part of the Chamblee community by all the regulars that come in not just to get a drink but also to say hello. If you’re looking to support an excellent small business run by lovely people, definitely come to Moonbird.I like to try something different every other trip, so I ask about the special or for recommendations - I’ve thoroughly enjoyed everything I’ve tried. Their burritos and baked goods never disappoint, and they sell bags of good quality coffee to brew at home.
First time here and I definitely will come back. I tried the Mexican Mocha Latte and it’s lovely. Granted I asked them to be light on the spicy because I’m not the spicy type lol. The ladies knew how to balance it out without taking it away from the drink. Great friendly service! Thanks ladies!!!!
Sweetest owners & amazing drinks. Mexican mocha & breakfast burrito are 🔥. Get whatever baked good they have. It’ll be good.
I have been coming here for the past couple of years and I have always had the best experience! Melissa and Kacey (sorry if I spelled this wrong) are the absolute sweetest and even know my order by heart. We always have a great conversation and they never fail to make my morning better. Definitely check this place out if you want a delicious coffee and breakfast burrito and/or pastry.
Moonbird Coffee had a great vibe - its like walking into an old Western saloon and ordering your favorite beverage from the bar. And the coffee is GREAT
I stop here for coffee every Friday morning. They have great pastries and coffee and a cool atmosphere. The friggin coffee cake is amazing. Plus the owners are really cool and personable! Support them!
Top notch and way better then a certain national chain. Chai tea latte with banana unbelievably good thank you for the suggestion!!
This is a long overdue review, but I want to start out bu saying I love this place. I have been going to Moonbird for at least 2 years now. Never really been disappointed and highly recommend going here. It’s always great to support local businesses (especially in these uncertain times).
Only available for take away and outdoor seating right now.
Great tasting coffee with very friendly service and staff! Love getting the cold brew there, and the breakfast burritos are pretty delicious.
A quiet, cozy mix of trendy and quaint tucked away in Chamblee. The coffee shop, occupying the bar of South Bounds upstairs event space, feels a bit like a concept that hasnt come into its own. Even so, it seems to be an effective partnership keeping the building busy before the restaurant opens. We noticed they have a projection screen set up where the stage would be during private events. It was a nice touch (cartoons for the kids!), but detracted from the quaint appeal of the decor and interrupted a lovely brick wall. If I might be so bold, Id suggest removing the screen and simply whitewashing the brick for a more aesthetic effect.Of course atmosphere alone wont sustain a cafe.My wife and I tried the Mexican Mocha, a blueberry muffin, and a sweet potato pie. None of it was disappointing, but the pie was a particular pleasure. Also, the warmth of cayenne pepper or chili powder in the latte was perfect for a cold Autumn morning.Overall, the cafe menu is simple & streamlined. They cover all the essential bases, and dont waste time with a big variety of speciality drinks. Unfortunately, that simplicity doesnt jive with the ornate setting. Moonbird is a grab-and-go coffee bar in a big, cozy, sit down space. Happily, the coffee is delicious so its a minor complaint. If we lived in the neighborhood, this would easily become my daily haunt. I dont know that its worth driving across town for. If its a bit of a hike for you, maybe plan your visit so that you can enjoy the main restaurant as well.
The cutest atmosphere and the friendliest service! The owners are super down to earth and really seem to care about their community. And amazing coffee of course.
Im sorry, but how do you do a decent business being open 4.5 hours a day four days a week?
Checked out Moonbird for the first time this morning and the coffee is as good as advertised! The chorizo hash burrito was delicious, though I do admit it was a bit bigger. Grabbed a 16oz cold brew, which is very tasty, and a 16oz house blend cup, which is also great. Id probably stick with the cold brew, but its also sub-30 here in Atlanta for once.
I visited this coffee place for the first time this past weekend after wanting to try it out for a long time. It’s so adorable. Every little thing from the exposed brick, the mismatched wooden chairs, to the train views... tied together so well to create a cozy and intimate setting. Perfect for the enjoyment of a smooth cup of coffee. They also offer a few pastry items. I tried the sweet potato pie and have to say it’s the best I’ve ever had! Please try it if you get the chance.
My new favorite coffee shop in Atlanta! Im an engineering graduate student, so I consume a LOT of caffeine on the daily and the coffee here is excellent. I also really appreciate the beautiful, calm space. I wish they were open later, but its worth going out of my way to make it here before 2:30 PM.
Their black bean burrito is sooo good, have to make it there early to snag one though!
Local coffee shops are few and far between in Chamblee. However, this would be the only place you need! Service is incredible as well as their coffee! Everything about Moonbird is spot on
Finally found a cafe that has good options for those of us that have never been converted to coffee. Chai, matcha and pictured below (sinful Mexican hot chocolate). Its located above the Southbound restaurant and has ample seating. They even make their own breads. Thank goodness I dont live super close or my waistline might not last. 😆
Fantastic neighborhood coffee shop with pastries and breakfast burritos and a damn fine cup of coffee. There’s often a pop-up of some sort there, too which adds to the food choices. With Saturday morning cartoons on the big screen (Saturday mornings are the best) and plenty of seating, Moonbird is worth a couple hours of your day! Pictured is my breakfast from today.
What a fabulous little coffee place. Friendly and welcoming, both the baristas and the atmosphere. The Mexican mocha latte was perfection, the balance of spicy heat, the slight sweetness and bitterness of the chocolate, a perfect pull of espresso, and the creaminess of the steamed milk. If I lived locally, I would drink these daily! I also enjoyed a burrito which was delicious, well filled and not all wrapper, like so many are.The atmosphere is great too, eclectic and fun with exposed brick walls, open beamed ceilings and large windows. Well spaced tables with mix and match chairs allow for plenty of seating options. The room on a grey day was a bit dark but still bright enough to work. Awesome place, can’t wait to return!
Cute coffee shop! Came here before I was taking my car to get service and was perfect stop. Lattes are well served and staff was very friendly. Parking was easily accessible - there is a lot with many spaces. You have the opportunity to enjoy your coffee on the balcony. They had some television on a large screen. It was peaceful and had a good atmosphere. Didn’t see too many outlets though so if you’re looking to do work make sure your technology is charged before.
Great people and Great coffee!
Ive always loved this place and their coffee (and lavender latte in particular), but am extra impressed with their serious Covid protections: required masking, take-out only, one way through the queue. Theyre taking their customers and staffs health seriously.
Enjoyed my dirty chai latte here. Prices are comparable to boutique coffee shops. The barista was friendly and carried a conversation while making my drink.Theres free parking. To get to the shop, you go through the restaurant by taking your first right and then go up the stairs. The atmosphere is laid back and open. You dont feel crammed inside. There are extension cords which makes it conducive to working there for awhile. Definitely will be returning.
This was my second time meeting a small group of friends for a socially distanced, morning coffee chat at Moonbird. This was the second time that I was overwhelmed by the customer service, drink quality, and overall warmth of the business. Between the three of us ladies on our two trips there, weve had everything from their matcha latte to their Mexican hot chocolate to a regular coffee and the baristas treated each drink with equal care. What a rarity in the world of local coffee joints! They have a great, open patio with ample seating which is ideal during these times. We got caught in the rain the first time we visited and they helped us find an outside spot to sit that was dry and covered. Talk about above and beyond! They care about the people that walk through their doors and its clear that they are aiming to create lifetime relationships with their customers. This is sort of relationship building is what separates fly by night businesses from your neighborhood spot that feels like home. Moonbird is our go-to meet up place now because we know well be taken care of every time we walk through their doors!
Perfect little coffee bar and its so close to my job!!! Very friendly, prompt service! 10/10 will be getting coffee here more often.
Miss this coffee shop. Such a quaint space to sit and relax in, as well.Edited after reopening: this coffee shop continues to be an amazing spot. Very COVID safe with some tasty breakfast options as well - love their burritos.
Love the atmosphere and they make delicious drinks!! Such a great spot, they even have a nice patio for outdoor seating as well!
Wonderful coffee. The breakfast burritos are the best
Unique delicacies. Terrific coffee. Spacious seating arrangement for groups or to sit alone. I love Moonbird coffee. Best of all is the service. You are treated well here and this is my favorite coffee shop in town!
Atlanta is a great place to visit, and everyone who visits needs a home away from home. For us it turned out to be Moonbird. The coffee is great, there are tasty pastry treats, and if you ask, there are really nice little breakfast items like a black been burrito, and scrumptious quiche, depending on the day of the week. Its clear they get a lot of repeat business and it is also clear why; they actually care about their customers and talk to them. There were a number of people working online over their coffee and another contingent just relaxing over coffee. Its a real neighborhood business with some very real business savvy behind it.
This cafe is above a restaurant, just ask the hostess if youre confused how to get up to it. Excellent coffee, freindly service and a chill atmosphere. The building is very cool too.
This is Tyler’s No Nonsense Review:Moonbird coffee is a really great, eclectic coffee shop on the second floor. The coffee is fresh and tasty, there is a nice dedicated parking lot, and the staff is very friendly. If you want to get away from the chain places, come give it a try!
Awesome coffee, drip and espresso. Try the Mexican Mocha. Snacks and breakfast burritos are delicious and fresh (there are gluten free options). The ambience is second to none in 10 square miles (you cant beat the second floor of Southbound) and the owners are the bomb and super friendly. Chamblee is lucky to have Moonbird.
Moonbird Coffee makes my heart sing. The environment is lovely with a good amount of natural lighting by the windows. The coffee tastes fantastic.
I LOVE this cute coffee shop! What a great atmosphere to work or have a coffee date in. The coffee is absolutely delicious too! And the baristas are so friendly. Thanks for giving Chamblee such a gem, moon bird
So cute. I love the ambiance! Also, the customer service was awesome, super friendly and conversational. I had the Mexican Latte and it was SO good; that little zest of spice was ON POINT. Definitely will get that again. I also had one of the gluten-free muffins, carrot and pecan (I feel like sucha adult ordering a gluten-free carrot and pecan muffin ), it was really good as well. I had to take mine to go. Cant wait to come back with a lap top or book and chill.
I had been to the restaurant below in the past, but Moonbird Coffee is an outstanding find! Great coffee, great staff, great breakfast/snack options and a great setting. Enjoy the shaded outdoor terrace if the weather is nice or the beautiful, large space inside year around. Certainly a place I recommend and will return to!
Coffee was great! I had a cappuccino, but have heard great things about the Mexican Mocha as well. I had the “Chorizo and Potato Hash Breakfast Burrito,” and it tasted great. Paired well with a bit of Valentino hot sauce. My total bill was under $10.The atmosphere has a “hipster” vibe to it, but you’ll find people of all ages here. I went to work here on a Saturday morning, and it was a great environment until they had live music. I’m sure that live performances are great to have in the evenings, and half the crowd seemed to be enjoying themselves, but the other half was visibly annoyed as many people were trying to get some work done and the music was very distracting.
The coffee and potato bread were delicious. And the ambience is very nice. I will visit again.
This is an awesome little spot. Quiet place to relax, work or share some coffee with a friend or two.
First time here. I’m in love. My new favorite coffee shop. Hummingbird bread is divine. The atmosphere is so laid-back and the baristas are just super awesome and friendly. Only suggestion i have is to add power outlets for laptops. Overall: Love it, love it, love it!!!
A quiet coffe shop. Good service and ambiance with all the usual coffee choices, plus some unusual ones if you’re looking to try something new.
This is the type of place where no furniture matches. Tables look reasonably similar but chairs are probably grabbed from all the garages in the neighborhood and hardly match each other. It signifies the fact that coffeeshops are not about looks but more about bringing community together or achieving an individual daily victory such as work, study and reading.Coffee is great and service is greater.
Great coffee, friendly staff, and very cozy and comfortable atmosphere! It’s a hidden gem for sure. Can’t wait to go back!
Nice coffee place in a cool spot, outdoor seating that is available for dogs. Great breakfast burritos (veggie option). Friendly service.
Quiet place to work. Friendly, with good coffee. The coffee piece should be first actually.
Im not going to praise the place the way it deserves because I want it to stay just the way it is. Yes, thats a compliment. Coffee, atmosphere, parking, service. Top notch, soothing, unique.
It is a great place to have coffee and visit. The Moonbird Drip Coffee is very good, The Mexican Hot Chocolate is exceptional! With a piece of zucchini bread it was a very nice start to the day.
I love Moonbird Coffee. It’s one of Atlanta’s top coffee shops to go to. Moonbird coffee is one of those hidden gems that is pack with so much charcther and has that southern hospitality. The baristas are so sweet, if you don’t know what to order they will help you choose. I love the Mexican latte, it’s sweet and spicy. Definitely a great spot to study, have a meeting or go on a cute date.
Absolutely love Moonbird, above Southbound which is pretty and so nice and cozy. Great coffee, teas and treats. Yummy vegan zucchini bread. Great atmosphere, low music and friendly people.
A very relaxing, hip place. The service was very friendly and they have a fabulous drink selection. I highly recommend the Mexican Mocha. Casey is great!
My husband and I stopped by Moonbird Coffee early Friday morning. It was awesome. Kacee was great. We enjoyed talking about the coffee and pastries. I am definitely going back. It is a great place to work as well.
A great local coffee shop above Southbound. The house coffee was great along with some of the pastries they offered. I also appreciated that they were selling girl scout cookies.
Moonbird is local, personable, and homey. I feel like Im being invited into a morning-time secret club every time Im in. Love the vibe and love the excellent coffee. The Mexican mocha is my favorite. ❤️☕🌶️
Coolest atmosphere and ambience Ive seen in a coffee shop ever. High quality coffee. Comfortable and quiet environment, definitely conducive to working there.
Awesome space to sit and work, or to just hang out. I love the atmosphere, the drinks are bomb, and the staff is super friendly.
This place is a little hard to find as you have to go through a restaurant to get to it. Good vibe, nice open place with natural light, to work from a laptop or whatever. The music selection and the chai could use some tweaking. The pastries were good.
Really love the laid back atmosphere and the baristas were very friendly. On top of that, the drinks were pretty awesome. Try the Mexican Latte when you visit!
I enjoyed my mocha very much, good robust flavor. I will definitely be back again soon. Prices are fair and the shop is beautiful inside and out.
So far my favorite coffee shop. Not many people can make a cubano well but hers is one of the best Ive had. An eclectic atmosphere and wide open space with exposed brick. The pastries are a must try, they are Made locally and change often. If you love coffee then youll love Moonbird Coffee.
Always good. Relaxing atmosphere and friendly, unhurried people.
Very warm and comfortable space above Southbound. Low key, good simple coffee options and some baked goods available. Nice quiet place to relax on a Saturday morning.
Relax in comfortable setting with a book or laptop and enjoy excellent coffee or tea. Upstairs of Southbound restaurant (also very good).
What a cool little place! Its a hidden gem now, but word of mouth will grow this place. The drip coffee was great. Id love to see more food options!
Awesome new place!! The atmosphere is perfect with its vintage/rustic decor and the coffee and pastries are delicious! Everything is local and organic! Loved it and great service!
Nicest staff and great coffee! Also a great place to work.
A nice place to get your coffee and local music!
Very lovely place! The best coffee and super nice staff!!
Very nice atmosphere. I had the soy matcha latte and it was good. Perfect amount of foam and the matcha isnt bright green so it probably isnt dyed. Spacious and comfortable rustic atmosphere. Above Southbound.
This is a beautiful local coffee shop. The barista was so kind! If youre looking for a good place to have a coffee and read, this is the place to be.
The coffee is phenomenal and the interior aesthetic of the shop is beautifully put together. Very hand made vibe all around, which I love.
Great coffee and nice atmosphere. Definitely recommend it.
Top notch place to chill in the morning and have a great cup of coffee. If you go once, then you will come back again. There is just no way this place will continue to be Chamblees best kept secret.
Amazing atmosphere and solid customer service. Coffee is excellent. I love Moonbird!
Great coffee shop. Great ambiance and space for hanging out.
Grsat coffee and live music. Great place to hang out or meet clients at.
I am SO happy that we stumbled upon Moonbird Coffee!! The coffee is outstanding, whether their fancy lattes and mochas or their cold brew nitro. They have great options for those of us who cant do dairy. The people are awesome. They are friendly and helpful, with a warm sense of family and appreciation for their customers both as customers and people. My ONLY complaint is that I cant walk there from my house! Keep up the great work and the Saturday cartoons.
Super friendly service, outstanding coffee, and wonderful breakfast burritos.. If you havent been yet.. Do what you must to change that but of misfortune..
Moonbird is a great place to work, relax, meet a friend, or just get out of the house. Casey is the best barista in town and knows how to make a mean Mexican Mocha.
I absolutely love it here! The atmosphere is rustic and inviting, service is always great, and the owner is lovely.
