My visit was brief, if I wasn’t talking with the owner he felt like management. Was inquiring about a game and we talked prices and I was comparable to possibly better from other “local” game shops I’ve been talking with. Definitely coming back and following up.The space itself is big. Lots of tables, cards and board games where organized and everything looked clean, no funny smells. All in all thumbs up :)

This place is pretty great! Magic and miniature games with a little board game corner. They also have some PCs you can pay to use.

Friendly staff, orders are filled quickly, and they almost always have lower prices than online retailers. Highly recommend them.

First turn is THE place for MTG (magic the gathering) in cedar rapids and pretty much linn county entirely. Amazing space for FNM and tournaments. Also the place for war hammer, dnd, and a pretty cool collection of arcade / pin ball machines.

The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The shop has a great selection of board games and magic singles. They host regular events in a friendly environment and are incredibly welcoming to newcomers who want to join the community theyve created.

I was in town for a wedding and figured I’d stop by. Absolutely phenomenal store. Large stock with excellent prices. The staff was extremely pleasant to work with and the players welcomed me warmly. Definitely the standard for what an LGS should aspire to be. Although in a small town, First Turn made a big impact. Well done.

Great staff, very friendly. There is always a big turn out for events of super awesome people. Other customers are very helpful and usually always willing to trade if you bring your binders. The staff is fun and great to chat with. They will give suggestions for decks if they are not slammed. Its great to have knowledgeable friendly staff that will help you out when you need it. Their prices are the cheapest in town or darn close. They go off tcgplayer for magic card traded so its nice to know exactly what you are going to get. They have a great selection of your dream cards that you wish you could afford!!

Beautiful store with just about any nerd desire you could imagine. If they dont have it, theyll get it for you in a flash. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The owner truly cares about the community that he is building and has been a part of it for more than a decade.

People are always friendly, and if you cant find what you want they will order it for you. They host special events all the time to help people find their place in the gaming community. Local game shop. All types of card games, board games, dice games, and they are kind and knowledgable about everything they sell and more. They are always helpful when I have a question and you can tell they truly appreciate our business.

My son and I went in to check it out and found that staff to be incredibly helpful. We came back a couple hours later for game night. Definitely a place we will frequent.

Has its own atmosphere, the owner is very friendly. Its a game store, they have community activities throughout each month for those that havent played before, Board Games Day; holds tournaments every Friday, and broadcasts Magic Tournaments outside of that. Its a great place for Magic players and pinball fanatics, and other board game enthusiasts. Basically a nerds dream. You can order online.

Awesome staff, I went in and despite something being set up a staff member asked me if I needed help. When I was done he was super nice and asked about the Dungeons and Dragons campaign I was going to start (I had bought a bunch of D&D guides).

Im just into pinball (so anything else I will not know about). They have several pinball machines and are continuing to buy more! The Addams Family machine did have one problem. The new sterns were working fine.

The best LGS I could find in the Iowa area. I had a really good time playing EDH with the community here. Its important to say that they have a FNM Commander 1v1 Tournament. In that tournament they have a different banlist than normal.

FTG is a great haven for anyone into gaming.

Atmosphere felt welcoming, which can sometimes be hard to find when youre a female going to a mostly male populated gaming store.
