Stopped by on a whim and was impressed with the service and selection. I really felt like she wanted to help me and not just going through the motions. A small shop, but packed to the ceiling with hobby goodness. I will be going back and would recommend others to check them out.

Wonderful staff who feel more like family than employees. I have been going for 20 years now and I do not buy my modeling supplies anywhere else. It is always a treat to go in and look around for box games, models, and books.

Wonderful little shop. The staff was all friendly and willing to answer any questions. The variety was great. Minis, paints, model cars, planes, tanks, etc. Also a wide selection of games (with great prices).They have been in this same location for over 45 years and you can see why.We even forgot our receipt and she walk around the corner where we told her we had parked just to make sure we had it.Its great to support a nice local shop!

When they were still in Stockton, CA years back (80s) they started me on my model building. They still have the same kitbashed spaceship hanging from their ceiling at this location that they had in Stockton.

Models, Tabletop Games, minitures, Paints, Tools, plus more, and on top of that a friendly and knowledable staff makes this shop of gem of the area. It is not a giant store with 1000s of models, instead it is a modest shop, packed with amazing goodies! It has been around since the 70s and Im sure will be here for the decades to come!

They offer a wide variety of models, modeling supplies, and board games. If they dont have a model or modeling supplies that you need they will order it on request. Theres a reason theres so many five star reviews. They have an awful lot of items,despite the small shop. If they dont have exactly what you want, they will have something from the same range so you can check it out, and then order the exact item. They will also have or suggest alternatives. When you order something, they always communicate with you, letting you know if there is delay or something.If youre not sure exactly what you want, then they will have several suggestions. Always worth visiting

To start, its been about a year since I visited the store. Not because I dont have the desire to return (in fact I do)... It has more to do with the finance LOL.look, for those of us old enough to remember what a hobby shop should be like, if you remember the sites in the feeling you got when you walked into one when you were a kid, like we couldnt absorb everything you were seeing because of all the stimuli loaded in front of your eyes well then, yeah this is that place!they represent various types of hobbies here scale model building, gaming and so forth. My niece happens b model airplanes and they have a great selection scale model kits and all sorts of paints and other accessories that you might need to complete your hobby. The people that work there are exceedingly nice and helpful, and friendly and down-to-earth.It was a time when most every city had a hobby shop sort of like this. But that was in a day and age were young people and old alike often gravitated towards building model kits, and using their hands for something other than video games. Im afraid afraid those days are all but gone. That makes the store kind of a dinosaur in a way but its one that I love to go to. In fact, Im so taken with this place that I drive a great distance oh, that is from Modesto all the way to Sacramento just to visit this place when I can.Yes, you can get most of the stuff online. But that takes away from the experience. And while I dont live in Sacramento I try and support businesses oh, that is brick and mortar business is the best I can. I do shop on Amazon and eBay and all those other places just like everyone else, but I made a conscious decision to try and buy from the ground level when I can.If youre anything like me and you get absorbed by the type of magic that a hobby shop evokes then youll have a good time here. I can easily walk in and kill an hour just walking around, and stuff in my pocket, and just looking at everything they have. It takes a disciplined mind to try to not buy everything in the store. In fact, I aint trying to leave my credit cards at home because I could easily get carried away here. Still, I always manage to buy something even if its something as small as a bottle of paint or something enormous like a b-29 Superfortress in 1/48 scale. I like supporting the little guy.What else can I say? its a sort of thing sounds peeling to you and come on down. You wont regret it.

This store is small, but absolutely packed with board games. They have a decent selection of gaming miniatures too. Go in when you have a little time, they hand write receipts and are a little slower without a scanner. Still a 5 star experience!

Absolutely love this little shop. Staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Not only do they help with suggestions but also dont pressure you to buy anything. Talking with the owner inspires me to play as many games as possible. Just wish I had more people to play with. Severally hard to leave with only 1 or 2 games. Great atmosphere.

This place is by far the most awesome nostalgic store when it comes out tabletop games or hobby stores in-town. The interior gives you that 80s feel, and whats great is its ran by sweet lady whos been in the business for years.Granted their selection of minis is not as large as other surrounding tabletop stores, the store owner would be able to work with you to order that Mino or whatever you need for your tabletop or hobby needs.I highly recommend this place, even just to stop by and check out all the cool stuff.

I just love Viking Hobby. The people that work there are really nice and helpful and they’ve been doing it for years. I also love how it’s just tucked into a random tiny strip mall in the middle of suburban Arden Arcade. The shop is such a throwback to the old days of hobby modeling and gaming.

What a cool find! If you are into brain twisting board games you need to come here! Into Dungeons & Dragons? Lord of the Rings? Harry Potter? War games and Wizards? Check this place out! Its so need to see how many unique games this place has. This will definitely not be my last visit!

Great place for model-builders & board-gamers. Emphasis is on all things historical & military but they have a smattering of space & fantasy games & models. Plus they have reference books and plenty of paint. If you dont see it, ask: it could be there.

I used to come here about thirty years ago with my father...I just brought my own daughter in for the first time. Stores like this are becoming increasingly rare. Theres no substitute for the vast amount of institutional knowledge that lives in the heads of the long-time proprietors. This was my GO TO place in the 90s for my gaming fix (Yes they have been open, at the same location for 4o some odd years). I made a recent trip to Sacramento to visit some friends and stopped by to see if Jessica (the owner) was in. She greeted me by name and asked how I was doing, what I was up to, etc.They are VERY knowledgeable on current (and past) games and will special order if it is not in stock. The shop is nothing fancy, but is packed to the roof with models, games and accessories. Definitely a place to stop in to browse, talk and buy games.

I first came to Viking Hobby when I came to California in 1978, while in the Air Force stationed at Mather AFB now Mather Air Field. I grew up in Ohio and had a number of shops to choose from and I have to say this shop brings back many warm memories of the old Guy/Lady that worked the counter, helping me to pick out my next model project. Unfortunately this breed is a fading treasure that most dont understand the value of. Sure you can get models cheaper on Amazon or E-Bay or Squadron, etc.. etc... But you cant replace the years of knowledge. Im 62 now retired here in Sacramento and I do purchase from other outlets (Ive a bit of knowledge now), but I still go to Viking to support the store and hopefully keep this priceless asset for the youngsters now to discover. Keep up the great work folks.

30 years ago, when I was a lad, this was where I bought my first games. Its still run by the same great people. Its been a neighborhood fixture for ages.Great service, great selection, a HUGE amount of expertise, packed into a tiny storefront. I could not rate Viking too highly. If youre into games or military models, this is the place you need to go.

Ive visited Viking Hobbies on and off since I was little and I love this store.Theres a huge selection of board games and models. More importantly this is the only store in the area Ive seen selling Reaper paint, and tons of miniatures from alternate sculpters. Dark Sword, Frostgrave, and Old Glory to name a few.

Only place in the greater Sacramento area that has Gundam (aka gunpla)

Ive been coming here for many years. Great place for plastic models, planes, ships and armor. Wonderful selection of paints and supplies as well as books and magazines for the modeller. Sure, you might be able to get that model cheaper online but being able to support a local hobby shop is well worth the small extra price. They can order anything tou find online. The staff is very helpful and friendly. You get a discount if youre an IPMS member.

I love supporting stores like this. They arent friendly in just the normal sense. They are genuinely nice people who will treat you extremely well, care about you, and strive to help you.I dont know how theyd treat a rude, demanding, and unreasonable person. Honestly, I hope that they dont have to deal with those people often. I really value this kind of small store and I hope they continue as long as they want to keep doing what they do. I will go out of my way, and pay more, to do business here instead of a box store or a giant online outlet.
