Came here tonight for dinner and everything was really good. We chose the family style dining which was all you can eat fried chicken, baked ham, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, buttered noodles, apple sauce, gravy, bread, butter or apple butter. For dessert we chose apple crumb pie with ice cream and shoefly pie with ice cream. The atmosphere was really friendly with a gift shop and bakery downstairs. Well worth the short wait and the money.
Family style buffet. There are large tables set up in rows. Tables have 12-15 seats. We went on a Friday night, waited roughly 20 minutes in line, then another hour to be seated. Which is not bad for the amount of people there. So if you dont have 1-2 hours to wait to eat, dont go here! A server brings your food to you family style. They work hard, so expect to tip them for their hard work! After being seated, there is pickled pepper cabbage & apple sauce to eat while you wait for your server. There is fried chicken, roast beef, cubed ham, peas, corn, mashed potatoes, homemade bread, gravy, chocolate ice cream, wet bottom shoo fly & pumpkin pie. Very delicious, except for the cubed ham. I did not like this at all, way too much brown sugar, it was like eating a desert, not a fan, I dont like sweet meats.$27.50 for adults, $16.00 for a 12 year old. I give this place 5 stars for the food & service & 2 stars for the atmosphere. This is not like a restaurant style buffet, people are close together, you sit with strangers. We sat with a family of 4. The wife & kids were nice, but the husband was horrible!! He talked nonsense & stupidity the entire meal. He was just intolerable!! I felt so bad for his family, it was very embarrassing, & extremely awkward. So needless to say that was not an enjoyable meal for me & my family. The tables are close together. The table to the right of us had 12 adults & 6 children all under age 5. The kids were running around the tables, playing in the aisles, & hiding under tables. The parents just let them run loose & the servers had to walk over them to get to the tables. There was no parental supervision at this table. The adults were conversing & letting these kids run amuck in the restaurant. The table directly behind us hasd a newborn infant that screamed, whaled, & cried the entire meal. So overall not a good experience!! If you enjoy eating in peace & quiet I DO NOT recommend this place!! I had a migraine when I left here. Sure I ate well, but it wasnt worth the headache for me. Im giving a generous 3 stars. You can have the best food in the world, but you need to be able to relax & enjoy that meal. I most certainly did not enjoy my meal experience here.
Overrated and they probably were good before, but the Amish sampler that consisted of meat loaf, fried chicken, pork with sauerkraut was very disappointing. The chicken was kinda old(refried probably), meat loaf tasted straight from the can. We also ordered the spinach and grilled chicken salad, but the chicken was rubbery, the greens wilted. The server Connor was really very helpful and did his best to make us feel welcome. Amish chicken pot pie was like a frozen dinner . It was plenty, but not good.
Exceptionally authentic, hot & fresh, non processed dishes, just right portions & level of sweetness to the desserts, and holy cow the value for all of it. Not to mention the cozy, homey atmosphere, timely & courteous service, and a gift shop where you can take home anything from delicious bakery items, to shot glasses that read I love Intercourse PA, and everything in-between. Looking very forward to my next visit.
Ok, I tried this spot due to a recommendation from an Amish woman. I personally liked Katies Kitchen more for authentic Amish food. Lets see, this place was good that I can see whats cooking due to the open kitchen. The applesauce was okay, the wedding meal was weird but okay, the peppa slaw was fine, the mash was good. The refresher was very very light with sugar but that was fine with me. Im not sure whether Id be back but might come back for a breakfast meal. The server was super duper nice!
Weve been going here for years, since the restaurant was actually just the farmhouse! Its bigger now, but service is still great. Good regional PA Dutch food at reasonable prices. If youre in the Lancaster area, take a side trip and try this place out. The current hours are different than listed online, so call ahead.
The staff was so nice and inviting as soon as we entered the building. The family style dinning experience is definitely new to me, (sitting at a hs cafeteria type table with random people). I really enjoyed it though, met a few nice people and the food was good. The fried chicken and mash potatoes was official chicke gravy boat was clutch. My girl got the meatloaf it was good too. They have a family style all you can eat option for $26 per person. If you have the appetite for all that seems worth it to me. They have a nice gift shop too
Was somewhat disappointed. We ate off the menu dining side. Had the open faced roast beef sandwich with gravy fries and coleslaw. They dont give you enough food on your plate. I would have ate better at Cracker Barrell.
Food and service was okay. The prix fixe menu for the all I can eat is over price at 27.50. If you dont like the few items for the prix fixe menu or dont have a big appetite, your out almost 30 bucks.
The food was okay. Country comfort food. Price good for the individual meals. Very few veggies. Service was excellent!
Good food the restaurant could use a little updating especially upstairs I wasnt sure if I was at a church picnic or a family reunion. I like the idea of being served the all you can eat option in an at home family style approach. Im just not to sure about someone picking my food out for me. Ex fried chicken. The breasts are cut into pieces. For the price Id like the whole breast just saying. Overall staff is definitely family oriented and make you feel right at home. I think for the location and very high tourism this is a great approach but could use some fine tuning
Expensive, clean, friendly waitresses but its set up a little weird. Tables were long lifetime banquet tables which was weird. Food was ok. Fried chicken was dry like it had been in a hot box for a while. Desserts were the best of everything I ate.
My friend and I were here in September during the Balloon Festival weekend. We chose to do menu dining since both of us are particular in the meats we like. I decided to get the turkey dinner and it didnt disappoint. The portions were huge. I struggled to finish my last few bites of food. Very busy place and a very friendly staff.
Came here for dinner on a Tuesday night and it was packed! We had to wait 40mins for a table but it was good! I would advise getting there early because everything was almost sold out when we got there! Thank goodness the fried chicken was still there! Its pretty good! I loved the buttered noodles. Tip I actually dipped the turkey in the apple butter and it was amazing! Oh my they are deffintly not healthy! The store closes at 7 but we were there till at least 8ish . I got a whoopie pie for the trip back and it was good! The cookie part tasted kinda of old but it was good!
Had a great Family Style dinner. Fried chicken, country ham and Tilapia with many great sides. Cracker pudding is delicious. Not many old time places serving family style left. Service was very good. They change main dishes and sides so its always different. One of best eateries in Lancaster
I have been here numerous times with family and friends and each time we come its a brand new experience. Its fun getting to know the people they seat at the table. Since there vision is the family style seating. Since Covid hit, they take all the measures for the 6 feet apart policy which I liked. The food is absolutely tasty.. Amazing flavor and presentation.. its really best described as heaven in every bite. The other policy is what eat at the table stay at the table. No left over food is permitted to be taken home.Which is understandable. My rating for this awesome establishment with always be a 10. But here I will give you a 5+ rating. I am already excited about the next time we come! 😍❤💛
Wow!!! Our hotel front desk person recommended this restaurant and what a wonderful suggestion it was. The experience was worth the wait! Get reservations if you can before going! Once seated, the food and drinks were brought promptly and efficiently! The table service was excellent thereafter! The food was plentiful and delicious! Cant say enough good things - this is a DO NOT MISS THE OPPORTUNITY TO EAT HERE IF YOU ARE IN THE AREA. Great job you all!!! Thank you !!
I love this restaurant. Its my go to place when Im visiting, Sights and Sounds. The food is like homemade, the service is pleasant, the gift shop is filled with great variety and the bakery OMG fresh pie, cookies and more. Do not drive pass this restaurant, make a stop. You wont regret it.
We took our youth group here for dinner and we had the family style. They served us: fried chicken (yummy), roast beef (dry), ham (juicy and delicious), homemade mashed potatoes (yummy, perfectly Salted), gravy (flavorful with little itty bitty bits of onion), beets, corn, fresh made bread with homemade apple butter and fresh butter (eat the bread its delicious with the homemade toppings), brown butter noodles (I was skeptical because I usually dont like Amish butter noodles, but these were unique and yummy.Desert: apple pie (apples were a little harder than I prefer but it was good. A little to much crust and crumble to apple ratio though), shoo-fly pie (you either like it or dont), homemade vanilla and chocolate ice cream (the creamiest ice cream ever), saltine cracker pudding (a good flavor of coconut but such a weird texture).Drinks: fresh lemonade, unsweetened tea (this was nice and strong and I loved it), water and coffee.I enjoyed the family style, however, I wish there wasnt such a waste of food. Please note that we were told the tip was included in our price, but it was not. Our poor waitress had to find one of us to let us know. And she did such a wonderful job of keeping everything refreshed and full we felt terrible. We were sure to give her the tip she deserved!
Wow!The place is good, so expect a crowd. The staff seemed a little stressed (may be the Saturday crowd). So there wasnt any of the usual pleasantries. Accounting for the crowd, we opted for the take-out. Our order took only 20 minutes. If we disregard the few not so pleasing experiences with the clerk, the food was amazing. We look forward to driving a few 100 miles for that fried chicken again.
I ordered the Dutch Sampler with fried chicken, meatloaf, turkey, dressing, and a side salad. The meatloaf and dressing was intolerable. Our server was attentive and polite.
Cant say enough about this place. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was to die for. My I had the fried chicken. The crust had great seasoning and the chicken nice and juicy. You have to try the stuffing. Best Ive ever had. Only bad was that I didnt have enough room left to try the shoo fly pie.
Loved the fried chicken, chow-chow and brown buttered noodles! The bread, butter and apple butter was out of this world delicious! Would have given 5 stars but the pork & sauerkraut and the meatloaf were not good. Will go back again.😁
Very busy when visiting but well worth the wait. Fried chicken was excellent as were the side dishes. Waitress was very good as well checking on us and getting whatever we needed. Definitely a great experience.
My family and I first ate at this now famous restaurant when it opened over 50 years ago. My childhood memories of the fried chicken and mashed potatoes is one of the many reasons I come back to Lancaster every year. There’s something in the food that is addicting, but it’s probably just the farm fresh ingredients. I also remember as a child being uncomfortable with family style dining with strangers, but that’s my issue not theirs! The fact is that family style is the best way to enjoy the food. It’s not about the unlimited amount of food they serve, but rather it’s about eating food immediately after it’s prepared. My wife and I have tried the menu dining option several times over the years and have often felt like we were getting the leftovers from the family style dining room. For menu dining you’re better off at Bird n Hand or Miller’s. Last night we ordered a bucket of chicken with fixings to go and it was once again every bit as good as I remembered. The trick to takeout is to be there before they tell you it will be ready so the food is not sitting there for God knows how long. When I ordered the food the person who took my order was a bit arrogant and quickly corrected me that the chicken is fried, not “broasted”. My bad. The bottom line is that this is still one of the best places in Lancaster for delicious Amish home cooking. Choose family style or take out and I promise you’ll have a craving for the food forever!
I thought the food left much to be desired. I came with my family for my fathers birthday. My grandmother has been here many times before and loves the food. I didnt like any of the dishes. The chicken, potatoes and coleslaw were bland and the food wasnt hot. My grandmother was also disappointed during this visit. She swears the food has been better. I wouldnt go back.
The food was all delicious. Each member of my family couldnt get enough of the ham loaf, the roast beef and their mashed potatoes. We all enjoyed our family style meal with plenty of refills/reorders. The staff is also very friendly. Cant wait to return again soon.
Lovely place. Theres a shop to look through while waiting to be seated. Staff, especially Sarah, were very pleasant and helpful. Food was plentiful and fresh. Bread was homemade, soft and so good with apple butter. I bought a jar home. Sooo good!
The family loved it. The pot roast, buttered noodles and mashed potatoes were our favorites.
Since we only had 2 adults and 1 child. We opted to order menu style....ordered the Dutch Sample and chicken pie. Everything were delicious...especially thy fried chicken! Conor was our server and he was so nice and sweet. Food came out very quick and we had great service. Will definitely come back next time were in town.
This review is only for what the restaurant is doing, for their customers, in a PANDEMIC.We always enjoyed this restaurant on our frequent trips to Lancaster. However, I called to ask about procedures and masking at this very dangerous time. Apparently, NO mask required for employees or patrons! Tables as usual, close together. Even though I am vaccinated, I only go to restaurants that care about their customers! I wonder if they knowthe Delta variant is rampant. I also wonderhow many people have Covid19. Shame on them! Im so disappointed in this restaurant!
We were there yesterday which would have been Monday for dinner the place was packed the lines were long but the best thing we only had to wait about 10-15 minutes and we were at our table. Half of its family style and the other half of the restaurant is menu ordering, we picked the family style my wife and I and had the best waitress ever and the food was just out of this world. That means great fantastic and wonderful and a dessert what we had was homemade apple pie with homemade vanilla ice cream and it was super a little pricey maybe but between the service and the food it was well worth it cant wait to get back in this area to eat again
People want to eat here because it’s sort of famous. But you might want to reconsider. We ate at from the menu, not the smorgasbord. I had the sampler and the meatloaf was undescribable and I sent it back. The first fried chicken, dark meat, was good, but the second piece that replaced the meatloaf was like rubber. The pork and sauerkraut was good.I recommend having the brown buttered noodles which were very good and the fried corn nuggets with syrup (though it was not maple but from a package) was good.Dinners run about $13 so you can’t say it’s unreasonable, but you can probably do better elsewhere. Unless you really want to tell people that you were here. LOL.Oh yeah, the server was very nice, pleasant and we were grateful to have her.
Great service! Great comfort food, and a fun meal setting. Definitely only come here if youre super hungry to get your moneys worth.
This is probably some of the lowest quality food I’ve ever eaten in my life. The food may have been authentic PA Dutch in 1969 but today it tasted like cafeteria style food gone wrong. Nothing tasted fresh. Very dissatisfied. Beware. $27.50 for one person for family style meal. Total disappointment. The server, Barb was amazing, but not the food. 🤮
1st time! Food was served fast, and it was tasty! Hope to return, next time were in the area!
Wonderful place for the whole family. Fresh delicious food, friendly staff and great prices. First time visiting and we will return again very soon. 🤗😁💟
The service was nice but the food ? I dont know why they call it good and plenty. They give small portions and there was no flavor.
This place is great! Stayed in lancaster for valentines day weekend and had takde out dinner here. Service was polite and quick. The food was delicious. We got the fried chicken and mash potatoes and also the Dutch platter with meatloaf but we fell inlove with the corn nuggets. So amazing! With the syrup to dip. I cant stop thinking about them. I definitely recommend to eat here for dine in or take out when you are in lancaster.
We ordered takeout- PA Dutch Sampler with sides of filling and chow chow. The sampler included one piece of white and dark chicken, one slice of meat loaf and a serving of pork and sauerkraut with your choice of two sides for $12.75. It was great except that I didnt like the meatloaf. Chow chow and filling are PA Dutch dishes. Chow chow is sweet and slightly sour vegetable medley (carrots, beans, peppers, green beans, yellow squash) and very good. Filling has bread and similar to the filling in Thanksgiving and also very good. We also ordered another PA Dutch dish- shoofly pie but it was not in our order (we were not charged for it).
This my far is the most amazing place to eat. The food is always spot on. The staff is amazing as well..so friendly. We make a few trips there a year! It is so worth the 4 hour drive. They are apart if our tradition. We love it!
This is the second time in a year we visited Amish Country and this is the restaurant we always dine at least once. If you are looking for great home cooked food at reasonable prices, then look no further. The freshly baked bread with whipped butter and apple butter is so delicious. We never opted for the all you can eat buffet, just order off the menu which is in a different section of the restaurant. Make sure to stop at the 1st counter to be seated or else you will be sent back if you proceed to the actual restaurant counter. This go around my wife had the turkey with gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes and cottage cheese. I opted for the chicken pot pie, stuffing and potato salad. Cant go wrong. We returned the next day and we both ordered their Fried Chicken Dinner with Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Corn and Potato Salad along with a bowl of chicken noodle soup. Our Bill totaled $ 29 before tip.
The food was amazing! We ate family style. Very big portions and the they just kept the food coming! The waitress we had was very nice and friendly. Id definitely visit again!
Service was great, food was delicious. Only drawback was 50 minute wait but due to not be able to get staffing it was not an issue caused by the restaurant. The server we had was very busy but efficient and very nice.
My boyfriend and I were visiting Lancaster county from North Jersey for our anniversary and I must say, the food was great, the people were very friendly and Tracy our server was very patient with us because we are not very familiar with the southern dishes & she made our night very memorable. Will definitely go back whenever we are back in town.
Hands down the best meal you will eat for a long time. The food is so good and plenty of it! Be sure to do the family style and you wont be disappointed. We visit here several times a year when we visit Lancaster. The buttered noodles, roast beef, fried chicken and so much more are incredible.
First time there. Very busy but worth the wait. Family style serving.3 meats, 2 kinds of veggies, mashed potatoes and very very good brown butter noodles.Friendly service and very good food.
What a great place. Great homemade food at very reasonable prices. You have the choice of family style dining or menu. The staff is very efficient and friendly with the guests. The bakery is not open to the public yet
Quick seating at 5:30 on Wednesday. Very friendly servers. Loads of food. Everything was delicious!!!! If you leave here hungry, its your own fault. I would recommend giving this restaurant a try. Pricey, so go hungry!
This is a family style dinner, HOWEVER, during the time of Covid they are sitting people with their own family now. The food is quality. Typical Amish style food with some different to try. Their buttered noodles are my favorite in town. There is plenty if seating but this is a popular place!
Great family style all you can eat! Beef, chicken, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, buttered noodles, corn, fresh baked bread with whipped butter and apple butter, and desserts (shoe fly pie, apple crumb pie, cracker pudding, handmade ice cream in vanilla, chocolate, and orange sherbet)A must stop if youre in the area!
Not as good as I remember. The fried chicken was super greasy and the ice cream tasted and felt like frozen cool-whip. Bread and buttered noodles were the saving grace, as well as the service. Price is astronomical for what you end up getting.
The food is phenomenal. If you go to Lancaster this place is a must. We’ve been to all the smorgasbords in the area and this one is by far the best tasting food. The brown butter noodles. Wow just wow.
True to its name, this restaurant gives you Good and Plenty. You start off drink, fresh baked bread, and 2 appetizers. Then you are served 3 meats and 5 sides. You also get your choice of dessert. Youre stuffed when leaving this place! Our group did the family dining style, where typically youre seated at long tables with other families. However, due to COVID-19, each group is currently being seated separately. Great experience to try!
Is this restaurant sponsored by Crayola?I have never been so happy to try Macaroni, it taste like crayons and reminds me of my childhood when I was 47 years old I’m 198 years old now… SWEET HOME ALABAMA
This is our 3rd time going to Good and Plenty restaurant. We need to drive our son back to his college at IN. And we always plan to go for brunch at this restaurant. The waitress is nice and very responsive. I will definitely recommend this restaurant.
If you read nothing else - please make sure you try the shoofly pie! It was the best Ive ever had! Oh, and the ice cream is REAL homemade ice cream.Okay, now that dessert is out of the way, lets talk dinner. Hubs and I had the family style dinner. We were given more food than we could have eaten in two days. We asked what happens to the leftovers and were reassured it is donated to Amish farm animals. The fried chicken, brown butter noodles and mashed potatoes were my favorite until I put that bite of shoofly pie in my, well, pie hole! 😜Brenda was our server. Shes been there 21 years and reminded me of my favorite Aunt. She made us feel truly welcome, and not at all like we were just a tip or a bother.10/10 would go there again! Worth the 30 minute wait, which we were originally told would be an hour and 10 minutes - but it was only 30 💆
The food is outstanding, service is fast and friendly. There is a bakery downstairs and also a little gift shop with lots of neat little things perfect for gift giving which is on the restaurant floor.
Did the family style option, which is as much for the experience as the food. With three meat entrees, most should find enough to like with the veggies, potatoes bread and desserts. They do have a menu dining area as well
We have been eating here since we were kids. We live the family style dinning. The food is delicious and plentiful. our waitress was so kind and friendly. Although we did feel rushed this time and they werent extremely busy but maybe it was that table, or two that came in
The day we visited, it was menu only (no homestyle service). Wait staff was friendly and the food arrived in record time, but overall we werent that impressed. The offerings arent as authentic as other places and while it was good, it wasnt great. Id skip this one the next time we are in town.
Good N Plenty was an incredible experience where we were welcomed to Pennsylvania food culture with their Dutch sampler and corn fritters and meatloaf among other foods. Our server, Island, was super nice and if I lived in the area would be coming here all the time. Thanks Good N Plenty!
I dont usually eat until bursting, but when I do, I eat here... great to revisit the place. Had family style, fried chicken was sublime. Bread! Happy people! NC to PA road trip. Too many places closed, though. Get out, America!
We ordered off the menu. The fried chicken was listed as Our World Famous Fried Chicken. It was the worst chicken I have ever tasted. It was so dry, I gagged when I tried to swallow it. It reminded me of the turkey from the Christmas Vacation movie. They also advertised bottomless drinks with unlimited refills, but never once came back to ask us if we wanted refills. We paid over $60 for 4 people eating this disgusting food. Never again!
Very nice experience and educational. People were nice and animal seemed well taken care of.
Spectacular ! Waited 40 minutes, shopped in the gift shops to pass the time. Well worth the wait for family style. Best fried chicken and mashed potatoes.
Wonderful amish restaurant in Lancaster Pa. Would go back tomorrow. I had large helpings of ham, Brown buttered noodles and creamy coleslaw with lemonade. Chicken and Meatloaf looked good too.
Very good homestyle food. Prices are reasonable. Friendly staff.
Food was excellent. Fried chicken might be best ever. Quality service and ingredients.Overall a very nice experience.Hardy sides and good portions.
The service was good... The menu comfort food and the fried chicken tasty... The homemade vanilla ice cream made me wish for carry out... I just couldnt get enough
We opted to go to the other dining room as we wanted to order from their ala carte menu rather than their family style all you can eat option. It was a good choice as the portion size was generous as you can see from the attached pictures. We were also served their super soft bread with whipped butter and jam so we certainly had our fill!
Food was good, nothing spectacular. Service was good. Floor around our table had not been cleaned up after a family with children had been there.
A hearty, homemade, cooked meal that is sure to please any appetite! Definitely coming again. Only downfall was the male host that was a bit rude showing us to our seat
The food was cold. Very little flavor. They lacked help
We had a fantastic experience here and would absolutely come back! Great service and delicious food paired with a very well stocked gift shop. Definitely something for everyone here!
Great restaurant. The food is delicious. Just like having a home cooked meal. It is a great place to take your family and enjoy a meal with everyone.
Love it here! Felt like a nice grandma’s home cooked meal on a Thanksgiving evening! 10/10 would recommend!
Great place to eat for the family, friends and new aquaitences you may sit next to. Real good, feel good Amish style cooking that you can tell was made with love. Trust me you will not leave hungry, plenty of food is served from bread with APPLE BUTTER, all kinds of sides, and three kinds of meats (fried chicken is the best). And desert is included! Pies are made on the premises. Coleslaw could use a little help but all in all it didnt even matter, we had a good time eating good food together.
Very Pleasant Experience at this Restaurant the day that we went there was very little choices for someone who could not eat pork beef or chicken. There is a need for substitute of fish or plant based meal for someone who has delicate digestion. But i know that the menu caters is to the masses.
Love the food. Service slow and cup was flirty. Chalk it up to a busy understaffed day
Friendly staff; delicious authentic fare! We loved the seating on the old farmhouse porch to eat and found the Dutch Sampler enough food for my husband and I to share. Great value!
Quaint atmosphere. Good food. Great service
Very delicious food and served quickly despite being SO busy! Highly recommend!
I really give them a 4 1/2 star rating. This place is good and most the food is pretty flavorful but I have come to other places like this one and they have given me just a bit more on some levels. This place is large inside and you have different choices on what may work for you to purchase a meal ticket. Its either large area with many sets for large groups or for small groups/couples that dont mind meeting new people on the all you can eat price. If thats not for you, then you can purchase off the menu items and sit at a smaller formal area. Theres also a bakery on the lower level and a nice size gift shop. They also offer a large parking area that can hold many cars and has space for tour buses as well. Thats a bonus to bring in big and larger number of people to visit. The outside area is nice as well with a small petting farm zoo.
