Fantastic cheese selection! This is a specialty store, so dont go here looking for anything cheap, but its the place to go for imported cheeses and fancy ingredients that you cant find in the supermarket. There are many dozens of cheeses available, from New England, Europe, and elsewhere. Plenty of vegetables, pastas, and fresh bread to round out your meal as well.

Ive been coming here for as long as I can remember. The cheese is absolutely perfect every time and they carry the gourmet, imported groceries I like, including Basque peppers and high quality tinned fish.

I was corresponding with an employee about a concern I had with my order, and instead of receiving professional response, this employee was rude and condescending. My husband and I are frustrated we spent hundreds of dollars supporting this shop, given how much care and respect they have for their customers.

I go down to Texas (Austin) roughly once a month and....I prefer the BBQ here at Formaggio. Dang its legitttt. Have only tried the brisket, beef ribs, and sausage so far. Lots of sides to choose from as well

A food lovers treasure trove of not just cheese and charcuterie in fact Formaggio supplies many if not all of the top local restaurants. There are pastas and sauces, produce, ice cream, chocolates and pastries. Every holiday has extra goodies from around the world to down the street. Coffee, craft beer and nuts. The staff us knowledgeable and worth having them help you and weigh in on everything from wine and cheese to vinegar and mustard.

This is one of my go-to stores, but Im surprised these days by the unevenness of the service and selection, especially cheese and groceries. Check out the competition, if you can.

Having lived in Europe for a year, I know about shops like these, and Ive got pretty high standards. They have sandwiches, prepared food, and they even offer cooking classes. They also have a section with candy, jams and preserves, flowers, and a wide selection of wine and beer. This place is amazing.

Just fantastic. Ive been shopping at Formaggio for years, but havent reviewed until now. My experience yesterday (on a busy New Years Eve) was so wonderful I cant not share my love for this wonderful local biz!I visited yesterday in hopes to get some meats and cheeses for a homemade board. I know what I like to an extent, but needed some serious guidance and recommendations. The man behind the cheese counter was beyond helpful. I shared details on how many people I was feeding, what I knew I wanted or didnt want and he offered suggestions and advice. I cant even begin to explain how DELICIOUS everything was. All the cheeses and meats were so well received by all. I need to go through my receipt and save the names of what I purchased because I would get every single thing again!The service at Formaggio is just fabulous. Service that youd only get at a local business. Highly recommend! This is where you want to shop.

Their new location is so beautiful, spacious, and there is ample 2 hr. parking. I have been a steady customer for about 10 years and will continue to shop there for the best quality in specialty items. As someone who travels to Italy, I can tell the quality of various cheeses and deli meat. You cant get better than Formaggios. I also purchase their unique cereal options, breads and pastry, lettuce and seasonal grapes. They also carry the best rice for Risotto. Congratulations on your new space, Formaggios!

Just participated in a tea and cheese event - via zoom (on the tail end of COVID restrictions) with take-home bundles of comestibles and sweets. It was great! My hub and I learned pairing certain tea and cheeses could reveal a third taste, the same way wines paired with cheeses can do. The instructors knew their stuff and were welcoming and inclusive. I learned so much! Thank you!

I stood there in line waiting for someone to serve me for 20 minutes while nobody working there would acknowledge my existence. I just wanted to try the beef stew to bring for a Mothers Day picnic. They took care of other customers, but not me. The man who does the meat, offered to help other customers with the meat, but said he doesnt do that, pointing to the prepared food. Did he offer to get the person that does do that, or even say sorry? No. If they do not want to serve people like us, they should just tell us before we waste our time. I just walked out. This place has the worse customer service in Cambridge.

This is without a doubt the best cheese shop I have been to in the Boston area. They have a massive selection of international and local cheeses. They usually have lots of cheeses set up around the shop for tasting, but if you are interested in anything behind the counter, they will let you taste it. Some people mention it is expensive, but considering how generous they are with samples and the quality of cheeses they sell, I think the prices are very fair. They also carry many other items like cured meats. I have picked up some bread on the way out a few times, I’m not sure who makes it, but it is fantastic.

The addition of fresh vegetables and fruits, dry goods and freshly baked breads make this a perfect stop for a gourmet meal. Knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff. Went to Huron St. today for some retail therapy. They had a little table set up outside to help guide traffic in and provide hand sanitizer/gloves to everyone who entered. A waste bin was outside the exit for quick disposal.The crew inside was friendly and warm as always, and not trying to rush anyone through. I probably ended up spending a half hour or so in there. Everyone is really knowledgeable and is happy to share stories about their favorite selections, but at the same time there is no snootiness. You arent going to get looked down on or judged for not being a cheese expert. They just really like cheese and good food, and want to share it with you. Some things are a little more expensive than youd get at the grocery store, but the selection and quality are much better.The bakery and grocery sections were still open, and though some items were out of stock, the place looked to be doing well.Im really glad to see that things are still able to run; I was worried about cheesemongers in general, so I hope that business keeps up. Also, I noticed they offer curbside pickup. I might need to keep that in mind for next time.

We shopped here almost every day for a year. Just couldn’t help ourselves. Always get anything the baker made that day, especially the scones (my god the scones...) and the pineapple upside down cake. Skip the pricey prepared foods, and buy the inexpensive, but lovingly-made daily breads and local beers. Do get the bbq each Saturday out on the sidewalk, but do also expect to a line and a wait as the pitmaster serves at his own speed. Looking back at my year in Cambridge, Formaggio unexpectedly played an outsize role. On my stomach and my wallet.

When a store screws up a $400 online order, and you call to provide feedback, one wants to hear at least a simple acknowledgement and apology, not “nobody in our team made a mistake, but sorry” in a flippant and insincere manner, practically yelling at me, whereas I should have been the one to raise my voice as the wronged party. You also don’t want to hear, “what do you want to accomplish by complaining?” without even a simple apology. We have been a patron of Formaggio for over a decade. When mentioning an issue they messed up badly, what we were looking for was for the store to address the issue and fix it, along with an apology for the screw up. That’s it. Instead, completely shockingly, we were met with an indignant attitude.

How can you not love this place. Youll probably spend your monthly paycheck but its worth it for all the deliciousness.

Great little specialty food store with a strong emphasis on high-end cheeses, bakery and bread. Other exotic foods and limited wine selection available. Staff are plentiful and very helpful; very good at making recommendations. Parking is limited to on-street spots. Fun place to get foods for your next wine & cheese party but be prepared to walk out with a lighter wallet!

There are a few places in the Boston area that have stood the test of time for good reason. Formaggio Kitchen is one of them. Ive worked there and been a customer for many, many years. Yes, it can be expensive, but if you really care about the quality of the food you are buying and care about the service experience you have when purchasing, this is one of the only places to go.

This place has everything. It could be overwhelming but its awesome and worth it! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. And a whole bunch of tiny apples Ive never heard of :)

Hands down the best cheese place Ive been to. Very friendly staff with an incredible selection. Theyll also discuss your preferences and give a lot of samples for you to figure out what you like. A but on the expensive side, but well worth the splurge for what you get.

This place is dangerous. You can easily spend an exorbitant amount of money on a mind-boggling array of cheese, meats, baked goods, produce(!), packaged sweets and more. Many of the products are local but theres also a lot of eclectic selections from abroad--particularly in the sweets department. They also have ready-made sandwiches for midweek lunch, so if you work in the area its a great place to pick up a quick bite (there are tables outside).

I went to formaggios kitchen because I was doing a research paper for my english class about cheese. I was helped by an extremely helpful staff member (I wish I had gotten his name) and he helped me for almost an hour, answering my questions with great detail and was very helpful and friendly, and was clearly passionate about cheese and genuinely concerned with helping me and doing his job the best he could. I could not recommend this place more. Hi, I received my first order from you this Thursday and was so pleased I had to send off a note. First off I want to thank Lauren who was so helpful and answered all my questions and really did call me back with answers!! (Usually no one ever calls back). Beautiful but functioning packaging that arrived when I was told it would arrive. I have not been able to find Cooked Beef tongue locally ( I still cant cook it correctly) and thought I would try your online offerings. I also decided to try your chicken liver pate. Soooo pleased I tried both. The Beef Tongue is soft and with the most delicious taste. I tried it on untoasted wheat bread with spicy brown mustard, baby kale leaves and jarred roasted red bell pepper. The Liver Pate just melts in your mouth. Thought I had died and moved to Heaven!! Thank you for making 2 most delicious products and very affordable. Your online service is easy to use and prompt. Best first time experience Ive had in a long time!! Thank you, Barbara

Best cheese selection is Boston, hands down. They have almost anything you could want and if they dont have it, they can get order it. On weekend in the summer there is a great barbeque outside the shop. Also have delicious pastries and a good local beer and cider selection. Fresh fruits and vegetables are also good, albeit a bit expensive. Get the brioche if they have any!

A gem in West Cambridge, and a foodie favorite. Long-standing treasure house of cheeses and other delicacies. They carry a truly extraordinary Comte which is worth a trip all by itself. The Extra Grand Cru from Marcel Petite in France. Aged 36 months and in very limited supply. Fortunate that Formaggios has such a good relationship that they get an allocation.

This business located on Huron Ave in Cambridge, Mass. is a gourmet deli/shop filled to the gills with every imported culinary treat you could imagine. The cheese mongers here offer up the largest collection of exotic imported and domestic cheeses I have every seen. Prices are not cheap on anything reflecting of course the high quality of choices available. Get what you pay for!

Excellent small local grocery store that has very high end wines, cheeses, sweets/chocolates, and general specialty items. Great cheese samples and wine samples if you get lucky on weekend afternoons! Great service - they will let you try cheese and deli meat before buying to make sure you get exactly what youre looking for!

I love getting lunch here because while I wait I can taste some fancy cheeses and check out the latest produce. I love their seasonal selection of fruits and I always find a treat to go with my lunch.

This place is truly amazing, as a chef I love the ingredients they have everything is organic and worth spending the money for. I’m definitely going to come back and purchase a lot of foods because the selection is incredible and I gotta respect the people that put this store together.

THE BEST place for cheese and charcuterie in the Boston area IMHO. Summer BBQ on Saturdays is really great too. They also have a great selection of freshly baked breads from bakeries in the area and lots of wonderful specialty grocery items like various vinegar (including high-quality balsamic), chocolate, honey, tea, coffee, olive and other oils, anchovies, the list goes on...

I really enjoyed this place, walking through the front door and already smelling some funky cheese really lets you know where youre at... Its Formaggio. It can be a bit overwhelming at first with all the selection of cheeses but the staff is super helpful and lets you sample some cheeses before you buy. As intimidating as it is go in knowing one cheese that lets you think this is somewhat a non-regular cheese, I know something! As I did with a Camembert. Great place for other groceries as well, plenty of local and imported sources with some hard to find beers which was a pleasant surprise. Next time I have a cheese and charcuterie party Im shopping here 200%

Wow... Not enough can be said about this place. First, the content... Everything in this place is high quality and amazing. Theres baked goods, wine, cheese, and other various foods. Now for the staff... So incredibly knowledgeable! The woman telling me about the wine was like a historian and a horticulturalist combined with a sommelier... It was crazy! The cheese people were goddamned experts too! The guy was telling me how he cuts the wheel in a specific way so all your small slices are the same size, instead of like a wedge... Im going back here every chance I have... Any excuse for good wine and cheese and anything else you could want to be super classy.
