Will and his dad were so kind and helpful during our first visit to their shop. My husband was really excited to finally get to play some of the vintage guitars that he is interested in, along with a new Thompson. As an added bonus, I was able to find him a nice birthday gift, a handmade capo, while we were there. The shop also has other instruments like banjos, violins, upright basses, and dobros, in addition to some accessories. Definitely worth the trip!

A bit of a delayed post here, but I wanted to be sure and let folks know how great it is to work with Ed! I called the shop back in December 2020 to purchase a beautiful Waterloo WL-14 MH, and Ed was personable, open, and enthusiastic about making sure I ended up with the sound I wanted. Even when I ultimately decided that the Waterloo wasnt the sound for me, Ed graciously and expertly helped me to find a like-new Martin 000-18 in the shop that I know will be a forever guitar. All of this during COVID conditions, which the shop is handling with a level of safety that I really respect. Its not often you find folks in the music world like Ed and Will that you can trust to be upfront and knowledgeable while providing incredible quality instruments! If youre thinking about taking the leap and buying something on the website that has caught your eye, do it--youll be in good hands working with the Lowes.

One of the best selections of vintage guitars in NC. In addition, they have a friendly and very knowledgable staff - Will was extremely helpful!

These guys and gals are wonderful. I’ve purchased two Gibson guitars from them, online, sight unseen and sound unheard. Their prices are fair and honest, their products are top-notch, they’re pleasant and easy to work with, they ship quickly and their products arrive, exactly as advertised and in perfect condition. Will Lowe and family run a first-class operation. I look forward to doing business with them again and I can’t wait to visit their shop in Burlington, NC.

A close friend of mine took me into Lowe Vintage about 2 years ago and from the moment we walked in I knew it was someplace special. Ed Lowe greeted us so warmly and said we were welcome to play any instrument in the house. I returned several months later and bought a beautiful Custom Martin OM-42 and visit Ed & Will every chance I get. Best guitar shop Ive ever been in and the nicest people to do business with.

I purchased a 2002 Collings DS2H from these fine folks - a guitar Id been searching for for some time, but theyre quite hard to find - and I couldnt be happier... with the guitar, or with the experience working with Will. Its a little uncomfortable buying a guitar (especially an acoustic, I think) without ever having held it or played it, but Will went above and beyond in helping me out. Over the course of a few days he answered all my many questions, took additional photographs I requested, and even got a demo video done in short order. He even shipped it to arrive on a specified day! Wow! About the best customer service you could ask for, and the price was more than fair. The guitar is beautiful, and plays and sounds like a dream. I hope one day to get to the shop in Burlington just to say thanks in person. Great experience, great result! Kudos to Lowe Vintage!

Fantastic extremely welcoming shop. The showroom is nice, clean, and all the instruments genrally hang at hands reach. The guys in this shop are second to none, ready to make a friend and a customer for life rather than a few bucks on a guitar sale. This is the kind of business players on a professional playing circuit, or living room pickers should definitely visit. Easily one of the best shops in the state.

You dont find many guitar shops like this in the world. Its like a museum that is for sale. The owners are incredibly inviting and very knowledgeable. They have a passion for history and the finest instruments ever built. If you have a love for acoustic guitars and banjos, there is no finer store in the Carolinas.

I stumbled into Lowe Vintage last fall on a visit to Burlington to see my family. I was absolutely blown away! To be able to walk into a store with such a wide range of vintage instruments is one thing, but to be greeted by Ed and told to enjoy myself and play what I wanted...well, that was almost more than I could handle! Eds friendliness and helpfulness is something that other stores could learn a great lesson from. For example, last time I was there, Ed went and got the 41 D18 they have without me even asking, brought it to me and said, You gotta try this! Who does that? Lowe Vintage, thats who! And there was no WAY I had the scratch to buy that guitar, and Ed knew it...yet he treated me no differently!Incredible selection, incredible service! I try to make a trip whenever Im in town!

I recently purchased a 1931 Gibson L-1 from Lowe Vintage Instrument Company and was very pleasantly surprised when it arrived in better condition than described. The price was very fair, they were quick to respond and most importantly, there were no surprises - which is often a problem when buying a vintage guitar sight unseen. I wouldnt hesitate to buy from them again.

A must visit location if youre in downtown Burlington. This might as well be a museum of music and youll see why when you stop in. But its a living museum where you can touch, see, play, and buy all the instruments that have shaped great music history. Plus they host a pickn music event once a month.

This is a wonderful place to visit. My son and I went in there yesterday almost at closing time and talked with the son of the owner (sorry Im not good with names). We were very impressed with the friendliness, helpfulness and knowledge that we encountered. He voluntarily brought out a 1942 Martin guitar and offered to let my 14 year old son and I play it and of course we did. It played and sounded like a dream. When we got out to the car my son said Dad I cant believe I just played a guitar that cost more than most cars. I highly recommend Lowe Vintage Instrument Co. Thanks for the very pleasant experience, we will be back.

I entrusted Lowe Vintage to do some repairs on my 60 year old guitar, and as expected their luthier did a fantastic job. I couldnt be happier. Lowe Vintage is a first rate shop all the way around. I am proud to call Ed and Will my friends.

There arent enough stars to rate exactly how much I love this store. I went for the first time on 11/4/2015. I walked in and I could hear the guys in the back. I looked around and started realizing what gems they had in the store. After seeing the selection, I just new that when someone came out to speak that I was going to get the holier than thou treatment that most boutique dealers treat their visitors with. BOY WAS I WRONG!!!! The owner walked out and asked Can I help you? And I told him I was just looking. What he said next blew me away. He said, Well if you see anything you like just grab it off the wall and play it. At that point I questioned whether I had heard him correctly or not. I have been in shops where their entire inventory value is less the the cost of one guitar at Lowe Vintage and the owners act like I should take off my shoes when I come in and wear white gloves to handle.Back to Lowe Vintage. After he had told me to play anything I wanted, I said, You dont hear that everyday! He told me that when him and his son opened up the shop that they wanted it to be the shop that they always dreamed of walking into.I played about 7-8 guitars and was impressed with each of them.He and his son just kept bringing me guitars to try out, knowing that I had no intent to buy. Its almost like they just enjoy seeing peoples reactions to playing guitars that are known legends.I would thoroughly recommend everyone who love fine guitars to go and visit Lowe Vintage.
