PLEASE do not support the unscrupulous new owners of this store. They unfairly seized my familys consigned property and likely did so to many other families. They dont deserve your business - dont entrust them with your familys property. Read below for the details of our story.A family member consigned our grandmother’s items here with the original owner, Beverly. They reconsigned every few months under new contracts. When the latest contract was close to expiring, she tried to contact the store by phone before the contract deadline, and left numerous messages that were never returned. So my family member then visited the shop on a Monday (during normal weekday hours) and again the following Monday - but every time she visited the store happened to be closed. This wasnt out of the ordinary, though, because Beverly (the former owner) had a chronic illness and often closed the shop during normal business hours. Finally, last Friday, my family member made it back to the store and it was actually open. Come to find out, the store had been sold about a month prior, and my family member found out the hard way that the new owner is an extremely rude man with no consideration for anyone who had originally consigned with Beverly. The new owner made no attempt to contact any prior consignors to let them know about the change in ownership (or store hours or phone numbers), and now claimed that since the contracts were expired that all of my grandmothers items belonged to him. The new owner refused any offer to reconsign, stating that because the contracts expired, our family’s property was now his. My family offered to even let him keep it all except for one special item, begging him to let us at least reconsign that one item - but the new owner stubbornly refused again, simply restating that all the property is now his.As mentioned above, my relative had made several attempts to contact the store (via the previously, contractually-established phone number and store hours) before the consignment contracts were up - but to no avail. If she had known there had been a change in ownership and that the phone number and store hours had changed (which the new owner should have taken reasonable steps to communicate) she would have been successful and would have been able to respond before the contracts had expired. Now all of our family items have been unfairly seized by this unscrupulous man.An ethical business owner would take responsibility for this miscommunication and confusion, especially under the circumstances - especially a new owner who is trying to build a reputation. But not this guy. Im sure our family is not the only one that got their property stolen via this scam. Just appalling behavior! I beg you, please do NOT consign or buy from this rude and inconsiderate person!
