Good selections and choices for everything a grocery store can offer. The produce is good quality and fresh. Its easy to navigate the entire store. And whether you use self checkout or not, checkout is always fast here!

I have tried to use their pick up and go order a couple of times. Twice they really messed it up and threatened to put my stuff away while not refunding me. When I tried to talk to someone about a really rude voicemail they left for me on this, she said I must’ve had a bad day and I was taking it out on her. When literally she told me in the voicemail that I should have found their mistake myself and contacted them to fix this myself. I wasn’t being aggressive, but I also wasn’t going to say that I just misunderstood her when I had the voicemail for us to listen to together. Though I felt pretty hot when she said that this was all on me. I would call and complain to the manager, but when I tried to call to fix all of this I was on hold forever.

Patron for several decades always can find quality food at competitive prices. I also purchase many of the Signature foods and products.

I dont think Ive ever given Safeway a bad review had some problems with my just4u fuel points they not only straightened it out they throw in a couple extra. I found loyalty works both ways, Superior Service in the deli and the service counter. Happy people doing their jobs well.

Do not use the drive up an go. They don’t bag half of your groceries, give you a completely different product than what you ordered. When you call the customer service desk to possibly exchange an item you get hung up on. Tried to reach out to management even gave them my contact info haven’t heard from them. Will not be back to this location poor customer service.

I usually avoid this store due to crime nearby. I needed to go to the pharmacy as I entered I got panhandled by a guy with no pants on. The pharmacy took a long time to fill the prescription so when I returned I came in a different door, walked down the baby products isle and was stopped by a wall. I asked an employee how to get to the pharmacy. She was very short with me and I was stopped by the wall a 2nd time following her directions. When I asked again she got angry so I asked the Starbucks employee, she gave me good directions past the walled area. I have no Idea why the baby products are behind a wall guarded by a unpleasant employee.

I walked past a man stealing steaks! He put them in his backpack and walked out! Then the man ahead of me in the check out line, wanted to buy some oranges. They were $4.99 a pound! He didnt buy them. I wonder why things are so expensive.. Safeway on SW 148th and 1st avenue s.

Remodel nightmare . Really more than one or two checkers. If I have to check myself out and beg my own groceries I do not expect to pay eight cents per bag here in Des Moines but burien is 10 cents per bag still having to do your own bagging Im getting real tired of that

I give Safeway three stars only because the Cashier was rude. I understand that its a tough time, but great customer service is key. She was very nice to the man ahead of me, but was less so with me. Still love this location.

Theyre like any Safeway you go to, kind, considerate, employees who go out of their way to help you find what you want and make sure that you feel welcomed. Their store brands are top notch and a real value and the drive up and go service is a blessing in disguise - best named company ever, they are the SAFE-WAY to go!

They have done a better job at cleaning up the store. The clientele that hangs out there is not the best, just be careful. The staff can be a little short at times.

It mite have been because it was late but the store was clean and well stocked they literally had everything I was looking for. The only thing I have to say negative is that the price for Ground Beef was Crazy High, thats not Safeways fault all in all cool late night grocery store run.

California Ave Safeway has been my hometown store for 25+ years. Always the best grocery store to find what I need.

I know, I know.. I cant help it, there bakery and deli food stuffs are really fresh and really good, and they are reasonably priced. And then they have there rewards card that can save hundreds per year and gives you some really great deals, And guess what,??, its free!!!!Thanks Safeway.. You all are awesome.

. One time I didnt even go into this safeway but I went to the ups store. Some person was outside with a hatchet swinging it at people. People have had their groceries stolen from them in the parking lot. Theres always someone making things uncomfortable in the parking lot. The store is always out of something. I avoid going here as much as possible because of how uncomfortable it makes me. Not to mention that the parking lot is ridiculous to navigate. Edit: thank you for the response. While youre on it could you work on the other burien safeway? I hear people get theyre groceries stolen too

Surprisingly expensive compared to my neighborhood Fred Meyer. But selection is good the staff were always very helpful so l was definitely a satisfied customer.

I think its a great grocery store convenient the checkout people are really helpful although theyve had a few blackouts in that area closing the store very very early I hope they get their power generator for that whole area fixed thats the only downside

Its pretty pathetic you have to ask permission to use the restrooms here. You have to track down an employee then they grant permission and export you to the restroom where they punch in their code to let you in.

This grocery store is in great location in Burien, right across from the Burien Transit Park & Ride. But like most grocery stores prices on various items can be higher then what Im willing to pay. 💵 Though they have a fine looking inside decor, the outside sidewalk can be filthy at times. Given the homeless of Burien tend to congregate on the sidewalk outside the store. Perhaps it would be nice of they could spray down the sidewalk with a hose once in a while. But I do like their donuts there better then other grocery stores. 🍩🛒🧀🍎

They have the glass chocolate milk that is sold by Linden Farms Creamery and it’s one of the very few Safeway’s that carry it. Thank you Safeway for carrying the best chocolate milk on the planet

A great place to shop, decent prices, friendly staff (even with difficult people), convenient self checkout, spacious lanes with easy signs to direct any customer to their well organized goods. The minus star is for the lack of hand baskets at this particular location only carts are available.

It would be better if they had a way to rid themselves of the homeless people hanging around all the time

You can get what you need like any good Safeway but theres always something going on in the restrooms or the parking that creeps you out.

Shaming Deaf patronsIts amazing that Safeway continues to blatantly support discrimination, especially today.I am Deaf. I asked two different staff (one was a middle-aged woman near the deli) for help today, while a third (a middle-aged male cashier) looked on, then walked away, while both angrily yelled at me. Neither offered pencil/paper, neither would let me lipread them. In fact, your Starbucks staffer pointedly turned her back on me when I said I couldnt understand her. But I certainly could hear her rage and her volume.I had to ask my partner, who is hearing, to intervene. It was incredibly humiliating and unnerving. And hurtful. I shouldnt have to be shaking and upset because I asked for help.

Fast service and friendly people. All I did was use their bathroom. No complaints.

Consistently understaffed. The people who work there are friendly, but there are always long lines and tons of registers that arent being used. At night they close the self-checkout and youll spend 15 minutes waiting to check out at the single open register because the company making millions in profits wont hire enough people to properly staff their store. Terrible.

The Safeway is as any Safeway on the south end can be a really great experience or can be a really challenging experience based on the time of day and what happens to be happening at the store heres the deal the employees at all these Safeways are trying their hardest and doing a wonderful job at it there are always willing to help out somebody who is courteous and understanding of their situation which is that theyre under a lot of pressure but theres a lot of people that are also stressed out right now that are treating them miserably and also trying to take advantage of a situation where theyre understaffed and undermans and its unfortunate and it makes me feel for them and its a tough job to have when youre being paid so little to do so much so I sympathize wholeheartedly with their circumstances but wish that the stores and others would consider what they go through and pay them accordingly because they are doing a service for all of us which is making things convenient and being as pleasant as possible under the conditions.

There is a cashier named Larry (the only male cashier) that takes pride in placing your groceries in the bag. He is thoughtful, considerate and knows how to be relatable! I am not a fan at all of the staff/ employees that work there but Larry and the night time male manager make up for everyone else that work there.

Manager is doing her best and always looks like she could use a drink.

If i could put 0 stars I would. I did my shopping, went through self check out, bagged up my groceries and walked out of the store and was surrounded by 4 people telling me to take the meat out of my purse. I didnt steal anything and I even opened my bag to prove it and while looking in my purse the woman was yelling at me that the meat is in my purse. I guess she thinks I have a magic purse that makes things inside it invisible or something. Their staff should be sure someone stole something before doing something like that. I was going to get some short ribs but decided against it and put them back on the shelf before I checked out. Seems like that was the first time that store has ever had someone change their mind and put an item in their cart back on the shelf

This grocerys always clean, great customer service, with a high quality company brand. but the HUGE plus, is their mobile app! i highly recommend that shoppers download this!! I save approx 30% every time; but I often save 50% off my total bill! Yes, theres always the great card savings, but this goes far beyond that. also, based on your purchase history, theres a custom list of coupons, added to the large assorted savings. theres oftentimes a free item, a $1-5 cash savings from your total, etc Im a fan! take the time to learn how to use it, you wont be sorry!

My former SOP at this Safeway was to ALWAYS use the self-checkout to save time. But, presumably because of theft issues, theyve walled off their wine and spirits area, in addition to an odd collection of other items, for example shaving cream. ALL of these items are now supposed to be paid for in this area, which is generally manned (or womaned, as the case may be) by just one overburdened employee.This system needs some serious reconsideration.

Recently had a rather poor experience at this location. Two issues: Safeway typically charges a premium for their produce, which is fine if they delivery a premium product. In this case the apples purchased appeared firm and visually pleasing, however likely due to long term storage the internal structure (crisp) and flavors of the apple had broken down. The characteristics of the variety the apple were quite lacking. Secondly, when it came time to check out they only had one checker, self check out was closed. It took 8 minutes waiting in line to get checked out for a small order. This location needs to have an express lane opened in the mornings so when someone has cart full of goods and a fist full of paper coupons other customers arent waiting to checkout with 4 items.

The Burien WA Safeway is truly a dangerous place to shop. Drug vagrants wandering the aisles and parking lot. Purse snatching is a regular occurrence.

Saw some horrible woman in the bakery berating and degrading another coworker. Asked a third person who she was and was told she manages the bakery. I put down the muffins and walked out. I will get breakfast for the office somewhere else. Get it together Safeway!

Whoever runs this place at night should be fired. Every single night there is a line halfway to the back of the store with only 1 cashier and 8 other employees stocking shelves. I shouldnt spend more time waiting in line than picking out my items. Again whoever runs the night /grave should be fired for allowing this to happen night after night.

I love the deli in this store. Customer service is usually exceptional. The store is often very crowded, but the lines go quickly, so its not too bad.

All though the layout of the store is confusing and checkout is a pain the staff in the meat department are excellent; friendly knowlegeable and helpful.

Standard Safeway, but I do appreciate the businesses surrounding it in the complex, especially the US Bank and BECU, makes life easier. This Safeway seems slightly larger than others. It is a little silly that this one is like 2 miles from another one on 1st Ave S, but I do like this one a bit more.

Its a great place to shop but they need to get on top of what they run out so when someone wants something it should be in the back or it should be out on the floor but other than that its a great place to shop.

BEWARE ASTHMA AND OTHER RESPIRATORY ILLNESS SUFFERERS! THIS STORE IS FILLED WITH FRAGRANCE!!This place no longer cares about disabled people. Over half the handicap parking spots have been taken away. They have maybe 2 electric carts that are rarely charged for people who cant walk. They began using some kind of air freshener. Who wants to eat food that has been soaking up toxic chemicals from air fresheners? A place that sells food should NOT use this stuff. Even the CDC states buildings should be fragrance free. This is an access barrier for many people with different disabilities. Asthma, COPD, lung cancer, environmental illness, and many more can not shop in this store now. People with limited mobility also struggle to get in to shop for food they need. Very sad. This was my go-to store for all my food shopping.

Ive been shopping here for years. I love that its not super crowded like ginormous sized stores. Easy to find everything and people are super friendly and really go out of their way for you in all the Departments.However you must keep your purse close to you, if you carry one, when walking in the parking lot. All you people that use an electric scooter that put your belongings in the basket like your purse please dont. There have been thefts there. I have noticed an increase in police cars perusing the lotPurses have been stolen out of carts. A popular activity if you leave your cart unattended someone can walk off with it and load up your groceries into their vehicle and drive away. The wheels are supposed to stop if they havent gone through the checkout line but often it doesnt happen and this has been verified by one of the checkers. I dont want to single out this Safeway for Crime because crime is everywhere these days.Speaking strictly about this particular Safeway store though I love it here and everyone who works there.I just wish people would be more aware of their surroundings.

Go here often. Open later then any other stores in my area. They have a couple real good pleasant people that work here however quite a few seem annoyed that your there well at least when Im there. Lol. I can be shopping for a side gig I do or come in 40 min to closing. Either way I leave feeling like I inconvenience them some how. This is my local Safeway, has always been my go-to low prices-has everything, good service store, but not lately. Shelves are not stocked as well, check-out lines are usually long now. The staff is worked so hard. Sunday I was in line for literally a half hour before my turn to be checked out. Might be due to covid and district management cutting staff hours but Im going to shop more at the Thriftway now
